M.O.P. Denies Beat Jacking

M.O.P. has responded to rumors and accusations that they stole a beat from an emerging producer from Philadelphia.

Over the weekend, a producer named Kil sent out a mass email accusing M.O.P. member Lil’ Fame, who is also a music producer, of stealing a beat submitted to the group on CD.

“It’s true I didn’t do the beat ‘Rude Bastards’ as Kil said. I heard it, it was hot and I rhymed on it. I’de never steal a beat, that’s not me,” Lil Fame told AllHipHop.com.

Longtime M.O.P. manager Laze Laze said everything is one big misunderstanding and that the group would never knowingly steal another person’s beat.

“I understand the process of credits and turning in a record so I know that this is a clerical error [that] can easily be fixed. But Fame is hurt, being an up-and-coming producer (himself), he knows the struggle of making beats and having to almost give them away to be heard,” Laze told AllHipHop.com. “We feel the pain of the kid in his crib, teaching himself how to use Reason, or his first attempt at an MPC 2000.”

He explained clearly that M.O.P. “would never take a kids track without making every attempt to give him credit.” He also stated that the rumor comes at an odd moment as the group’s new CD is slated for released tomorrow.

“It comes at a time when all of our energy should be focused on more positive things like the release of the new M.O.P. album Foundation,” he continued. “Nevertheless its our responsibility to speak on it.”

Historically, M.O.P. has helped and contributed to the growth of a number of artists, producers and even video directors, Laze said, and the notion of beat-jacking is totally contrary to the legacy of the group.

“In all of our years, we have strived for the underdog, the unheard of producer (DR Period, Mahogany, Jaz-O,, Notts,) the up and coming video director (Hype Williams, Chris Robinson, Brian Luvar, Jessie Terrero). You see all these talented people were brand new, unproven prodigies when they began their respective works with works with the Mashout Posse,” he said. “So it comes as a major surprise that someone would say we stole their beat and that we would address it with such disdain.”

In an email sent to several sites, including AllHipHop.com’s rumor section, Philadelphia-based producer levied his claim against M.O.P. and Lil Fame. Here is the email in full:

“Back in September 2008, MOP, Joe Budden, Termanology and Big Shugg came down to Sonar in B’more and me and my peeps go to the show. I pass out beat cd’s to Term, Joe and during MOP’s show I give it to Laze E Laze’s son (some young n***a) who’s the hype man. Now, fast forward to September 2009 and I’m listening to MOP’s Foundation album on my way home from work and when track #9 “Rude Bastard” comes on….it’s MY F***ING BEAT! Not the same sample, the SAME BEAT! Drum programming, sample, chops…the whole damn beat! Then my man Mills does the knowledge for me to see who got credit for the track on the album and it says “produced by Fizzy Womack”! So…I don’t get a check, I don’t get credit…I don’t even get co production credit! And I’m not looking for no “feel sorry for me” or none of that hoopla…I’m just asking for cats to let ANYONE who ya’ll know who loves hip hop to know who did the track so I can @ least get credit from my peers (hip hop fans and other producer’s grinding out there) for the beat. I’ve been grinding @ this beat thing for YEARS and for my first placement for a major artist to be a jack move…it just ain’t right…but it is what it is…like I said, do me this justice and @ least let the hip hop heads ya’ll know that the bol Kil from Philly gave MOP THAT heat… not no f***ing Fizzy Womack…”

Also, M.O.P. denies that a statement affirming the alleged beat jacking was confirmed by Lil’ Fame.

“And the quote on the net is not from me I’m looking into who made that statement as me,” Fame told AllHipHop.com.

M.O.P. says that statement was not sent out by the rapper/producer and they don’t represent such disingenuous movements.

Laze concluded:

“We spent a lot of years making our type of music on purpose for that part of society that doesn’t get represented. We left labels and sometimes financial security on sometimes our code alone. So it hurts us that any one would call the Mashout Posse thieves. Even in the robbery days it was point blank. And not from the poor.”

Jay-Z Rep: ‘No Clue’ As To How Lil Mama Crashed Stage

A representative for Jay-Z has issued a statement stating they had “no clue how” Lil Mama ended up on stage during the rapper’s highlight appearance during the 2009 MTV Music Awards.

