Faizon Love Jailed In Florida, Legal Troubles Mount

Faizon Love’s legal woes have deepened after authorities arrested the actor in Florida over a child support dispute.

Faizon Love is behind bars in Florida after a judge ordered his arrest in a long-running child support case. The matter adds another legal headache to the actor and comedian’s growing list of court battles.

Love, 58, was arrested June 16 and booked into a jail in Tampa on two counts of contempt of court. According to jail records, he is being held without bond.

The arrest stems from an ongoing paternity and child support dispute in which Love reportedly claimed he could not afford a $250,000 child support obligation.

The actor told the court that his highest gross income during the past five years was $13,000, according to court records. He also reportedly stated that he earned no income during the previous year.

Love failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing in April. A judge subsequently found him in contempt of court and ordered him to surrender himself to authorities in May.

When that did not happen, authorities moved forward with enforcement efforts. Love was ultimately located and taken into custody this week.

The comedian is known and even beloved for memorable roles in films like FridayThe Replacements and Elf.

Love is already dealing with a separate criminal case on the West Coast. Earlier this year, he was arraigned in San Diego on felony assault charges tied to an incident that allegedly occurred at a hotel in August 2024.

Prosecutors in that case allege Love threw a hotel credit card reader at a clerk during an altercation. The incident resulted in felony charges. The incidents are not related.

Love remains in custody as the court determines the next steps in the contempt case.
