Da Brat has kept a low profile since her 2008 conviction and incarceration for assault. Now, the Chicago native is seeking to discover new talent in her prison through a talent search.
Da Brat (Shawntae Harris) is serving her three year sentence at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto, Georgia. According to officials, the rapper was able to secure approval to host an event shes coined Showtime at Alto.
While following the model of the legendary Apollo, Brat colleague and friend DJ Nabs will handle music duties. Da Brat brainstormed the showcase as an outlet for inmates to reveal their talents and hopefully cultivate them as a creative outlet during their sentences. Furthermore, she hopes those with lighter sentences may consider pursuing their talents further upon release.
If successful, Brat plans to push for prison authorities to make the showcase an annual event.
Da Brat herself is in the second year of her three year bid for attacking an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader in 2007.
According to court records, the veteran emcee accosted cheerleader Shayla Stevens at a Lawrenceville, GA nightclub. After words were exchanged, Da Brat bludgeoned the woman with a rum bottle. In the ensuing melee, the woman fell down a number of stairs and sliced her face open on a cement floor.
In addition to her sentence, Da Brat is also required to complete programs for substance abuse, mental health, anger management, and 200 hours of community service.
Upon release, Hip-Hops first female platinum artist will complete 7 years of probation to end her debt to society.
At press time, a tentative release date has not been announced.
Jhung Yuro recently unveiled its Fall 2009 Collection of sneakers. Jhung Yuro (pronounced Young Euro) is an independent sneaker company that handcrafts each sneaker.
The company was launched in 2005 by Kris Wright. The inspiration for the company is based on Wrights travels throughout the world.
AllHipHop.com sat down with Wright to discuss the origins of Jhung Yuro, the plans for his company and his goals for the 2009 Jhung Yuro collection.
AllHipHop.com: What was the inspiration for the Jhung Yuro Fall 2009 Collection?
Kris Wright: The Fall 2009 Jhung Yuro line was inspired by formal leather bottom men’s shoes that are typically worn by professionals that wear traditional business attire. What we able to take from these traditional hard bottom shoes and apply them to our shoes were clean lines, rich subtle details and the 80/20 color strategy which in case of the Yuro Fall collection is a majority of muted colors that falls right in line with the Fall season and nice complementary accent colors.
AllHIpHop.com: Tell us about the Fall Collection?
Kris Wright: The best way to describe the Fall collection is tight and right. We have been riding on the strategy of less is more for the back half of 2009. in the past we have offered broad assortments of product and a lot of good shoes would get lost in the mix of just having to much product. For 2009 we decided concentrated on developing the new models that we collectively felt was the right direction A. For the brand and B. Market ready. The product follows the same formula the has defined Jhung Yuro product from the brands inception, rich full grain leathers, suades, nubucks and patent leathers. Napa Pig Skin collar/sock lining and sock EVA sockliners for comfort when wearing the product.
AllHipHop.com: How did you come up with the name Jhung Yuro?
Kris Wright: The name was given to me as a nickname by my crew of friends about 8 years ago because of my affinity for traveling around the world. It began with just Yuro initially but then I was dubbed Jhung Yuro because I was the youngest of my group of friends. Additionally we all decided we would create a unique spelling for the name because we did not want the name to be to literally like the European Union’s currency and the dictionary term young.
AllHipHop.com: How did you get into the footwear business?
Kris Wright: I started my career in footwear as an intern for Reebok International while I was attending Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. Funny but true story I always knew that I wanted to be in the footwear industry, and I was persistent and diligent in my pursuit of looking for an internship. I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, knocking on all of the right doors because it earned me my first ever internship and an 8 year kick start at Reebok which has turned into 13 years in the business.
AllHipHop.com: Is this what you envisioned going into the shoe game?
Kris Wright: Yes, becoming an entrepreneur is something that I always wanted for myself and aspired to be, however I did not actually know that the many job descriptions I held at Reebok would transition me into owning my own brand. I actually used to work in Sports Marketing working with professional athletes that Reebok signed to contracts and I thought my career would have continued in sports marketing transitioning into another company, industry or working on my own. Fortunately enough I was presented with an opportunity by a good friend that I worked for at Reebok to manage one of the brands hottest footwear business units at the time. Taking this job set the stage for me to become better educated on the product side of the business. Everything I learned and the experience I got managing the product side of the business was invaluable.
AllHipHop.com: What type of style would you say Jhung Yuro has?
Kris Wright: Jhung Yuro is best defined as a metropolitan lifestyle footwear brand, from a styling point of view.
