Earlier this month, Sugar Shane Mosley celebrated his 39th birthday. At an age when most fighters are slowly adjusting to life after boxing, Mosley is looking to climb the ladder again after a high-profile loss to Floyd Mayweather back in May. Standing in front of him is a bigger, slick boxer in Sergio Mora, who has his own aspirations of stardom. The fight is a huge gamble, and another example from Mosleys career that he will face anyone regardless of the style matchup.
Several questions remain unanswered from the Mayweather fight. Was it simply an off-night to a defensive wizard, or has Father Time caught up with Mosley? Can junior middleweight rejuvenate him, or will the young guns there close the book on him? Does he go after the Pacquiao-Margarito winner or a Miguel Cotto rematch after Mora? Whatever he decides, Shane Mosley has one message for the fans.
Dont count him out just yet.
AllHipHop.com: Youre still a name fighter even after the Mayweather loss. What made you go with Sergio Mora instead of shooting for one of the belt holders at 154?
Mosley: I think hes fought a lot of solid guys, and hes coming down from 160 to 154. Hes from LA, and thatll help to bring in a lot of fans from the California area to the Staples Center. Were both hometown guys so its going to be a very exciting fight.
AllHipHop.com: This isnt your first time at junior middleweight, but you had moved back down to welterweight a few years ago to get some of the bigger names. When you did that, you said you needed a few fights to adjust. How has your body adjusted to being back up at a higher weight?
Mosley: I think I feel more comfortable now compared to 154. I dont really have to make the weight. I feel real sharp right now and ready to go.
AllHipHop.com: Will you be jumping back and forth between 147 and 154?
Mosley: I think I can still get to 147 if I wanted to. If there are fights I need to take there Ill do it. Right now my body limit is between 147 and 154.
AllHipHop.com: After the Mayweather fight you mentioned that you had experienced neck problems during the fight. Was that due to the jabs you were taking from Mayweather or another problem that had to be addressed afterward?
Mosley: Well, it was right up in my neck during the fight. When I looked up in the fourth or fifth round, I was just tight. The jabs didnt do it, and it unfortunately happened after I hit him with good shots in the second round. It is what it is.
AllHipHop.com: Overall, how would you assess Mayweathers physical strength and his style in the ring now that youve faced him?
Mosley: Mayweather had decent power but it wasnt like whoa, this guy can hit. His ability to move is really good. It just wasnt my night. But if we fought again, we could assess a little better. There were a lot of things I couldnt do, and he was just better that night.
AllHipHop.com: If you did get a rematch Im assuming youd want it at 154?
Mosley: 147 or 154, it doesnt matter. Im even good in the middle at 150.
AllHipHop.com: Strategy-wise, has it been easier preparing for Mora?
Mosley: With Mora he gives more angles. He switches between right-handed and southpaw, so its a little different. Its a little hard to prepare for someone whose style is kind of crazy. But Im doing pretty good.
AllHipHop.com: The junior middleweight division is getting strong with Pacquiao, Margarito, Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams. Assess the landscape of the division from your perspective.
Mosley: A lot of guys are moving from 47 to 54. Overall Id say its one of the best divisions in the sport.
AllHipHop.com: If you win, would you be ready to go right after one of the champions?
Mosley: Yes, I think I can go at one of the world champions right now! But I would have had to sit on the sidelines and Id rather not wait again. Sergio Mora was the best opportunity right now.
AllHipHop.com: Speaking of sitting on the sidelines, much of that was out of your control like the Haiti earthquake canceling the Berto fight. Being that youve just turned 39, how active do you want to be going forward?
Mosley: Next if I can get in the ring soon with the Pacquiao-Margarito winner or a Cotto rematch that would be great.
AllHipHop.com: You werent able to get Pacquiao in 2009, but you did face Margarito. How do you see their matchup going?
Mosley: I think Pacquiao comes out on top because he throws a lot of punches and hes accurate. Margarito is definitely a tough fighter. Hes throws a lot of punches and hes consistent. Styles make fights and itll look completely different from when I fought him.
