It looks like newcomer and Odd Future affiliate Frank Ocean has hit his first musical roadblock. Ocean is reportedly being threatened with legal action by Eagles founder Don Henley for his track “American Wedding”. The track features a samples of “Hotel California”, and if Ocean performs the song live, he will be hit with a major lawsuit.
“Don Henley is apparently intimidated by my rendition of hotel california,” revealed Ocean. “He threatened to sue if I perform it again. I think that’s f*ckin awesome.”
Henley’s spokesperson Larry Solters reached out to MTV News to clarify the matter. “Frank Ocean did not merely ‘sample’ a portion of the Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’; he took the whole master track, plus the song’s existing melody, and replaced the lyrics with his own,” he said in a written statement. “This is not creative, let alone ‘intimidating.’ It’s illegal.”
The sample was never officially cleared and the project was never commercially released. The song appears Ocean’s 2011 free debut, Nostalgia, Ultra.
On his Tumblr, Ocean spoke about the matter further.
“Sh–‘s weird. Ain’t this guy rich as f—? Why sue the new guy,” he wrote. “I didn’t make a dime off that song. I released it for free. If anything I’m paying homage.”
I guess we can forget about seeing Frank Ocean perform this song at Coachella! Oh well! Ocean is working on his first Def Jam release and will appear on Odd Future’s compilation, The OF Tape Vol. 2, due March 20.

The phrase “it’s expensive to look this cheap” definitely applies to Nicki Minaj, when you realize how much money she spends on accessories every month.
In this month’s issue of Vogue, the first lady of YMCMB revealed that she used to spend $50K a month on shoes and handbags.
“At one time I was spending $ 50,000 a month on Giuseppe, Versace, YSL, and Fendi shoes. And I bought tons of Louis Vuitton bags.”
Homegirl is screaming new money! Slow down, boo! We’d hate to see you end up broke once your 15 minutes are up.

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (February 29), G-Unit’s sole female rapper, Precious Paris, released her debut EP From Paris With Love, which is available for download exclusively on DatPiff.com.
The eleven-track EP features guest appearances from Twanee, Shaun White, G-Unit label mate Kidd Kidd and 50 Cent, who appears on five tracks including “Trick,” “No Hesitation,” “Queens,” “Everything OK,” and “Do Your Thing.” Production on From Paris With Love comes from the likes of Black Key Beats, Dready, Gnyus, Mr. Colt 45, Rockwilder, and more.
On signing with 50 Cent and G-Unit initially, Paris told AllHipHop.com, “Being from South Jamaica Queens, signing with 50, in my opinion, was the only move. I always believed that, with tunnel vision.”
Precious Paris got her “introduction” on 50 Cent’s mixtape The Big Ten and was also featured on the song “Queens” for which both she and 50 filmed a music video. When asked about the response she received since her “Queens” debut and what she hopes to achieve with From Paris With Love, Paris told AllHipHop.com, “I think the general response has been awesome. People seem to have appreciated the style of rap that I brought to the table on the record… It made them curious to hear more.”
“From Paris With Love gave me an avenue to display lyrics and flow on a different level.” She continued, “you’re able to see the diversity in patterns as well as topics. I’ve been waiting to show people how hungry I am and hope they recognize my conviction because I don’t plan on stopping. This mixtape was a no brainer. I’m always in the studio working so we never had a difficult time deciding what this mix tape was going to consist of. I’m very pleased with the out come and I feel blessed to have an opportunity to be heard.”
Regarding Paris’ plans post-From Paris With Love, she said, “moving Forward I will remain focused and keep grinding musically as if none of this ever happened in preparation for the official album. I’m ready.”

(AllHipHop News) The Hip-Hop loving warden of Rikers Island has been charged with assault and harassment, over an affair with a female correctional officer.
Emmanuel Bailey was the warden of Rikers Island, before he retired last Thursday (February 23).
He retired under pressure from the Correction Department, after it was revealed that he was having an affair with a female correctional officer.
Bailey, who is 55-years-old, allegedly met the woman for sexual encounters in Brooklyn over the past year.
According to the New York Post, Emmanuel Bailey is a married man.
When his wife, who is also a correctional officer, learned of the trysts, she began sending the mistress on dangerous assignments.
Emmanuel Bailey is a fan of hip-hop music and several incidents took place while he was the warden at Rikers Island.
Emmanuel Bailey allowed rapper Papoose to perform at Rikers in 2006, sparking months of violence at the jail, due to Pap’s long-standing feud with a rival rapper/bloods gangleader named Dough Boy.
Papoose is also married to rapper Remy Ma, who is serving an eight year prison sentence at Rikers Island for shooting her friend over a stolen purse in 2007.
Rapper Foxy Brown allegedly received preferential treatment from Rikers correctional officers, when she served almost a year in the prison for violating her probation in 2007.