AllHipHop.com: Do you plan on collaborating with any recording artists or celebrities in the future that you can discuss? Kris Wright: No celebrity collaborations or partnerships are on the horizon for the brand.
AllHipHop.com: If so, in what capacity? What are your future plans for the brand, where would you like to see it go?
Kris Wright: As a small independent brand the goal is always growth at the end of the day. Growth will come in many different forms inclusive of broader distribution, increased volume of production, robust sales and broad consumer appeal. I’m no different than any other person that owns or runs a business, I would like Jhung Yuro to experience the benefits that our great capitalist country has to offer popular consumer product brands.

KANYE WEST TO WRESTLE IN THE WWE?
According to Ewrestlingnews.com, Kanye West is going to take his entertaining exploits to the WWE for an estimated $10 Million! Ahhhh…come on! Do you believe that? Here is what they had to say about it:
The report states that Vince McMahon and WWE have offered Kanye close to $10 million to show up at 3 events two television appearances and one pay-per-view event.
While the idea of Kanye in WWE sounds like a great chance for WWE to get some mainstream media attention, take this report as a rumor at best. Several years ago this same site reported rapper Eminem was training to become a WWE superstar (never happened), so consider the source.
They are saying he is seriously considering this? I just don’t believe it. But then again..anything is possible!
IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHERE THE ROC SIGN CAME FROM, SEE WHAT JAY SAYS.
LOL @ Jay doing all this elaborate press overseas. I know the chick is with the BBC, but she didn’t even know what the Roc sign was.
I don’t know, Jay! He was stuttering a bit!
JIM JONES CAR CRASH?
I heard that Jim Jones may have had some issues last week when his pricey Bentley was somehow crashed. According to my rumor, Jim quite possibly had a driver of some sort that may have lost control of the vehicle and resulted in a wreck. I didnt really hear of any injuries so I am going to assume that Jim Jones is good to go hopefully he had insurance.
JA RULE IS THAT RICH?
I dont know why, but somebody sent me the following information. I have no idea what prompted them to do so.
In a 2008 networth scan, Ja Rule had a networth estimated at nearly 90 million. Ja Rule was the executive producer for his highest selling CDs to date. Ja Rule has sold 35 million records worldwide and from 2000-2002 he was the world’s fastest selling rapper and the highest paid as well. Ja Rule along with his former group, The Cash Money Click, settled with a $45 million dollar claim in the crew’s unreleased material handeled by TVT Records, Ja getting a costly $38 million of the stake. From his small appearences in 14 movies, 5 of those box office hits, Ja Rule has made an estimated $16.2 million. Ja Rule also teamed up with Irv Gotti in 2004 and created the urban clothing line ErvingGeoffery, which sells fairly well in the big city market. Other money making attributes include Ja Rule’s alcoholic beverage Momo Mojito and the very profitable L.I.F.E. Foundation, which schools over 2,500 students in New York, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, and Dallas. Ja Rule lives in a $1.2 million dollar home in Saddle River, New Jersey and also owns 2 multi-million dollar mansions in California and owns a $3.5 million dollar mansion in Miami. Ja Rule makes an estimated $7.5 million in touring in Europe and Asia, where he has an extremely strong fanbase.
DRAKE LASHES BACK OUT AT KIA SHINE
How long is this going to last?
“There have been questions posed to me the last few days about the writing of ‘Best I Ever Had’ and I figured I’d take the time to clear the air directly. I have never met Kia Shine or worked with him. I wrote the entire composition in Toronto and I borrowed one line from a Lil Wayne song that he produced the BEAT for. The claims of 25% ownership are false and for a artist to brag about splits on a song is distasteful to begin with.”
This is actually from last week…but I never used it.

VARIOUS RUMORS
Shout out to Mikey The Movie Star, who hit me with some rumors. I hope you enjoy them.
Max B is still holding on. From what I understand, he is looking to make one last push at a bid for freedom. Mikeys telling me that his former assistant has been linked in with G-Unit and his statue with them is still intact. Apparently, Maxs former assistant is now booking shows for Tony Yayo and helping him sell verses and hooks. I am hearing that if Max does get out of jail, he hopes to move over there to G-Unit.
Could it be that Black Child of Murder Inc fame be getting into the movie game? Thats the word that he is included in a few movie with Nipsey Hussell, Gillie Da Kid and Ving Rhames.
There is a certain NY rapper that may have a problem of the R. Kelly type. I am hearing that this rapper may have a warrant out for his arrest for having sex with an underage teen down in Georgia. This rumor comes from somebody down in GA that says they have seen this rappers face posted in the police department at some precinct down there.