AllHipHop.com: Golden Boy has been stacking the undercard recently for their PPV fights. Is there anyone youre looking forward to seeing as a fan?
Mosley: I definitely want to see how Victor Ortiz and Saul Alvarez do as young guys. They are hot prospects coming up. Daniel Ponce de Leon is a good puncher. The undercard will be real exciting.
AllHipHop.com: Victor Ortiz mentioned you as someone that gave him good encouragement after he was upset by Marcos Maidana last year. Do you remember what you said to him?
Mosley: I told him those kinds of things can happen when youve fought a lot of fights. But you just got to come back. With that fight all kinds of different things were going through his head. I told him to go home; figure things out and then say what you have to say [to media and fans]. I think he did that and here he is back to fighting.
AllHipHop.com: After such a great career, what is your motivation to keep fighting?
Mosley: Well, I love to fight. I love to do it and Im in great shape to do it and keep beating these guys. Theres still great fights out there for me, so why not go out there and fight them?
AllHipHop.com: Do you think fans have too much information about the contract issues like what happened with Haye and the Klitschkos and Mayweather-Pacquiao?
Mosley: Yeah I think they should be a little more secretive until after the fight. When fans know about these things it can make one fighter feel slighted if something gets out. So that would help if the fans did not know as much.
AllHipHop.com: The biggest non-fight of the year is Mayweather-Pacquiao. If they did fight who is your pick?
Mosley: Thats a pick em fight, I really dont know. Mayweather is the better boxer, but Pacquiao has that southpaw stance to give Mayweather problems. So it can go either way.
AllHipHop.com: What strategy is going to work best for Mora? Will you be aggressive and walk him down, or use more a counter-punching approach?
Mosley: I think Ill have to mix both. Hes a mover so Ill have to pressure him, too. Hes bigger, so theres going to be a lot of punches thrown.
AllHipHop.com: Margarito was bigger size-wise than you, but you were actually stronger physically. Do you expect the same against Mora?
Mosley: Im not sure, but I do know Ill have more punching power. To me, that will be the difference.
AllHipHop.com: Alright Shane, good luck Saturday night. Any final words?
Mosley: Thanks for everything and you guys make sure you follow me on Twitter @SugarShaneM.
Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora airs live on PPV from LAs Staples Center tomorrow night (September 18) at 9PM ET. Ismael AbduSalaam is a senior staff writer for AllHipHop.com, and the creator of Beats, Boxing and Mayhem, a website specializing in boxing and Hip-Hop coverage.
When breaking broke down this fight, Shane Mosley trainer Naazim Richardson called Sergio Mora one of the most underrated fighters in boxing. Ever since appearing on the popular TV show The Contender, the fighter dubbed The Latin Snake has struggled to shed his reality series image and show fans that he indeed has the skills to be a top pound for pound fighter.
He appeared poised to do that when he scored a decision victory over Vernon Forrest in the summer of 2008 to pick up the WBC junior middleweight title. But the glory was short-lived, as Mora lost the belt three months later in rematch that was hampered by issues making weight. Fight cancelations would keep Mora out of the ring for all of 2009, and he finally returned in April with a tune-up bout on the undercard of Jones-Hopkins II.
Shane Mosley is no tune-up. Even at 39 years old, Sugar Shane represents the biggest fight of Moras life, and a chance to put a future Hall of Famers career to rest while breathing new life into his own. Its now or never.
AllHipHop.com: This is an intriguing fight for several reasons. First, a lot of people are speculating if you can even make 154 pounds anymore without being physically drained. What made you comfortable taking such a big fight at a weight youve recently had issues making?
Mora: Thats a good question and a legitimate concern, because when I defended my title in my last fight against Vernon Forrest, I had a real difficult time making that weight. I wasnt given enough time to prepare for it. It was made in like five weeks, so I only had that time to get down to that weight. But for this fight I had 10 weeks and thats exactly the amount of time I need to make this weight comfortably and strong. Im very prepared and my weight is fine. [Writer’s Note: At the weigh-in yesterday, Mora came in three pounds overweight at 157. After negotiating with Mosley’s camp and the California Athletic Commission, Mora lost the weight within an hour and came back at 153.6 pounds. He will lose 20% of his purse to Mosley.]
