Review: Ras Kass “A.D.I.D.A.S.” (All Day I Dream About Spittin’)

Hip-Hop has long endeavored to be mainstream, but there

remains a bubbling, burgeoning underground that continues to emphasize the

basics – beats and rhymes. Ras Kass is one of the finest rappers to grace all

schools of Hip-Hop. He’s also seen the fruits of the game escape him time after

time. But, A.D.I.D.A.S. – a double album – is proof that the rigors of the

music industry has not broken Ras Kass. In fact, it sounds like he’s gotten

stronger.

The album – a collaboration with DJ Rhettmatic – starts fast

(ironically) with a slow tempo diddy called “I Am Legend,”  where AllHipHop gets a name check with

other digital properties. Ras lyrically gives listeners all that they are

looking for and more. The song is dope and Ras delivers a slower-than-usual

flow. He almost sounds Southern, but it allows him to enunciate each lyric to

perfection.

“This S**t Right Here” reunites Ras with his HRSMN

(Horsemen) brothers, Killah Priest, Canibus, Kurupt. No hooks needed as the

four rappers go for broke. Incidentally, none of the 90’s era rappers sound

dated or bitter. “HRSMN, no vowels…I don’t give a s**t, no bowels,” Ras snarls.

Other posse cuts include “Scenario 2012” with Planet Asia, Phil the Agony &

Krondon (Strong Arm Steady), Montage 1, Mistah FAB, and Chino XL. Most songs on

A.D.I.D.A.S. demonstrate Ras’ lust for spittin’ rhymes and its truly a lesson

in lyrics.

But, Ras Kass and DJ Rhettmatic do more than strong-arm

inferior rappers with punchlines. In classic Ras fashion, he gives powerful

content that gives those with an eager ear something to ponder. “Beautiful

Grind” with Evidence is just that, a melodic, airy song that will make riders

drop the top.  On “Where Is She” he

uses the metaphor as Rap as a woman to articulate his confusion over the genre.

“I just never expected to be disrespected by snitches and strippers,” he says

clearly referring to beef with The Game. These sort of songs are bountiful on

the album.

All is not perfect on Ras’ return to glory.

The primary problem A.D.I.D.A.S. is the album offers so many

songs that it gets convoluted and inconsistent at times. For example, “On Top”

with David Banner is a club record that simply doesn’t fit. If you are into

that sort of rap, it’s probably not a bad song. But it is in stark contrast to

“Radio,” the song before, with its chants of “too Black, too strong.” These

sorts of issues have plagued just about every rap act that produced a double

album. There are exceptions like “Visine,” which samples a Drake line, but the

difficulty keeping people’s attention becomes clear.

A.D.I.D.A.S.  is

better than most double albums that Hip-Hop has cranked out. At 26 tracks deep,

this is a lot to digest at once, but it is consistently fresh and demonstrates

why Ras Kass has our ear to this day. Also, he’s got more guest appearances

that this reviewer has ever seen (about 35!) on a rap album. Condensed, Ras easily has a classic here. Hopefully, there

is a grassroots groundswell that allows A.D.I.D.A.S. to be properly

appreciated…and allows Ras to continue to dream about spitting bars.

Cop it.

Patrolmen Benevolent Association Prez Lashes Out At Ice-T; Rapper Replies To Arrest

(AllHipHop News) The president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association lashed out at rapper/actor Ice-T, after the rapper was arrested near the Lincoln Tunnel in New York, for allegedly driving with a suspended license.  Ice-T, who plays detective Fin Tutuola on Law & Order: SVU,  voiced his displeasure with the arrest on Twitter. The rapper posted the arresting officers name and badge number, before labeling him a “punk b**ch rookie cop.” “[Ice-T] may play a police officer on TV, but his disdain for law enforcement is well-documented,” PBA President Patrick Lynch said. “Real police officers enforce real laws that exist to keep everyone safe, even a disrespectful, former rap performer-turned-actor, whether he likes it or not.” Ice-T famously beefed with police officers nation wide after his rock band “Body Count” released the controversial song “Cop Killer.”“I’ve got absolutely NO problems with cops in general,” Ice-T tweeted today. “Just some people are a**holes. They don’t have to be cops. A suska [sic] is a sucka.”Ice-T is attempting to turn the whole fiasco into a positive learning experience. “The whole s**t was a joke. But it showed me how eager some people are to see me in handcuffs,” Ice-T tweeted. “Good wake up call 4 me.”