Lil Mama crashed the stage about 5 minutes into Jay-Z’s performance of “Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys.

You can clearly see Jay-Z was not happy with Lil Mama’s presence on the stage during the performance as he grimaces.

He can be heard saying “You’re T-Paining right now,“ before he slyly attempted to push her into the background, referencing an incident when T-Pain crashed a stage when Jay-Z was performing “D.O.A.”

Rapper Fabolous created a new “hash tag” on Twitter named #lilmamais, which has quickly become a trending topic, making fun on the teenaged rapper.

He Tweeted a number of humorous lines about Lil Mama, labeled the American’s Best Dance Crew Judge a “crazy motherf**er.

“#lilmamais fresh off hangin out wit Maia Campbell,” the rapper Tweeted, referencing the fallen actress who made headlines last week when a video surfaced of her allegedly using crack.

Lil Mama served as a judge on Season 3 of America’s Best Dance Crew. Her best known hit is “Lip Gloss.”

Eminem and T.I. Take Home MTV VMAs

Rappers Eminem and T.I. emerged as winners for Sunday’s (Sept. 13) MTV Video Music Awards, an event that featured a heartfelt tribute to late music icon Michael Jackson and boos for rapper Kanye West.

Eminem took home the VMA for Best Hip-Hop video for his song “We Made You,” while T.I. collected the award for Best Male Video for his Rihanna-assisted collaboration “Live Your Life.”

Presenter Sean “Diddy” Combs, who accepted the Best Male video award on T.I.’s behalf, noted the Georgia rapper’s absence “We miss you boy,” said Combs, who filled in for T.I. by thanking the rap star’s fans, record label and family.

“As you know, T.I. couldn’t be with us tonight, but he is here with us in spirit.”

Prior to presenting the award with actress Jamie Lynn Sigler, Combs announced West’s name among the nominees for Best Male Video.

The mention resulted in boos from many in the crowd, who were displeased with the Chicago rapper for interrupting the acceptance speech of country star Taylor Swift.

Accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop video, Eminem took time to thank his fans for “sticking by me this whole time” and producer Dr. Dre as he acknowledged his late friend and fellow rapper Proof.

“Proof, this one’s for you homie,” said the rapper, who appeared throughout the VMA’s via comedic skits with 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan promoting the event’s Best New Artist Category.

The pair later presented that award went to pop diva Lady Gaga, whose choice of attire and theatrical performance provided one of the show’s noteworthy moments.

The evening’s house band, featuring rappers Wale, Pitbull and Kid Cudi, generated kudos from Brand.

The late DJ AM was recognized by Cudi, who paid tribute to the disc spinner with a rendition of his popular song “Make Her Say.”

Floyd Mayweather: The King Is Back, Part 2

The wait is nearly over. This Saturday (September 19, HBO PPV), Floyd Mayweather will attempt to shake off nearly two years of ring rust against Juan Manuel Marquez. In Part 1 of his exclusive interview series here at AllHipHop.com, Mayweather broke down the Marquez fight, his outside ventures, and aired out Rick Ross. Here, the outspoken pugilist takes a moment to look forward to potential bouts with Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, and Miguel Cotto.  But first, the former undisputed welterweight champion has to take care of business this Saturday.

AllHipHop.com: I know you’re focused on this fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, but I wanted to have you verify something [Golden Boy Promotions CEO] Richard Schaefer said about you having a potential “hit list” of opponents which is rumored to include Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, and Shane Mosley. Is that true or something that’s solely contingent on what happens on September 19?

Mayweather: Man, I don’t have to have a hit list because I’m on everyone else’s#### list! And I’m on the “pay list” [laughs]. You can make a tremendous piece of change against me and that’s why I’m constantly called out. But you can’t knock them. Every boxer’s goal is to get to the pinnacle.

AllHipHop.com: Do you feel you’re in De La Hoya’s position now, regarding how everyone used to chase him for a big payday?