“I’m here to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here’s hoping Kanye West likes 30 Rock” – Neil Patrick Harris
I heard Jimmy Fallon also had some serious joke for Ye.
What is up with Fabolous? This dude is joking somebody every time I turn around! This time he just go in on FloRidah for no apparent reason! Just joking, but nevertheless, this is rap and people dont always have the best sense of humor. Here is a sampling of what Fab said.

ILLSEEDS QUICKIES
Looks like Def Jam needs to get that 4th quarter money swoop! They are saying that the label is pushing very hard for Rihanna do drop another CD before we ring in the new year.
Anybody seen the preview for that new Jamie Foxx movie called Law Abiding Citizen? Man, that thing looks like The Silence of the Lambs assassin version.
More RIP goes to DJ Roc Raida, who died mysteriously over the weekend. Nobody knows what happened. Hes was one of the greats though.
The Friars Club of NY has offered Kanye West a roast since his incident at the VMAs. I dont think Kanye is going to go for that, especially in light of the Jay Leno interview.
Madonna and Janet Jackson are working on a duet together. Michael would be proud.
Madonna had done a song with Lil Wayne for her new album, Celebration.
Smif N Wesson are reportedly doing an album with Pete Rock!
Did I say this before? There is a rumor that Chris Brown wants to be a minister. I dont really believe it though.
Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom are rumored to be looking into marital options.
Did the VMA controversy cause Kanye to have to cancel his tour with Lady Gaga or is this the break Kanye was talking about.
Keyshia Cole may be pregnant. What else can we muster up?
RIHANNA AS A 15 YEAR OLD .
OUCH! She sure couldnt sing this is a remarkable turn around.
EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!
People, people, PEOPLE! At some point in time, we have GOT to do better! A man in NJ did the most dastardly thing I have seen in a long, long time. This dude was being chased by the cops and he decided do take the cocaine and stuff it in the coat of his 4-year-old son. What did he do? Told his kid it was candy. So what did his kid do? The son went to school with the cocaine and started to give it out to his classmates, thinking it really was candy. One kid actually ate the coke, but didnt even get sick. Three other kids were rushed to the hospital for precautions. I wonder what dude is going to say on Career Day? Wow what a sad Thanksgiving Day story these folks will have.
EPIC WIN OF THE DAY!
I know Beyonce gets a lot of hate, but you cannot hate on this one. She took a cancer stricken child on stage with her and sang Halo to her. This took place in Sydney. Man, people were reportedly crying all over the place. Hell, I might have cried if I was there in the flesh. Damn, B. I hope that kids spirit is raised and she survives.
WHO CARES?
Apparently, some of the previous models had some slick stuff to say about Tyra and Tyra was unwilling to go in on them. She should of slayed Janice, since she is clearly an overly duped up, prototype for plastic surgery.
KARATE BABY FOR THE WIN!
MOS DEF DISSES JAY LENO; DEFENDS KANYE!
LOL! Called Jay a banana face! Check it out.
SOULJA BOY TELL EM GETS A FACELIFT
Damn, I never really liked Soulja Boys song until I heard this version. A German (Die Orsons) group took Turn My Swag On and made it into a political song against child soldiers. Actually .very said. Wake up.
MAD? NO, SUH.
RIHANNA AT 40/40
Over the weekend, RiRi took some time at the club that Jay-Z built.
CHANCE’S RUMORS!!!!!!!!!!!!Chance is weighing in on some stuff that I missed. Check him out. As always, his views reflect his views – not AllHipHop.com or illseed.
CHANCE VS 50 CENTI’ve never watched the Real & Chance show. The whole thing is just like a big joke to me and it’s not funny at all. It just makes them look like clowns and lets be real the ladies are only there to do something strange for a little change (shouts to Mike Epps). With that being said apparently Chance, whose now down with TI????? … has a problem with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

THE FRESH PRINCE WORSHIPS ALIENS?
I don’t know much about this Scientology thing but I do know something just ain’t right about it. The fact that it was created by a science fiction author is enough to conjure up images of kool-aid drinking, snuggie wearing weirdos waiting for the mothership to make contact. I mean Tom Cruise is involved so how sane can it be?? Well it looks like Will Smith is down for the cause. In 2008 Will donated about $122,000 to Scientology related groups and earlier in the summer Will and Jada fired the headmaster of a school they opened and replaced her with someone who would integrate the “religion” into the curriculum. So this is whats hot in the streets now Will?
