Pioneering DJ Disco Wiz Drops New Memoir

Legendary Hip-Hop pioneer Luis “DJ Disco Wiz” Cedeño will kick off the Bronx Museum of Art’s Bronx Talks series with a book signing for his new memoir, It’s Just Begun: The Epic Journey of DJ Disco Wiz, Hip-Hop’s First Latino DJ.

The release of the 180-page book marks the latest achievement for Cedeño, who is noted for his alliance with fellow Hip-Hop legend Grandmaster Caz to form the Mighty Force Crew.

The union proved fruitful in 1977 as Cedeño and Caz created a “mixed plate” which combined sound bites, special effects and paused beats.

It’s Just Begun offers 50 never-before-seen photos coupled with a look inside Cedeño’s world as it chronicles his turbulent relationship with his father and efforts to protect his mother who was suffering from breast cancer while growing up in the Bronx in the 1960s and ‘70s.

While the half-Cuban, half-Puerto-Rican turntablist’s rise during the early years of Hip-Hop is prominently featured, the book also delves into Cedeño’s time behind bars at the age of 17 on an attempted murder charge in addition to his journey towards overcoming his setbacks through love, self-respect, and self-determination.

Cedeño’s book signing is the first event lined up for the Bronx Talks series. The monthly event will feature Bronx–based writers and/or books about the Bronx.

The book signing for Cedeño’s It’s Just Begun: The Epic Journey of DJ Disco Wiz, Hip-Hop’s First Latino DJ will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 25 at the museum.

Admission is free.

AllHipHop ChartWatch: Jay-Z And Raekwon Square Off

 ‘

Now normally on a day like today I would just rush through the top 10 and move on to dropping this week.  Let’s be

honest….some of you guys have already skipped down there before even finishing

this sentence.  Well, I skipped out last

week and I like my job so let’s look at who is on the charts.  Jay Z and Raekwon can wait a couple of

paragraphs.

            Well for

those of you that didn’t skip down and are still with me the top ten this week

has a couple of newcomers.  If you would

have told me 15 years ago that the first artist has a number one album it would

have made sense.  If you would have told

me five years ago that this artist had a number one album I would have looked

at you like you’re crazy.  Well, don’t

call it a comeback!  Whitney Houston

returns with her latest album, I Look To

You, and sells about 300,000 copies to take the top spot.

            That is

followed by the girl that’s teaching your children how to pole dance….Miley

Cyrus everyone.  It’s only a matter of

time before she winds up with Dr. Drew on celebrity rehab so enjoy her latest, Time Of Our Lives, which comes in at

number two.

            The next

artist has been working in the music industry for a while and is really

starting to shine as of late.  Trey Songz

manages to mess up my spell check and sell 135,000 copies of his new album, Ready

That puts him solidly at number three with the hopes that he will be

able to maintain his status on the charts for next week.

            At number

four we have the incomparable Michael Jackson who holds the spot with his

collection, Number Ones.  The late musician also holds the number nine

spot with his chart topping album, Thriller.

            In the

relaxed, laid back category we have Colbie Calliat whose latest album, Breakthrough, comes in at number

five.  That is followed by Kings of

Leon’s Only By The Night, and

Chevelle’s Sci-Fi Crimes at numbers

six and seven respectively.

            The next

artist was featured last time in “Dropping this Week” and debuts on the

countdown at number eight.  Miami rapper

Pitbull has a loyal fanbase and they help him move 41,000 copies of his latest

album Rebelution.

            The last

spot in the countdown is held by Taylor Swift whose latest album, Fearless, continues to hold onto the

charts selling 35,000 copies.

            Those of

you that read each week already know about my feelings about the Black Eyed

Peas but I’m not going to hate.  They are

at the eleventh spot selling 33,000 copies of their latest studio album, The E.N.D.  Odds are they will be back on the top ten

next week so there’s no need for me to count them out yet.

            Another

group featured in “Dropping this Week” was the Insane Clown Posse.  Their new disc, Bang! Boom! Pow!, sells 21,000 units and puts them at the number

twenty five position.

