Tee Grizzley Talks Getting Public Co-Signs From Jay-Z & LeBron James (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Getting a co-sign from one of the greatest emcees of all time and one of the greatest NBA players of all time is amazing recognition for a new artist.

Tee Grizzley received that honor when Jay-Z shouted him out on Twitter and LeBron James posted a video of himself jamming to the “First Day Out” single.

Hot 97’s Nessa asked Grizzley about being snubbed as a 2017 XXL Freshman, but the 23-year-old artist was more focused on being appreciative of the acknowledgment from the two superstars.

“I understand what position [XXL] was in. They were making their decisions before I really shot through the roof,” said Tee. “But the same week I didn’t make it, I got LeBron rocking with me, Jay-Z rocking with me. That was better than making the XXL to me.”

Jay’s mentioning of Tee Grizzley came during the Brooklyn icon’s June tweet storm celebrating his induction into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

“T grizzley song best out,” tweeted Hov at the time.

The Detroit rapper shared his reaction to seeing that social media post, “I thought the page was fake. I was like, ‘Man, who done made a fake page to try to geek my head up?’ Until I actually went on [Twitter], then I was like, ‘Who played this song for Jay-Z?'”

According to Tee, Roc Nation affiliate Meek Mill told him Jay is a big fan of his music.

In recent weeks, Grizzley has been collaborating with several East Coast based rappers like Cardi B, Fabolous, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and Don Q.

Following his My Moment mixtape, the 300 Entertainment act’s studio album is currently in the works.

Sylvester Stallone Confirms Ivan Drago Will Appear In ‘Creed II’

(AllHipHop News) “If he dies, he dies” is one of the most famous quotes from 1980’s cinema.

That line was delivered in 1985’s Rocky IV by the character Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) right after he killed Apollo Creed in the boxing ring.

Drago could be coming back to the big screen in the sequel about Creed’s son Adonis.

Original Rocky screenwriter/actor Sylvester Stallone hinted about the return of the Russian fighter in Creed II.

“JUST DONE …. if you are curious, around 439 handwritten pages translates into about a 120 page typed screenplay …#writers cramp #rockybalboa #drago #adoniscreed #MGM,” wrote Stallone on Instagram.

Of course, the “drago” hashtag grabbed people’s attention immediately with fans of the franchise hoping to possibly see a second generation Creed vs Drago bout.

While the first Creed was clearly focused on the sport of boxing, Hip Hop played a significant role in the 2015 Ryan Coogler-directed motion picture.

Philadelphia rapper Tone Trump had a supporting part in the movie.

Tessa Thompson starred as Adonis Creed’s (Michael B. Jordan) love interest Bianca, a music artist partially inspired by the late Hip Hop/R&B vocalist Aaliyah.

In addition, the Creed soundtrack was filled with songs by some of the biggest names in modern rap such as Meek Mill, The Roots, Joey Bada$$, Vince Staples, Donald Glover, and Tory Lanez.

Young Dro And Spodee Go Back And Forth Over Snitching Allegations

(AllHipHop Rumors) What the hell is going on? I don’t know what is going on!!!!! Who is Spodee and why is he beefing with Young Dro? Anyway, beef is all the rage now and going back and forth on social media is too. So, instead of talking or even DMing they are “arguing” over social media. This is crazy! Both Spodee and Dro seem to be official dudes, but they begin to scare me when they talk crazy like this. I think it is all snitching and dry snitching! It just seems strange to be talking about “who’s gun” in an open setting like the internet. The case is still open. At any rate, with Dro being the bigger artist…Spo probably should have taken the charge. They don’t seem to have any weed carriers to do that like the old days. See below.

R. Kelly Reportedly Hires Bill Cosby’s Former Attorney Monique Pressley

(AllHipHop News) According to reports, Robert “R.” Kelly is turning to a woman that was once a central part of Bill Cosby’s legal team.

It appears Kelly is hoping veteran lawyer Monique Pressley can help him in his latest public relations fiasco.

The British publication Daily Mail claims the R&B singer hired the DC-based Pressley Firm.

Pressley, an ordained minister, was often seen on television defending Cosby regarding allegations he sexually assaulted numerous women.

She stepped down as part of the comedian’s legal defense last August.

Like Cosby, Kelly has been accused of sexually related crimes during his career.

In 2008, he was found not guilty of child pornography.

Recently, R. Kelly was accused of being involved in abusive and controlling relationships with several young women.

The 50-year-old Chicago native has denied the allegations.