RIP AJILE TURNERCommon’s cousin Ajile Turner was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday night when his motorcycle collided with a man on a bicycle at the corner of Green Ave. and Washington Ave. in Brooklyn. Both men were rushed to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. RIP and as always keep the family in your prayers.
I’M JUST SAYIN’I saw the MTV special on Janet’s performance at the VMA’s this weekend. I knew Chris Judd (J. Lo’s ex) was up there but I didnt know it was all choreographers. Makes sense now dopest tribute yet.

New 50 Cent Dreamin’ Produced by Dr. Dre
50 Cent is striking from just about every angle imaginable. Think books, think videos, think the internet, think the streets. What next? Well, the music is what has been a reoccurring next for Curtis.
DJ Kay Slay has this new gem by 50 Cent and it features production from none other than Dr. Dre. This song is from Slays new album, More Than Just A DJ.
Could this be a forecasting of what is to come for Dre and 50, who both have highly delayed projects?
Only time will tell.

Mayweather Dominates Marquez
Ring rust wasnt a factor on Saturday (September 19) as Floyd Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) easily decisioned an outgunned Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KOs).
With it being Mexican Independence Day Weekend, Marquez was a huge crowd favorite. The roars were deafening and the future Mexican Hall of Famer had the look of a determined fighter. Mayweather came out solemnly to no music, perhaps alluding to a new, all business attitude.
After an opening jab contest, Mayweather began connecting with his trademark lead left hook. Marquezs attempts to initiate offense were picked off by nice counter rights, and early on Floyd looked sharp.
Marquez sought to apply pressure in the 2nd. He clipped Mayweather with a nice overhand right, but later got caught with a lead left that dropped him. Now, the Mayweather fans let themselves be heard by chanting U-S-A! Mayweather went for the KO; unloading hard lead left and right hooks. But Marquez had been in this position before, and fired back flurries to close out the round.
By round 5, Marquez instinctively knew he was far behind and tried again to pick up the pace. But Floyd remained composed, easily slipping Marquezs combinations and working jarring check left hooks and short right counters to the head. The consistent blows opened a cut over Marquezs right eye, and bloodied his nose.
Throughout the middle rounds, Mayweathers jab routinely snapped Marquezs head back, and assisted in shutting down his offense, as Mayweather, Sr. had predicted. Juan couldnt anticipate the jab or lead hooks, and by the time he went to counter Floyd was already out of position.
After buckling Marquez with counter hooks in the 9th, Mayweather switched to a high guard. The aim was clear; to knock Marquez out. Juan grimaced as another lead left hand landed, followed later by a slashing right hook to the body. The Mexican crowd still didnt give up cheering their man, and Marquez used their energy to remain upright under the assault. When another knockdown seemed close, Marquez flurried to create space, causing the defense-first Mayweather to reset. Still, the Michigan native cracked Marquez with another right hook, and taunted him after the bell.
Mayweather went for the KO again in the 11th. He stayed close to Juan, and delivered short, stinging potshots and counters. Marquez was languishing, and any attempts to buy time against the ropes were answered with hard hooks.
In the 12th, Floyd eased up and recommenced jabbing Marquez to death. When he sensed Juan was looking for it, Mayweather would then open up lead hooks. A beautiful left-right combination snapped Juans head in each direction, and Floyd received loud cheers at the bell.
Although Marquez was game, his offense was completely shut down and reflected in the lopsided scores of 118-109, 120-107, and 119-108.
While Floyd wanted to discuss his dominant win, HBO had other ideas. When commentator Max Kellerman questioned him on the missing weight by 2 pounds (146 instead of 144) and paying $600,000 in fines, Mayweather became visibly agitated and asked why money was being discussed. Kellerman then switched gears to Shane Mosley, whos still without an opponent following his January beatdown of Antonio Margarito.
Mayweather was calm at first, shaking Mosleys hand and telling him if the business was right the fight could be made since he fears no one. But Mosley was looking for a guarantee, and told him that the fans wanted to see it and it needs to happen now. This led to a heated back and forth, with Mayweather barking at Mosley about being disrespected. Sugar Shane stood his ground, trying to calm Mayweather down.
Kellerman jumped in a few times too many for Floyd, who reprimanded Max for talking too much before snatching the mic.
In the post-fight press room, De La Hoya was raving to us about Mayweathers performance, but remained dismissive when asked about a Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown.
Personally, I think a fight with Sugar Shane Mosley is the obvious fight to be made, De La Hoya argued. We saw what Marquez did to Pacquiao two times. Most say he won both, and you just saw what Mayweather did to Marquez. Yes, styles makes fights, but what do you think Mayweather will do to Pacquiao?