            The next

two artist have been right next two each other on the charts for the past few

weeks.  Eminem moves 14,000 copies of his

last studio album Relapse and claims

the thirty third spot followed by Fabolous at thirty four with Loso’s Way.

            On to

“Dropping This Week”

DROPPING THIS WEEK

I applaud those of you that exercised will power and actually read through the top 10.  To the rest of you…shame.  (Actually, I would have skipped down here the

second I read the name Miley Cyrus).

Let’s just go ahead and get the obvious out of the way.  You guys have been waiting on this for

months….years really.  That’s right 3OH!3

are finally  The American electronic group from Boulder,

Colorado —ok…I’ll stop.  You don’t care

about 3OH!3 and neither does their label if they are releasing them this week. dropping an album.

            You do,

however, care about Blueprint 3 and Only Built For Cuban Linx II.  What can really be said about these two

albums that has not already been said.

There are reviews for both albums here at AllHipHop.com that have strong

commentary from fans.  There are die hard

fans for both “Jigga” and “The Chef”.

Many of you had already begun commenting about the albums well before they came out.  (Don’t know how you guys are getting albums

so early…).  So far the response to

Blueprint 3 is you either hate it or love it.

Jay is either evolving or losing his touch.  With Raekwon it’s either a return to the

original Wu-Tang sound that we all loved or the album is just stagnant and

shows no growth.  Both of these albums

are perfect examples that you can not please all the people all the time.  I for one like them both but what do you guys

think?  Are both of them showing growth

or losing touch?  Can the albums be put

up against each other and if so which one is better?  Are they some of the artist’s best work?  Am I asking too many questions?  Let’s get back on topic.

            Only

because I’m going to feel bad, 3OH!3 is coming out with an album this week.  They are really a band.  They are really from Boulder, Colorado.  The new disc is called Want and is their second album but first major release.  The album has Kid Cudi and Katy Perry on it

so it could be interesting.  It looks

they are kind of like a rap-rock hybrid so if you’re into that (or can’t want

for Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit to return with an album) then you may want to

check them out.  (Really though, if you

want to see something….different….yeah, different…youtube the group’s new song

“Holler Till You Pass Out.”  I don’t know

if they are serious or if it’s a joke.  And

they’re not really like Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park.  They are more like the dudes from Saturday

Night Live.  I half expect T-Pain to come

out of nowhere and start singing about a boat).

            I’m sure

there are other people dropping albums this week but do you care?  I gave 3OH!3 some time because I clowned them

early but everyone is just interested in Jay-Z and Raekwon.  I’m sure they should be on the charts for

next week so with that we’ll bring the week to a close.

VIDEO BATTLE: Fat Joe vs 50 Cent vs Nicki Minaj

The Beat Battle Returns fresh and new as the summer comes to a close. Just as the winter enters, the battle heats things up with a fresh set of music videos to duke it out for world supremacy.

This week we have very complicated, but diverse group duking it out.

Ladies First.

Nicki Minaj has somehow managed to get traction in a male dominated genre like Hip-Hop. It can’t all be her looks, as the New York native signed on with one of the major forces in music today. Lil Wayne and Young Money won’t be there in the imaginary ring in this battle though. So, is her “Itty Bitty Piggy” sufficient in this era?

See for yourself.

FAT JOE = “HEY JOE”

Fat Joe returns to the game with a gat! Rock purists will be moved by this song, as long as they don’t hate on the Jimi Hendrix sample. There are a lot of street videos going on out there, but this one looks more like a scene from “Bronx Tale.” It is well-produced, dramatic and gritty – like a movie. The only major flaw is that the song is quite short. Nevertheless, it seems like Fat Joe is ready to strike gold again in the music industry.

50 CENT – “FLIGHT 187”

50 Cent is a character. Just when you think there is nothing in the tank, he bursts out with something like “Flight 187.” The rapper has released several mixtapes and videos promoting everything from the oft-delayed Before I Self Destruct to books to community events. This video is an exercise in creativity from the rapper and his tech team. The ending even disturbed many people that feel he took it over the top. He even takes time to shoot a lyrical jab at millionaire counterpart Jay-Z. Click here to see for yourself.