Exclusive: Foxy Brown’s Manager Comments On Rapper’s Arrest

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn, New York rapper Foxy Brown issued a statement to AllHipHop.com today (July 22nd) addressing her arrest yesterday for allegedly violating a protective order filed by a longtime neighborhood rival. Arlene Raymond called the cops yesterday (July 21st), after she engaged in a verbal altercation with Brown in their Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, neighborhood. According to the police report, Brown was arrested for calling Raymond a  “dirty b**ch” and for lifting her skirt and showing Raymond exposed her bare butt while telling her to “kiss her ass.”“Foxy is completely innocent of these charges. She is in good spirits and will be performing at B.B. Kings this Sunday,” Brown’s manager Bernadette Brennan told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive statement. “We are going to clear our client of all charges and continue to move forward in a productive and successful manner.”According to Brennan, Foxy Brown is currently at Night Life Studios in New York, where she is rehearsing for her upcoming show at B.B. Kings, which also features A.Z., Cormega and others. Foxy Brown, born Inga Marchand, is accused of violating a Raymond’s protective order against the rap star. As a result, she has been charged with six criminal offenses, including public lewdness, criminal contempt, menacing and harassment. “Foxy is feeling good and she’s happy to be back in the studio and making music. We also intend to prove that an order of protection should be used as a shield and not a sword,” Brennan told AllHipHop.com.

Wale In Hot Water With Baltimore Officials Over Performance

(AllHipHop News) Washington, D.C. rapper Wale is in hot water with officials in the city of Baltimore, after he used profanity and racial slurs during a free-city event on Sunday (July 18th). The rapper was the headlining act at Artscape when he allegedly used the objectionable language during a performance. According to Tracy Baskerville of the Office of Promotion and the Arts, they were “deeply disturbed” by Wale’s crass language and apologized to anyone who may have been offended.  Last month, Wale drew headlines when he pulled out of a performance at the D.C Black Pride event for the LGBT community, allegedly due to a “scheduling conflict.”After pressure, the rapper eventually agreed to show up at the event, where he apologized to the LGBT community for any misperceptions the scheduling conflict may have caused. ”One thing I stand for is hip hop music. And hip hop music knows no race, no color, no age, no gender, no sexual orientation — none of that,” Wale said. “So, the most important thing about it is the music, and if it makes the people feel happy, that’s what we hear.”

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

The Rise Of Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop

“You can’t talk about slinging crack rocks and having a wicked jump shot. The left digit in your age is a four,” Questlove of The Roots says with eery frankness. “You can’t talk about, ‘What up, boo? Come around my way.’ Your subject matter has to be a lil’ bit different.”

Straight up…a lot of Hip-Hop fans are sick and tired – tired of “candy-coated” songs with nursery rhyme-inspired hooks and redundant talk about diamonds, cars, and women. Rap’s diverse styles have their place within the genre, but some fans are calling for music with more meaningful content that speaks to the triumphs and struggles of everyday people.

With the popularity and longevity possessed by some rappers, such as LL Cool J, members of Wu Tang Clan, The Roots, and Jay-Z, both old and young rap fans are slowly growing accustomed to a maturing hip-hop sound. And, as rappers and fans alike evolve gracefully to the beat, an emerging market for rap aficionados is taking shape.

Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop is defined as rap infused with content relevant to rap’s “mature” listening audience.

The ACHH rap movement isn’t so much about age as it is about satisfying the evolving tastes of rap fans of all ages.

After more than 30 years of evolution and accolades, rap – even old school – has substance these days, and its core urban market has grown up along with it.

