Dave Chappelle Takes A Hilarious Jab At Meek Mill

(AllHipHop Rumors) Recently illusionist David Blaine took a moment to freak out Drake, Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Dave Chappelle with a little magic trick.

Before he took a moment to gross out his guests by regurgitating a frog (out of nowhere), Dave, in good humor, got a chance to take a quick jab at Meek Mill.

Dave took a shot at Meek Mill ahead of Blaine’s trick. Blaine asked Drake to think of a small creature that could fit in the palm of Drake’s hand, and for Chappelle to draw it. Chappelle replied saying,

“If I drew Meek Mill he’d be like ‘Aw man.’”

Drake ended up picking a frog, and Blaine “magically” and mysteriously spit out several live frogs.

How in TF?!?

We have to give it to Dave Chappelle though; that was hilarious. I just want to be as happy at Drake one day, because his laugh is always so funny and extra.

Dame Dash & Boogie Dash Meet With Lawyer Over Possible Jail Time For DUI Charges (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Damon “Boogie” Dash was arrested for driving under the influence.

The son of Hip Hop mogul Dame Dash was reportedly given a sobriety test at the scene before being taken into custody.

Part of Boogie’s legal drama plays out on this season of the reality series Growing Up Hip Hop.

The “Busta Crime” episode features Boogie and Dame meeting with an attorney to discuss the misdemeanor DUI situation.

“I am actually bugging out right now. I do not want to spend any more time in jail,” Boogie tells the camera.

Growing Up Hip Hop airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET on We tv.

50 Cent Finally Wins “P.I.M.P” Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent has won another legal spat, this time over his hit song “P.I.M.P.”

Producer Brandon Parrott sued the rap star, real name Curtis Jackson, earlier this year, claiming he was conned into signing over rights to a track called “Bamba,” which he alleges became “P.I.M.P.”

Parrott also sued producer Denaun Porter, UMG Recordings, Interscope, Aftermath Records, Shady Records and EMI Music Publishing, insisting they all failed to get his permission to use his track.

The label bosses moved to dismiss the suit in September, arguing that the terms of an earlier settlement, securing the plaintiff royalties and shared ownership in the track, made it clear he couldn’t sue.

U.S. District Judge S. James Otero dismissed the complaint on Wednesday.

Otero determined Parrot’s fraud argument was deeply flawed, stating, “No reasonable music composer in Parrott’s position could have relied in good faith upon a co-producer’s statements that the composer’s music had mistakenly been incorporated into millions of infringing tracks without anyone notifying or crediting him… The only plausible inference is that Parrott failed to conduct any investigation in the truth behind Porter’s statements. Thus, Parrott’s own allegations defeat his claims.”

Diamond Talks The Renewed Success Of “Knuck If You Buck” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) A lot of listeners under the age of 18 may not have known the beat used on “Juju On That Beat” before Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall’s dance song became a viral hit.

Plenty of people did recognize the sample as the 2004 club banger “Knuck If You Buck” by Crime Mob.

DJ Smallz spoke with Diamond from the Atlanta-based group about a new generation of fans discovering the Crunk anthem.

“We’re blessed to still be able to have a hit record that still lives 12, 13 years later,” said Diamond. “My nieces and nephews – 14, 15 – it’s just now coming to them.”

According to the Sisterhood of Hip Hop star, Crime Mob recorded five new songs together last year.

However, Diamond admitted there is still business related tension among a few of the members.

Meanwhile, “Knuck If You Buck” lives on.

The 28-year-old rapstress loves performing the song, but she admits the success of the cut can get bothersome at times.

“Oh my world, yes I do. I do. I do. I do,” responded Diamond when asked if she ever gets tired of Crime Mob’s signature song. “I want them to want to listen to something else.”

Nick Cannon Talks Writing For Kanye West & Not Being A Fan Of Drake As An Emcee (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Nick Cannon may catch a lot of criticism for the music he releases, but The Gospel Of Ike Turn Up mixtape creator claims he played a role in helping one of the most celebrated rappers of the 21st Century.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Cannon spoke about writing for Kanye West.

“I never wrote no smashes, but I’ve been in the Kanye [writing] camps early on,” stated Cannon.

The Wild ‘N Out host added, “I was there during ‘Gold Digger.’ I wrote that bar for Kanye: ‘We don’t need to stop. I make black history every day. I don’t need a month.’ That was me.”

The conversation shifted to Drake and reports the Toronto rhymer has multiple writers.

“If you put Drake up against somebody bar-for-bar – like if you go off your arsenal not your team’s arsenal, what you got against another person who raps for a living – I’m not going to go with Drake,” said Cannon. “I’m a huge Drake fan. Probably one of the biggest… not as an emcee.”

The rapper/actor/entrepreneur did suggest Drake is likely one of the best artists of this generation, but Cannon does not see Champagne Papi as a top lyricist.

Nick does not hold the same opinion about Kanye.

“I have seen Ye be a lyricist. I have battled Ye, freestyle off the top,” Cannon explained. “I just haven’t seen it [from Drake]. We keep talking about it. I’ve seen the Blackberries. I’ve never seen him step up to an emcee.”