And theres the irony of these proposed superfights. Assuming Pac wins in November, Pacquiao-Mayweather is the biggest fight in boxing in decades. But competition-wise, Mosley represents a tougher challenge with his iron chin, more power, near equal speed, and great body punching.
So fight fans, which direction should Mayweather go in?
Despite Mexicos Independence Day, Mexican fighters didnt fare too well in the televised bouts.
Chris John UD Rocky Juarez 2: In an almost exact replica of their first fight, John outboxed Juarez until the 11th. John finally slowed down and was nearly KOd in the 12. But it was too late, and dejected Juarez hinted at retirement as this was his 5th world title attempt.
Michael Katsidis SD Vicente Escobedo: Even with a grotesque swollen jaw, Katsidis never stopped coming forward and outworked Escobedo in a bruising WBO title match. In the press room, both Katsidis and Marquez were open to facing each other next year.
De La Hoya Signs Linares
On Saturday (September 19), De La Hoya shot out an email regarding a surprise press conference to precede the fight. I had my fingers crossed, hoping it wasnt something dreadful like a comeback announcement for De La Hoya-Mayweather II. Thankfully, Oscar just wanted to confirm his signing of undefeated WBA junior lightweight champion Jorge Linares (27-0, 18 KOs). Check out the below clip and highlights of the man Golden Boy is banking on as its next big star.
Reminder: Klitschko-Arreola This Coming Saturday September 26 (HBO)
Althoughy many arent giving Arreola a chance, be sure to check out his title attempt against Vitali Klitschko on HBO. Odds are Arreola is getting KOd, but for however long it lasts hell put pressure on the older Klitschko, giving us an exciting fight.
Hip-Hop culture has always maintained a different outlook on America and politics and it is time we got down to serious dialogue. AllHipHops Social Lounge will discuss and rate how Obama has fared since his election at an event on October 17, 2009 at the NJPAC center in Newark, NJ (Buy Tickets Here). Panelists include Immortal Technique, Killer Mike, Raekwon, Ras Baraka, and Saigon, all of which will have something powerful to say on this topic. The event is hosted and moderated by AllHipHop.com co-founder Chuck Creekmur, who wrote extensively about the political landscape leading up to the election.
It has been over nine months since the United State elected Barak Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States.
Now, the president has hit rocky political waters and come under intense scrutiny from all sides, in particular the conservative Right. But, thats not all. It would appear that some ground had been lost in the Middle Class and independent voters, the block that really pushed to get Barack Obama into office. Theres the economy, health care and a plethora of other pertinent matters that stand to make or break Obama.
Prior to his victory last year, the president made it clear that the road to stabilizing the nation would not be one without its share of potholes and bumps. He also stated that change would involve the American people doing for self and their communities as well as transformation in Washington D.C. D.C.s most dramatic change has probably been having an African American First Family, which has been met with degrees of love and loathing. But, will Obama achieve what he sought out to do and how do YOU rate him as president thus far?
Time for honest, intelligent, real TALK and Immortal Technique, Killer Mike, Raekwon, Ras Baraka, and Saigon will bring it on October 17.
The Social Lounge will tackle Obamas approval rating with the Hip-Hop Nation, the “generational gap” (Read about this topic) in Rap and other matters. Click here to purchase tickets and for additional information.

Joe Wilson (the idiot) refusing to be muzzled after heckling the President during his recent health care speech, the question of the moment seems to be Who didnt take time out to act a damn fool this week? Even President Obama looked less than stellar after audio and video turned up of him calling Kanye a jackas
Thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends of actor Patrick Swayze who died Tuesday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer and Annie Le, the Yale student who’s dead body was found on the day of her wedding. Happy birthday to Reanea, who is celebrating with a well-deserved long weekend at the Grand Canyon with her fiancé. Shout out to Beyonce for inviting Taylor back on stage to have her moment from winning her first ever VMA and the sounding boards who always find a way to make the impossible possible.
And now the main course. Here is .the Last Word for the week ending Sept. 18, 2009.
1. Bobby Brown Channels Rick James; Reportedly Brings His Perogative to Celebrity Fit Club
It seems like Bobby Brown has seen better days. After his ex-wife Whitney Houston aired him out during her sit-down with Oprah, the crooner countered all the talk about him being such a negative influence on her by placing the demise of their relationship on both their hands.
I think we corrupted each other, the entertainer told The Insider. I dont think she hurt me or I hurt her in any way. I just think we had a 14-year marriage that had its ups and down and not many people understood it.