Mayweather: No, De La Hoya’s a cool guy but I love doing business with Richard Schaefer. When Al [Haymon], Leonard [Ellerbe], and Richard Schaefer get together they do tremendous business for me, you can’t go wrong. So for those reading this article right now, you got to get with Team Mayweather. And it’s not hard for find us, except for Al [laughs]. Again, a “hit list” for me isn’t necessary.

AllHipHop.com: You’re always thinking a few steps ahead regarding your career and never focused on just the present. I remember in 2003 when you were a lightweight and called out De La Hoya, everyone thought it was a joke. But we saw over a 4 year span all your steps focused on building your mainstream rep and you got him in the ring…

Mayweather: I think I could have been a big as Oscar De La Hoya, too. But we were both under [Top Rank promoter] Bob Arum. Bob Arum was handpicking his opponents. He was paying to get De La Hoya in certain positions. With me, they kept me underground like UGK. I was beating everyone they put in front of me, and I knew eventually they’d have to take notice that I’m good at what I do.

AllHipHop.com: Is it true that you tried to make a fight with Miguel Cotto at 140 pounds and Arum blocked it when you were both under the same promotional umbrella?

Mayweather: Of course, because he knew I wasn’t going to be with him for much longer. That fight would be great, Cotto’s a good fighter. I think Pacquiao’s a good fighter too and one of the best fighters out there. The difference with me is that I’m a good fighter too and also an extraordinary businessman. I chose to have great businessmen around me to further my career.

AllHipHop.com: You mentioned Cotto, how do you feel he fared in his last fight with Joshua Clottey?

Mayweather: Oh yeah, I thought he lost that one. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a good fighter, though. So is Clottey. What I feel so bad about is that we were working on signing Vernon Forrest to Mayweather Promotions. Right now we’re working with Zab Judah, he’s fighting on our undercard. We have a tremendous undercard so the people cannot miss it. September 19 will be a part of history. We’re going to bring the A-listers out. Everybody must tune in.

AllHipHop.com: There’s one rival we forgot to mention. He’s a fighter you had initially been chasing or calling out until around 2005-2006. After that it seems like you kind of dismissed it from ever happening…

Mayweather: Shane Mosley! I would say that Shane Mosley represents the 90’s. Now all of sudden after he got 5 or 6 losses now he talking about “yeah, I want to fight Floyd!” Well your career is almost over and now you want to fight me. They all want to talk about Shane’s last fight [with Antonio Margarito], but he beat De La Hoya twice on steroids. So did he win all those championships? Absolutely not, he was on steroids. Now he talks about wanting to fight everyone out there? Shane, your career is over. You’re almost 40! Give it up, Shane!

AllHipHop.com: It’s interesting you mention the steroids issue from Mosley second De La Hoya fight. He’s mostly been given a pass on it because it’s only happened once. But I doubt you’d get that same benefit if it happened to you.

Mayweather: If that was me doing steroids the media would have crucified me. Ah man, they would have thrown me in the fireplace with gasoline draws on. It’s okay when someone else does it, but it’s always taken to the extreme when anything happens with me.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve had a lot of great performances from a strategic standpoint, in regards to shutting down an opponent’s best assets. We seen that when you switched to the high guard and walked Zab Judah down, and beating Hatton at his own game on the inside.

Mayweather: True, even with De La Hoya the thing people don’t know is that he chose the gloves for me. And when I knocked Hatton out, I dropped him with 10 ounce gloves. When he fought Pacquiao, Pacquiao had on 8 ounce gloves. So basically I beat the guys all up and when Pacquiao puts the finishing touches on them, he gets praised for it. When I beat De La Hoya he’s washed up. Pacquiao gets him and it’s amazing.

AllHipHop.com: One thing you didn’t mention is that you fought De La Hoya at 154 pounds, a weight that put you at a disadvantage.

Mayweather: And De La Hoya chose the weight he was comfortable at. When he agreed to fight Pacquiao at 147 pounds, he hadn’t fought there in 8 years and was drained. He was training to simply make weight and not for the fight.

AllHipHop.com: You were also fighting in a smaller ring, correct?

Mayweather: Yes, they chose everything from the weight, ring, and my gloves. And you never hear that talked about by the media. When have you ever heard of a fighter picking another guy’s gloves? They had me in some 10 ounce heavyweight gloves.

