is set to release his first ever-video compilation titled

“The Videos” on DVD and VHS, May 28, 2002 through Palm Pictures. The

collection chronicles ten of Hype’s most groundbreaking videos. Included

is Hype’s biographical and video graphical information, exclusive interviews,

behind the scenes bonus footage, commentary on each video, and trailers.

Hype was born and raised in Hollis, Queens in

New York. After attending Adelphi University in the late 1980s, he began his

career sweeping floors and running tapes on the set of old-school Hip-Hop videos.

In 1993 Hype started his own company, Big Dog Films and 1994’s Wu-Tang

“Can It Be All So Simple” was the first video he made. THe video established

Hype as a major talent in the genre.

In just a few short years, Hype has garnered

numerous directorial accolades and countless awards and nominations from The

Music Video Production Association (MVPA), MTV, Billboard, The Source, and The

NAACP. Among the honors he’s received for his video work include the Billboard

Music Video Award for Best Director of the Year (1996), the Jackson Limo Award

for Best Rap Video of the Year (1996) for Busta Rhymes’ “Woo Hah,”

the NAACP Image Award (1997), the 8th annual MVPA Award for Black Music Achievement

(1997), MTV Video Music Award in the Best Rap Video (1998) category for Will

Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” and the MTV Video Music

Award for Best Group Video (1999) for TLC’s “No Scrubs.”
