It’s one of the most intriguing and fascinating sagas in Hip-Hop history.
The story of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has been told, and re-told, for the better part of two decades. Their journey from homeless thugs on the streets of Cleveland, to international superstars is well documented. But despite their groundbreaking style, multiple awards and millions of records sold, the Bone Thugs story has been overshadowed by inner turmoil for the better part of the new millennium. Whether it was jail time, bad record deals, or feuding members, Bone Thugs seemed to always be making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
In Part 1 of AllHipHop.com’s exclusive interview with Layzie Bone, we found the rapper in turmoil over shady business dealings and the split up of the group in recent months. In Part 2, he expounds upon his own responsibility in the breakup and what he hopes to accomplish by being so candid now – read on:
AllHipHop.com: A lot of people because of those messages that went out on Facebook and Twitter hold out hope, and that’s a good thing. They got excited, and they might hear this and be a little bit disappointed, but obviously when you’re speaking, it isn’t just throwing out harmful sh*t for the sake of throwing it out. There are obviously emotions and family ties to this, it’s very real and goes beyond music. What would you tell those fans in order to keep optimistic, to know that this might not be the final chapter?
Layzie Bone: The only reason I’m doing this interview is in hopes that we can get our sh*t together and like we said on the intro of “Creepin’ On Ah Come Up” – shut this muthaf*cka down, ‘cause we do have the Internet. And we are a company. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is a brand. Once you take ten years to become a brand, and once you are a brand, your brand can stay. You have staying power. Now if my n*ggas can hear this, and be like, yeah you right, Steve, you are our spokesman, you have been our leader.
Now I hadn’t been the leader all the time, because a muthaf*cka get tired. I need everybody else to pick up the slack sometimes. But when it comes to puttin’ this group together, man, that’s me, dawg. Pat me on my back and say the lil’ man hold us down. I know everything I’m saying is accurate, but I’m not saying that I’m perfect either. I had my faults. I have faults. I’m not perfect.
But I know one thing deep in my heart, to the fans that’s listening, you can tell when something is genuine. You can tell when something is sincere. Look at that AllHipHop video-recorded interview, and tell me when they talking ‘bout family, is that sincere or not? Like, body language is a muthaf*cka, man! Actions speak louder than words, man! Who really kept everybody together?
All I’m saying is, I don’t have the energy to do it no more, I got my own f*ckin’ family problems and things like that and ambitions. Now look in the mirror and ask yourself where do you belong? Do you belong a solo artist, or is it what God pre-ordained for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to change the world, for folks to see us at the crossroads, and all them inspiring a** songs we did? How many records do we do solo? We don’t do a muthaf*ckin’ thing, compared to what Bone Thugs-N-Harmony do.
AllHipHop.com: When you look at turmoil and discontent, if you had to look within at yourself, what do you regret in terms of the way you did certain things? If you put yourself in their shoes in terms of what you did wrong …
Layzie Bone: Okay, well, really, no regrets, because I learn from my mistakes, so there are no regrets. But at the same time, some of the things that I did wrong … First of all, I didn’t educate myself as a leader should. I wish I would have got a lot more educated, you know, it took me a long time to get to where I am now. I was stuck in a bottle. I was drinking too g###### much. That was my downfall. I didn’t have any moderation.
There was a lot of business going on that I could have attended to better. Also, I negotiated them solo deals too quick. I did that. But we had plans. It was supposed to be Bone album, solo, solo, Bone album, solo, solo, Bone album. We planned that when we was little. But in the midst of our comin’ up, I put it on the table too fast.
But I saw that Bizzy was getting antsy, and I thought I was giving him what he wanted. I saw Krayzie Bone was in the studio making a billion songs, and I thought that’s what he wanted. But had I not been intoxicated as much, I would have made better decisions, so my downfall, to me, within our group was my alcoholism. I might drink now, but better believe I got my sh*t under control being 37.
I handle my business first. This sh*t ain’t just a party to me no more. So if I had to slap myself in the f*ckin’ face, dawg, it’d have been like damn, man, you didn’t have to live in a bottle like that, Lay. And that’s the only thing I really fault myself on because even through all that, I still tended to the business. I kept deals coming in for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, solo deals for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mo Thug deals for artists that we wanted to put on.