AllHipHop.com: With all that said, which performance would you rate as the best of your career?

Mayweather: [Pauses] I really don’t know which one I’d consider the best. That will be for the fans to decide. I just go out there and try to be the best I can be. I’ve went out there 39 times. Out of them I can honestly say I have maybe 9 duds. But on the flipside I can say I gave them 30 exciting fights. I can only be honest.

AllHipHop.com: I will say this. When I ask people about your fights, most cite the Diego Corrales fight as your best win.

Mayweather: Yeah but some will say the Arturo Gatti fight was my best performance. Then others will say the Ricky Hatton fight because I carried the U.S. on my back. I conquered a country with one check hook! They booed our national anthem! It was very, very disrespectful and rude. But they’re my fans also. The U.K .fans love me.

AllHipHop.com: That fight won a lot of people over.

Mayweather: Sometimes it takes a performance like that, and you’ll see another on September 19.

The Sidebar: Fans in Los Angeles can catch Floyd Mayweather’s public workout at 11AM at the Kodak Theatre Arch (6801 Hollywood Blvd.). Watch Mayweather-Marquez this Saturday September 19 on HBO PPV or select theaters throughout the country. Knockout Nation’s Ismael AbduSalaam will be ringside covering this superfight.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Diddy’s VMA Arguement! Eminem’s Daughters Explained!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.EMINEM’S DAUGHTERS

Shout out to everybody that hit me up about Eminem’s daughters. Eminem has teenage daughter, Hailie Jade, his biological daughter with Kim – we all know about her. Then, he also has full legal custody of his niece, Elaina, who is young. AND, he has full legal custody of Whitney, the little girl Kim had with another man while Em and Kim were separated. Wow. I have didn’t realize Eminem did that. He’s a pretty cool dude for that. I mean, I’m not sure that I could do that, but I have to say…he handles his biz. That other dude and Kim should be ashamed of themselves.

SMH

DIDDY’S FIGHT WITH SECURITY?

Diddy mad is not something I care to see. He’s been known to blackball and bust people in the head with bottles. That’s in the past though. In the present is some sort of conflict at the VMA after party. Lady Gaga and Jay-Z hosted the event and Diddy had some issues. Look at the faces in this pic! FIRE vs ICE! Anyway, nobody really knows what happened.

Sure looks heated, but I am sure cooler heads prevailed.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

It started with tomfoolery and ended with it too and guess who made it happen? HIP-HOP! Thanks, Kanye and Lil Mama. Just GREAT.

KANYE WAS REMOVED FROM THE BUILDING

Kanye West was escorted out by security after he jumped on stage during Taylor Swift’s win over Beyonce. Kanye thought it was good idea to defend Beyonce’s “loss” at the very beginning of the show. Uhmmmmmm…. I have to say and ask, “What was he thinking?” It bothers me greatly, because I know that he was reflective of “us.” I will let you determine what that “us” is. Still, from what I understand, Kanye was taken out of the venue by security.

NO ROCAFELLA ON ROC NATION!

A lot of people may wonder why none of the old Roc crew is represented on the new Jay-Z album. Well, part of that is that Jay-Z is moving into a different direction musically. The other part of it is that Jay was unable to take any of the Roc rappers over to the new Roc Nation. I am told that he had his eyes on a couple of them, but had to leave it be in order for him to move on. Anyway, that’s that.

M.O.P. IS GONNA KILL ME!

I am not sure what happened, but I got took for a blasted bad rumor. Well, part of the rumor is correct. This dude from Philly did do a beat that was given to M.O.P., but there was no jacking and Fizzy Womack aka Lil Fame didn’t jack him. From what I understand, there was some sort of error in the processing of the album and the guy wasn’t properly credited. Anyway, they are working it out from what I understand. I also understand that M.O.P. might be a bit upset, but they are a “friend” of the site. No disrespect ever!

JODY BREEZE DISSES YOUNG JEEZY!!

Somebody has something to say and he’s saying it in a major way.

CHOPPER AND HIS SUIT GO TO ATL!

I don’t know if anybody cares about Chopper, but he is working on a new album down at Patchwerk Studios in the A (ATL,not Africa). He seems to the one doing the most from the old “Band.” And, no Sara allegedly stabbing her man is not doing a lot.

