FLICKS/RECAP: Odd Future, Raekwon, Asher Roth, Smoke DZA And More Tear It Down In NYC For Peter Rosenberg’s Birthday

FLICKS: RAEKWON, SMOKE DZA & ODD FUTURE CELEBRATE PETER ROSENBERG’S BIRTHDAY IN NYC

Late this week, Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg celebrated his birthday at the Best Buy Theater in New York City with his “Night of ‘Real’ Hip-Hop” concert, with performances and appearances from Odd Future, Frank Ocean, Raekwon, Asher Roth, Action Bronson, Smoke DZA, Nitty Scott MC, and more.

The night saw Smoke DZA bring his brand of “kush-raps” to a sold-out crowd that was primarily there to see their beloved Odd Future crew members, Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, perform a set full of their most well-known records. Before the night began, Rosenberg let the crowd know that, despite being billed as a Tyler and Earl show, “Unfortunately, the rest of Odd Future is here, too,” a statement that got a rousing applause from the nearly 2,200 people in attendance.

A high-energy set from Asher Roth, who was backed by a live band, also left a surprising impact on the show-goers, who gave the Pennsylvania native tons of love as he blazed through a number of tracks from his debut album Asleep In the Bread Aisle, as well as some newer music like “In the Kitchen.”

Before Odd Future hit the stage around 10:45PM, Wu-Tang co-founder Raekwon hit the stage and performed some of the group’s most iconic records such as “C.R.E.A.M.,” “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin Ta F Wit” and “Protect Ya Neck”, before performing some of his own classics tracks like “Ice Cream” and “Incarcerated Scarfaces”.
