On October 20, Adult Swim will showcase their latest Hip-Hop project entitled African Swim, a free, 15-song download collection of South Africa’s premier artists.

In preparation for their first African album, the cutting-edge animation network traveled to Africa to brainstorm the release and meet with featured artists Jozi, Gumshev, and Maggz.

Helming a network that boasts collaborations with Killer Mike, David Banner, DangerDoom, and Schoolly D, creative director Jason DeMarco is confident that Africa’s progressive music scene will be a welcomed change of pace for Hip-Hop fans the world over.

“Adult Swim is constantly on the lookout for great new music, and this year we jumped at the chance to introduce our fans to a music sampling from Africa where Hip-Hop is a vital force and growing genre of music,” DeMarco explained to AllHipHop.com. “African Swim is a collection of the best songs that we brought back from the Motherland.”

Known for championing unknown artists from a diverse range of genres, African Swim joins a growing collection of free online albums the network has sponsored.

To date, the free album series includes Warm and Scratchy (indie Rock), Chocolate Swim (Hip-Hop) and Ghostly Swim (Electronica).

Launched in 2001 through Turner Broadcasting System, Adult Swim offers original and acquired animation, live action comedy, and action series for young adults.

Sharing channel space with the equally popular Cartoon Network, Adult Swim airs overnight from 11PM to 6AM Monday through Saturday, and 10PM to 6AM on Sundays.
