A few weeks ago, the world learned that Chrissy Teigen and John Legend suffered an enormous loss. The model-musician couple revealed their third child, Jack, did not survive after Teigen suffered severe pregnancy complications.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough,” posted Tiegan on October 1. She added, “On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
This week, Legend was tapped to perform at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. He took the opportunity on Wednesday night to show love to his grieving wife. The singer-songwriter began his set by saying, “This is for Chrissy.” Legend then presented a live rendition of “Never Break,” a song off his latest studio album Bigger Love.
“Never Break” opens with the pianist crooning, “We got a good thing, babe. Whenever life is hard. We’ll never lose our way. We both know who we are. Who knows about tomorrow? We don’t know what’s in the stars. I just know I’ll always follow the light in your heart.”