BONUS BATTLER- JASIRI-X

The ages of Public Enemy and other assertive, political voices are all but gone from rap’s landscape. There are a couple of modern day pioneers that forge ahead. One of them is Jasiri X of Pittsburgh. Although he hasn’t been able to interrupt programming on BET or MTV, the emcee has been fortunate to gain major attention by way of grassroots marketing and the internet. His latest video is called “The Crucifixion of Van Jones.” It addresses Barack Obama’s Green Czar, who was recently forced to step down, under allegations that he was once a communist. He also reportedly claimed that G.W. Bush might have had some involvement in the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Sounds like a Jadakiss line. Van Jones claims the Right has railroaded his aspirations for Mother Earth. He’s got a fan in Jasiri X. Check this video.

DJ Green Lantern: Honoring Hip-Hop

James

D’Agostino, better known as, DJ Green Lantern, has been personally

honoring Hip-Hop since ‘89. Creeping towards perfection, the self-proclaimed The Evil Genius can

transform a computer into a musical instrument, “People are surprised

when they find out I’m a professional producer. I’ve been producing

since 1991; I never stopped.” Adding to his diverse musical repertoire

The Evil One has become an accomplished DJ, an entertaining on-air personality

and a prominent mixtape guru. These collective efforts are a way in

which he continues to infuse his unique creativity into Hip-Hop.

      Having

worked many of Hip-Hop’s elite, The Evil Genius still welcomes working

with the inventive new faces like Johnny Polygon, the compelling voice

that singing the hook on Nas’ “Black President.” JP is the first

artist signed to Green’s Invasion Music. “He actually has a project…

look out for it. It’s pretty dope—it’s left of what you’d expect.”

Johnny Polygon’s debut effort, Wolf

In Cheap Clothing is due later this year.

      In

an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, DJ Green Lantern discusses

everything from his favorite creative aspect of Hip-Hop to payola to

beef.

AllHipHop.com:

You can be considered a musical Renaissance man you’re a DJ, you’re

a producer and you’re an on-air personality. Within Hip-Hop what’s

your favorite creative medium?

Green: With producing

I can do what I want to do. I can take a sound-bite from a movie, I

can take a little phrase that somebody says from a record and use it

a’capella and little phrase that someone says from a record. I can

get a beat from somewhere else and mix ‘em all up and do what I want

with it; and make it all artistic and creative. People will be able

to sit with it and rewind it and really catch the creativity. Sometimes

being on the radio those elements like fly over people’s heads. You

just listen to it in real time you don’t get to rewind it like that.

So you do different things on radio you have moments with [the] artists.

Then in the club those kind of moments kind fly by them. When you put

a set together you do it more simple [and] more to the point. You try

to get that response in the club. I would say creatively, just strictly

creatively speaking, I would say the mixtapes. But I enjoy being a club

DJ, a DJ and an on-air personality and writer of songs and what not.

AllHipHop.com: Can you

remember what motivated James D’Agostino to make Hip-Hop his career?

Green:

To make it my career was [doing] the mixtapes. The rush that you get

from the love from putting out a project. People are ohhhing and ahhhhing

over it because it was so creative. It was next level with the production

and what not on it. It wasn’t what people were used to. I was getting

responses like, ‘Yo, that s### was crazy. That s### is hot.’ It

was a different type of response. I was like I can work with this thing.

It wasn’t let me make a living off of this; it was let me just keep

getting that response. The by-product of that was all of a sudden some

money came through. I was able to quit a job and really realize my love

and just do this.

Before I was a DJ I was making

beats and calling myself a producer. This was back in 1991. Some beats

I had was on the back burner then the DJ thing came around. Then the

mixtape thing and it brought my name to the world; people kinda paid

attention when I produced a song. I was able to walk into a studio with

a big name artist and turn in my beats because they knew me as a DJ.

That’s how I got able to produce Ludacris “Number One Spot” and

Busta Rhymes and Rick James “In The Ghetto,” you know stuff like

that, Nas’ “Dear President.”

AllHipHop.com: Have

you ever recycled a beat?

Green:

Man, I think I just did that. That’s a thorough-ass question; I just

did that, probably a few times. Like, I might have made something and

I really didn’t do nothing with it or nobody took the beat. I guarantee

you I just did that for this dead prez song. I had an original beat

that I had made. Damn, I don’t want to give this away—okay, I’ll

say it like this. There is this huge project that is coming out that

I can’t say the name of. I had shopped the beat to this artist. He

ended up not getting back to me saying that he wanted the beat until

after I had recorded the beat with dead prez.

That’s just kinda the standard

in the music game; you shop beats to a whole bunch of different people,

whoever wants to get on it will get back to you. If business is right

that’s who gets it. Sometimes people will have beats. Just because

they have six million beats in their computer doesn’t mean that they’re

theirs. You have to pay for them… Bottom line, there was this song

I shopped to this huge artist. This artist has been working on this

big ass project that everyone has been waiting on for a bunch of years.

And that says enough.

AllHipHop.com: What’s

your overall feeling about the time that you spent with Shady Records?

Green:

Ah, man, blessings, I learned a whole lot. I toured the world. I was

kind touring the world before that. I had been to Europe and Australia

on a deejay level where you’re doing clubs and things like that. But

that was a whole ‘nother level that I saw with [Shady Records] which

was like 50,000 people in an arena, and outside and s### like that.

It was definitely a great time in my life; big up to everybody over

there.

AllHipHop.com: Armageddon,

what’s its status, will it be forever banished to the land of lyrical

purgatory?

Green:

[laughs] You have a crazy vocabulary on you. Did you say purgatory?

Wow. Dang, can I use that? Armageddon was almost finished and

it was kinda left alone when I left that situation. You know, some of

that music was attached and owned by the labels, so you have label issues

going on. I make so much music— so if that’s going to be a stipulation,

then aight, cool.

AllHipHop.com: How do

you incorporate an artist that you normally wouldn’t listen to? When

there’s a popular record that people love; but, you as a man may think

it is garbage; when you’re deejaying, how do you remain unbiased?

Green:

Interesting, that kinda doesn’t collide with me, I’m really lucky

to be in that situation. In my current radio show on Sirius Radio they

say play what the hell you want to play, you know. But at the club,

I would say that that may apply because I play for the people; I play

for the crowd that’s in front of me. If I don’t like a particular

record—Like, I wasn’t big on Miami Bass. Honestly when it first

came out I wasn’t big on it but I knew that for at least for that

10 or 15 minutes a night you had to play at least four records at the

club. If I gotta play “Me So Horny” in the club, if that’s going

to make the crowd go crazy, how could I deny that? It’s only like

that in the club and I’m not mad at that because I can look at these

1000 people going crazy to this record…

AllHipHop.com: As a

man with a voice you’ve been forthcoming with some of your political

opinions you were part of the “Bin Laden” track and you teamed up

with Russell Simmons for the Yes We Can

Mixtape. Do you think that Hip-Hop is an effective form to catalyze

political change?

Green:

Most definitely… To put it in simple terms, if you have the people

and you have the politicians, if the politicians see that the people

are feeling a certain way and that they’re organizing and gathering

a certain way and they’re gathering around, let’s say music. Then

you have people with political ideas like Immortal Technique or a Dead

Prez and it’s galvanizing x amount of people and these people are

protesting and their voices are starting to get heard. Then x amount

of politicians or political entities will take that into consideration

when they formulate policy.

That’s how I look at things.

If you stay quiet and keep your mouth shut, to them everything is cool

there’s no problems, nothing needs to be changed. On a basic level

people are stirred up or inspired by music. Say a song like “Bin Laden”

or whatever else, you know, Nas’ “Black Presidents” or Jeezy’s

“My President Is Black” — the people that are making decisions

just on a small level will consider [that] if I want to stay in power

[and] if this is the general consensus of the people that will be electing

me two years from now, I’ll need to put some policies in play that

will reflect their concerns and their interests.

AllHipHop.com: Let’s

bring this back to Hip-Hop, as a DJ you have a lot of power in regards

to what songs will get played. Have you ever participated in any payola?

Green:

Hell no! Something was brought up, there was a disgruntled artist [who]

put a accusation out there that I told him I needed some money from

him to play his s###, and hell no! First of all, let me be clear, I

work one day a week on satellite radio for two hours. That don’t garner

no damn payola. First and foremost, if they’re paying somebody they’re

paying the guy’s that on every day. But strictly speaking, they don’t

even offer the one-day-a-week guys no brown paper bag or no type of

money, period. Because, we don’t affect the BDS’s (Broadcast Data Systems) like the every day

guys do. So, when you hear about people being accused of payola, it’s

mostly the guys that’s on every day. That’s not to shine the light

over there; I’m just saying you shouldn’t look over here. A once-a-week

guy is not enough to sway your BDSs. If I give you one spin a week,

you know, the math doesn’t add up.

AllHipHop.com: Within

the last five years which two Hip-Hop tracks do you think have had the

best production?

Green:

Great question, damn. I would say one of which is the Jay-Z and Nas

“Black Republicans” and I believe that L.E.S. did. That was on the

Nas album it was the song where they crushed the beef and all that.

That beat to me is just retarded; definitely a favorite. I loved the

Jeezy beat from the last album, it was a song called “Who Dat,”

Shawty Redd made the beat. The “Who Dat” beat is crazy. I appreciate

the Southern just as much as I just named the “Black Republicans”

beat [because] it’s a straight sample and horns and a super New York

sounding beat. I still appreciate it for what it is a straight super

Southern joint in my eyes. It is done well. To me that beat right there

is straight aggression, the way the drums come in, and it switches up

and goes up in the register.  It’s crazy to me. I love the Busta

Rhymes [“Respect My Conglomerate”] beat. I love that beat. I’m

just a fan of beats. I could go on and on.

AllHipHop.com: Let’s

get on producers; within the last year has any emerging producer caught

your attention?

Green:

Probably Exile. He’s crazy… If you Google him or YouTube him, Exile

does these live MPC things where he’s going crazy on the MPC live.

His beats are real ill. He’s kinda in the school of J Dilla where

it’s like super chopped up samples and dope s### like that. I would

say Exile and on the Queen side of things, there’s a up-and-coming

producer, Nicco.  The reason I say him is because there’s another

spectrum across from Exile. He has a really dope futuristic-sounding

music where it’s not sampled based. I can appreciate the whole spectrum.

AllHipHop.com: Last

question, beef; is it necessary within Hip-Hop?

Green:

I f**king hate beef; I’m a vegetarian. I think that beef has gotten

extremely out of control. It’s not genuine anymore; the issues that

people have I don’t believe anything anymore. I feel like the whole

thing is just a marketing ploy. It’s been pimped and ho’d like many

other aspects of Hip-Hop. At one point it was interesting because of

the human nature point of it all. You know, back when LL Cool J versus

Kool Moe Dee that was interesting. Back then we never thought that s###

was a fake or WWE; but, later on you did because it got pimped and ho’d….

With KRS-One versus MC Shan,

that thought never crossed your mind, that that s*** was fake. That

s*** was real. The money wasn’t there; they weren’t using it as

a marketing clause for album sales or visibility on blogs or to help

generate interest on a album; none of that s***. It’s become retarded

it’s crazy. I hate the word and it’s disgusting.

AHH Stray News: 50 Cent, Fab Vs. T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Speech DeBelle

Rapper 50 Cent has set off speculation that a name change could be coming after the release of his fourth major album, Before I Self Destruct. 50 sent a cryptic message on his Twitter.com page, stating “50 Cent is a person I created, soon it will be time to destroy him and become somebody else.” 50 Cent took his name from Kelvin “50 Cent” Martin, a notorious “stick-up kid” who hailed from Brooklyn, New York and was the subject of the documentary Infamous Times: The Original 50 Cent. In related news, 50 Cent’s book The 50th Law with author Robert Greene, landed in stores yesterday (September 8).