Another attorney, Linda Mensch, stated on her client’s behalf, “Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”

Drake’s New Tat Takes Bromance To New Heights

(AllHipHip Rumors) The whole internet is ABUZZ! No, its not Donald Trump related. No, it has nothing to do with Black Liberation. No, it is not about 60,000 missing black women or children. It is: DRAKE GOT A LIL WAYNE TAT! Yes! All over the Hip-Hop Nation, people are questioning Drake’s motives for getting a pic of Weezy tatted on his body.

Yes, the headline was salacious for a reason! But I don’t see anything wrong with this tattoo. I think – in opinion – it is a dope homage to his downtrodden homie. Wayne changed Drake’s life crazy. So, I think this is cool. The Game did the same with Dr. Dre and others that he has tatted on his body. I need to get Malcolm X tatted on me or something. Anyway, check out the tat…

Killer Mike Addresses Reports Rudy Giuliani Might Replace Jeff Sessions As Attorney General

(AllHipHop News) News out of Washington, D.C. is that the President is considering replacing his current Attorney General Jeff Sessions with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The “palace intrigue” taking place at the White House could have real life implications on policies that affect every American.

Hip Hop artist and political activist Killer Mike was questioned about the possibility Donald Trump may give Sessions the boot in order to put Giuliani in the A.G. position.

“I hope not, but Jeff is pretty bad too,” responded Mike.

The Run The Jewels member added, “At least Giuliani has had to deal with other cultures, and at least he’ll be open… I don’t think either one of them are better than the other because both of them support [the] Drug War which is a racist thing. But Sessions scares the sh-t out of me.”

Killer Mike was one of the most high-profile supporters of Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primaries, but he is now focusing his attention on local elections like the mayoral race in his hometown.

At the moment, Mike is backing Georgia State Senator Vincent Fort for Atlanta mayor.

Tyler, The Creator Touches Stephen Colbert’s Butt & Performs “911” On ‘The Late Show’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) People are still debating whether Tyler, The Creator is really gay or if he is just trolling the world.

Tyler’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will just further add to the “Is he?” discussion.

After Colbert introduced the 26-year-old entertainer, Tyler entered in boxer shorts and took the opportunity to get extra close with the host.

“Tyler, I want to point out that when you came out here, you just touched me on the butt,” said Colbert when the two sat down to start the interview.

“No, I didn’t. You have no proof,” Tyler replied.

“We have it on camera. What do you mean you have no proof?” Colbert shot back. “If we worked together, I’d have to report you to H.R. right now.”

The Flower Boy album creator also performed “911” on the CBS talk show.

(AllHipHop Rumors) LORD. Rapper are going through it! Webbie is…well notable. The brother apparently and allegedly had a seizure ON SOCIAL MEDIA! I don’t know all that Webster is involved with so I am not judging him, but he goes through a myriad of emotions when all of this happens. All of this allegedly and apparently happened on the way to the hospital. DAMN!” “PRAISE THE LORD AND THANK YOU JESUS FOR FOR NOW! FOR RIGHT NOW I DON’T CARE WHO DON’T LIKE ME! PRAY FOR ME! Mike Tyson Reveals He Was Molested As A Child

(AllHipHop News) Boxer-turned-actor Mike Tyson has revealed a childhood molestation turned him into a fighting machine.

The “Hangover” star was talking about his challenging childhood in Brooklyn, New York during an ESPN E:60 interview with old pal Jeremy Schapp when he let slip he had been the victim of a local pervert who dragged him into a building and “molested” him.

Tyson immediately tried to change the subject but Schapp persisted, revealing that in all their pre and post-fight chats over the years, the fighter had never opened up about the drama.

“It was nobody’s business to know,” Tyson said, becoming defensive. “It doesn’t make me any less of a man, because it happened. It’s just something that happened, not a big impact in my life.”

But the former champion then told Schapp the experience, his childhood bullies and the gangs that ruled his neighborhood, inspired Tyson to toughen up, develop a thick skin and hit the gym.

The unusually candid star had to stop the interview with the sports reporter at one point as he teared up while recalling his late mentor C## D’Amato, who took charge of Tyson’s boxing career when the sportsman was a teenager.

D’Amato died in 1985.

Jay-Z Spotify Ban Could Be Costing Him $1 Million A Week

(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z is reportedly sacrificing up to $1 million a week by refusing to allow his new album to stream on the Spotify music service.

The rap mogul released 4:44 exclusively on his Tidal streaming app last month, before making it available on other services, including Apple Music, but the album remains absent from Spotify.

Industry insiders tell Billboard.com the decision could be costing Jay-Z hundreds of thousands of dollars, based on payments collected by other top artists.

The hip-hop superstar, who pulled his back catalog from Spotify earlier this year, has yet to comment on the report, but other musicians, like Taylor Swift, have previously spoken out against the company in a disagreement over royalty fees.