Rapper Dres from Black Sheep fame – who is making a comeback with a new solo CD called From the Black Pool of Genius – is relishing in the buzz about his grown man sound. His album features collaborations with MCs such as old school Native Tongue posse members Q-Tip, Dave from De La Soul, and Mike Gee from the Jungle Brothers on the track “Birds of a Feather.” To older rap fans, Black Pool may sound a bit like nostalgia mixed with plain good MC’ing and production; to newbies, it will be a brand new experience – what Dres calls “nouveau-retro.

Dres of Black Sheep – “Doin It Wrong (Remix)” Produced by Jim B.

To boot, after all these years, Dres is making cheese off of hamsters dressed as old school MCs – dookie ropes, Tims, and all – as the Kia Soul car makers pay comedic homage to his nearly 20-year-old pop classic “The Choice is Yours.”  (Click here for the video) Teenagers who rocked to Black Sheep’s critically-acclaimed debut Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing in 1991 are now in their 30s, and are employees, parents, and voters who are calling for something new.

“I do know that [back then], we were staying very true to ourselves in making music,” Dres says during an AllHipHop interview in Manhattan, “much more so than the formulaic blueprint today, where cats do something that proceeded them that worked.” He says he comes from a place where MCs purposely tried to do something that sounded like nothing else: “That’s where you got your accolades, as opposed to today.” ACHH may serve as a new blueprint.

The original DJS and MCs in the 1970s Bronx who gave birth to the rap genre are nearing 50. Even the pioneers of the 1980s – MCs like Big Daddy Kane and Ice Cube – have surpassed the 40-mark and now celebrate fatherhood and finer living, as opposed to Gucci and gangbanging. Kane is reportedly set to release a CD this year recorded with a live band, and Special Ed is making a comeback, too. Some believe that the aging of Hip-Hop is lending to the rise of Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop.

Questlove from The Roots says that while hip-hop has traditionally been sold as a youth-based culture, he doesn’t necessarily agree. “This is the first generation that’s going to have a hard time dealing with midlife crisis,” he tells AllHipHop. “It’s like what do you talk about when the left digit in your age is a four?”

Questlove Talks About Breaking 40

Artists and record labels are taking notice of the budding ACHH movement, and some are pondering the possibility of a new ACHH division or award category, as they search for ways to bring in sorely-needed industry revenue.

Sha Money XL, the new Senior Vice President of A&R for Def Jam Recordings, acknowledges that Hip-Hop is maturing and noted that “one of the best rappers alive is 40. Back in the day, we used to look at 40 like it was old, but it’s really not.”

The bottom line is that most record labels and radio stations make money by staying on top of trends. And while the ACHH trend is growing, MCs like Jay-Z have to blend mature lyrics with pop hooks and catchy beats to cater to a wide range of rap fans. Some insiders believe the industry will always lean heavily toward a younger, fresher sound and artist pool.

“I still have to cater to the youth,” says Sha Money XL, “because those are the ones that are really running to the concerts, running to buy the CDs. That’s the generation that we have to focus on, so I can’t just turn my back on the youth, even though [ACHH] is mostly my generation of people. But I feel like this should become a new genre for those old hip-hop heads that really want that adult contemporary hip-hop sound…there should be someone who caters to that.”

Forty-year-old rappers may exist, but Sha Money XL says not to expect any brand-new 30- and 40-something artists to break through. Besides, as he points out, there are plenty of existing rappers, both young and older, to fill the market. Until there is a change, Sha Money XL applauds Jay-Z for having already cornered the market on everything including ACHH, and he anticipates Jay-Z as “the world’s first billionaire rapper – not billionaire entrepreneur – but billionaire rapper.”

Rolling Stone magazine recently described mogul Jay-Z and his maturing style as working “the space between Roc Boy and society man, name-dropping Cosa Nostra and Obama.” On a similar note, LL Cool J’s new track “LLovely Day” manages to keep the icon’s youthful, sex symbol status intact as he drops lines like “Wedding bells jing-a-ling/ let the champagne spill/ we both grown/ we both pay our own bills.” The song samples the well-known “Lovely Day” tune written by Bill Withers, an artist whom most young rap fans have likely never heard of.