Fabolous recently took to Twitter.com, where he fired off a series of Tweets attacking superstar producer T-Pain. Fabolous mistakenly replied to a Tweet sent from a phony T-Pain Twitter account that stated “f**k Jay-Z and Fabolous too.” In addition to defending his own honor, Fabolous took up for fellow Brooklynite Jay-Z, who was dissed by T-Pain just days earlier in Las Vegas. Yesterday, a trending topic on the site was the “hash tag” “#tpainbetter.” That was followed by a number of insults, including #tpain better not meet me in Brooklyn” and..#tpainbetter audition to be a California Raisin….“He’s done. stop singin in the fan… that aint talent we can all do that.” When Fabolous found out the Tweet was from a fake account he stated: “thats jus a taste of what u’ll get if u f**k wit me via twitter, Back to my Twitter chillin.” T-Pain has yet to respond to Fabolous’ rant.

Lil’ Wayne’s 2008-2009 North American tour schedule grossed over $42 million dollars, making it the most lucrative Hip-Hop tour ever tracked by industry trade magazine, Billboard. Lil Wayne headlined 78 arena’s or amphitheater concerts from December 2008 to September 2009, drawing over 804,000 fans. Wayne’s $42 million topped Jay-Z’s 2008 tour with Mary J. Blige, which raked in $34.6 million off of 28 shows.

Rapper Speech DeBelle beat out 11 acts to win the esteemed Mercury Prize for her album Speech Therapy. The rapper, who hails from south London, won the Mercury Prize for releasing what critics felt was the best album in the past year. In addition to added exposure as a new artist, Speech DeBelle won £20,000. “I feel so good. It feels better than I imagined. My family’s here. My friends are here. I’m from south London – I don’t get emotional – I’m emotional. This proves if you believe in something and you think you can do it, you can achieve it,” Speech DeBelle said.

Hip-Hop Rumors:Another Baby For Wayne? Fabolous Says “My Bad!” Illseed Needs Help!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I am now on the prowl looking for a new assistant. The editors decided to make a decision with Miss Mouth and put her in a different section of the site should she accept. Anyway, I am looking for somebody to compliment my style and provide the readers with good content in the world of rumors and some gossip.

So, if you have that, send a sample of your work to [email protected].

We are trying to deliver the best in rumors! Now, I want you to help by simply letting us know what’s going on! Been rather dry as of late!

HERE ARE SOME ILLSEED QUICKIES TO GET THE DAY OFF RIGHT!

Lady Gaga is reportedly offended that people actually thought she may have a bozack under that dress.

Raekwon is No. 1 on iTunes.

It is looking like Eminem is going to do a video for “Forever” with Drake, Wayne and Ye.

Rick Ross has fallen back from wanting to battle Eminem.

Rumor has it, Jermaine Jackson is spazzing over control of the money that the rest of the Jackson’s are being offered to perform. He allegedly thinks he should get more and has proclaimed himself to be the “new Michael Jackson.”

Congrats to The Dream and C. Milli on their marriage!

Sean Penn is reportedly dating Jessica White. I guess this is a big deal, because he’s White and she’s Penn…I mean, Black.

I heard Jay-Z’s MSG concert sold out in 1 second. LMAO! I’m kidding.

RANDOM QUOTES

Roxanne Shante is kind of fighting back on recent reports that she lied about having that PHD and a bunch of other stuff.

“I’m just gonna let it go … What he’s [slate.com] trying to do is trying to get himself known, to get the popular sites to read after him. This is not a $5 billion Ponzi scheme. What would make someone go so hard and heavy at that?”

I think Alfamega would like to know the answer to that question too. [Source] Well, I guess its time to move on.

JAY-Z’S REAL FRIEND

I wrote this yesterday, but I wanted to make sure this was all cleared up and up and away. I guess we got too eager over the Shyne rumors.

Hey, I’m a big Jay-Z fan, but I am not the biggest so I don’t know all the in’s and out’s of dude’s life. From what I have been told, Jay-Z isn’t talking about Shyne on that Jeezy song. Somebody that clearly knows more than me says he’s talking about his boy in the FED’s who’s name is Emory. Apparently this dude is now incarcerated in Lexington, KY and has since been transferred to Pineknot, KY. From what I understand, this was also addressed on Kingdom Come. Apparently, this is the real dude – not Shyne.

ANOTHER BABY FOR WAYNE?