Kevin Durant: I Don’t Give A Damn About No Damn Drake Night (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Toronto Raptors Global Ambassador Drake could be preparing to have some bars ready for Kevin Durant.

KD and the Golden State Warriors handed the Raptors a 127 to 121 loss in Toronto.

After the game, the former league MVP was asked about the friendly trash talk taking place on “Drake Night” at the Air Canada Centre.

“I don’t give a damn about no damn ‘Drake Night,'” stated Durant before walking off the court.

If Drizzy does decide to take verbal shots at KD, the OVO leader should be prepared to have some lyrics fired back because Durant has released rap music in the past.

There is also KD’s Roc Nation Sports connection.

The 28-year-old Washington, DC native is signed to Jay Z’s management company.

Drake admitted he has a rocky relationship with Jay, and Kanye West claimed the Apple Music versus Tidal streaming battle added to the rift between the “Light Up” collaborators.

However, at one time, Drake tried to recruit KD to play for the Raptors and shouted out the NBA player on his Views album.

“Empire” Season 3 Episode 5 Gets “Real” Cyber Style In Recap and Review

So this week’s episode of “Empire” was pretty major, but not for the reasons one might initially think.

Yes, “Empire” Season 3 episode 5, “Chimes At Midnight,” took thug life cyber with the welcome return of French Montana playing music mogul Vaughn and helping Andre (Trai Byers) to fool Lucious (Terence Howard) into giving Andre the title of president of Empire Records.

With this clever “hack a mole” A-story line, the writers of “Empire” earn big originality points as this is probably the first time that cyber terrorism has been used as a primary method of gangland style execution in a soap opera – let also one firmly rooted in the world of Hip Hop.

Looking at the music on offer, the pickings were rather slim. Most of the episode only gave up rough bits and pieces of tracks from Jamal (Jussie Smollett), only to destroy most of them as a casualty of cyber hacking carnage.

The one fully realized number, “Don’t Want Nobody Else But You,” a duet performed by Nessa (Sierra A. McClain) and Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), was seamlessly produced and executed but conceptually a bit basic.

While it was a good blend of Hip Hop and R&B, it wasn’t particularly memorable or groundbreaking. If anything, “Don’t Want Nobody Else But You,” worked best as yet another well-timed device to show that Hakeem cannot ever seem to keep a girl when up against another guy – be it Graham (Romeo Miller) or his own brother.

Harsh, but true… not to mention a very exploitable character flaw ripe to be taken advantage of yet again by Lucious or Andre in future episodes.

So if it wasn’t the cyber angle or the music, what was the secret sauce of “Chimes At Midnight” setting it apart as a lynchpin of an episode in what has already been a pretty satisfying season? It lies in the frequently referenced themes of race, class and the ability to obtain ultimate success  in America – concepts that have been integral to “Empire” Season 3 from the start.

For all of this season there has been a pointed question in the air, which is the following: as a black man, black woman and/or a person of color, is it possible in today’s America to succeed by following the rules of a system that is supposed to be blind but seems to be anything but?

Taking that question further, if you are black/of color, talented, highly educated and privileged, can you rise to the highest rungs of the American system in the same manner as similarly situated whites without resorting to criminal means?

Last week, if it wasn’t clear enough from Lucious reading “The Criminal” to his granddaughter Bella, he is the symbol of black success made available only through the full acceptance of criminality as a necessary tool.  Andre, as Lucious’ son and opposite, has always been the example of privilege, education, and following the rules as a means to win.

From the first season of “Empire,” Andre has fervently believed that education and intellect was enough for him or anyone else to “honestly” conquer the world of business via Empire.

But now, after a season 3 that has seen Andre 1. arrested outside of his own house in the upscale and mostly white neighborhood that he used to live in with his wife,  and  2. wrongly found guilty of assaulting an officer and now permanently in the legal system  – it would seem that Andre has come full circle on the subject of race what he as a person of color must do in order to obtain success in America.

In any event, the social commentary behind Andre’s turn to the dark side in framing Graham this week was more than just your ordinary slaughter of a young and dumb innocent for power, money and fame.

“Empire” airs Wednesdays at 9:00/8:00 central on FOX.

Guess What’s Making Common A Better Rapper?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Alright kids, we think we found something to make you guys better rappers.

According to rapper Common, he became a better rapper after he became a vegetarian.

Common revealed to People that growing up in Chicago caused him to once eat a lot of heavy foods like hamburgers, barbecue, and bacon, until he completely switched it up!

“I heard rappers like KRS-One in ‘My Philosophy,’ say things about not eating meat, which was a real education, especially since it was coming from somebody cool. That stayed with me and made me want to learn more. As soon as I removed meat from my diet, I started to feel a clarity I didn’t have before. It sounds funny, but I feel like I was rapping better,” said Common.

Well Common is currently a pescatarian, so he definitely still enjoys his fish and seafood.

Well, I certainly agree with Common as he believes what you eat affects the way you look and feel.

We can’t blame the man for wanting to live a holistic and healthy life. Now unfortunately this probably won’t help some of you garbage rappers be better rappers, but it will help you live healthier lifestyles!