LL Cool J – “LLovely Day”

Stepping into the ACHH realm has its risks, though. Wu-Tang veteran Ghostface took a gamble with a mostly R&B inspired album in 2009 on Def Jam entitled Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City. As of December 2009, the CD had only sold about 43,000 copies. Similarly, when Jay-Z tried to overtly demonstrate his maturity on Kingdom Come, the results were mixed. Thee days, Jay admits changes are needed, but it has to happen naturally.

“I think the problem with people, as they start to mature, they say, ‘Rap is a young man’s game,’ and they keep trying to make young songs. But you don’t know the slang — it changes every day,” Jay-Z told Rolling Stone last month in a July cover story. “You can visit the topic, but these young kids live it every day, and you’re just visiting. So you’re trying to be something you’re not, and the audience doesn’t buy into that. And people wonder why [they’re not selling]. ‘I made a great Southern bounce song!’ You’re from New York, and you’re 70! Why are you bouncing?”

Even 50 Cent altered from his usual beef-n-brawn lyrics in recent years, with songs like “Baby By Me” on 2009’s Before I Self Destruct, featuring a fictional “white picket-fence” life with wifey Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child as they raise triplet boys. 50’s change in tone didn’t reflect greater album sales – BISD was his lowest selling album since his career skyrocketed, selling under 500,000 copies in the U.S. On top of that, he caught flack from some of his hardcore fans.

For others, rappers like Wale and Canadian-born, Young Money artist Drake are finding success while filling a mature void, defying the notion that ACHH is age-restricted. On “Find Your Love” Drake croons, “Too many times I’ve been wrong/I guess being right takes too long/I’m done waiting, there’s nothing left to do/But give all I have to you” – not the typical content for a rapper his age. However, at 23, part of his rise to meteoric status, with most credit coming before he ever signed a deal, is due to his unique content and wide age appeal.

Dres describes Hip-Hop today as a “teenager” – on the verge of growing up, but still holding on to some of its youthful ways: “When you’re a teenager, you kind of have a good idea about a few things, but the biggest thing you don’t know is that you really don’t know anything.”

He adds: “Fast forward to today, and we’ve got all of these millionaires and hundreds of thousandaires that would rather spend [money] in the name of shining…Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop is an opportunity for us to make Hip-Hop what it’s supposed to be…something that’s very self-sufficient and empowering.”

Rapper Foxy Brown Charged With ‘Mooning’ Neighbor During Altercation

(AllHipHop News) Details surrounding Foxy Brown’s arrest yesterday (July 21st) in the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood where she resides, are emerging. Brown was arrested yesterday after becoming involved in a verbal altercation with Arlene Raymond, the woman with whom the rapper has been feuding with since at least 2007. During the altercation yesterday,  the pair allegedly became involved in a dispute over the volume of Foxy Brown’s music, as she was reportedly rehearsing for her upcoming show at B.B. Kings on July 25th. Raymond claims that Brown walked up to her home, called her a “dirty b**ch” and then lifted her skirt and “mooned” her, or exposed her bare butt. TMZ.com obtained a copy of the police report, which claims Foxy Brown “bent over and thrust [her] buttocks at the [neighbor] while shouting … ‘kiss my ass.'”Brown and Raymond have fought over the rapper’s lifestyle in the neighborhood in the past. In July of 2007, the two fought because Foxy Brown was playing her car stereo at a loud volume in the Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, neighborhood. Brown allegedly assaulted Raymond with her cellphone during the altercation. Foxy Brown eventually entered into a plea deal, in which she wrote a letter apologizing to Raymond. Raymond was also issued an order of protection against Foxy Brown, which was violated during the altercation yesterday (July 21st). Foxy Brown, born Inga Marchand, has been charged with six criminal offenses, including public lewdness, criminal contempt, menacing and harassment.