AllHipHop.com: Youve always had a high punch output, but in your last fight I noticed you were very aggressive in looking for the knockout. Shanes a better fighter, but will you be approaching this bout the same way?
Mora: I definitely have to be more careful with Shane. Shanes a powerful, very fast, and experienced fighter. In my last fight, youre right; I had planned on being more aggressive. I was off for a long time. I had two fights that were canceled with Kelly Pavlik and Daniel Edouard. I was coming off a 16 month layoff, and I was very spiteful and bitter. I wanted to take it out on my opponent. I was rusty for about two and half rounds. It literally came off and then it was on.
AllHipHop.com: A lot of people have written Shane off because of how badly he looked in May against Mayweather. But, its really hard to gauge that considering he was in there with one of the best defensive fighters in the world. When you looked at that fight and the previous one against Margarito, do you see any noticeable decline in Mosley?
Mora: I look at the Mayweather fight and see that he took a couple steps back. But he was fighting the best defensive and overall boxer in the world in Floyd Mayweather. Then you include his age and coming off a 16 month layoff. With those factors of course he would look horrible, but he still had a chance to take Mayweather out in the second round.
I think hes more of a power puncher now. Hes always tried to take you out, but before he tried to do it more aggressively. Now he does it more in a counter-punching kind of way. I think hes still dangerous; he proved that in the fight before with Margarito. Ive been sparring with Margarito for over 10 years, and I know how tough it is to hurt that guy. And for Shane to knock him out the way he did, it was destruction! That tells me this guy has a lot left. One bad night doesnt mean hes done.
AllHipHop.com: This year Ive had to talk more about why fights werent happening than big fights being made. Because contract issues are being leaked and fans know so much, do you think thats a detriment to the business aspect of the sport?
Mora: I made this prediction about 10 years ago. Im not a computer literate person. I think theres too much information out there. Thats the reason I dont have a Facebook, Myspace or a Twitter. Privacy is not there anymore. It relates to your question; fans dont need to know all that.
Before, it was about the mystery of two fighters in camp sweating and sparring. You know who was ready on fight night by the look in their eyes in the ring. Now you can follow them on Twitter, Hey Im picking up my groceries. Then you can go to Ustream and Youtube. You know what theyre doing. Floyd is on 24/7 throwing money around and acting like a fool at clubs.
I dont like it, you dont need all that. You just need to prepare and fans should be spectators. They dont need to follow a person. Boxers arent supermen, theyre just normal people. This is our profession. They get too carried away with everything else.
AllHipHop.com: Is this trip back to junior middleweight just for the payday or will you be staying in this division?
Mora: Wherever the money is, thats where Ill take the opportunity. I think the middleweight division is suffering. Kelly Pavlik was carrying that division for a long time, and hes been a disappointment for the last year and a half to two years because of the staph infection. There has been a lot of questions about his determination, heart and work ethic.
The junior middleweight division is very exciting. You got Pacquiao, Margarito, Paul Williams, and Sergio Martinez. I think this is where the money is and this is where Id like to have my big fights.
AllHipHop.com: Whos impressed you the most at 154?
Mora: I like [Sergei] Dzinziruk. He establishes pace with the jab. Thats the first time Ive ever seen him fight although hes been around the game a long time. Dzinziruk didnt wow me with combinations, but he definitely impressed me with how hes been around so long and been a champ. Hes really good at what he does. He has a great jab and is a good 1-2 puncher. He maintains the fights pace really well.
Kermit Cintron is off and on. He looks bad then he looks good. Hes inconsistent but hes still up there.
James Kirkland was on the fast rise up there. I had him in camp for two months, and hes really tough. I told him when he was in camp with me that his problems were going to be outside the ring. Sure enough, it came true.
Sergio Martinez moved up to middleweight but hes still a [natural] junior middleweight. Hes a force to be reckoned with.
