(AllHipHop News) “Y’all n-ggas still signing deals? Still? After all they done stole, for real?” raps Jay-Z on his 4:44 song “Moonlight.” The question of why musicians continue to enter into contracts with major labels has become a regular inquiry in the culture.

DJ Smallz caught up with Rich The Kid to find out why the “New Freezer” rapper decided to sign with Interscope Records. RTK claims more than one company was interested in adding him to their roster before he finally settled on the label home of Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Rae Sremmurd, Schoolboy Q, and Playboi Carti.

“Because [of] the relationship and the connection I have with the people and the staff – my A&R, the whole team, the CEO. I talk to the bosses,” explained Rich on choosing Interscope.

The Queens-born, Atlanta-bred artist/executive also leads his own label named Rich Forever Music. Famous Dex and Jay Critch are among the acts connected to the brand.