Swift removed her music from the site in 2014, but recently allowed her tunes to be streamed online again last month.

It’s unlikely the new dad will be concerned about missing out on the Spotify funds – earlier this year, Beyonce’s husband placed second on Forbes magazine’s World’s Richest Rappers list with an estimated net worth of $810 million, $10 million behind pal Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Jay-Z and Beyonce, who recently welcomed twins, were also declared a billion-dollar supercouple in May, with a combined wealth of $1.16 billion, according to Forbes experts.

Can Trap Music Only Come Out Of Atlanta?

(AllHipHop Rumors) 21 Savage has recently made a very interesting claim!

The Alanta rapper stopped by Everyday Struggle today to discuss a number of things including his project ‘Issa Album’. While chatting with DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden, 21 claimed that trap music is only trap music if it’s coming out of Atlanta.

21 said that trap music isn’t just about 808-driven music, as he explained that he believes that trap-influenced music from other cities can’t really be considered trap. This seems odd because there are clearly “traps” in other cities and states!

21 Savage also defined trap music as a combination of beats, lyrics, and location.

“Just because some sh-t got an 808, that don’t mean it’s trap music… If I get on a New York type throwback beat and I sing about rock, is that hip-hop? If a rock star get on a JAY-Z beat and sing a rock star song, is that hip-hop? Just because a n-gga on an 808 beat, that don’t make it trap. These n-ggas don’t know nothing about the trap… Trap is some Atlanta sh-t… Me, Thug, Future, Migos, 2 Chainz. You gotta be from Atlanta. Atlanta is some trap sh-t. Trap is some Atlanta sh-t… It’s not about the beat, it’s about what you’re saying,” said 21 Savage.

He went on to cite Atlanta rappers like T.I., Gucci Mane, and Jeezy as examples of what trap music really is.

Do you agree with 21? If not, what are some tracks that you would consider to be trap music from places outside of ATL? I personally think 21’s claim is a bit flawed. Carry on.

Drake’s Stripper Ex Tells Him That No Man Can Retire Her!

(AllHipHop Rumors) While a lot of strippers have retired and moved up in the world, Drake’s ex, Maliah Michel, just can’t seem to let go.

I don’t know if it’s because she likes the lifestyle and flexibility, needs the money and hasn’t found another way to make some, or if she just truly likes shaking her azz.

Anyway, Drake recently saluted three well-known strippers, Rick Ross‘ ex, Lira Mercer, his own ex, Maliah Michel, and Miracle Watts.

Drizzy claimed that the women had paid their dues, and he retired them with a spoofed sports-inspired jersey ceremony.

Maliah apparently couldn’t just go with the flow and decided to clap back at the retirement.

She took to her Instagram page saying,

“Contrary to “social media news” no man can retire me. I’m shaking this azz into a wheel chair. Maliah will retire Maliah. #MaliahMondays.”

Lira was cool with it,

“Wow , made strip club history tonight. Got in , got out .. STILL relevant ??‍♀️S/O to the BOY !! @Drake,” she tweeted.

Many people have wondered why have Maliah’s stripper peers surpassed her. What are your thoughts?

Jay-Z Explains Killing His Ego In The ‘Footnotes For Kill Jay Z’ Visual (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In the latest episode of his Footnotes video series, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter explains why he had to destroy his own ego.

Footnotes for Kill Jay Z features the Brooklyn-raised wordsmith addressing the concept behind the opening track on his #1 album 4:44.

“It’s really about the ego, it’s about killing off the ego so we can have this conversation in a place of vulnerability and honesty,” says the legendary emcee. “Jay-Z, the public persona, couldn’t have this conversation. He has to be eliminated, he has to be moved. So it’s really Shawn Carter speaking to Jay-Z, and he has to convince him to move aside.”

The 4:44 visual accompaniment also includes appearances by Anthony Anderson, Van Jones, Trevor Noah, Mahershala Ali, Michael Che, Chris Rock, and Charlamagne Tha God.

Previously, Hov released Footnotes for the Story Of O.J. and Footnotes for 4:44.

Usher Hit With $40 New Lawsuit Over Herpes Claim

(AllHipHop News) A woman suing R&B star Usher has reportedly tested positive for herpes.

The plaintiff claims the “Yeah!” singer gave her the sexually transmitted disease during an alleged fling, and now she has tested positive she has increased her demands.

The woman, named as Jane Doe in court papers, says she was devastated when she got the results back on Saturday.

She initially sued the “U Got it Bad” star for $10 million after claiming they had unprotected sex earlier this year and now she’s doubling down for $20 million in punitive damages.

She also wants another $20 million for emotional harm and medical bills.

