Dr. Dre Is Backing Anthony Joshua In His Fight Against Wladimir Klitschko

DR. DRE BACKS ANTHONY JOSHUA TO WIN BOXING TITLE FIGHT

(AllHipHop News) Dr. Dre called British boxer Anthony Joshua to wish him luck ahead of his heavyweight title fight with Wladimir Klitschko tonight (April 29).

The 27-year-old fighter will defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) championship belt against the Ukrainian, 41, in front of 90,000 fans at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The winner will also be crowned as the World Boxing Association’s (WBA) heavyweight champion.

N.W.A. rapper Dre, a big fan of the Britisher boxer, took time to call Joshua before he steps into the ring. The transcript of the conversation has been released by Dre’s electronics brand, Beats by Dre.

“What’s up brother, you good? Wish you good luck man. You know what I gotta tell you, right now you’re one of my favorite fighters man,” Dre started.

Joshua responded by telling the hip-hop star that he was one of his “favorite musicians” and that he had been listening to the musician’s 1993 hit Let Me Ride to help motivate him ahead of the big fight.

The 52-year-old rapper added, “Good luck this Saturday man, you probably won’t need it.”

Joshua has also collaborated with the rapper to design a range of headphones for Beats by Dre, which is now owned by Apple Inc.

The headphones feature an image of the map of Africa etched on to them. Joshua, whose parents hail from Nigeria, has the same image tattooed on his shoulder.

British bookmakers have Joshua as the favorite to win the blockbuster heavyweight match-up, despite Klitschko going undefeated as heavyweight champion for almost a decade until losing to another Brit, Tyson Fury, in 2015.
