Wyclef Steps Down From Non-Profit To Run For President Of Haiti
(AllHipHop News) Rap star Wyclef Jean has officially stepped down as the head of his non-profit organization Yéle Haiti, as he prepares to run for President of Haiti. AllHipHop.com was the first media outlet in the world to report and confirm Wyclef Jean’s bid for President of the country, which the rapper is expected to announce tonight (August 5th) on CNN’s Larry King Live.According to reports, Derek Q. Johnson will take over Jean’s role at Yéle Haiti, which raised almost $10 million dollars for victims of an earthquake that leveled the city of Port-Au-Prince and left some 250,000 residents dead and another 3 million displaced. Derek Q. Johnson is known for his work in revitalizing the Apollo Theater in Harlem. For the past five years, Yéle has been a huge part of life for me, my wife, Claudinette, and the rest of our family, and I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish for the country and people we love, Wyclef Jean, 37, said in a statement. Rick Ross Finally Has His Day
Rapper Rick Ross gave back to the community yesterday (August 4th) at the North Miami Athletic Stadium. Rick Ross, Ace Hood,
Trina, Triple C’s and others were on hand to give out back packs,
school supplies and other items the children need to succeed in school.
In addition to free food, youngsters received free haircuts and free
performances. And Rick Ross was also honored with his own day, when North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre presented the rapper with a “Rick Ross Day” proclamation. Check out some pictures below:
More Rappers Owe IRS: Swizz, Wyclef, Obie Hit With New Liens
(AllHipHop News) The government continues to pursue rappers for their outstanding tax bill, as the IRS has placed new liens on three well known artists. First up is Haitian Presidential candidate, Wyclef Jean. According to a lien recently filed by the IRS, Clef’s Yele Haiti non-profit organization allegedly owes $2.1 million dollars in back taxes. According to the lien, the Haitian-born rapper, who is expected to announce his bid for President of that country today (August 5th), Yele Haiti failed to pay proper taxes on income earned in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Recently wed producer Swizz Beatz’ tax bill also continues to grow. The chart-topping producer, who married Alicia Keys last weekend off the coast of X, has had 35 tax liens placed against him over the course of the last seven years. Swizz, born Kasseem Dean, owed more than $4.1 million in three different states between 2003 and 2010 and although he is paying on the bill, the hit making producer still owes over $2.1 million to the IRS. Finally, Detroit rapper Obie Trice owes almost $300,000 dollars to the government. The IRS filed a lien against Obie Trice on June 21st, claiming the rapper is behind on taxes to the tune of $298,000. Earlier this week, federal agents raided the home of Nashville, Tennessee rap star Young Buck and confiscated computers, studio equipment and other assets, to help offset his $300,000 tax burden. “I have a new team in place, but I am also paying full attention now,” Young Buck said after his house was raided. “Nothing like this will ever happen again. This is a huge wake-up call for all entertainers to stay on top of your own trusted employees and team members, and replace anyone that was put in place by your record label if the situation you have goes sour. This IRS situation came about because I trusted accountants, lawyers and managers to handle my business for me while I focused on making music. From now on, I am going to stay on top of my own business.”

Breaking News: Soulja Slim’s Cousin, New Orleans Rapper Twelve A ‘Klok Murdered
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Twelve A’Klok the cousin of late rapper Soulja Slim was found shot to death on a street in New Orleans on Monday (August 2nd). Twelve A’Klok, born Argell White, was a founding member of the record label Cut Throat Committee group/record label, along with his relative Soulja Slim and rappers Re-Nitty, Doubla Crossa and Logga Black. According to the New Orleans’ Times-Picayune, a newspaper deliverer found Twelve A’Klok laying on the ground bleeding, with multiple gunshot wounds to his back on Monday morning just after 5:00 AM.White was pronounced dead on the scene according to police. Police named Twelve A’Klok a suspect of interest in the disappearance of an unnamed, aspiring rapper in New Orleans, although he was never charged with a crime in connection to the case.As an artist on the Cut Throat Committy record label, Twelve A’Klok released albums like Listen Man, Cold Case, The Devil’s Rejects, Lost 2 The World and others. Rapper Soulja Slim, born James Tapp Jr., was gunned down November 26th 2003, in New Orleans.