K9 Cornelius Bundrage, Ive always liked him. Hes a solid fighter with a great work ethic from a fighting town in Detroit. Hes a newly crowned champ and I know what thats like. But I think hell take things serious and surprise people.
AllHipHop.com: Youre a boxer that was able to engage fans with your personality on The Contender, and even in the ring when you do a little showboating. Do you think image is just as if not more important to your success than what you do in the ring?
Mora: Yeah, I believe so. There are a lot of guys who have all the talent, but just have no flavor or style. Ill give you a perfect example. Paul Williams is one of the best fighters in the world pound for pound. Yet theres no aura around him, he has no personality and the wrong kind of flash. Paul Williams should be 10 times bigger than he is.
It has nothing to do with his fighting. I dont care, I like Paul. Me and him fought on the same cards and I love his people. But the mainstream doesnt accept that. The same way they dont accept me because I was on a television show. They have a hard time accepting me as one of the best fighters in the division because I was a reality TV star. Ive suffered the same thing.
AllHipHop.com: How hard or easy has it been to block out your friendship with Shane going into this fight?
Mora: One thing about athletes is that were all very competitive. Were not close friends but we are friends. Ive known him for 10 years, but we understand that this is a business. This is what we do. This is our education, and how we make a living and feed ourselves. Even though were friends, there are people in our lives much more important than Sergio Mora and Shane Mosley. So we have to go out there and do our jobs well to maintain our reputations. Once you start slipping those opportunities become bleaker and bleaker. Those paydays become less and less. So we have to be on our toes thats for sure.
AllHipHop.com: A lot of this is out of your control and comes down to available dates, but if you had your way how quickly do you want to be back in the ring?
Mora: Well, Im gonna have my way. I have to have my way. Im very motivated and focused on this fight. After this fights over I need one more fight by the end of the year. So I plan on fighting in December. Golden Boy has a lot of dates, and I hear Amir Khan is fighting in December and so is Bernard Hopkins. Id love to get on either undercard.
AllHipHop.com: Whats your prediction on Pacquiao-Margarito?
Mora: I think Pacquiao wins it very easily for about 7-8 rounds. Margarito will be cut and bruised up. But if Pacquiao is not careful and gets a little reckless, he can get caught with something late. It all depends on how he reacts to getting caught late, because Margarito is going to land something. More than likely itll be an uppercut. And thats a punch that can land on Pacquiao when he rushes in with his 1-2s. If he can withstand those shots Pacquiao wins an easy decision. If not Margarito knocks him out late. Im going for Margarito but I think Pacquiao wins a decision.
AllHipHop.com: Khan-Maidana is now signed. How do you see that one?
Mora: Well Ive never thought much about Amir Khan. I think anyone who can get knocked out in the first minute of the first round doesnt have what it takes to be great. I do think he has a lot of natural ability, size and talent. Hes like a young De La Hoya. De La Hoya was huge when he started boxing at 135 and 140. He overpowering and outspeeding everyone. Thats where I think Amir Khan is at now. Once he starts picking up the caliber of fighters with that suspect chin, hes going to have some problems.
Amir Khan beats Maidana. Maidana has been outboxed before. I think he outboxes him easily. Khan will have problems with guys like Devon Alexander. I think Timothy Bradley beats him. Itll be guys with a game plan, some pop, and are relentless.
AllHipHop.com: Any final thoughts?
Mora: Im very excited and prepared to fight another legend in Shane Mosley. It should be a night of unexpected fireworks. People think hes on his way out and people think I cant box, so there is going to be some surprises.
AllHipHop.com: Great interview Sergio and best of luck on Saturday.
Mora: Thank you very much.

This is who you call the truest/out the newest fold/to people watching our every move like The Truman Show. —Black Milk, Deadly Medley
Its an ambitious title. Yet, Black Milk is an ambitious artist. Before he could buy a drink, he was contributing music to Slum Village and building a name for himself as a producer. Manning the boards for much of Trinity, Detroit Deli: A Taste of Detroit, and B.R. Gunna- Dirty District Vol. 2; it was the death of his mentor and friend, J. Dilla, that finally pushed him out of the shadow of a giant.
