The 23-year-old woman that was allegedly shot twice by rapper Remy Ma has come forward to speak about the incident, which happened outside of a New York bar early Saturday morning.

Remy Ma, born Remy Smith, is accused of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph twice in the torso around 4:00 am Saturday (July 14), after a night of partying at The Pizza Bar in Manhattan.

Remy Ma fled the scene of the shooting in her Cadillac Escalade with several associates, but the SUV crashed into a parked car several blocks later, forcing each occupant to escape on foot.

Several men were apprehended a short time later, while Remy Ma surrendered to authorities Saturday evening.

According Barnes-Joseph, after Remy Ma allegedly shot her twice, the rapper rummaged through Barnes-Josephs’ purse, in search of $3000 that had been stolen from Remy Ma earlier in the evening.

“All I heard was the gun go off,” Barnes-Joseph told The New York Daily News. “I couldn’t believe she shot me. “What hurts me is that when she shot me she went over and dumped the bag. She didn’t even say, ‘Oh, my God, I just shot her.’ That’s what hurt me so much.”

Remy Ma was charged with attempted murder, first degree assault and various weapons charges and held on Rikers Island in lieu of $250,000 bond.

She pleaded not guilty yesterday (July 15) and was released from prison, after her manager put up his home as collateral to satisfy the bond.

“The fact she would think I would steal from her, it hurts me because I thought she was a friend of mine,” Barnes-Joseph told the Daily News.
