Lebron James and The NBA Address Donald Sterling's Wife's Attempts To Keep The LA Clippers

(AllHipHop News) Last night (May 11th), Shelley Sterling stated she intended to fight any NBA sale of the Los Angeles Clippers during her first interview since her husband’s racist comments surfaced. A day prior to Mrs. Sterling’s interview, Lebron James gave a declarative statement announcing that the NBA players want EVERY member of the Sterling family out of the Clippers’ organization.

Shelley Sterling has owned the Los Angeles Clippers with her husband Donald Sterling since his purchase of the team back in 1981. When NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from the NBA he explicitly stated that his punishment of Mr. Sterling would not effect Sterling’s family members. On ABC World News, Mrs. Sterling implied that the NBA’s attempt at forcing her to sell the Clippers for her husband’s statements had sexist undertones:

I will fight that decision. To be honest with you, I’m wondering if a wife of one of the owners, and there’s 30 owners, did something like that, said those racial slurs, would they oust the husband? Or would they leave the husband in?

Hours before her interview, the NBA released a statement addressing the complicated nature of the sale. According to the NBA, their constitution does not discriminate punishment when one owner is banned:

Under the NBA constitution, if a controlling owner’s interest is terminated by a 3/4 vote, all other team owners’ interests are automatically terminated as well.It doesn’t matter whether the owners are related as is the case here. These are the rules to which all NBA owners agreed to as a condition of owning their team.

Lebron James also spoke on Mrs. Sterling’s attempt at keeping the Clippers’ team in the Sterling family this past Saturday (May 10th). Speaking for the NBA players, James claims removing all members of the Sterling family would be the “what’s right”:

As players, we want what’s right and we don’t feel like no one in his family should be able to own the team

“Mrs. Sterling implied that the NBA’s attempt at forcing her to sell the Clippers for her husband’s statements had sexist undertones”

OH!!!!!!!! so she is using the “Sex” card…………wow silly knee grows……. now lets see how many women publicly say things that silly knee growss say.

how many women is going to talk about NOT playing the “Sex” Card

how many women is going to speak out against her and say, just because she is a women dont mean im standing with her.

lets read more of this classic example of what happens when black men REFUSE to be treated like men and rather be treated like property.

“I will fight that decision. To be honest with you, I’m wondering if a wife of one of the owners, and there’s 30 owners, did something like that, said those racial slurs, would they oust the husband? Or would they leave the husband in?”

WOW…….who woulda thunk in 2014 this old white women have more BALLS then young black men.

“As players, we want what’s right and we don’t feel like no one in his family should be able to own (us) the team”- Lebron James

    • SBRon

Yeah, and back in the day, this old hooka posed as a Housing Inspector to gain entry into the units of the “undesirable” tenants, etc,,,Bottom Line, she’s no different than her husband’s old, pasty ass!!!

      • Brooklyn Stoop

thats why from day one every black player no matter the team shoulda made a collective agreement to shut the playoff down until this matter was dealt with and i bet they woulda ran the sterlings out of town. but when your bark is louder then the bite…….who the hell gonna be scared of the dog

      • SBRon

True dat! Either the Sterlings are BOTH gone or the case better be in court by late September/early October (camp/pre-season), or I hope not to see (black) Clipper players going about their normal routines like everything’s sweet…

      • Brooklyn Stoop

if the clippers player stopped playing (since they was in the playoffs) that woulda sent a strong message to ALL owners, them not playing woulda made the sponsors pulling out of the clippers even more of a big deal, which woulda made the fans not show up cause again the players isnt playing. so that takes care of the clippers org……….but lets not forget the clippers ARE in the playoff so now we got away games. this team have to play the clippers…………but the clippers arent playing etc etc etc that move woulda sent ripples through out the league…………and we know that, but somehow someone convinced us that turning your shirt inside out is “revolutionary” and winning games for your racist owner shows the world that the team is better then the racist coach. but at the end it shows the other owners that we got these knee grows exactly where we want them…………and need them to be. i mean damn, lebrons “decision” struck fear in the NBA………what you think boycotting wouldve done…..especially during the playoff! Damn we dropped the ball

      • SBRon

I agree, but this is a whole new era in sports…and it ain’t a good look for the most part!! Doc & the gang are goin for the chip, and after tying up the series, they still have action!! So, another way to look at it is, what if they win a ring while dude was banished from his own team?!? Meaning, after 30+ years of mediocrity with him at the helm, they win it all within like a quarter of a season from having his punk ass gone…?!? Further builds the case for PERMANENT BANISHMENT & RELINQUISHING OF OWNERSHIP!!

      • Brooklyn Stoop

But he aint gone……..and now the fam is trying to keep ownership. so if they do win……….the sterling fam still wins.
“they” cant force him out cause the sterlings will sue
but what im saying is if they DIDNT play then it would be stupid easy to get dude out………….time will tell at the end of the day, but i wanna see how many season go by before the sterlings is out of here

  • TheAkademik

Respect to Lebron for making that clear. The players are too powerful as a collective. Now back to fighting the racism that doesn’t make the news

  • therealjjohnson

With all due respect…how can you just make a statement blanket statement like “we don’t feel like no one in his family should be able to own the team” ? No one in the entire family? Do you even know these people? I for one hold different views than a lot of my family members. I don’t want to be held accountable for another person’s viewpoint. This statement is geared more towards the anyone in his family line, versus his wife specifically.

    • Raheem Classick

LBJ is A NBA member and he knows the rules of the association, So yeah no sterling should own the Clippers.

      • therealjjohnson

I appreciate your comment but i don’t think you addressed the point of my post. I also don’t believe there is a rule stating if a family member has racist views then your entire family can no longer do business with the NBA.

      • justmathoughts

true but there is a rule which states that if something or someone is bad for business they can be voted out……donald sterling and the sterling name is bad for nba business right now

      • Raheem Classick

My bad, Here is the rest > “Under the NBA Constitution, if a controlling owner’s interest is
terminated by a 3/4 vote, all other team owners’ interests are
automatically terminated as well,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a
statement. “It doesn’t matter whether the owners are related as is the
case here. These are the rules to which all NBA owners agreed to as a
        condition of owning their team.”

    • smokngreen

BS. his wife was also named in several discrimination lawsuit related to their real estate properties. She has had several people testify against her regarding racist actions. Just cause she didn’t get caught on tape..doesnt mean she feels any different than him about minorities..

  • Sean Taylor

    Lebron caption:
Ay yo Chris Bosh, I’m gay too….tehehehehehe

  • ZUBU

Give the Sterlings their money and politely show them the door…

  • jd

This is one thing LBJ has done better than MJ:Speak up when needed. Respect to that man.

    • SBRon

      That’s my word!!

    • smokngreen

until this situation, MJ has never spoke up on ANYTHING. Which is really sad. I live in Chicago…and kids out here shooting each other over his shoes…and he doesn’t care…and least he doesn’t show it

      • MrsOno

Exactly!!! He didn’t care in the 80’s or 90’s when it was going on also. I know my little $200 will not break this man, but guess what he will never get a penny from me for the exact reasons you stated.

      • Terrance Goodman

Use to pay for his yearly basketball camps. We saw PIPPEN WAY MORE

  • Hybrid Entertainment

well I guess there stock is gonna drop once again unless all sterlings are removed

  • Hybrid Entertainment

they should just get all white players on the clippers lol