As a Producer/Rapper, who is very good at both and with his Detroit roots and sound, comparisons to Dilla came quickly to Black. He was crowned the next best thing and heir to the throne, however, Black Milks work ethic and tenacity would soon allow him to carve his own path and establish his own notoriety and fan base. His own unusual name is now synonymous with hits.
Its been through diligence (no pun intended) that Black has carved out his own niche and become a critically acclaimed artist beloved and respected by fans around the world as well as other rap artists. Despite industry politics, like little to no local airplay, Black has successfully released a solo album a year, except 2009, for the last five years. Beginning with Sound of the City, when he broke ties with Barak Records in 2005, Broken Wax (EP), 2006, Popular Demand (2007), Tronic (2008) and now Album of the Year; which is released on FatBeats Records/Decon. Not to mention collaborations like CalTroit (with Bishop Lamont), The Setup (with Fat Ray), The Preface (with Elzhi), and Random Axe (with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson).
With Album of the Year, Black Milk takes us on a musical journey of the last year of his life. The album is full of his usual masterful production and crate digging skills, a newer addition is more live instrumentation, including drums from Daru Jones, bass from Tim Shellaberger and horn and string arrangement from Sam Beaubien. The live instrumentation adds another layer of complexity to rich musical landscape that Black paints with music and words like a master.
Keep Going, is one of the best tracks on the album and its just the third track in. It continues to go uphill from there. Over Again is an ode to those who hustle for a living, vocalist Monica Blaire provides a great compliment on the thought-provoking track that asks, Why do I even bother?/Seems like it just gets harder/to do it over again. Album of the Year features ONLY Detroit artists, like Black and Brown featuring Danny Brown, who lyrically stands out on every performance. Warning, one of the 4 tracks that Black Milk flows on alone, causes a bit of a lag toward the end. The track sounds too much like another that he produced (Stupid, Dirty District 2) and is the albums only skip-worthy song. Any flaws in Album of the Year, of which there are few, are redeemed by the monster single, Deadly Medley featuring Royce Da 59 and Elzhi. Despite the fact that it features three extraordinary emcees, the song doesnt sound like they are trying to outdo each other, instead they seem to compliment each other. However, with lines like: Seems/they love when Im performing/they laugh at your performance/my s**t is Martin Luther/your s**t is Martin Lawrence. Black Milk reminds listeners whose album this is. Royce goes in as usual proclaiming shoulders with his whole, entire city on. Elzhi shines as well, Its fatality/to ever try to handle me like a piano key.
Finally, Album of the Year closes with a feature from Mr. Porter nee Denaun Porter, a legendary producer in his own right, member of D12, who is currently filling large shoes as Eminems hype man, a void left by Proof. Mr. Porter adds lush vocals on the hook of a track that gives shout outs to those both here and gone that have contributed to Blacks musical life. Album of the Year is an excellent effort from an incredible artist well on his way to becoming one of the greatest to ever do it.

Kid Cudi and Wale are at odds and the fray has spilled into the public.
The bulk of the beef manifested itself in an interview with Complex magazine, where Kid Cudi explained that he was unf**kwittable. He said that Wale, a former friend, made reference to him where there was a comparison to various genres of sports.
Did you see that Wale interview that he just did, comparing us to sports? Let me clear this up: I’m incomparable to anybody. I don’t care how people take that. No one can compete with me. I’m unf**kwittable; no one can knock me off my s**t. I’m an unstoppable force, I’m a bullet. My trajectory is to the sky. N***as got to do something really spectacular to f**k with me and my realm, and n***as be so bitter that you hear it in their voice.
The freestyle from Wale made reference to an incident where Cudi punched a man that got on stage during his performance. Cudi also said that Kanye West, who signed the Cleveland rapper to G.O.O.D. Music, doesnt like Wales music.
On Twitter, Wale responded n***as lettin that liquid cocaine get to them…..lets go then. The remark is a slight to Cudis arrest in June on charges that he was using the substance. Cudi has since admitted to using it.