So I don’t kick myself in the a** because I did a good f*ckin’ job. Now it’s time for everybody else to be honest. That’s what I did wrong, man, but at the same time I live, I learn, and hopefully that’s what we all are doing. But at this point, celebrating 20 years, like, 20 years is a long time. I would much, much rather be my brother’s keeper than to keep doing this f#####’ music trying to be a group and sending out these mixed messages to our fans. Like, come on, dawg, we went back to back, we shot at n*ggas, we sold dope. We did what the f*ck we had to do. When we ain’t have no bread, you rarely seen Bone Thugs-N-Harmony apart. N*ggas got bread, we bought houses, bought cars and all that, and there you have it. The story is what it is.
AllHipHop.com: You talk about the twenty years and you talked previously about doing stuff with Ruthless Records. Let’s look forward now, what might we see when the 20-year anniversary stuff comes out?
Layzie Bone: Okay, well, first of all, we’re doing our VH1 Behind the Scenes, and we’re gonna tell the real story. We do have the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony book, The Book of Thugs, we do have the movies that we’re doing, just a lot of things that we’re doing. I just want to go into it right. We got a real live record of live performances comin’ out for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony which requires us to be together to do this.
And hopefully, we all read this and talk about this sh*t when we’re together. ‘Cause we seem not to talk about the things, we don’t touch on the things that we’re supposed to when we’re together. Let’s roll the blunt, let’s ignore the sh*t that’s keeping us from being as successful as we possibly could be. So it’s a lot of things, and like I said, I’ma put this sh*t in big, bold capital letters: LAYZIE BONE WILL NEVER LEAVE BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY. EVER. Because, like I said, I think about carrying the caskets, ‘cause we don’t live forever.
I think about taking care of our families. I want all five of us to come together. Like, right now, since they doin’ they thing, they don’t want me involved, it’s like they don’t want to know what my well-being is, that’s fine. Go ahead and be in your development stage as a unit. So I still got Krayzie and Wish, they can do Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, too. You better believe I did an album with them, Strength and Loyalty, and kept it movin’. So I’ma do an album with Bizzy Bone and Flesh. Majority has always ruled, always, in Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. So my hopes and ambitions is for the world to see us dominant.
AllHipHop.com: On this day, if you had to honestly predict how it’s going to go in the near future for your group in terms of its makeup, how do you think it’s going to shape up?
Layzie Bone: With me doing this interview right here, Kray gon’ want to whoop my a**. Wish gon’ want to whoop my a**. B probably gon’ say it’s ‘bout time that lil’ n*gga said something. And Flesh, that’s my big brother, he came home from the penitentiary to get Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. That’s his duty. He missed so many years, I know he wants to see it. But they gon’ want to whoop my a**, but at the same time it’s probably a breath of fresh air that I’m just keeping it one-hundred from my opinion, from my point of view.
So I think we gon’ celebrate this 20-year anniversary, I think this sh*t right here, I’m sayin’ this sh*t right here, n*gga, you know what I mean, Katt Williams type sh*t, this sh*t should bring us together. Because I ain’t speakin’ nothing but the truth. And I ain’t talkin’ down on Kray. I ain’t talkin’ down on Wish. I aint talkin’ down on Steve Lobel. I ain’t talkin’ down on Bizzy.
Even when I said my alcoholic ways, I ain’t talkin’ down on myself, because we all can overcome any obstacle. I ain’t even talkin’ down on Mr. Francis, I’m just sayin’. Just don’t pop up, don’t misappropriate things. They know my number. Call me. Tell me y’all planning on puttin’ Bone Thugs-N-Harmony together. Don’t let me find out on no muthaf*ckin’ Internet. ‘Cause this my muthaf*ckin’ group, you feel me? And I would hope that every other Bone member feels the same way.
AllHipHop.com: You got stuff from the vault that has Bone Thugs-N-Harmony songs, you have your solo albums, you have your websites, why don’t you list what people should expect and where people can find you?
Layzie Bone: First of all, you can find everything that I’m doing on www.HarmonyHowseEnt.com. I think Kray’s project is called From the Vault, mine is called The Lost Archives. I got a solo record called Perfect Timing, I got the Harmony Howse compilation which is called Welcome to the Howse, I got The Law of Attraction Special Edition CD that I’m selling with a lot of my poetry and things like that. It’s a nice package, you know, I just dropped The Law of Attraction mixtape CD so go download that, it’s free.