There is no quit in Choppa!

POLOW THE BIG DON?

I wasn’t there so I cannot speak on it personally, but a tipster from the Def Jam party on Saturday told met that Polow Da Don rolled into the party, which was to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the label. When he rolled in, he was almost unrecognizable from the dude that we once new. I heard he gained quite a few pounds and also had a very scruffy look about him. Somebody speculated that he was just so rich that he no longer has to care. I wish that was the case for me.

LIL JON GETTING BACK WITH THE BOYZ?

Lil Jon is another producer that has had a very quite couple of years. Well, I hear Lil Jon is about to try to recreate the magic he made a few years ago with his boys. They reportedly tried to get out there and do their own thing. LJ tried to do his thing on the solo tip and nothing really POPPED. So, what happens? They are rumored to be getting back together to try to get that “ol’ thing back.” Will the fans care?

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Awwwww…Asher Roth has a Black girlfriend. After the Rutgers event, I knew he got a raw deal.

Did anybody peep how Solange performed right after Beyonce AND how she is allegedly dating Wale, who was the house band.

What the DEVIL! Eminem made reference to his “daughters” at the MTV awards. Can anybody help me out with that? What did Eminem mean?

According to somebody, Christina Millian is preggers with The Dream’s kid.

QUICK POLL!Imagine you are in a place with little to no access to Hip-Hop events…would you pay a few bucks to get a bird’s eye view of such moments through a live stream? Even further, would you like to have conversation with the artists and acts involved in the live event? Check the poll!

WHAT IN THE HELL WAS UP WITH LIL MAMA? She got on stage and ruined the performance.

So, I went straight to M. Bleek’s twitter to get the scoop.

“Lil mamma buggin haaaa… Haaa I’m still in shock I didn’t even see where she came from lol…”

Fabolous also had a lot to say about his fellow Brooklynite.

RANDOM QUOTES

Ghostface says he tried to get The Dream on his CD and then The Dream turned into a nightmare.

“No Dream, nah, Dream fronted on me. Yeah, radio killer f*kin fronted. Yeah, it’s Def Jam but you know certain n*ggas get cocky, these little n*ggas. It is what it is though. I ain’t gonna complain about it but don’t give me your f*ckin’ number and tell me you gonna do something — and renege on me. That’s these lil’ n*ggas. It’s different eras. These different eras mean a lot. This is the bullsh*t era.”

ODB HAD CLASS

You have to give props to the original. Back in 1998, Ol Dirty Bastard busted up in the Grammys and proclaimed that Wu Tang should have won the honors. Check out how he did it and contrast it to Kanye’s outing.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

That ref sucked for snitching on Serena and then lying about it. She tried to argue that Serena said she would try to kill her. LIES! She said she would shove the tennis ball “down her throat.” Sorry ref!

Serena went on to joke about it at the MTV Awards.

INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS BROWN’S BOWTIE

I think its time for Wale’s bowtie to get some shine.

CHANCE’S CROSS TALKMy homey Chance jumps in to deliver some of the things that he is hearing in NYC and in other places in the world. HILLARY CLINTON GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK???

Ever since Bill completely stole Hillary’s thunder by “rescuing”

those reporters in North Korea there have been rumors that Hillary

hasn’t been happy with her lack of authority as Secretary of State

(remember when she almost popped on dude for asking what her husband

thinks).  Well now they’re saying she is considering leaving her post

in the White House and either returning to the Senate or possibly

running for governor of New York.  The current governor, the 1st black

governor in NY history, isn’t very popular nowadays and only became

governor because Eliot Spitzer was out there trickin’.THE NETS NEW ARENA

So Jay-Z has been saying they plan to break ground in BK for the new $772-million Nets

arena as early as December and the design is looking pretty good

(below).  Developers plan to have everything up and ready to go by the

2011-12 season but you know how that goes with unions and what not.

THE OLD ROC LINEUP BACK TOGETHER???