And while Whitney admitted to marijuana and crack cocaine being her drugs of choice, Bobby also subscribed to the white stuff as he indirectly brought back memories of the late Rick James by mentioning his favorite substance.
Cocaine. Its a powerful drug, Brown said as he tried to pinpoint his reason for seeking drugs to deal with his personal problems. I just think I was bored, you know. I had just gotten married and things wasnt right. Unfortunately, I turned to alcohol and drugs.
Looks like drugs and alcohol isnt the only thing Bobby turned to. Apparently the Brown bomber got his eat on a little too much and is now trying to slim down. According to reports, Brown is set to appear on the next season of VH1s Celebrity Fit Club.
Sources revealed to TMZ.com that Brown will be joined by several other stars that include actors from High School Musical, Baywatch and The Practice. No telling who these people are, but all will be revealed in time.
Nevertheless, just having Bobby on the show may be worth checking in. I can already see the drama unfold with all the stuff hell have to go through to lose weight. And with no drugs to lean on to get him through well, lets just say that every little step he takes to get his tenderoni status back will be very interesting.
2. Abercrombie & Fitch Wage Fierce War Against New Beyonce Fragrance
Who knew that being Sasha Fierce would be so complicated? Apparently, Beyonce Knowles is learning just that, thanks to a new lawsuit filed Tuesday (Sept. 15) against her by Abercrombie & Fitch.
WWD reports the clothing companys beef with the hitmaking diva stems from a new fragrance line she created and plans on releasing this spring. The new scent, which will be released under the Sasha Fierce name, is part of deal Beyonce signed with Coty Inc. to produce her own perfume.
For me, fragrance reflects a womans attitude and unique sense of style, said Beyonce, who didnt reveal a name for her perfume. While I love various perfumes, I havent found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one thats reflective of my inner power.
In its federal complaint, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Columbus, Ohio, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. allege that a scent with the name Sasha Fierce would infringe on its own Fierce cologne trademark and pose a likelihood of confusion for consumers. The company, which started selling its Fierce scent in 2002 and trademarked its mens cologne brand in 2003, says it spent more than $3 million in the last two years on scent machines that generate the fragrance throughout its 352 locations.
In the suit, Beyonces people countered A&Fs claims, as they believed that the general public would have no problem telling the difference between the two scents.
Upon discovering that Beyonce filed an application for Sasha Fierce trademarks in 2008, Abercrombie sent a sent cease and desist letter to the singer. But Bey didnt back off and continued to get the trademark for the scent. According to federal records, A&F filed a still-pending opposition to Knowles trademark application in May.
Bottom line: A&F wants an injunction to stop Knowles use of the Fierce name for fragrance as well as attorneys fees, among other things.
All of this over one word. Is it that serious for people to actually try to distinguish between the two scents? Sounds like more trouble than its worth. After all, Abercrombies fragrance will be sold in their stores while Beyonce will have her scent in department stores. If youre like me and on a budget, a name wont make the difference. Its the price. How much are you willing pay to be Abercrombie or Sasha Fierce? Thats the question.
3. Robbery Victim Sues O.J. Simpson for Multiple Heart Trouble
Even in jail, it seems that O.J. Simpson cannot escape the long arm of those who want a piece of him.
According to TMZ, Simpsons failed robbery attempt from years ago to get his personal possessions back has come back to bite him as guy named Bruce Fromong has filed a personal injury lawsuit against the former football great.
As one of the people Simpson held at gunpoint during the robbery attempt, Fromong claims that OJ is responsible for the multiple heart attacks he suffered as a result of the robbery. In addition the memorabilia dealer claims that he also suffered great bodily injury” from the incident. As for what the bodily injury was, Fromongs lawyer told TMZ that it was several heart attacks. Fromong caught O.J.s attention by having some of his stuff in a Las Vegas hotel room.
And the rest, they say, was history. Fromong is suing Simpson for infliction of emotional distress, negligence, in addition to assault and battery and unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
So how will O.J. pay this guy if he wins in court? From what TMZ says, it looks like Fromong is putting his hopes on Simpsons homeowners policy to give him what he feels he is owed.
With all the legal issues O.J. has it may be a while before he sees a cent. And thats if he wins. Ive heard of people saying you almost gave me a heart attack or you scarred the sh*t out of me. But never anyone saying, You gave me multiple heart attacks. Who is this guy kidding? If hes that concerned about his health, maybe he can run around the yard with O.J. to get in shape.
Thats O.J. for ya. Always one to keep his name out there. Even if he is too incarcerated to give a damn. Good luck Mr. Fromong.