I got my book of poetry coming out which is called Invisible Ink. Look out for Felecia’s record called Before My Time. Flesh-N-Bone’s new record Blaze of Glory, I’m promoting that. I’m promoting me, Bizzy, and Flesh’s album. I want to call it Majority Rules, but I don’t think Bizzy gon’ let me, so that’s a debate right now. You got that record, though, which is – WHOO! – off the hook.
For everything you need to know you can go to www.HarmonyHowseEnt.com. All these things that I’m doing is hopefully to be backed up sometime by the end of this year by a five-man Bone Thugs-N-Harmony album. But be lookin’ for me, Bizzy, and Flesh to go on tour. And I hope the fans come out and support us, too, because it’s some of the same songs but I’ma switch it all the way up so they get a whole ‘nother feel and flavor for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
Follow me on Twitter (@LayzieBTNH), Layzie Bone on Facebook – I’m always on Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Facebook.
AllHipHop.com: If you had to do it in a sentence collectively or individually talking to your group, what would be your message to your group, your brothers that you grew up with?
Layzie Bone: Okay. “T.E.A.M. Together everyone achieves more.” Teamwork makes the dream work. Team. Team. Team. Team. Team. Exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point … Together everyone achieves more.

Happy Fearless Friday, my Warriors of Light!
Welcome to the day you begin to reject all that you do not want to see in your life! You know what you want! You understand what would make your life the best life! With that knowledge, it is imperative to say NO to whatever doesn’t fit that equation!
Often times, based on fear, we allow ourselves to compromise or accept less favorable conditions, then wonder why we aren’t happy! As I said earlier this week, you have nothing to lose! The worst that can happen isn’t even close to the energy you are giving it! You are the only person who can stop you, and as soon as you make the decision to just say NO to mediocrity, is the day you finally begin to live in bliss! You were not born to be a victim! Be the Victor and Win in this Game of Life!!!

The rumors surrounding Chris Brown and Rihanna’s reconciliation are not dying down anytime soon. Several sources have reported that party-goers spotted Chris at Rihanna’s 24th birthday party and the two were canoodling and holding hands all night! These two are officially back together!
The b-day bash took place at the Hearst Mansion in Beverly Hills and reports are saying that Chris Brown’s reps tried to forced party-goers to sign confidentiality agreements! As if! Not everyone agreed to signing one, and someone was so pee-ed off about it that they decided to spill the beans about what took place inside. They even leaked a photo of Rihanna’s cakewhich was a giant spliff … with a small Rihanna made out of icing, riding it like a horse. Check out the picture below.
According to sources, the two got real intimate — sitting next to each other, talking, and holding hands … all perfectly legal ever since the restraining order was lifted. Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Chris Martin were all at the party as well.
I tell you one thing, Rihanna is one bad a** chick!

Navy veteran B. Taylor is taking the music world by storm. This all American budding Hip Hop star was discovered by Motown legends. Moreover, he has become the “face of music” for the U.S military and their families. B. Taylor has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Fox News and he has performed for President Obama. He Scored a #1 Hit on Billboard with his duet with TV star Pauley Perrette. That is a major fete for an independent artist.
AllHipHop.com: What’s good B. Taylor? You’ve received a lot of mainstream press. For those who are not familiar with you, give us some background info as to who you are.
B. Taylor My name is B.Taylor. I’m a rapper/musician originally from Peoria, IL. I’m a former Military Veteran who was let out of the military early to pursue a professional career in sports and music. Also I was discovered by Pete Moore of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and later endorsed by the Motown Legends and Family. Currently I reside in Las Vegas, NV. and just had a pretty good year as an independent artist going #1 on the Billboard Hot Hip Hop/RnB Singles chart with my single “Fire In Your Eyes” featuring the NCIS and #1 actress on Prime Time Television Pauley Perrette which has given me a solid fan base of over 400k people on the social sites. I also did a song with Ray J called “Let’s Get This Party Started.”
AllHipHop.com: What is the significance of your name?
B. Taylor My nickname is B.T., but I couldn’t use that name because of the techno producer that goes by the same name. My full name is Billy Taylor and I couldn’t use that because of the jazz musician by the name of Billy Taylor. So, I came up with B.Taylor, which is what the military called me.
AllHipHop.com: You have a unique sound, Who is your target market? Who are you trying to reach?
