(AllHipHop News) Who’s better to provide commentary on the hottest feud in Hip Hop at the moment than the man that created the classic diss track “No Vaseline”? Rap legend/actor Ice Cube was asked about the Meek Mill versus Drake battle, and the West Coast representative made it clear the rhymer from Toronto is in the lead at the moment.

“Drake is winning right now,” Cube told The Daily Beast. “But, you know… Meek could come back.”
Cube took shots at his former groupmates and manager Jerry Heller on 1991’s “No Vaseline.” Some Hip Hop historians partially credit the song for leading to the rest of N.W.A. disbanding. Dr. Dre left the group not long after the track was released.
The story of Cube, Dre, Eazy, MC Ren, and DJ Yella’s rise as one of the most iconic rap groups of all time is depicted in the new movie Straight Outta Compton. One real life moment does not appear in the biopic. In The Daily Beast interview, Ice Cube revealed he had a discussion with Eazy about their famous conflict.
“At one point – and this isn’t in the movie — me and Eazy got on the phone after our feud,” said Cube. “We were like, ‘We should just keep this on wax, no matter how mad we get and how much sh*t we talk. Let’s keep it on wax because once we take it to the streets it ain’t Hip Hop no more. It’s gangbanging.’ We all fought to try to get out of the gangbang lifestyle and not have to deal with that every day. Why go back?”
