Doja Cat Discusses Nicki Minaj’s Controversial Verse On “Say So (Remix)”

Was the leader of the Barbz taking aim at Queen Bey?

(AllHipHop News) Rising entertainer Doja Cat got a major co-sign when Nicki Minaj hopped on the remix to her Top 10 hit “Say So.” The collaboration earned a lot of attention because some listeners believed Minaj was possibly taking shots at Beyoncé on the song.

“Why you talking ’bout who body fake? With all them fillers in your face. You just full of hate. That real ass ain’t keep your n*gga home,” rapped Nicki on the outro of “Say So (Remix).”

Those lines were suspected to be a response to Beyoncé’s bars on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage (Remix)” which came out two days before “Say So (Remix).” On “Savage,” Bey, says, “If you wanna see some real ass, baby, here’s your chance.”

Doja was asked about Nicki’s “Say So (Remix)” verse during an interview with Nick Cannon on Power 106. According to the LA-based singer/rapper, she was not aware of what Minaj was going to spit on the record.

“I didn’t know. It wasn’t discussed before, so it was a surprise for me too, but she killed it as per usual,” answered Doja when asked if she knew what Nicki Minaj was going to say on the remix.

The Hot Pink album creator added, “People want to create a lore or a story or a fantasy over somebody’s lyrics at all times if they’re big enough and there is some sort of seemingly ‘competition’ to whatever’s happening. So it’s just for their entertainment and not so much the truth. It doesn’t need to be the truth.”