Cudi said he would no longer tolerate disrespect his interview with Complex.
The last album, I let people dis me, throw out those jabs in their verses and have their little slick remarks. This time around, I’m not f*cking around. I have no time to think about other n***as. These other mother***ers like feeding off another n***a’s energy, so they mention their name. You hear me talk about n***as? I don’t even talk about Kanye, and that’s my homeboy! They talk about Kanye like they’re bosom buddies with this n***a. Talking about “I be in Hawaii”man, shut the f### up, why you got to tell everybody everything? Then people like Wale get mad that ‘Ye ain’t give him no beats’Ye ain’t give you no beats because we ain’t f***ing with your raps. It’s not a conspiracy theory. We don’t f*ck with you musically, so we’re not going to provide music for you. The s**t is a service, it’s a quality of a certain standard. N***as are just so thirsty it’s ridiculous. I’ve been eating humble pie forever, and people still call me an a**hole. These people don’t know my f***ing lifenow I’m going to give them something to talk about.”
Wale has not commented further.
(AllHipHop News) Foxy Brown’s brother/former manager Gavin Marchand appeared in court yesterday to plead not guilty to identity theft charges, but was rearrested on the spot afterwards. According to the New York Daily News, Marchand pleaded not guilty after he was caught with three associates at designer store Hermes, using a forged American Express card. The men allegedly attempted to buy $7,882 worth of merchandise from the upscale store, but undercover officers doing surveillance foiled their scheme. The men then allegedly led police on a high speed chase, hitting speeds of up to 90-MPH in Manhattan, before being busted. Prosecutors offered Marchand a plea deal and prison sentence of 3 1/2 – 7 years, which he rejected. Yesterday (September 16th) in court, after Marchand pleaded not guilty to the charges, he was rearrested on more Grand Larceny charges. Marchand, 35, faces up to 15 years in prison on the original identity theft charges. In related news, Gavin Marchand’s sister Inga “Foxy Brown” Marchand appears to be staying out of trouble after several incidents in June. Foxy gave a surprise performance at Jamison Ernest’s Incubator fashion show and thanked her lawyers and Russell Simmons for giving her a break.
[Editor’s Note: I first saw and heard of Hud 3 Years ago at a music conference in Dallas, TX. Over the 3 years we reconnected and I saw growth , consistency and some great music. Check out this kid! – Steve Raze]Over the last two years, Dallas, TX artist Big Hud (named
Hud after his last name Hudson) has developed a resume that any artist in the
country would like to have. Having
had two songs featured on MTV Jamz (Whats Wrong Wit Em and Summertime Ish

no major machine behind what I got going on. Its coming straight out of the
heart and the grind and also a great management team. So thats a good look dog.
AllHipHop.com:
Now tell me a little bit about your inspiration. Are you originally from Dallas,
TX?
Big Hud: Yea Im from Dallas, born in Oak Cliff,
raised in Oak Cliff, moved and grew up in Desoto. Im from here man, I got a lot of roots, it aint too many
people out here I dont know out here man. It aint like I stayed somewhere else and then moved to
Dallas, you know. Born and raised
bro, my grandmamma from sunny South Dallas, from my daddy from Mobile, Alabama,
shout out to Prichard, Alabama, shout out to Rich Boy too. So yea Im from Dallas bro.
AllHipHop.com: So
talk to me about some of the collaborations that you have been working on. I
know you did a song with Curren$y on one joint, I know you had Juvenile on
another. We were just talking
about some stuff you were working on, tell me a little bit about what you got
coming up.
Big Hud: Man dog every
time I try and come out with something, I am always trying to push the envelope
man, you know? I just did the Big Boi Musik 1 with DJ Smallz, I did the Big Boi
Musik 2 with Bay Bay, and I got another project coming up called, The Benchmark,
and basically just stating that this is just like the judgment day, thats just
like stating my introduction to the world.
You know with the Summertime Ish it was like a lot of
people started recognizing, and
you know with the Whats wrong Wit Em was cool, but the Curren$y
collaboration raised a lot more eyebrows.
