(AllHipHop News) Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is known to take aim at other celebrities on his Instagram page. Now the G-Unit boss is aiming at a very powerful target.
Overnight, 50 Cent began posting about Oprah Winfrey. It appears he took issue with reports that the billionaire entertainment mogul is producing a new documentary about sexual assault in the music industry.
“I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men. No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal [Jackson] and Russell Simmons this sh*t is sad,” wrote 50 on IG. “[Gayle King] hit [R. Kelly] with the death blow documentary. Every time I hear Micheal [Jackson] I don’t know whether to dance or think about the little [boy’s] butts. These [documentaries] are publicly convicting their targets, it makes them guilty till proven innocent.”
Both R. Kelly and Michael Jackson were the subjects of different 2019 docuseries that explored numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against the two singers. After Surviving R. Kelly aired on Lifetime, Kelly was indicted on numerous sex-related charges in Illinois and New York.
HBO’s Leaving Neverland led to petitions against the late Jackson. Plus, Oprah faced some backlash for hosting a special television program where she interviewed MJ’s Leaving Neverland accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck.
Last night, 50 Cent returned to Instagram to throw another shot at Winfrey. He posted a meme that featured accused sexual abusers Bill Cosby, Jeffrey Epstein, Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, R. Kelly, and Donald Trump. The black men were labeled with “jail” and the white men were labeled with “walk.” The pic’s caption read, “You think Oprah don’t notice how this sh*t is playing out?”
Oprah’s currently unnamed documentary is scheduled to premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and stream next year on Apple TV+. The filmmakers have not officially confirmed which public figures will be covered in the doc.
However, reports suggest the film will follow a former music executive possibly exposing someone in the industry after an alleged assault. This information and a Sundance description about the movie led to speculation that the documentary is about Drew Dixon, the woman that accused Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons of multiple instances of misconduct.
Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering (The Invisible War, The Hunting Ground) are directing and producing the Apple TV documentary. The film is described as “a profound examination of race, gender, class, and intersectionality, and the toll assaults take on their victims and society at large.”