4. FCC Revisits Janet Jackson Wardrobe Malfunction
Call it Nipplegate II.
Media sources report that Janet Jacksons infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction is being re-examined by the Federal Communications Commission.
The FCC is looking at the case again in light of a Supreme Court decision made last year that upheld a indecency citation against Fox Television Stations Inc. that was made during the Bush administration for airing utterances of the F-word during a live music awards show. The blink and you missed it showing of Jacksons breast during her 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance with Justin Timberlake ended with a $550,000 fine the FCC gave to CBS Television for violating what he said was indecency standards.
In May, the Supreme Court sent the case back to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit for further review. The lower court previously had overturned the FCC fine.
In its filing on Tuesday, the FCC asked the court for permission to examine whether CBS was reckless by not using video delay technology. The technology is not unfamiliar to the network since used a video delay for the 2004 Grammy Awards, which seven days after the Super Bowl.
“The evidence in this case strongly suggests that CBS had access to video delay technology at the time of the 2004 Super Bowl,” the FCC stated in its court document.
Im sure this is what Janet needs after all the stuff going since her brother Michaels death in June. From the looks of it, its seems like the FCC is searching for a reason to check out the malfunction again. Makes you wonder. How many times they actually have to look at that footage of Janets nipple. Enquiring minds want to know.

Life after A Different Word is a bit different for Jasmine Guy, who has become the latest celebrity to encounter financial problems. Newly filed documents from L.A. Superior Court reveal that Guy, who played Whitely Gilbert on the 80s sitcom, was granted a divorce from her husband Terrence Mitchell Duckett. Simple enough, but the catch is that the actress had to file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy because of their mounting debt.
Court papers show that Guy owes $123,503.64 plus interest in back taxes and penalties, while Ducketts debt amounts to $94,354.71 plus, you guessed it, interest. The good news for Jasmine is that relief is on the way, courtesy of a new role she snagged on the new CW show, The Vampire Diaries.

Perhaps divine providence brought JW to Hip-Hop. If he is recording in the booth or if he is delivering his message live on stage, J Dubs lyrics carry his testimony. The sheer depth and pure authenticity of his lyrical psalms resound with his Hip-Hop congregation. Building on his respect for the music, Dub has earned the respect industry pace-makers like Jazzy Pha, Todd Cutter and Jae Millz. They were among the fist people to recognize and challenge JW to embrace his then, dormant lyrical ability. The Broward County native is thriving in his new Georgia home. JWs raw talent is complementing the other artists on Young Jeezys CTE label. Baik At It, the initial single from his debut album Fully Focused, is constantly spinning throughout the South. Only time will tell if JW will be back at it for years to come.
AllHipHop.com: On June 20th you got put on in a very public way. Young Jeezy gave you your CTE medallion and chain during Atlantas Hot 107.9s B-Day Bash. How would you describe that experience?
JW: That was a great experience; big up to the whole CTE fam. You know that n***a Young thats my dude, that was big. That was love. JW Gets His CTE Chain From Jeezy

JW: Im me. Im not knocking anybody. Big shout out to everybody from the labelwere all blessed in our own ways. Theres nobody in this world like me; aint nobody like J Dub. I know Im blessed. Im here to enlighten these people, to motivate to encourage them and to let them know that this aint just any type of music; I deal with life. Id just like to share my story; because, I know that my story is like millions of other peoples stories in the world. I just try to motivate, man, and keep it real
AllHipHop.com: Lets get on Baik At It. That beat by M-16 is stupid, wow.
JW: Thats a hot beat and I just kept it real on the track. So, you cant get nothing but something good on the track. As long as the people enjoy the music we will continue to make that good music. Shout out to my boy M-16 [and] shot out to Jagged Edge; they showed me a lot of loveTwin and nem. I got a song called You Already Know, produced by M-16 [and] Im So Arrogant. Theres other hot tracks right now, down in Miami, shout out to DJ Nasty down in Dade [county and] DJ Khaled; theyre going in. M-16, hes doing his thing; hes very talented. He did Duffle Bag Boy, too.
JW’S “Get IT From The Muscle” Mixtape
AllHipHop.com: It seems the public is experiencing a love/hate relationship with Hip-Hop. We love its essence but hate the commercialization; how would you describe your relationship with music?
JW: Man, Im in love with music. Im married to music; its something that I appreciate. I appreciate the culture [and] I appreciate the art. I know that yall probably hear this so often; but, Im not a rapper. I say that; because, I literally only been doing this for about a year and a half. I know that God done brought me so far and so fast, in a year and a half I dont want to speak too fast but I got a major, major label looking at me with a great deal looking ahead of. So, Im praying on that there. I dont want to disrespect n***as that have been doing this s*** for 10-15 years and havent accumulated as much success or potential that Ive got in so little time. You know what Im saying?
AllHipHop.com: According to JW is there a distinction between Rap and Hip-Hop?
JW: As far as Hip-Hop, I know that Hip-Hop is a culture and with RapI feel that either youre going to be an artist that respects the culture or youre just going to be somebody that respects the art. You got n***as out there that havent been through half the s*** [that] they talk about; but, the s*** sound good. They [are] rappers, you feel me. Unfortunately, Im not that type of person. What you hear in my music is real life. If it aint me [then] its my n****s or its my family; its real life. The s*** that Ive done dealt with [shaped] the way that I see life. My lyrics reflect life through my eyes. Rap or Hip-Hopit is what it isIm just here to make my mark in it
AllHipHop.com: I want to discuss your identity as a man and your image as an MC. How do you plan to prove to the public that youre not an empty gimmick?
JW: By just being me; I aint got nothing to prove to nobody. Im me; Im okay. Im making music that expresses me and the people that I representwhich is who ever is motivated to make something more for they lifewhether theyre still in the streets or if they have a job or a career. I want to motivate and empower them. I talk about God in my music. I talk about college in my music. I talk about football and I talk about hustling; because, this is my life. So, I aint trying to prove nothing to nobody. Im just being me [and] either youre going to like it or you aint, you feel me. I want the majority to like it because its honest and its the truth
AllHipHop.com: Well check you out. [laughs] I respect your confidence.
JW: I aint in no competition with nobody. Im just expressing my life. Big shout out to DJ Khaled. You know, Nobbs, Rick Ross, Young these people that [Im] meeting in the music world, they are respecting it. They get the authenticity from me, they get the realness from me; I dont have to try to be nobody else, all I got to do is be me. Im that n****. Im great. Im magnificent. Im blessed; Im highly favored. Why would I have to try to prove something to somebody?
AllHipHop.com: I think I might like you.
JW: Im just keeping it real; thats something that the game is missing. When I speak I aint trying to be arrogant; but, my voice is very powerful; its been that way since Ive been young. I feel that God has given me a platform to just be able to talk and give expression to more people. Some people say, Damn, Dub, you know, you talk about God on this hereI can feel thatyou talk about the streets [and] I can feel that. Yeah [thats] because; its real. I aint trying to prove nothing to nobodyI aint got to prove nothing to Younghe can be the biggest D boy in the worldthat aint my life. I did it; so, I talk about a little bit of it.
I earned my degree so I talk about that, too. I played football; I talk about that, too. Theres a million n****s out there that wish they would have made it to the NFLthey are in the streets right nowwishing that they would have kept playing ball. I just try to motivate and tell my story and tell my life and motivate people. I think thats why Im here for. I think thats why God gave me this gift. I aint just doing this s*** Im grateful for where Im at right now.
AllHipHop.com: You earned your degree in Business Management from the University of Illinois; how has this established knowledge assisted you with your time being an artist?
JW: Ive been a businessman [and] I followed up with that in school. Just like many other athletes, theyll probably tell you [that] when they first went to collegeIm from the hood. Im from Ft. Lauderdale, Broward CountyIm from the heart of it. Every n**** from the hood, you can go to Ft. Lauderdale, they will tell you Im from the hood. I caught a delivery charge back in 99; them n****s be talking that s***. I did that s*** when I was 18 years old, Im talking about out here really hustling, they can check the record for that. I aint bragging. [chuckles]
[When] I went off to the college, it was more like the hood really wanted to see me make it the league; they really wanted me to make it. So, its like every other athlete thats in the world; they really aint focued too much on a degree, they thinking they gonna make it to the NFL. I got into the business thing because I always knew I was a businessman; thats one of my advantages. I think thats helped to get me to where I am, too, and by the grace of God. I handle everything as a business I aint never worked no 9-5; it just helped me to be able to deal with a lot of different types of people. I think that the business part is something that Im really on. I know if my business is right Im going to be straight.
AllHipHop.com: Get It From The Muscle, your 2008 award-winning mixtape earned you respect from the streets. Now that youre working on your debut album, Fully Focused, how do you plan to maintain your core audience as you transition to the mainstream?

Im going to give you something authentic; its going to be real. To all my ladies, yall are starting to help a n***as buzz. All the real n***as out there yall are feeling me; I appreciate yall.
