West coast rap label High Powered Entertainment (HPE) will release two new albums by rap Cali rap veterans Kokane and Kurupt.
Rapper/singer Kokane is preparing a G-Funk infused album, which will feature guest appearances from Teena Marie, Charlie Wilson, Young Buck and Daz Dillinger.
The project comes two year’s after the producer/songwriter/rapper’s last musical offerings The Hood Mob and Back 2 Tha Clap.
“[This album] shows my growth over the last couple of years, but it also gives my fans the true Kokane they’ve gotten high on for years,” Kokane said. “And yes, I keep it funky for the streets, because that’s where I come from.”
The soulful tone of the album is nothing new for Kokane, who is noted for putting an old school twist to modern day sounds and hooks for various artists.
“It delivers an infusion of styles like George Clinton’s funk music, with the hard bass-driven sounds that are synonymous with west coast Hip-Hop,” said HPE CEO John “J” Silva.
Kokane isn’t the only artist high on Silva’s list.
Rap veteran Kurupt will return to the scene with his upcoming HPE release Gangsta Party 2.
The album is the follow-up to Dogg Pound member Daz Dillinger’s album Gangsta Party: Part 1.
Among those appearing on Gangsta Party 2 will be Kokane, Spice 1, Daz Dillinger and Rosco.
Kokane’s untitled album, as well as Kurupt’s Gangsta Party 2 is slated to hit stores this summer.