Exclusive: Lloyd Banks Beats Assault Charge In Canada

(AllHipHop News) G-Unit member Lloyd Banks won a major victory in court last week (July 15th), when an Ontario judge dismissed criminal charges against the Queens, New York rapper. The charges stemmed from an incident in January of 2010, when Lloyd Banks, born Christopher Lloyd and a group of men allegedly assaulted Chris Hines, a well known booking agent in Ontario, Canada. Banks and several other men were accused of assaulting Hines after a show at Club NV, just outside of Ontario. Hines claimed that Banks and several other men held him hostage in a hotel room and assaulted him for over 20 minutes. Last week, Justice Michael Epstein dismissed all charges relating to the January incident, which sparked headlines around the world. “Banks would like to thank his Canadian counsel, Patrick Ducharme, and the authorities in Ontario for doing ‘the right thing,” Banks’ United States lawyer, Scott Leemon ESQ., told AllHipHop.com. “After a careful and neutral evaluation of the facts, it is good to see that the system actually worked,” Leemon stated. “With this finally behind him, Banks looks forward to coming back to Canada soon.”Charges were also withdrawn against two other men in the assault case, while a third, Nicklas Sloane, pled guilty to assault and received a $2,500 fine.

DEF JAM BLOCKING JEEZY’S “BMF”????

So, yesterday I messed up and added the wrong version of “The Real BMF (Blowing Money Fast).” So, I went to add it again. Guess what? I couldn’t find the damn thing! It was eradicated from most major sites as a copyright infringment video! Off all the videos, that one? Hmmmmmmm…. Sounds like def Jam is doing the same thing they did when Nas said “Hip-Hop Is Dead” and Jeezy got offended.  They’re stopping two of their biggest investments, I mean STARS from fighting! They’ll squash it, I am sure. Jeezy just needs to say, “Man, Meech ask me to do that for him, Rick.” LOL!

T.I. AND TINY TO GET MARRIED?

I don’t know, but the word is Tip and Tiny may finally jump the broom out in Hawaii on a very private island. The couple has been out there already since Monday. Time will reveal.

FAB LOSES RHYME BLACKBERRY?

Remember back in the days cats used to have rhyme books? This was where all your dope raps would go. These days, they don’t do that old school, museum  ish. They put them in a BlackBerry  or something. Apparently, Fabolous is one of these rappers like Drake. Fab was out at Morton’s Steakhouse in Hackensack, New Jersey, eating and having fun. But, when he left, he left  his Berry behind and it was full of raps. He was even “writing” raps at dinner. How he did it, I don’t know, but he left his Berry in the restaurant. Lucky for him a nice server came and gave it to him before he left. That waiter could have been putting out a mixtape next week!

NE-YO’S NAME COMES UP IN UNDERAGE PROSTITUTION RING!

Apparently, there is an underage prostitution ring in France that has nabbed a big time soccer player there named Frank Ribery. This Frank dude was doing the doo allegedly with an underage prostitute Zahia Dehar. Now somehow or another, Ne-Yo’s name has come up in the mess. There is no clear reason why, but a French site is  dropping dime. Oh yeah, the prostitute is a male. OY!

All  my French readers, help! Here is the source and it is in French!

KRAYZIE BONE IS A JEHOVAH WITNESS?

RIRI TO SWITCH UP!?

Rihanna’s wild ways made interesting stuff to yap about in the tabloids, but homegirl hasn’t sold the way she seemingly should. The concert tickets and the record sales have been lacking. I’m hearing  she is going to do a change up on her next album. I wonder if she will go back to this:

or this?

Oh yeah, Ke$ha recently said she and Rihanna have naked slumber parties. She was kidding.

KANYE ISN’T SMASHING SHAY FROM THE UK!

I been peepin’ Shay from the UK and she hasn’t said a word since the rumors of her and Kanye started. Not a word. Not even a tweet! She’s playing the game for a few, I bet. But from what I hear, she’s not actually dating Yeezy at all. Not even smash buddies.

Foxy Brown Arrested On Felony Charge

After looking at Brown, the rapper reportedly ask Raymond, “B***h what you looking at?”Raymond immediately called the police, sources say.Brown was formally charged with one count of criminal contempt, a class E felony.Neither Brown nor a representative was available for comment. In related news, Foxy Brown has a concert on July 25 at BB King’s Nightclub in New York City.

Khujo Goodie Freed; Lawyer Explains Rapper’s Arrest

(AllHipHop News) A lawyer for Goodie Mob member Khujo Goodie explained his client’s recent arrest and why the rapper was able to beat a two-year sentence today (July 21st) in court. According to Khujo’s lawyer Daniel Kane, the rapper was ordered to serve two-years out of a five year sentence starting in June. Kane told Atlanta’s Creative Loafing that Khujo, born Willie Knighton Jr., was convicted on three felony charges in two separate incidents: once for possession of a firearm and another one for having marijuana in his possession. Prosecutors sentenced Khujo Goodie under the assumption that he was already a convicted felon, due to a previous gun charge in 1990. According to Kane, the charge in 1990 was legally void and should have been removed from Khujo Goodie’s record under the First Offender Act, thus allowing the rapper to be released from prison today. “The mistake was that they thought he was a convicted felon because they thought he was convicted in 1990,” Kane told Creative Loafing. “So I went back into the archives and got the 1990 case, researched it, pulled the records and presented them to the district attorney and the judge in Henry County and said he could never be a felon in possession of a firearm — there were three counts — because he was never a convicted felon. It was a first offender case, and the court agreed.” Khujo was greeted by Goodie Mob members Cee-Lo and Big Gipp, as well as Dungeon Family/Outkast member Big Boi. A new sentencing hearing is slated for August 3rd. Khujo Goodie is featured on Big Boi’s new upcoming single “Tangerine” featuring T.I., taken from Big Boi’s new album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.

AllHiphop ChartWatch: Eminem Stays King! Drakee Eases To Plat! Rick Ross Hits Charts!

ChartWatch for July

21, 2010Once again it’s the ChartWatch.  We give you the album sales in rap music for

the previous week and let you know some of the new Hip Hop dropping this

week.  We start this week off with an

artist that’s been number one for the last three weeks and this week is no

different.  Eminem continues his reign on

the top of the charts selling 194,072 of his seventh studio album, Recovery.  The album has sold a total of 1,502,566

copies to date.  Yo Em! Now that you’ve

recovered why don’t you go across the hall and help out 50?

He is followed by Drake, who has managed to keep the number

two spot since Eminem hit the charts, but this week falls to number three.  The Canadian MC moves another 48,635 copies

of his debut, Thank Me Later.  So far Drake has sold 846,042 copies of his official

entrance into the music world.  I was

thinking this album would hit platinum sooner but it’s making good progress.

Now the next artist was the third highest selling Hip Hop

artist last week and this week is the same…sort of.  Last week Big Boi held the number three spot

but this week he drops to number 15.  Sir Luscious Left Foot the Son of Chico

Dusty sells 24,081 copies bringing the albums total two week sales to

83,124.  This isn’t what fans expect from

an artist like Big Boi but the way this album was handled (sitting on the shelf

for three years, leaking out a couple of singles with no push, blocking

Andre3000 from being on the album, and where the hell is the song “Royal Flush”?…..)

couldn’t have helped sales.

Next we have The Black Eyed Peas whose latest album The E.N.D moves up one spot to number

23.  This week the album move 15,590

bringing the total sales to 2,654,806.  I

clown the Black Eyed Peas each time I have to write about them but this time

I’ll give them the week off.

The Hip Pop group is followed by Atlanta rapper B.o.B whose

debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray,

has been slowly (but surely) maintaining its burn on the charts.  This week the album falls five spots to

number 30 selling 12,583 copies.  So far

B.o.B’s total sales are 285,944.