NEVER gonna happen … sorry … Ever wonder why

Jay didn’t bring anyone from the original Roc with him when he left Def

Jam and started Roc Nation???  I was recently told by someone whose

been down with The Roc since they had the game on lock, it’s in Jay’s

contract that he can’t sign any of those artist again (i.e. Freeway,

Beanie Siegel, The Young Gunz etc).  Even when their deals are up with

their other labels they are forbidden from getting down with Hov.

Apparently Def Jam wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to re-create

those glory days somewhere else.

That doesn’t mean he’s not going to be involved in their careers

though.  I hear Jay-Z and Mark Ronson, whose worked with Amy Winehouse

and Wale, will be executive producing The Young Gunner Young Chris’s

next album Now or Never … Neef where you at???

I’M JUST SAYINGKid Cudi may want to pick up a copy of “He’s Just Not That Into You” (it goes both ways) I

got excited when Jay brought Oprah to BK then disappointed when they

said it was JUST for O magazine and not the show … I’m excited again

Jay was in Chicago yesterday shooting an episode for O that will air

the 24th.

I see the AHH community loves them some Rosa Acosta … You’ll see

her again in Mike Posners “Drug Dealer Girl” video and if your lucky

and go to Duke University she was there yesterday.  And if your even

luckier and your Usher your hittin’ … no offense but that’s definitely

a come-up Tameka was a cute girl but she wasn’t gonna be eye candy

anytime soon

Kanye Apologizes For Interrupting Taylor Swift At VMA’s

Kanye West has apologized to country singer Taylor Swift after the rapper/singer jumped on stage during her acceptance speech at the 2009 Video Music Awards last night (September 13).

Swift won the MTV VMA for best female video for “You Belong With Me,” besting Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

Kanye West felt Beyonce was meant to win the award and rushed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, interrupting her to proclaim Beyonce’s vide the “best of all-time,” leaving the young singer in tears.

On his blog he said:

I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS! …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!…………….. BEYONCE’S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I’M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!

Later in the show, Beyonce allowed Swift to finish her speech, after Beyonce took home Video of the Year.

“Wow. This is amazing. I remember being 17-years -old being up for my first award with Destiny’s Child. And it was one of the most exciting moments of my life,” said Beyonce, who came up to accept the award for Video of the Year. So I would like to invite Taylor to come out and have her moment.”

While the two hugged, the crowd gave a standing ovation as Swift finished her acceptance speech as she thanked her fans as well her little brother’s high school for letting her shoot the video for “You Belong to Me.”

For the remainder of the show nearly every mention of Kanye incited a roar of boo’s from the audience.

There are also pictures floating around the web of Kanye drinking from a bottle of alcohol on the red carpet, which may have played a part in the rapper’s outburst.

West was also removed from Radio City Music Hall after interrupting Swift.

Many celebrities on Twitter reacted to Kanye’s outburst and to Beyonce’s kind gesture.

Here are a few:

Pop singer Pinks twitter: www.twitter.com/Pink:  “Kanye west is the biggest piece of sh*t on earth. Quote me. ” “Beyonce is a classy lady.I feel for her, too.Its not her fault at all, and her and Taylor did their thing. And d##### bag got kicked out. HA.”

Singer Katy Perry http://twitter.com/katyperry: “F*CK U KANYE. IT’S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN. There’s a reason why Beyonce is my hero.”

Keri Hilson said. “YAAAAAY! Taylor got her moment!! ”

Basketball player Ron Artest: http://twitter.com/Real_Ron_Artest:  “Kanye is the @ congjoewilson of the rap game.”

Basketball player Kevin Durant: http://twitter.com/KevinDurant35:  “wow taylor swift won over beyonce and lady gaga???? congrats to her!! buuuuut kanye trippinnnnnnn, that was disrespectful”

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

In addition to Swift and West’s situation, this year’s VMA’s featured a moving tribute to Michael Jackson.

Janet Jackson concluded the tribute to her brother as dancers performed routines from videos to Michael Jackson hits such as “Thriller,” “Bad” and “Smooth Criminal” while each wearing a white glove on their right hand.

Performers included Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys who closed the show, among others.