I have not a clue how many babies Lil Wayne is set to have. I mean, there are the two that we know of. BUT, I have recently gotten rumors or info from a pair of other chicks that say they are having Wayne’s baby too. Well, actually the most recent one is saying that she is “100% sure” she is pregnant by Lil Wayne. A crazy notion to even think! The girl’s ex-boyfriend even know about it. Must be wild….I am hearing this other girl is from the mid-West.

CHRIS AND RIHANNA GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN IN MEXICO?

I’ll tell ya…this sure is getting old. Nevertheless, in a rumor drought, you gotta report it. We all know Chris and RiRi cannot see each other for five years. Well, there are rumors going around suggesting that hey pair are looking to go to Acapulco, Mexico to link up. Apparently this is not a violation of Chris’ agreement with the state of Cali. Does Breezy really wanna go this route? I think not. But, it is being said that both have conferred with their lawyers to determine the legalities of this.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

DIDDY AND RAEKWON DISS SKINNY JEANS!

Honestly, I think the skinny jeans thing has lingered, because so many people have dissed it. I heard last night Diddy and Raekwon went IN on the skinny jeans! I heard they said that the jeans cause all sorts of ailments and that it is just time to let that phase go. I think skinny jeans are the equivalent to Hammer pants back in the day. They might be trendy now, but in a couple of years, you will look like a damn clown. Obviously, HAMMER doesn’t look like a clown…they are Hammer pants! Anyway…

I heard Raekwon say something about himself being David and Jay-Z being Golithe and that he was going to win. I don’t know, but it seems like Rae is really going at it. Here is a problem I think Rae may encounter. He may not have enough product out there for the masses to consume. I heard he shipped far less than Jay-Z. Anyway, Rae is number 1 on iTunes for now and that’s great news for Hip-Hop.

WTF?

This dude is going in on Worldstarr Hip-Hop and backing it up in deed! Holy Crap! It seems there is a computer shortcut that allows u to refresh the page over and over, which results in mad more hits.

This is…interesting! WHOA!MAIA CAMPBELL UPDATE!

Perhaps a reader was right. While that video of Maia Campbell was very disturbing, it seems to have raised the proper awareness. Necole Bitchie has run a statement about this. I hope they keep her away from those bums she was with.

“Maia is in treatment. And she said that there is hope for Maia’s recovery but the prayers of “50,000,000? people can make the difference, because Maia doesn’t like to stay in treatment, and her treatment involves drug withdrawal as well as treatment for her disorders. She asked me to tell you that Maia’s disorders are exasperated and sent out of control by substance abuse. Pre-existing and early onset bi-polar, clinical depression and schizophrenia can be sent out of control by marijuana (the worst culprit), alcohol and of course, synthetic and street drugs. Maintain your hope for Maia’s recovery. Nancy said, “She can use her beauty, talent, and celebrity for the good of others.”

THE COPS WERE CALLED TO HALLE BERRY’S HOUSE!

It seems like the coppers are very protective of Ms. Halle Berry. I would too. If I was a cop, any opportunity to rush over her house would be taken and abused to the fullest degree. Anything to get near to my Halle. Anyway, it seems that something set off the alarm in the house and the cops responded with force and speed, I was told. It all turned out to be nothing. If I was the cop, I would have been something. I would have been like, “Ms. Berry, I believe the problem came from your bed room. You and I need to check this out to ensure your safety. Please, let us go.” LOL…sorry, sorry…bad seed!

I HATE SMART DUMMIES!!!!!!

Arrrrrgh! Check it, yesterday I wrote that LL Cool J was the first artist to release an album on Def Jam. I KNEW what I was writing when I said that, right? So, here comes the super duper historian cat. He tells me, “You need to check your history.” So dude says that LL Cool J was NOT the first rapper to release an album on Def Jam Records. So, here I am in my head thinking….”Well, who the hell is the first person to release an album on Def Jam, if not LL.” I’m like…I know its not T La Rock, because he only did a single or so. He was the first person to release a song on Def Jam and LL was the album. I await dude’s reply!!!!!!!!

EPIC WIN OF THE DAY!

Hell Rell Accuses Jim Jones Of Stealing Royalties In Lawsuit

The beef between former Dipset members Hell Rell and Jim Jones has landed in court in a new lawsuit against Jim Jones and a number of record labels.