B. Taylor My target market is a global market of music consumers who like good music just like Motown did. I want to hit the youth, urban markets, and then cross over to hit everyone else. Motown music was made for everyone and that’s what I learned from them. Berry Gordy said on the first day of Motown we are not going to make Black Music, we are going to make music for the world and that is my target audience, the world.
AllHipHop.com: Besides the fact that you’re being backed by the Motown legends, which is great in of itself, What is your USP? (Unique Selling Proposition) and what sets you apart from other artists?
B. Taylor Well as a Hip Hop artist, I play four instruments. I am a musician. I usually rap while sitting at a piano which is unique. Also my ties with the military and government from the Joint Chiefs of staffs board and all the way to the white house sets me apart. They have made me the face of music for the US Military men, women and their civilian families all of over the world, which consists of millions of people to market to. They have never did this for a new artist and I am also the first Hip Hop artist that the Pentagon has endorsed.
AllHipHop.com: What is your opinion of the current state of the music industry?
B. Taylor Well I think artists are doing their thing. But I think that the labels should do more in terms of developing an artist fully just like Motown did. The major labels should groom artists for longevity. It’s about teaching artists about music theory and the business of music (publishing, marketing etc). That is what the Motown legends have taught me and it was a whole training course that I believe younger artists should have. This will make them have longevity and a bigger impact on the music industry.
AllHipHop.com: What is your favorite part of your live show? How has it evolved?
B. Taylor My favorite part is when I play the piano and rap from the keys. It has evolved in that I am more confident on stage. My stage performances are filled with a lot of energy. My mission is to completely entertain the audience.
AllHipHop.com: What is your website? How can people reach you?
B. Taylor Yes indeed, my website is www.btaylor.com. Everything is there in terms of my promo links, music and contact information.
AllHipHop.com: Any final words for the people.
B. Taylor Yes, first thanks to All Hip Hop for this great opportunity. Also I would like to remind the people to stay focused and stay positive no matter what you are dealing with. If you do that then you will come out on top. And I live by the words ” Honor, Courage and Commitment.” Thanks to all of my fans around the world.

(AllHipHop News) Hit making producer Scott Storch continues his battle with cocaine after an arrest earlier this month in Las Vegas.
TMZ.com reports that Scott Storch was arrested on February 4th, after authorities caught him trying to hide a bag of cocaine in a trashcan at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
Hotel security called the police on the producer, after he allegedly refused to pay for his room.
Security guards noticed Storch stuffing a bag of cocaine into a nearby trashcan and when police arrived, they found 2.7 grams worth of the drug.
Scott Storch was arrested and later released on $5,000 bail.
Scott Storch is famous for producing hits for artists like 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and others.
He is just as well known for his addiction to drugs and alcohol, in addition to squandering tens of millions of dollars, before checking into rehab.
The talented and outspoken Mario Van Peebles has been a fixture behind and in front of the camera for over 25 years. Drawing from the DNA and classic works of his famous father, Melvin, Van Peebles has worked with the best of the best, creating some memorable moments on the big screen.
Working with rappers isn’t new territory for Van Peebles. In the course of his filmmaking career, he has excelled using Hip-Hop and urban culture as a backdrop for his cinematic works. Just think Posse and New Jack City, and you know that Van Peebles has what it takes to depict the diversity of Black life on camera.
Just this week, Van Peebles has released the DVD version of his new film with rapper 50 Cent – he checked in with AllHipHop.com to tell why rappers make some of the best actors in the biz and to premiere an exclusive clip from the movie:
AllHipHop.com: It’s a pleasure to talk to you, Mario! So, I just got a chance to watch your movie All Things Fall Apart with 50 Cent. First, let people know how you became affiliated with this film.
Mario Van Peebles: Initially, I was just going to act in it. I met with 50 to talk about the film, and he started talking to me about its genesis – that he had a friend that had passed of cancer. The more we talked about, and I saw the emotion that he had and the energy that he had for it, it started to shift over and then eventually to would I help guide it, would I consider directing it?
So I said yes. I had worked and been directing for a minute. The first film I did was New Jack [City], and I sort of took Ice T through a process of being on screen with guys like Wesley [Snipes] who were veterans, and Chris Rock from comedy. So, we put together all these different folks to get them in the same movie tonally. So, me and 50, we hit it off – 50 is…you know, he was really ready to leave that rap persona behind.