The Root’s latest album, How

I Got Over, comes in at number 38 this week selling 10,744 and bringing the

albums total sales to 91,141.  It seems

like the general consensus is that the band makes money off of touring so low

album sales aren’t that bad.  Make no

mistake though, this is a good album.  I

think I’ve been saying this since the album came out so I’ll lay off before

someone says I’m working for the Roots or something.

Finally, New Orleans MC Curren$y enters the charts with his

latest album, Pilot Talk.  The album takes the 48th spot and

sells 8,848 copies.  Not the best sales

wise for the first artists off the newly launched Roc-A-Fella records but the

album is solid.  Curren$y fans won’t be disappointed

listening to this one.

Dropping This Week

People, by nature, are fickle when in large groups.  They can love you one moment and hate you the

next.  If you have any doubts of this

asks Mel Gibson…or Michael Vick…or Hilary Clinton… or Ja Rule….or Lebron James….and,

if he doesn’t put out a good album soon, 50 Cent (no hate….just honesty….and

please don’t tell me Before I Self

Destruct was a classic.  I heard

it.  It’s not.).  Like Method Man says “You’re only as good as

your last hit.”  So you put out a hit or

do well in your profession and all of a sudden people start to like you

again.  If you have any doubts of this

asks Tiger Woods….or Kobe Bryant….or Lebron James (next year after Miami

destroys the league)…or 50 Cent (next year when he gets hungry and drops a good

album).  This brings us to the artist

dropping this week… Rick Ross. Somehow…someway…this guy is still making

music.  His new album is called Teflon Don because nothing seems to

stick to this dude.  He just keeps

rapping.  It’s like rapping is his answer

to all of life’s problems.  You drop your

first album and most fans say you can’t rap.

What do you do?  Keep

rapping.  Exposed as a former

correctional officer even though your raps are about being a major drug kingpin?  Keep rapping.

Beef with 50Cent? Keep rapping.

Baby momma put on internet in a p####?

Keep rapping.  Kids and other baby

momma put on the internet hanging with 50 Cent, your public tormentor? Keep

rapping.  The original Rick Ross sues you

for taking his name?  Keep rapping?  Spoiled, talentless grandchild of the

original Teflon Don calls you out in the public for stealing family name?  I think you get the picture.  That brings us to today.  Rick Ross drops his fourth album featuring

Jay-Z, John Legend, Cee-Lo, T.I., Jadakiss, Erykah Badu, Kanye West, Ne-Yo,

Trey Songz, Diddy, Gucci Mane, Styles P, Drake, Chrisette Michele, and Raphael

Saadiq.  If you like Ross this album is apparently

already a classic, and if you hate Ross it is apparently the worst album on the

face of the earth.  My guess is it’s

somewhere in between.  I don’t know what

the big deal about Rick is but he seems to get attention (positive and

negative).  We’ll see if that attention

garners some sales.Read the review for Rick Ross’ Teflon Don, click here.

NOT GUCCI, BUT JEEZY…BEEF WITH ROSS?

Young Jeezy had a pretty intimate relationship with BMF in his early days. The relationship was so close, it seemed like Jizzle was going to get caught up in all the mess that eventually took them down. So, now…Jeezy releases a new song called “The Real BMF” and it certainly seems like there’s friction! I mean, HEY…listen for yourself!

And there is Big Meech on the phone…uh oh. As Robocop would say: “TROUBLE.”

Did Meech put a battery in Jeezy’s back? This could get downright ugly, because these dudes are some of the best the south has to offer these days! (don’t “hate”) Anyway, Jeezy ain’t taking any direct shots at Ross and they have worked together in the past so maybe this is just a knee jerk reply.

The song is dope though! Big Meech is going in though!

How did I mess this up? Gucci – Jeezy? Damn! Better late than never!

RICK ROSS TALKS ABOUT IT…HERE!

Somebody, pick up a phone!!!

These dudes are pals!RAWSE AND JIZZLEN, WE LOVE YOU!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then

they should worry!
