Culture Massive: Inner Circle and MMG’s Magazeen Unite Two Generations of Reggae
Ian Lewis of Inner Circle (Bad Boys) and Magazeen of Maybach Music Group (MMG) represent two distinct generations of Reggae. So, uniting them at the studio hotspot, Circle House, in Miami, Florida, was bound to create an idea exchange of massive Dancehall proportions.
And it did, as the two traded thoughts on what has become of Reggae in recent times, and what can be done to help boost its popularity. According to Ian, the culture switch happened as Jamaicans began to take an interest in the foreign market that is Hip-Hop.
“Hip-Hop went and got bigger than Dancehall and flopped Dancehall. It’s because Jamaican people love foreign things. Hip-Hop has Lil Wayne; Drake is getting bigger and bigger,” Ian observed. “You can’t be one dimensional. What do you think [Vybz] Kartel does? Kartel [sees] how Puffy and them do it, Jay-Z and them do it, and he realizes music is only 50 percent of what makes you an artist.”
In essence, the conversation about successful Reggae artistry came down to longevity, with Bob Marley still reigning as the number one selling artist in the history of Reggae music.
Magazeen, the lead Reggae artist for Rick Ross’ Caribbean music imprint, Maybach Jamaica, spoke on keeping his music appealing for the masses: “That’s why as a writer, an artist, and composer, you have to write different types of music if you want to keep abroad.” He also noted, “It comes back to your penmanship and creativity.”

Nas To Auction Off Backstage VIP Experience For Charity For New Year’s Eve Gig
(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop star Nas will give two of his fans the evening of a lifetime, thanks to a new charity auction being hosted by CharityBuzz.com.
Nas has teamed with CharityBuzz.com to auction off the opportunity for a fan and one friend, to hang out with him backstage during his New Year’s Eve show in New York.
The rapper will bring in New Year’s Eve at Radio City Music Hall and he is teamed with Madison Square Garden and CharityBuzz.com to host the auction.
In addition to hanging with Nas backstage, the two fans will be able to enjoy the New Year’s Eve show from VIP seats.
The auction will raise money for MSG’s Garden of Dreams Foundation, which works with children to help overcome obstacles, while providing opportunities to meet some of the world’s most famous athletes and entertainers.
Nas’ auction is slated to end on Thursday (December 27) on CharityBuzz.com.

Reports: Lil Wayne Involved In Massive Brawl After Concert
(AllHipHop News) Reports are surfacing that Young Money CEO Lil Wayne was involved in a massive brawl, after a radio concert in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Reports are surfacing that Lil Wayne appeared at Power 106’s “Cali Christmas Show,” on December 14, where he was supposed to take the stage with Kendrick Lamar.
An eyewitness told gossip website Hollyscoop.com that a brawl broke out between the rapper and unknown individuals backstage at the Gibson Amphitheater, where the concert took place.
“Punches were thrown but no arrests were made,” an eyewitness said. “It was a serious fight and was witnessed by everyone who was backstage.”
The rest of the concert went on without incident and included performances by Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Ca$h Out and others.
So far, representatives for Power 106 or Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money have yet to comment on the situation.
Judge Grounds Meek Mill, Further Restricts Rapper’s Travel
(AllHipHop News) A Philadelphia judge banned Meek Mill from traveling the entire month, spoiling the rapper’s plans for an international tour, as well as a high-profile network TV appearance.
Lawyers for Meek Mill squared off in Municipal Court yesterday (December 17), over whether or not the rap star would be allowed to tour for the rest of the year.
The 25-year-old rapper, who is signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, is currently on probation for a 2008 gun/drug conviction.
Meek Mill was supposed to go on a tour of Africa this month, with stops in Lagos, Nigeria, Libreville, Gabon.
The rapper was also supposed to appear on the Conan O’Brien show tomorrow, but that has also been scrapped, since he cannot leave his hometown of Philadelphia.
Meek Mill told NBC 10 that the judge’s ruling will severely impact his earnings for the rest of the year, which he needed to support his child, family and an entourage of “dozens.”
Hip-Hop Rumors: JoJo Capone’s Not Co-Signing Ross From GD’z!
DAMN IT! AS you know, we have been running a lot of stories about The Gangster Disciples and their issues with Rick Ross. I thought JoJo Capone, from Chicago, was helping Rick Ross’ plight. But, it seems that is not the case. He did a recent interview with Forbez DVD and let it be known that is not the case. JoJo seems to feel like Rick Ross lied to people – or at least they feel that way – and they are letting the beef rock. JoJo suggested that Ross calls him when he needs help in these streets, but he wants it to stick to the music. “He put himself in that line of fire and he’s got to get himself out of it – if he can,” JoJo says. This doesn’t look good at all.

But, this is what they are saying: KANYE IS GOING BROKE MESSING WITH KIM! I thought Kanye West was rich, but I never see his name on those lists with Dr. Dre, Jay and 50 so maybe not so much. Anyway, these people are saying that Kanye is waning in popularity and he’s not getting music industry paper like before. Really? They also say he’s over exposed thanks to Kimmie. Really? Gardner Law Group Hosts Annual Toy Drive For Baltimore’s Needy
(AllHipHop News) Baltimore-based attorney Paul Gardner Esq. is gearing up to host his annual Christmas party.
Gardner and Gardner Law Group have worked with artists like King Los, Lola Monroe, Young City, Outkast and others in the entertainment industry, helping to guide, defend or support each one’s career.

Sadat X Talks New Album “Love, Hell or Right”
(AllHipHop News) Founding Brand Nubian member Sadat X is celebrating 30 years in the Hip-Hop industry, with the release of a new album titled Love, Hell or Right.
Love, Hell or Right is the ninth solo album from the New Rochelle, New York native, who is a member of the Five Percent Nation of Gods and Earths.
In fact, the album’s title is taken from a degree lesson from the faith.
“You have to go through hell in order to do right. It’s dedicated to the hardworking people and not about fame and glory,” Sadat X explained. “Hip-Hop spans the globe, its universal. It’s an art – it doesn’t imitate, it creates.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: That Dude Suggests He Tapped Ice-T’s Wife Coco!
Ice-T may have to get all “6 in the morning” with this new dude AP.9! This dude is suggesting that he tapped CoCo’s reserves! Now, the thing is, why? Ice-T and CoCo are a loving couple that have done some great things together! But, now it is looking like they may have to endure some other level of drama.
The dude AP.9, basically said in a new interview that he hit it. As you may know, pictures surfaced that CoCo had been taking some pretty inappropriate pics with this dude. Well Ice took her back. And they were seen smily faced. But, now, his face is going to be more like this:
The TMZ interviewer dude kept asking AP that there were rumors that he tapped CoCo’s white chocolate and he just kept saying, “That’s a RUMOR? Is that a rumor?” He was basically saying, “That’s a FACT, not a rumor.” He also said that he wasn’t afraid of Ice-T, because he’s “from the hood.”