I said to him, ‘Literally, you’ll be carrying no gun. You’ll have no backup for this movie. The rap persona won’t be a part of it. Are you ready to bring your A Game to that? As an actor, I’m on the same team with you, but as the director, I’ll be the guy saying OK, we need this, and we need another take of that. Are you ready for me to be in that capacity, because you don’t always like your coach, you know what I mean? [laughter] I’m not trying have you mad at me. I just want you to know the truth. If not, we shouldn’t, because I’m gonna be your Lou Gossett [laughter].
AllHipHop.com: Well, we’ve seen a lot of rappers jump into the acting pool over the years, and even 50 Cent – this wasn’t his first role. But in your expert opinion, does he have the [acting] chops for the job?
Mario Van Peebles: Right, it wasn’t his first role. But my point is, it was his first role with such a degree of turn away from the rap persona. My point was that he’d really have to drop all that, and have no gun, no backup, with veteran actors like Ray Liotta, Lynn Whitfield, and myself, and in essence, be unarmed, only be armed with his acting skills and be able to bring it.
I thought he brought his A Game to it. I understood him, I think because I’m an actor and a director – like if you’re a doctor and a patient, you have a better bedside manner. So I could really help him get to the character from the inside, not just the outside. And once he started working at it, I thought he brought it. I thought he did his thing. I thought he brought a different level definitely of the Curtis Jackson I had ever seen before.
AllHipHop.com: I thought he was good. So, you’ve worked with rappers in the past. Do you see any of the skills they need as rappers translate well into the discipline required for acting?
Mario Van Peebles: Some have it; some don’t, you know? There are some people who can come from sports, who can come from comedy, they come from theater. We come from all walks of life, so some have it, some don’t. I mean, I have brothers and sisters who are not in the business. Just ‘cause you like something doesn’t mean you’ll be good at it, you know what I mean? Or, it doesn’t mean you’ll make a living at it, right?
If you could make a living at doing everything you want, there’d be a lot of food tasters and p### stars, right?! You’re like, ‘I like this,’ and people are like, ‘You better work on your directing, player!’ [laughter] So, it doesn’t mean you’re going to make a living doing that, you know? But I think here, [50 Cent] was ready to take that jump, and it was cool because I was ready to do it with him.
I don’t know if you saw that scene in the garage [on All Things Fall Apart], but there’s a scene where you have Dion and Eric talking about what happens when what you love is no longer possible to do career-wise. You know, there are three loves in your life – do what you love, do it with people you love, and say what you love with it.
A lot of our young men are dropping out of school to play ball or to rap, but if you go to school and you want to be a dream team attorney and you fail, you might still be a lawyer. And if you were trying to be a brain surgeon and you failed, you might still be a doctor. But if you try to be a ballplayer and you fail, you’re a tall brother washing dishes. If you’re a rapper and you fail, you’re a broke brother with rhymes…
AllHipHop.com: Yeah, Mario, how about that?
Mario Van Peebles: We’ve got 50 percent of our young brothers dropping out – 50 percent of guys who look like me or look like 50 [Cent] are somewhere in the spectrum. And they drop out to do this, and never think about their B Game. That’s a luxury. I understand where you’re trying to survive, but you’d rather throw money in the air and have champagne. Yeah, I get it. But if you don’t think about that B Game, and say, ‘Aww, wow, what do I do now?’ That conversation is valuable.
We all want to play ball, but we forget to own the team. The advantage I had in life is that I had a dad who said, ‘I’m gonna teach you how to own the team. I’m gonna teach you how to own the movie; I’m gonna teach you how to produce it. I’m gonna teach you how to be a businessman.’ I think what 50 has said is, ‘I’m gonna take my hustle to the boardroom, and I’m gonna own Vitamin Water. I’m gonna produce my own movie. I’m gonna team up with other brothers and do something and say something positive. That’s beautiful, when we start to say, ‘It’s not just about me; I can team up with we, and we can all get money.’
AllHipHop.com: One last thing on the topic of 50 Cent, since I have you here. A lot of people have disputed that 50 went through that dramatic physical transformation that we see in the film. Can you confirm once and for all if that was real?
Mario Van Peebles: It’s real. 50 Cent had been on a liquid diet before when he was shot. So he already knew what it would be like to do nothing but liquids. What you see is real. As you can see, he went there.
AllHipHop.com: Those pictures are disturbing. ‘Went there’ is an understatement, Mario! [laughter]
All Things Fall Apart is available for purchase on DVD at major retailers and on iTunes. See the official trailer below:
