Tricky Stewart Inks Def Jam Label Deal

Renowned artist and producer Christopher “Tricky” Stewart will step into the CEO chair courtesy of a new Def Jam deal to jumpstart his very own record label.

Tricky will oversee RedZone Records, which he originally founded in 1995 with brother Mark and mentor LA Reid.

Now with strong major label backing, the songwriter hopes to broaden the artist cultivation he’s done for years in the studio.

“I’ve always wanted the opportunity to expand my involvement with many of the talented artists I’ve worked with through the years,” Stewart explained to AllHipHop.com. “Previously, I’d work with new artists in the studio, and then once the record was completed, help shop them to a major label through my production company. This new venture enables the record to be released on RedZone and my team to develop it every step of the way. It’s the ultimate arrangement, providing the opportunity to empower the artists and putting their music into homes across the globe.”

The Def Jam deal is the culmination of Stewart’s recent string of chart-topping, Grammy nominated hits.

The versatile producer has lent his talents to artists such as Rihanna (“Umbrella”), Mariah Carey (“Touch My Body”), Mary J. Blige (“Just Fine”), Beyonce (“Single Ladies), The Dream (Love/Hate), and Jamie Foxx (Intuition).

This year, Tricky took home a Grammy for his work on Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains LP, and honors as one of the 2009 Songwriters of the Year from the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

At press time, Stewart is finalizing plans for the debut of RedZone artist Bryan J’s lead single, “Like I’m Obama.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Was It A Stunt? Slim Thug & His Lotions! The Twitter Follies!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I am happy to see Kanye West get up on the Jay Leno show and let himself open up. BUT…

WAS IT ALL JUST A BIG PRESS STUNT?

Now, we see Kanye West looking all-sympathetic after being a monster. Jay Leno gets him to almost cry at the mere mention of his mother and a huge ratings boost. AND, Taylor Swift is redeemed. Sales go up. Beyonce looks like a saint, mo’ money! Now, here is what somebody emailed me. I didn’t edit this at all.

My now ex-boyfriend is a producer over at MTV and he told me that they were going to create another spoof for this next award show. Movie awards was Eminem and Bruno, this time…Kanye and Taylor Swift.

Let’s dissect the VMA:

1. Kanye did this at the beginning of the show during the first award nomination. MTV planned this to keep us glued to their network.

2. Right after the incident Rhapsody aired a commercial stating,”we listen to jay z, we listen to Pink but right now is Taylor’s moment.”

3. There are 3 winners at the VMA…Beyonce, T.Swift and Kanye.

Kanye is gaining so much publicity(bad publicity is good publicity) from this stunt. His fans doesn’t care if he dissed a country singer, they will still buy his next album.

4. Beyonce saves the day and dedicates her award to the young singer. You think B really cares about a VMA at this point in her career…NO.

5.Taylors album sales will get a significant boost because people feel sorry for her.

6.If MTV really was embarrassed by the stunt, they would not have re-aired it on the rerun episode of the awards or posted it on their website.

I feel that this information is necessary because we can’t allow the media to blind us and think we are stupid. And the sad thing is they are using our talented Hip Hop artists to do the dirty work. Corporations such as Viacom(own MTV, BET,VH1,Comedy Central-Dave Chapelle show) are exploiting our people and our music. Its sad that Kanye cosigned to do this spoof and he should apologize to Hip Hop not just Taylor. All MTV cares about is “Advertisment Dollars.”

PRESS STUNT OR NO, TAYLOR SWIFT’S MOM CUSSED HIM OUT!

LOL! They are saying that Taylor Swift’s mother requested a meeting with Kanye West so she could cuss him out. LOL! Kanye sort of confirmed this, but didn’t say she tore him up verbally. People magazine reported that Kanye somehow made things worse until he appeared on Leno tonight and then also issued a more formal apology today.

“I feel like Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave. That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.”

That’s that, I guess. They also say that Matthew Knowles is actually the person that commandeered that Beyonce give up her momemnt later in the show so Swifty could get her moment in.DID JAY AND BEYONCE HAVE A GREAT FIGHT OVER KANYE?Not sure how real or true this is,  but I am going to say it anyway. MediaTakeOut has reported that Kanye’s bumrush of Taylor Swift resulted in a huge fight between Jay and Beyonce. Now, an unnamed insider said that MTV wanted Kanye to come back  up there and say sorry in front of everybody in the room. Kanye refused to do that and opted to leave instead. Jay didn’t like the way MTV did his homey ‘Ye and then when Beyonce later got on the stage and rocked with Swifty, Jay saw it as siding with the other side. Jay ended up hanging out with Rihanna after dismissing B for the rest of the evening. I don’t know if this is true, but I do know that RiRi and Jay were photographed hanging out. RiRi didn’t go to the awards so perhaps this is true? I don’t know…its all speculation.

KANYE ABOUT TO CRY …OR WAS HE ACTING?

WAS THE OCCULT IN THE HOUSE?

Some folks are crying foul suggesting that there were a lot of subliminal messages being tossed out there in at the awards. There were all sorts of lil signs being thrown out there. Then there was Lady GaGa’s crazy ass get ups and messages. Then there was Jack Black’s nutso devil worship session that people actually started to PRAY TO THE DEVIL! What the HELL!? No pun intended, but that was a bit much. There were other lil’ things, but I would rather not say.

JACKI O AND BRISCO MAKE UP!?

You know a man hitting a woman is not cool! Well, when Brisco hit Jacki O out in Cali on the set of a Lil Wayne video, all hell broke loose. And, Jacki seemed personally hurt that he would do such a thing. Well it seems like the two have made up and let bygones be bygones. Apparently, Jacki has a new song called “MIA” and Brisky is all up on the song. You know, she is not Rihanna and he is not Breezy….just make it happen.

MAIA CAMPBELL’S “PIMP” SPEAKS?

I swear, they should have never gave you people…that’s right YOU PEOPLE internet! Take it how you want to take it! Anyway, here is the latest degradation of society to befall us. The alleged PIMP of former actress Maia Campbell has hit the internet. I woul think he would get under a rock. Instead he takes to the net. After a while, I realize that this video is old so I am not going to put it up. Plus, the pimp said he is not a pimp and also said that he didn’t know he was talking to Maia Campbell. SMH. I’m finished.

THE TWITTER FOLLIES!

Slim Thug is more entertaining that a Black circus. Check out his twitters and see why he needs to put the damn lotion down and log off!!

I am not sure if Dizzie Rascal said this on Twitter, but I am gonna pretend he did. I KNOW he wouldn’t say it aloud.

“I’m going to be big like Michael Jackson.”

Will.I.Am was not happy that the Black Eyed Peas didn’t win anything even though they shattered sales records with their new album. On Twitter, he said the following:

“How is it that we’ve been #1 for 23 weeks and BEP gets no nominations. What is the MTV awards if the don’t “play” videos or recognize sizzle?”

A reporter for ABC news with more than 1 million Twitter followers decided to say the following in an “off the record” part of an interview with Obama:

“Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a “jackass” for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential.” Read the full story HERE.

Is this Joe Budden’s ex or some fake? What’s her issue with Tequila…that girl…read up.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Word on the street is former Roc-a-fella affiliate Geda K is in talks with 50 Cent about possibly joining G-Unit as a solo artist.

50 Cent recently, according to rumor, that he WISHES Kanye had the nerve to run up on him like he did Taylor Swift. He said he would be swift to punch him in the eye.

Rumor has it that Michael Jackson’s son Blanket cries himself to sleep every night, grieving over his daddy.

Donald Trump has reportedly called for a boycott of everything that Kanye West does! Joe Jackson also called for such actions of Ye.

Illseed has started the boycott of Lil Mama, because she has to be very left out…lol…just kidding…

Whitney Houston has formally lied, I mean, denied to Oprah that she ever hit the pipe.

Internal investigations are close to levying charges against a pair of female officiers that sold the picture of Rihanna’s beat up face to TMZ.

EPIC WIN OF THE DAY

I have to call it how I see it. Rodney King has finally gotten his revenge back. The poster man for police brutality was involved in a boxing match last Friday, where he was in a boxing match fighting a cop. Well, he beat that cops tail in the ring! Ol’ Rodney won the match by unanimous decision over former Pennsylvania police officer Simon Aouad. It all when down as the Philadelphia Airport Ramada on Friday. He won $5,000. He should join with Coolio and do the “King and Coolio Revue.” Then they can get a cool 8 STACKS and chicken. Nevertheless, Rodney finally got to beat down a cop and not get beat down.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

I saw this at the show and just died laughing. Check out this fail. I know MJ got a lil’ chuckle in heaven.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

Is Lil Romeo getting air-brushed tats? Lets hope not. Rappers should get real tats that they regret later in life. Good to see P keeping his boy straight in this world. Forget rapping, go to school.

KERI HILSON OUT AND ABOUT

Ciara too…fashion week brings the best out in the ladies.

Feel free to hit me up on Twitter (my addiction) @ChanceCDR or e-mail [email protected]

if you have any comments, wanna shoot me your music (I like dope music)

or just wanna chat.  Now that that’s out of the way on to the good

stuff!!!!

BROS BEFORE HOESI thought the whole Kanye thing was a joke at first until the awkward moment after and the look of bewilderment on Miss. Swifts face.  Well the MTV execs were not playing around and they demanded Kanye apologize, when he refused he was escorted from the building.  Here’s where it gets interesting.  Apparently Jigga wasn’t feeling the way MTV treated his little brother and was very upset with the network.  Fast forward Beyonce, a class act, brings Taylor out to finish her speech.  Rumor has it Jay was not happy Bey publicly sided with MTV and even left Radio City Music Hall without his significant other; he opted to spend the rest of the night partying with RiRi.

Remember the good times:

RIHANNA TIMBERLAKE????I’m

hearing that Rihanna was scheduled to perform at the VMA’s but her

segment got cut at the last minute.  Since she wasn’t nominated for

anything Ri Ri decided to skip the awards … but as usual when it was

time to party she was ready.  She arrived at Jay-Z’s after party at the

40/40 Club a little after midnight accompanied by Hov (without Mrs.

Carter) and her Rehab co-star Justin Timberlake.  Justin and Rihanna

were spotted getting pretty hot and heavy in a hallway at the club.

However, it doesn’t look like there was a night-cap since they left in separate vehicles and Justin was later spotted partying with Diddy.

COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEFI

must admit I’m not a big Raekwon fan I was a little too young to f**k

with the Wu when they were in full force and I wasn’t super excited

about OB4CL2.  However, I did BUY a copy (it’s 10 bucks people) and

this album is DOPE!!!!!  A little too much for me but still dope.

Anyway I’m hoping when the numbers come out tomorrow Raekwon does his

thing but in the meantime here’s a little info you may not know.

About a month or so back my CDR family and I went to Noisemakers

with Raekwon hosted by Peter Rosenberg (Shouts to Mic Sean).  I didn’t get to see the whole interview since we left out early

to hit S.O.B’s but I did learn some interesting stuff:

-When Wu Tang signed their first deal with Loud Records they

received a $60,000 advance … after taxes, lawyers, managers, and

splitting the money  they each went home with about $500 for the 36

Chambers album…SMH that would have covered my weed habit for about 2

weeks

– Rae said the group always considered Method Man to be the “Michael

Jackson” of the Wu  … Guess they were right since Meth would become the

first to break out on his own when he signed to Def Jam

Q-Tip, who was shouting from the VIP, recalled how hard he tried to get

Rae under the Universal umbrella when it was time for him to go solo …

but Rae ultimately signed with Steve Rifkind

– After running out of condoms in Hawaii Old Dirty Bastard strapped up the only way fitting for someone with a name like  … using Saran Wrap … I thought he liked it raw???

I’M JUST SAYIN’

Lil

Mama knew she was dead wrong for that … Right after the VMA’s fiasco

Mickey Factz hit her with an “LOL” text and she replied “He’s gonna

kill me”.

My homey overheard O.G. Juan, Jay-Z’s friend and business partner,

cracking up over the fiasco and saying some of Jay’s security team was

gonna get the boot.

Joe

Jackson is doing his thing … showed up to the VMA’s with a grade-A

redbone … and I hear he walked into the 40/40 with one on each arm.

Did you peep Kanye and Jay performing “Good Life” at MSG feat none other than

… well you know … Who was hoping he came out???  Just me???  Oh yea

and didnt Mary [yonkers baby] perform her single The One … doesnt she use auto-tune on that???

This year has been crazy we lost a lot of icons … RIP Patrick Swayze

Peace

Kanye West Vows To Take Time Off

Rapper Kanye West vowed to remove himself from the limelight of fame in an exclusive interview with Jay Leno last night.West offered what appeared to be a sincere, nearly tearful explanation of the events that resulted in him interrupting an acceptance speech by singer Taylor Swift. In the unplanned interview, Leno asked West about how his mother, the late Dr. Donda West, would feel at his actions. West then revealed that he had never taken time to grieve and would eventually take time to reflect and collect himself. West said: “You know, obviously, you know, I deal with hurt. And, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off. I’ve never taken the time off to really — you know, just music after music and tour after tour,” he said. “I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be, ’cause — and I don’t try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That’s period. But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve. Because I am a celebrity, and that’s something I have to deal with. And if there’s anything I could do to help Taylor in the future or help anyone, I’d like — you know, I want to live this thing. It’s hard sometimes…”The moment was captured on Jay Leno’s prime-time debut Monday, a debut that also saw a performance by Jay-Z, West and Rihanna.West said that he didn’t realize exactly how rude he had behaved until he gave the mic back  to Swift and she didn’t continue her speech. He was showered with boos from the crowd even after he left the venue.West felt Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” should have won for best female video award, not Swift’s “You Belong With Me.”Kanye said that he hoped to one day apologize to Swift face to face. He was not booed on the show.Below is a video of the interview in full:

President Obama Calls Kanye West A ‘Jackass’

Rapper Kanye West’s behavior at the 2009 VMA Awards helped him earn criticism from the most powerful man on earth, United States President, Barack Obama.

President Obama was being interviewed for CNBC earlier today when he labeled West a “jackass” for crashing the stage as country singer Taylor Swift was receiving an award for Best Female Video.

President Obama made the “jackass” comment about West during an off the record portion of an interview.

“Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a ‘jackass’ for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential,” ABC’s Terry Moran Tweeted before deleting the comment.

ABC issued a statement apologizing for Moran’s Tweet.

“ABC In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview,” ABC said in a statement. “This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”

The Presidential backlash comes after an allegedly drunk Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for winning Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me,” which topped Beyonce’s#### song “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It.)”

Actor Patrick Swayze Dead At 57; Influenced Hip-Hop

Patrick Swayze has died from complications due to advanced pancreatic cancer at the age of 57.

According to his publicist Annett Wolf, the actor died at home with his family by his side. Swayze fought his cancer for 20 months, after being diagnosed with the terminal illness in January of 2008.

Swayze courageously continued to work on his final television series “The Beast,” which he filmed while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

The actor, who starred in movies such as The Outsiders, Red Dawn and Road House, is also a part of Hip-Hop history.

His last name has become synonymous with “leaving” or to “disappear” [IE: “I am Swayze”], in Hip-Hop slang, coined after his starring role in the movie “Ghost.”

After landing a #1 single with his track “She’s Like the Wind” from the hit soundtrack Dirty Dancing, Swayze wanted to return to recording music and was experimenting with “rap rhythms as an emotional undercurrent for ballads.”

Additionally, Swayze made a cameo appearance as an FBI agent in a video for Ja Rule’s single “Murder Reigns” from Ja Rule’s The Last Temptation album.

Breeding Ground Spotlight: Ultimate

Currently promoting his new single, “Take Me There,” with a video already shot for it, Reggae artist, Ultimate, took a moment to speak with DigiWaxx Media. Take a second and learn a thing or two about the Jamaica born, artist making that “feel good” music; “It has people dancing, feeling happy and is spreading rapidly worldwide”.

DigiWaxx: Where are you from originally? Tell the readers a little about yourself.

Ultimate:     I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. I moved into the states at an early age where I attended Syracuse University. From Syracuse I moved to Miami, Texas and currently California, playing professional sports in all three States.

DigiWaxx:  Nice! So, I was checking out your video for your single, “Take Me There”, and could not help but notice the amazing quality and professionalism within it, is this your first project?

Ultimate:     You can say that it is technically my first project. I’ve been making music for quite some time now; since 9th grade to be exact. I didn’t start recording in the studio until 2001, however. The video is real and the people we work with are very professional.

DigiWaxx:  So are you currently working under your own label?

Ultimate:     Yes, I do. I am working under my own label, Ultimate Domination Records.

DigiWaxx:  Do you have any other artists on the label at the moment?

Ultimate:     At this time, it is just me, Ultimate. We are getting it off of the ground and hope to sign new artists to the label in the future.

DigiWaxx:  What is the title of your album?

Ultimate:     There is no set title at the moment; there is no album set. I will be releasing an EP in a few months entitled, “Ultimate”. It will contain six songs to give a feel of what Ultimate has to offer.

DigiWaxx:  What is your goal? Are you hoping to be mainstream or what?

Ultimate:     Yes, we want to go main-stream and appeal to the masses and all demo graphs. We want them to enjoy the song. I want places like Germany and Europe dancing to my music. The Caribbean and Reggae vibe of my music is for all with worldly beats. Going mainstream is an understatement, we want to go global. I want to be on the Bob Marley level with the same fan base.

DigiWaxx:  Do you plan to hit overseas and the States?

Ultimate:     “Take You There” is already playing in Jamaica. The video is also playing in Houston’s local video program, Street Flava as well as Miami’s local stations. We plan to hit BET and MTV soon! Check it out

DigiWaxx:  How is your online presence? Your website is amazing, by the way.

Ultimate:     It’s coming along. I’m on all of the social networking sites such as myspace (myspace.com/ultimateucx), facebook, twitter (twitter.com/ultimateucx) and youtube (youtube.com/ultimatedomination). The song is on iTunes right now, available for purchase.  We are getting a good response; Rome wasn’t built in one day.

DigiWaxx:  How is it trying to separate you playing professional sports and being an artist?

Ultimate:     I don’t want to be labeled. I’m not trying to do something just to be doing it, I have a talent and want to have fun with it. I’ve been making music before playing professional sports and I put my heart into it. In Miami the locals knew me as an artist and not an athlete.

DigiWaxx: Is it an insult to you if they know you as an artist verse an athlete?

Ultimate:     Honestly, it doesn’t matter how I am recognized – a fan is a fan. The music side of the fans will become fans of me playing sports. Anyone who watches me play, knows that I put on a show and on stage I have the same energy.

Digiwaxx: That’s what’s up! So who are you working with on your album? Are there any features on the EP?

Ultimate: I am working with Blackout, he is most known for the Mims, “This Is Why I’m Hot” Remix. The EP has features with Calieb, Kevin Little, Dred Prez, Supa Neil of Houston and Mr. Vegas.

Digiwaxx: I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me; I know you’re such a busy man, (laughing). Do you have any final words for the readers out there?

Ultimate:     People need to go out and get the EP when it drops. Subcribe to my youtube channel and befriend me on facebook, myspace and twitter! Also, be sure to purchase, “Take You There” on iTunes. Thank You.

Lil’ Boosie: Return of The Bad Azz

Torrence Hatch hopes to master the comeback. Better know to his fans as Lil’ Boosie, Hatch has declared his return and expects to move from an underground King to a gold-selling artist. With a new flower planted in his head, Boosie plans to combine his matured lyricism with ingredients of the industry- all mixed together with Baton Rouge thug life. Super Bad: Return of Boosie Bad Azz, his new album, will meld all of the ingredients into one big bowl of musical gumbo.

In this piece, Lil’ Boosie moves forward with his album and Bad Azz Entertainment, but also recollects the fans, working with Young Jeezy, and the ultimate UGK Pimp C.

AllHipHop.com: So I see you had another run in with the police, I guess your “bad ass” is really bad huh? (Laughs)

Lil’ Boosie: Naw they be messing with me. I had a couple altercations.

AllHipHop.com: In this incident I believe they got you with a marijuana and gun charge. The police even claim that you tried to bribe them by saying “This is Boosie, how much do you want”. Is that true?

Lil’ Boosie: Naw that was a lie, they [the police] just made all these statements. It was for rumor of the day. I don’t know where all these statements came from. I had a couple altercations that went down but they’re really trying to take me down. They made all kinds of false statements saying I said all kinds of stuff like “How much ya’ll want” and “I’m going to tell the judge this”. They got me all messed up.

AllHipHop.com: Other than that, what have you been up to because you disappeared for a few years? I haven’t heard you since Trill Entertainment’s Survival Of The Fittest.

Lil’ Boosie: I still been making music, I still been putting out mixtapes. Every mixtape I’ve been putting out been like a damn album because I feel like the label wasted money on other people to sell records.

AllHipHop.com: You started rapping at 14, correct?

Lil’ Boosie: I started rapping on songs at 14; I started rapping when I was like seven.

AllHipHop.com: When you were young and rapping, did you ever get teased about your high pitched rap voice?

Lil’ Boosie: I done heard it all so it doesn’t bother me anymore. I have something to show for what I’m doing so it doesn’t really get to me anymore like it used to.

AllHipHop.com: Who were some people that you listed as your inspirations when you started rapping at this young age? Who were you listening to at that time?

Lil’ Boosie: I was listening to Tupac, the Geto Boys, 8 Ball, No Limit- of course, Cash Money… people like that.

“I like money. I like gambling, I

like taking care of my kids, I like ping-pong, I like shooting pool, I

like having three-somes…– Lil’ Boosie

AllHipHop.com: Tell me about life in Baton Rouge because we’ve heard No Limit, we’ve heard Cash Money, but we never heard a sound like you coming out of Baton Rouge.

Lil’ Boosie: There ain’t nothing like Baton Rouge. We got our own style, we’re trendsetters down there you know. A lot of people look over it because of New Orleans but Baton Rouge is like a city life you know- it’s retarded down there. It’s dangerous, gangsta, we got the illest shoes and we got shuttles so we got women everywhere.

AllHipHop.com: How did you hook up with Trill Entertainment?

Lil’ Boosie: I hooked up with them in like 2001. I got a phone call from Pimp C and we just started making music.

AllHipHop.com: Is the line-up for Trill Entertainment still the same?

Lil’ Boosie: I think so, I think everybody’s still over there. I really be doing my own thing. I be working in my house- my in home studio. I haven’t worked over there in so long; I don’t know who’s still making music. I’m just staying focused because I’m making music every night.

AllHipHop.com: You have an in home studio?

Lil’ Boosie: Yeah

AllHipHop.com: Do you have any artists come over and work with you?

Lil’ Boosie: Yeah, I and Hurricane [Chris] did our whole mixtape at my house. I even had Mike Epps at my house on the microphone man. So a lot of people done been over there- Yo Gotti… a lot of people man. It’s a nice in house studio. We got that killer production so everybody wants that good sound.

“I want to work with Kanye [West]. I wish I could have got Kanye

on the album. Even Diddy… so people can see my Kanye side and see how

lyrical I can get.”-Lil Boosie

AllHipHop.com: Before you made your official debut with your album Bad Azz, you still had coast to coast hood buzz without radio play nor promotion. How did you make that happen?

Lil’ Boosie: I just kept dropping mixtapes, kept getting featured on people’s songs. People feel my music; I have that real life music so if you’re from the hood or where I’m from then you have to feel it. Before I even had a national song I had a big fan base, they were just waiting for me to cross over to this national market. I already had the hoods and the streets telling the venues “I’m the one”, so that’s why my first album did what it did because I already had a fan base.

AllHipHop.com: How long did it take for you to build up this fan base?

Lil’ Boosie: After my first album came out, I had over 5,000, 10,000 fans the first time they heard me. I jumped off quick, it wasn’t like I just did a couple songs and people were on it. I jumped off quick; I was getting shows the next month.

AllHipHop.com: Till this day, down south clubs still have “Boosie sets” where they’ll play songs off the Bad Azz album and even the Bad Ass mixtape- kind of how the Jay-Z classics are played in the club. What do you think it is about you’re music- from the style to the way you deliver that keeps your music effective?

Lil’ Boosie: Everything just makes me a perfect 10. The way I look, what I’m talking about, how I’m rocking the stage… I do concerts. I can do a capella every song and people are going to know every song. It’s just that people feel that music and once I get you to be my fan, you can’t tell my fans anything about me- they’re very personal. I be seeing fans everywhere with my name tattooed all on their private parts, with my face all on their chest, my haircut on their ass… all kinds of sh*t. I got them nymphos- Boosie nymphos.

AllHipHop.com: One of classics that never gets old is “Swerve Pt. 2” featuring Webbie and Pimp C. How was it like working with the late Pimp C?

Lil’ Boosie: It was basically normal because I had been around him for a minute then. So it was basically normal like we always do.

AllHipHop.com: I know you were used to working and being around Pimp C, but when you did this track you were still underground. So was it exciting actually recording a track with him at this moment?

Lil’ Boosie: You know first when I went over it was like a dream, but after the second day it was just regular man, it was just real n***a to real n***a. That was basically it. I meant them [Bun B & Pimp C] when I was seventeen. I was a man- I was a full grown man in my own apartment. I was a man when I met them already so they realized that and they took me in, and when I called them for music, they put it down.

AllHipHop.com: Your single out right now is “Better Believe It” featuring Young Jeezy. What are some things about you that people “better believe”? What are some interesting facts that people probably wouldn’t know about you?

Lil’ Boosie: I like eating- I like good soul food. Of course I like money- you better believe I’m getting money. I like gambling, I like taking care of my kids, I like ping-pong, I like shooting pool, I like having three-somes…

Lil Boosie: “I’m A Dog”

AllHipHop.com: Young Jeezy’s name comes up a lot when it comes to an artist that other artist would like to collaborate with. How was it like working with him?

Lil’ Boosie: You know he put me on The Recession so you know I had to put him on my single you know- favor for a favor you know… that’s my homie. He wanted to work with me and hell yeah I wanted to work with him so our people got together and you know we’re two of the realest in the game and you know we got that same fan base. We rap about what we done did in our lives and that doesn’t change for nothing. [Young] Jeezy and I are hard hittas. It was just over due man, we was suppose to been hook up years ago and now it’s just official. You might catch anything from us.

AllHipHop.com: I heard that you actually would like to do a mixtape with Young Jeezy. How can you say the mixtape would come out and what would it consist of?

Lil’ Boosie: It would consist of that street music; we’ll get versatile with it, women music… that real street music. I feel like if [Young] Jeezy and I do an album, it better do five times platinum. That will be all the street s###- you can’t run or hide from it.

AllHipHop.com: You have Super Bad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz ready to be released September 15th. Is the project already finished and ready to go?

Lil’ Boosie: Yeah it’s ready to go. I wanted to double-disc, but we couldn’t come to an agreement but the album’s fire and you can listen to every song on the album. I have a couple producers on the album- Mouse on the Track, Guss, B Real, Big Wayne, BJ, Maniac and Nard & B…. we got a track from The Runners, Trina on the record, Bobby V on the record, Lil’ Phat, Foxx and Webbie on the record also.

AllHipHop.com: Compared to your first album Bad Azz, you stayed close to home with familiar producers and artist. On this album you seem to be branching out more. What direction are you going with this album as far as features and production?

Lil’ Boosie: As far as features, the first time on my album I had something to prove so I didn’t want anybody on my album. I just got smarter with the game, putting more people on songs and getting their fan bases also. So now my rhymes are just better, I ain’t got the same sound on every one of them either. I just expanded my hustle and there ain’t no where to go from there; Trying to see if I’m gon’ win or not.

AllHipHop.com: Is there anybody that you would like to work with but didn’t get the chance to make it happen?

Lil’ Boosie: I want to work with Kanye [West]. I wish I could have got Kanye on the album. Even Diddy… so people can see my Kanye side and see how lyrical I can get. Besides Kanye, I would have like that, but you know there are always more albums.

AllHipHop.com: Do you ever set out a format or structure for your albums and if so, how close to they end up being to what you originally planned?

Lil’ Boosie: I make the music in separate studios and we put them together like that. I be having say-so on a lot of songs but I don’t have say-so once I release the songs. So I say I’ll have more say-so once I get my own deal then I can be further notice on that question.

AllHipHop.com: To the fans that are waiting for this album to drop, what can you say they’re in stored for?

Lil’ Boosie: They’re gon’ get a lot of knowledge, girls’ drawls gon’ get wet… it’s just real life music. They gon’ get a lot of tickets and DWIs. A lot of people are going to get caught with a bottle in the club, a lot of people are going to slow down and stop runnin’ those streets. It reaches all levels with this album.

AllHipHop.com: After this album drops, what can you say is next in line for you?

Lil’ Boosie: I have a label deal about to jump off.

AllHipHop.com: A label deal? What’s that looking like? Is there a name set for it yet?

Lil’ Boosie: Bad Azz Entertainment. You know it’s my own label and I own it 100 percent. I got an offer the other day, but we’re going back to talk in a month. So once I get that, I’ll have my own land and I can still drop a couple albums here and there. With that label, I can do what I want. I can drop my artist and just kill the streets- four albums a year. That’s the biggest situation that I’m in right now. AllHipHop.com: You’ve done community work in the past, what’s up and coming in that department?

Lil Boosie – Top Notch (feat. Lil Phat, Lil Trill & Mouse)

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Lil’ Boosie: We give away 10,000 turkeys on Thanksgiving, 80,000 bikes on Christmas- 80,000 dollars worth of bikes each and every year for the Ivy [Community Service] Foundation. So we do it big for the community- that’s why all the old people love me now. Everywhere I go, old people love me and they show me more love than I ever had because I give to the kids. The first three years I did it, I didn’t even get any tax refund, I just did it out my heart.

AllHipHop.com: If you can give advice to anybody coming into their passion- basically just like you, what advice would you give them?

Lil’ Boosie: I would just tell them to stay focused… pray for better days. If you know you have talent then you know you have talent and you have to use it. If you don’t use it, you’ll be 35 years old before you think about rapping. Time isn’t stopping for none of us. So I just say you go on and use your talent. There’s plenty of room in the rap game so if you feel like you can do it then do it.

AllHipHop.com: Any last words for Hip Hop?

Lil’ Boosie: Wake up, don’t die.

Lil Mama Explains Breaking Into Jay-Z Performance

Rapper Lil’ Mama has apologized for jumping on stage at the 2009 Video Music Awards ceremony after she leaped on stage during the finale performance by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

“I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys. I admire them and look up to them as role models,” she said in a statement. “‘Empire State of Mind’ had my emotions running high. In that moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY.”

The move comes after the Brooklyn-based rapper had been under heavy public scrutiny. Critics also opined on the move, citing it as nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Earlier in the night, Kanye West got on stage and interrupted an acceptance speech by Taylor Swift. He was reportedly escorted out of Radio City Music Hall, where the show was taped in New York.

Kanye West and Lil Mama: You Embarrassed Us

Beyonce’s astonished face said it all when Kanye West leaped on stage

and interrupted country singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during

the 2009 Video Music Awards. It has been less than 24 hours, but

collectively we have inundated each other with the mortification we

felt after witnessing such a brazen act of rudeness in front of

millions and millions of people.

I (and every single person I happen to know) was completely

embarrassed as an African American and/or as a member of the global

Hip-Hop community by Kanye and Lil Mama.

What SHE was thinking, I have no idea. Unlike Kanye, she is scarcely a

celebrity and cannot really afford to have tantrums and banishment,

because her star power does not generate enough energy to push her

through corporate beef should somebody decide to stop her career. Not

only did her leap of idiocy on stage with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys ruin a

magic moment for viewers, it made her the laughing stock of the

internet. It’s like people have no wise advisers and no internal check

mechanism.Like Kanye, she did issue an apology.“I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia

Keys. I admire them and look up to them as role

models. ‘Empire State of Mind’ had my emotions running high. In that

moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY.”

People will say what they will, but the worst/best in the public came

out against Lil mama, a rap artist struggling for relevance. One

blogger called her “Jay-Z’s adopted son” who decided to reveal himself

on Sunday night. Rapper Fabolous tweeted continually about her saying,

“#lilmamais the bird that flew outta Lady Gaga’s nest on her face!!”

(As of this writing, Fab was still talking about it on Twitter.) And,

then there were the fans – endless condemnation.

Kanye’s act against the lily White country singer Swift brought out

every racist slime ball to the yard. “What an ignorant n****r. I

swear, what cry over that s**t? Seriously, go back to Africa, dumb

f***ing n****r,” one bigot post. I’m not one to give credence to what

scum thinks, but why fill their tank with more gas?

This is all very simple and I hope ALL artists get it.

They are they going to understand (we are going to make them get it)

that they DO represent for us when they go up on stage, when they

conduct themselves in public. And when they act a gotdamn fool, it

makes us all look idiotic, irrational and as if we have no

self-control!

I know there are many that won’t admit to this, but it is true.

Opportunities for other rappers or urban artists are created and/or

destroyed by the success and failure, intelligence or foolishness of

these top tier acts. The crazy thing is, we HAVE sense and most of us

lust to be in the career position of these two.

Perhaps Kanye took one for the “team” to boost ratings and hype like

his rap counterpart Eminem and his accomplice Bruno both admitted to

doing earlier this year. (I’m sure you haven’t forgotten Bruno’s a**

in Em’s face yet, have you?) That’s not fully out of the question.

Then, there would certainly be far more sinister implications and

question for the VMA organizers.Lil Mama’s big moment and Jay-Z’s face. (Story continued after picture.)

Hopefully, Jay-Z, Kanye’s “Big Brother,” offered some stern words of

wisdom to his homey. And Lil Mama – who is actually a great spitter –

may need to reconnect and re-prioritize her goals in this game. I understand the notion that “all press is good press,” ratings and all that good stuff, but this

isn’t the way.

We’ll leave it at this. Sometimes our biggest and brightest don’t know

how to act and our smaller, talented artists get far too excited about

some stupid press and a lil’ spotlight.

I’m sick of it and I hope you are too.

Another one of the infamous spazz outs by Kanye West.

Kanye interrupts President Obama. LOL!

Rick Ross, Freck Billionaire Team Up to Diss Floyd Mayweather

After getting venom thrown their way by pound for pound elite fighter Floyd Mayweather, Rick Ross and Freck Billionaire are answering the pugilist via the new Triple C’s helmed diss “Go (War Remix).”

Last month, Mayweather derided both artists in an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, framing Ross as a fraud and joking “when I need someone arrested, I’ll call him.”

Regarding Freck Billionaire, Mayweather accused him of being a thief for stealing an expensive watch after defaulting on contract obligations with Mayweather’s Philthy Rich record label.

According to Mayweather, Freck failed to disclose a previous signed contract that resulted in the boxer being sued.

“F**k Floyd Mayweather! You spoke my name,” Ross began. “Forever getting robbed/Bloods took your jewels/Can’t beat the IRS baby boy/Just pay your dues!”

In addition to alluding to his alleged IRS problems, Ross belittles Mayweather regarding his mainstream appeal, and a previous strip club incident where the boxer allegedly threw fake $100 bills into the air.

“Even your name lame/Ain’t no Mayweather Punchout!/Catch him in Florida/I’m a need another lawyer/Why your daddy employer/Go by the name of De La Hoya?!…We standing on the bar/Throwing real money/Holla Mayweather when you see a fake hundred.”

On his end, Freck Billionaire dismissed Mayweather’s allegations as completely baseless.

“I think it’s a bitter cheap shot, totally untrue from an egotistically frustrated person,” Freck told AllHipHop.com. “I’ll respond to Floyd when I see him face to face. I don’t go back and forth on blogs, that’s his style.”

Despite this proclamation, Billionaire does deliver a verse chastising Mayweather’s recent actions.

“Talking greasy because you’re 39-0?/Real life b*tch n*gga 39 and hoe/I’m his toughest opponent yet/I’m nothing like Marquez.”

At press time Floyd Mayweather could not be reach for comment, and is completing a final public workout in preparation for his anticipated September 19 PPV showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez.

M.O.P. Denies Beat Jacking

M.O.P. has responded to rumors and accusations that they stole a beat from an emerging producer from Philadelphia.

Over the weekend, a producer named Kil sent out a mass email accusing M.O.P. member Lil’ Fame, who is also a music producer, of stealing a beat submitted to the group on CD.

“It’s true I didn’t do the beat ‘Rude Bastards’ as Kil said. I heard it, it was hot and I rhymed on it. I’de never steal a beat, that’s not me,” Lil Fame told AllHipHop.com.

Longtime M.O.P. manager Laze Laze said everything is one big misunderstanding and that the group would never knowingly steal another person’s beat.

“I understand the process of credits and turning in a record so I know that this is a clerical error [that] can easily be fixed. But Fame is hurt, being an up-and-coming producer (himself), he knows the struggle of making beats and having to almost give them away to be heard,” Laze told AllHipHop.com. “We feel the pain of the kid in his crib, teaching himself how to use Reason, or his first attempt at an MPC 2000.”

He explained clearly that M.O.P. “would never take a kids track without making every attempt to give him credit.” He also stated that the rumor comes at an odd moment as the group’s new CD is slated for released tomorrow.

“It comes at a time when all of our energy should be focused on more positive things like the release of the new M.O.P. album Foundation,” he continued. “Nevertheless its our responsibility to speak on it.”

Historically, M.O.P. has helped and contributed to the growth of a number of artists, producers and even video directors, Laze said, and the notion of beat-jacking is totally contrary to the legacy of the group.

“In all of our years, we have strived for the underdog, the unheard of producer (DR Period, Mahogany, Jaz-O,, Notts,) the up and coming video director (Hype Williams, Chris Robinson, Brian Luvar, Jessie Terrero). You see all these talented people were brand new, unproven prodigies when they began their respective works with works with the Mashout Posse,” he said. “So it comes as a major surprise that someone would say we stole their beat and that we would address it with such disdain.”

In an email sent to several sites, including AllHipHop.com’s rumor section, Philadelphia-based producer levied his claim against M.O.P. and Lil Fame. Here is the email in full:

“Back in September 2008, MOP, Joe Budden, Termanology and Big Shugg came down to Sonar in B’more and me and my peeps go to the show. I pass out beat cd’s to Term, Joe and during MOP’s show I give it to Laze E Laze’s son (some young n***a) who’s the hype man. Now, fast forward to September 2009 and I’m listening to MOP’s Foundation album on my way home from work and when track #9 “Rude Bastard” comes on….it’s MY F***ING BEAT! Not the same sample, the SAME BEAT! Drum programming, sample, chops…the whole damn beat! Then my man Mills does the knowledge for me to see who got credit for the track on the album and it says “produced by Fizzy Womack”! So…I don’t get a check, I don’t get credit…I don’t even get co production credit! And I’m not looking for no “feel sorry for me” or none of that hoopla…I’m just asking for cats to let ANYONE who ya’ll know who loves hip hop to know who did the track so I can @ least get credit from my peers (hip hop fans and other producer’s grinding out there) for the beat. I’ve been grinding @ this beat thing for YEARS and for my first placement for a major artist to be a jack move…it just ain’t right…but it is what it is…like I said, do me this justice and @ least let the hip hop heads ya’ll know that the bol Kil from Philly gave MOP THAT heat… not no f***ing Fizzy Womack…”

Also, M.O.P. denies that a statement affirming the alleged beat jacking was confirmed by Lil’ Fame.

“And the quote on the net is not from me I’m looking into who made that statement as me,” Fame told AllHipHop.com.

M.O.P. says that statement was not sent out by the rapper/producer and they don’t represent such disingenuous movements.

Laze concluded:

“We spent a lot of years making our type of music on purpose for that part of society that doesn’t get represented. We left labels and sometimes financial security on sometimes our code alone. So it hurts us that any one would call the Mashout Posse thieves. Even in the robbery days it was point blank. And not from the poor.”