So its kind of like while I got everyones attention, its like let em
see what I got. I got an arsenal
man! I might be doing some stuff with Yelawolf coming up, shout out to Yealwolf. My boy XV, of course Tum Tum, Inertia,
Trai D, from the crib, so its a lot of stuff bro, and Im just making music
everyday man, and its what I enjoy doing.
So it aint, more or less about that hit record, but about being
consistent. The more I can be
consistent, the more fans I can reach and the more of a following I can build,
and once I get that steam, there aint no stopping me.
AllHipHop.com: So you are a Dallas artist, Dallas has
been getting more attention as a city, how do you feel abour your place in that
lineup of artists…So I just try to
touch everything and I just feel like that’s my place man.
Big Hud: Damn, man. My
place bro, I honestly think I have created my own lane out here. Besides whats
going on, I dont really have to put it out there, man it is what it is, its a
lot of love in the city and when I go out of town people are like Man you from
Dallas? Thats whats up! and I know back in the day, it definitely wasnt like
that. At the end of the day, its
various types of lanes, and some songs might be ahead of other songs on the
national scene at this point in time, but the lane I represent is letting
people know theres another side to Dallas. Im not extra hard core, talking
about blowing your brains out and all that man. I represent more of the fly
guy, fly s### man, f###### women pretty women man [laughs] and do that type of thing man. And just let n##### know its not about
the fancy car and flashy chain, but its definitely real life situations going
on in here man. So I just try to
touch everything and I just feel like that’s my place man. I just try to be myself and I say in my
jam, I stay in my own lane HOV man.
So thats me and where I stand man, Much love to my city, Im Triple D
to the heart. Like I told you man,
Im from this mothaf***a, so you know man, this is where Im from bro. It is what it is. I can say what I can say, what other
people cant say cause they aint from here man. When it comes to somebody outside the city, Im gonna stick
up for my city every time.
AllHipHop.com:
Now you have been touring a lot recently, where have you been at?
Big Hud: I just came from Kansas City last
weekend. Shooting to Milwaukee in the morning, I got a flight in the morning,
gonna holla at Tony Neal, shout out to the Core DJs. I think next week I got something
going on in Oklahoma. Should be
going out to Arizona soon, Denver, so you know, I got a lot of people thats
messing with me man. Definitely going to take a trip out to the Bay. The Bay messing with me. So right now its just strategic game
planning man. You know, Im just
doing what makes sense. If they mess with me in this region, then its going to
make sense to go in that region. If they mess with me in Oakland and they aint
messing with me in Alaska, then why the hell would I go to Alaska? So yeah, Ive just been on the road and
soaking it all in and taking it day by day and it can get tiring, but at the
end of the day I am an entertainer, and thats what I do so, thats what it is.
AllHipHop.com: Show money is good money.
Big Hud: Yessir!
AllHipHop.com: So you got The Benchmark coming up
whats coming up for you and whats next? Why did you decide to switch it up?
Big Hud: Its
almost like the Thank Me Later type thing man. Im gonna keep that Big Boi Musik 1 and 2, thats the
legendary series man. Its going
to make a lot more sense down the road.
You know after I drop the EP and drop the album we gonna take it back to
the roots with Big Boi Musik 3. Big Boi Musik is Hud when he didnt have anything man. Just to see how stuff has changed and
to have artists come up to me, and people reach out to me over hundred thousand
miles away, thats priceless bro so thats a good feeling.
So I wanted to do something different man with The
Benchmark, I want to push the envelope man with The Benchmark and its just
going to be a big sound. With the Big Boi Musik 2, people dont even think it
sounds like Dallas you know, but thats just because people havent heard that
side of Dallas music. I dont try
to my music appeal to one concrete area, I want it to appeal to the
masses. I had a DJ hit me up from
Germany this week and was asking for more music and he wanted me to put
together a cipher type freestyle, so they can support me in Germany. At the end of the day thats what its
about. I want to have a platinum record or song. Thats the beautiful thing about this music, its wide open. I be working hard man. Its definitely dope out here in Dallas.