Hell Rell, born Durell Mohammed, was a member of Cam’ron’s Diplomats crew, which at one point featured Cam, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Hell Rell, Max B and others.

The lawsuit, which was filed in New York County Court, claims that Jim Jones, Koch, Tycoon Entertainment Babygrande Records and E1 cheated him out of royalties.

Hell Rell signed with Koch/E1 in 2007 and released one album for the label, Hell Up in Harlem.

That album was followed with 2008’s Black Mask, Black Gloves, which was released via the mom & pop label, Babygrande Records.

Hell Rell recently expressed his grievances with his former group members, claiming that Jim Jones and Juelz Santana ruined The Diplomats.

Santana has defended himself and Jones against any wrong doing, claiming Hell Rell needed a Diplomat reunion for financial reasons.

Hell Rell recently inked a deal with Money Maker Entertainment/EMI to release his third official album, Live From Hell.

Live From Hell is due in stores October 6.

Snoop Named Creative Chairman Of EMI’s Priority Records

Hip-Hop superstar Snoop Dogg will don the role of Creative Chairman of EMI Music’s legendary record label, Priority Records.

As Creative Chairman, Snoop will re-establishing Priority Records as force in today’s music industry, in addition to establishing a digital strategy for Priority.

Ted Chung, Snoop’s long-time creative associate and manager at Stampede Management will become Brand Strategist for Priority, to help execute Snoop’s business vision for the label.

“Starting fresh with EMI is a great feeling,” Snoop Dogg told AllHipHop.com in a statement released today (September 8). “It’s a new partnership, a new Priority Records, and a new Snoop Dogg: the Creative Chairman…the Boss Dogg…the Dogg Father. The business model we’ve developed will bring the musical heritage of groups like N.W.A. to the forefront.”

The first release with Snoop acting as head of the label will be his own highly anticipated 10th album, Malice in Wonderland.

The album features production by Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Tricky Stewart, The Dream, Danja and Nottz. Guests include Lil Jon, Brandy, The Dream, R. Kelly, Jazmine Sullivan and Soulja Boy.

According to Nick Gatfield, President of New Music for EMI Music in North America, UK & Ireland, Snoop’s global appeal would help reinvigorate Priority.

The label was originally founded by Bryan Turner, Steve Drath and Mark Cerami in 1985.

Priority Records released a number of ground breaking records from artists and indies like Eazy-E, N.W.A, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Ruthless Records, No Limit Records, Death Row Records and numerous others.

“The world knows and loves Snoop as a unique and undeniably influential artist. His innate understanding of the urban music scene and his ability to strike a chord with fans, time and again are why he has built a successful career,” Gatfield said. “EMI’s mission is to truly understand and serve music fans around the world, and we recognize that Snoop is a creative talent who `gets’ his fan base and recognizes great music and entertainment trends. We join with millions of fans around the world in anticipation of a new Snoop album and the other exciting projects that Snoop will drive at Priority.”

Snoop Dogg’s 10th studio album Malice In Wonderland is due in stores in December.

According to reports, the couple rented their wedding garb from the Chapel for under $300 dollars.

Jay-Z Responds To T-Pain

Jay-Z has responded the verbal lashing by rapper/singer T-Pain, who said “F**k Jay-Z” in Las Vegas at Club Rehab.

On the Ed Lover Morning Show, co-host Free asked the rapper about his feelings on the move by T-Pain.

“I made it very clear I wasn’t talking about him,” Jay-Z said of T-Pain. “I think he’s talented, I don’t think he need Autotune to sell records but if that’s his prerogative. D.O.A. was just for the conversation. ”

While T-Pain wasn’t the target of D.O.A., he appeared to take issue with the song. “I said he brought [Autotune] back,” Jay-Z said.

When asked about a possible generational difference, Jay-Z shrugged off the notion that he was too old to be an active member in Hip-Hop.

“Well, everybody has a birthday. They don’t have much else to say, they can’t attack my credentials as an artist or my lyrics as an MC,” he said.

“Even still with all these guys running around…I still represent Hip-Hop…I represent the culture. When I have conversation with Oprah or Bill Maher, represent the culture.”