Birdman Shuts Down Tyga’s Claim That Cash Money Owes Him $12 Million!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Someone’s lying!

Now we can look at Lil Wayne’s case and a few other lawsuits and see that Birdman is no stranger to “owing” artists, so it actually seemed somewhat plausible to many that Birdman could actually owe Tyga some coins, like Tyga claimed recently. Well it seemed to make sense to everyone but Birdman.

Tyga claims Birdman owes him $12 million, and Birdman is calling BS!

According to TMZ, inside sources have actually revealed that Tyga is actually the one who walked away still owing Cash Money Records an album!

Apparently the label had no problem releasing Tyga as they state that his sales were low and slow.

It seemed like everything was cool with Tyga when he left Cash Money for Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music in 2016, but apparently not, as Tyga is claiming the Cash Money boss owes him millions.

Tyga supposedly isn’t even suing for money which makes the claim seem a little bogus.

“What person says they won’t sue if they’re owed $12 million?” said the source.

Do you think Birdman really owes Tyga $12 million?

Migos Member Offset Says He’s Calling Out Rappers On ‘Culture 2’!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Either Quavo found the hard drive that he lost with ‘Culture 2’ on it, or the Atlanta rap trio Migos is just re-recording everything from scratch! Either way, the project is definitely on the way.

Migos member Offset has recently let it be known that he will be calling out a few rappers on ‘Culture 2’ as well.

Whomever Offset doesn’t f-ck with, it will certainly come out on this album. Offset even says that he’s going to call out folks by name!

Who do you think will be on the list? Lil Uzi Vert, Joe Budden? Heck maybe even Chris Brown?!

Maybe Migos should just focus on putting out good music instead of possibly igniting new beefs.

Can’t we all just get along?! Are you anticipating ‘Culture 2’? Will it live up to the hype?

REVIEW: Vic Mensa’s “The Autobiography “

(AllHipHop Reviews) Fresh off the release of his 4-song “capsule” The Manuscript EP, Chicago native Vic Mensa drops off his debut album, The Autobiography. It’s executive produced by No I.D. who just helped create Jay-Z’s 4:44, the clear-cut album of the year.

Vic’s often been known to dig deep and reflect on his past misfortunes. His 2016 EP There’s Alot Going On was a diverse offering which found him discussing everything from a past relationship to the Flint water crisis. Given the title of this latest project, you can expect him to dig even deeper.

But will all that digging reveal diamonds or dirt?

The first time I heard Vic Mensa was on Asher Roth’s remix of Kids These Days’ “Hard Times.” I immediately noticed his unique voice, sharp flow and strong lyricism, but I never imagined he would grow into the artist he is today. The Manuscript EP and The Autobiography are further proof of Vic’s growth as a rapper, a musician, and a human being. By stripping down to his innermost self, his music has become more personal, more relatable, and a bit surprisingly, better lyrically.

The Autobiography kicks off with a soulful track built off a sample of Darondo’s “Didn’t I.” Vic takes this opportunity to speak to his father, mother and late grandmother about their support for him and how much he appreciates them. On “Memories on 47th St.,” Vic spills all the details about his life, from having IEPs and getting kicked out of kindergarten to nearly dying sneaking into Lollapalooza. Tracks like these carry the torch that was ignited by the album’s title.

Overall, this album works because it’s both strong musically and revealing. From speaking on past relationships on tracks like “Homewrecker” and “Coffee & Cigarettes” to diving into the tragedies of his personal life on “Heaven on Earth” and “Wings,” Vic may as well have written this album in his own blood. And of course, the album is heavily peppered with references to Chicago, Vic’s friend (and rapper) Joey Purp, and the violence that plagues his city.

But the best part about the lyrical content on The Autobiography is that it doesn’t overshadow any other aspect of the album. While the album is primarily focused on delivering on the expectations the title creates, Vic still devotes plenty of energy to crafting clever bars and developing a unique, potent sound driven by strong vocals and varied production.

That’s not to say this album doesn’t have any chinks in its armor. For those who enjoy Vic as a rapper, this album could have focused on rapping a bit more. And while “Rolling Like a Stoner” serves as a catchy anthem which explores the reality of drug use (think “Swimming Pools”), I’m just not rocking with it musically. If this song had been replaced or the album cut to 12 songs, I think it would have been a stronger debut.

To me, though, this album has no real lows, just slightly lower highs. It’s easy to put on and play straight through, and no song is so shallow as to not offer the listener anything.

The Autobiography
is full of social commentary, emotion, reflection, and self-improvement. It serves as a coming out party for one of the most promising young spitters in Hip-Hop—and I’m sure we’ll be hearing more of the same from Vic Mensa in the coming years.