Sunday Selection: Chris Brown -“Twitter”

“Twitter”

Chris Brown Ft/KMac

What’s up everybody? Hope all is well. After taking a small hiatus last week to enjoy the

Holiday I’m back! The other day I got my hands on a leaked joint titled “Twitter” from an artist who actually tweets under the alias @MechanicalDummy. If you’re clueless to whom that is, let me fill you in…its none other than Chris Brown. And, Breezy is actually singing and rapping on this new song that starts off with a verse from an artist called KMac.

I must admit Chris’s does his thing on “Twitter.” His delivery is good and whoever penned the 16 for him did a decent job. Over the years we’ve heard songs that relate to modern technology and I think after this song drops Breezy’s number of followers just might pick up. J

Hearing Chris rap is something new to me. And…I was actually impressed with his flow and delivery. I even went so far to pull up a bonus track of him spitting on another track that leaked a few months back called “Randsom” ft/ Rock City. Once you listen to “Twitter” also take some time to listen that as well. It just might shock you. But in all, let me know what you think!

After seeing Chris Brown on Larry King recently, I sat back and wondered how much of his career could really be salvaged following what he said and didn’t say, but after hearing new music from him the truth still remains he is a very gifted and talented artist and I personally will continue to respect his craft despite his shortcomings. And truth b told, at the end of the day he’s still a dope artist.

50 Cent On Lil Wayne: “There’s no way those lyrics can be factual”

When it comes to beef, 50 Cent is generally known for feuding artists at random, which often seems to go hand-in-hand with his marketing push for an album. However, as he promoted his new book , The 50th Law, at Howard University he referenced Lil Wayne after a fan. The rapper mogul said,”He grew up on TV…he’s been on since he was 14-years old” and the crowd seemed to co-sign with applause.

Check out the whole dialogue with book co-author Robert Green and watch the intellectually barbed ideas of 50 Cent.

Lil Wayne has another child, as Lauren London has reportedly given birth to their child today.

Lennox Samuel Ari Carter was born today and weighed 7 lbs, 12 ounces at 21 inches long, according to unconfirmed reports.

Lil Wayne was present when London birthed the baby, according to published reports.

Both Wayne and London confirmed that they were having a child together after the constant media attention and scrutiny hit a fever pitch by the fans.

The rapper confirmed his paternity last month in and interview with DJ Fuzzy of Los Angeles’ Power 106.

London pleaded with the fans as rumors emerged that Lil Wayne may not be the father.

“Rumors are false. Why won’t they just let us be? Wayne is indeed the father and there’s no question,” she wrote on her Twitter page. “We are celebrating a life.”

This is Lil Wayne’s third child and London’s first. Former singer Nivea is presently pregnant with the rap artist’s fourth child.

Jay-Z: The Show & The Pictures From Sept. 11

Pharrell looked at Jay-Z with doting eyes of admiration and said, “This is the birthplace of hip hop, y’all birthed a new king.”

It was hard to refute the notion after, for close to two hours straight, Jay-Z performed old and news songs from The Blueprint 3 for approximately 20,000 screaming fans at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 11. There were so many dynamics in the room, so many moving parts it was hard to take in. Fans were on their mobile devices, telling friends and family what they were experiencing at the show. The crowd was as diverse as any show, any musical genre can get. Music industry business people stood in amazement of the show as if they were average fans.

Watching Jay and Kid Cudi and his skinny jeans was an exceptionally ironic moment, considering the elder artist has chastised the tight denim. But the execution of Jay-Z’s “Already Home” was flawless. Mary was so ghetto chic and the ladies in the audience went berserk for her. Not to be outdone were Beyonce and Rihanna, who both had their stellar moments as well. The crowd loved John Mayor and his rendition of “DOA” and other songs. No disrespect, but T-Pain was not in the house. Diddy hopping on stage was interesting, considering nobody could quite understand what his purpose was. Hey, even Amber Rose quietly got on stage as her man Kanye performed. Everybody wanted to be there.

But, there was a purpose for the evening and that was to pay homage to those lose in the tragedy on September 11.

“We celebrate life tonight…we having a good time,” Jay said. “Terrorists took down our towers they thought they weakened us, they were wrong. We stand here tonight even stronger….we run this town, New York City.”

Below are some of the images from the historic evening as well as viral videos of the show.
