Miami Celebrates LeBron’s Arrival, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Luke Weigh In

(AllHipHop News) Former Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James celebrated his new deal with the Miami Heat during a celebration for 13,000 fans at the American Airlines Arena last night (July 9th) in Miami, Florida. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh – dubbed the three kings – were lifted on to the stage on a fork lift,  in front of thousands of screaming fans. The trio has played together in the past, earning a gold medal for  U.S. Olympic Basketball team during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. “It feels right to be in this position to wear this uniform,” James told Miami fans. “We’re going to make the world know the Heat is back.”Fans in Cleveland are taking the news of James’ departure hard.In addition to burning LeBron’s iconic “23” jersey, a 10-story-tall image of LeBron James on a mural in downtown Cleveland is coming down today (July 10th). The city of Cleveland and the region of Northeastern Ohio, is expected to lose between $20 million and $40 million dollars, now that James has left the city. And while fans in Cleveland sulk over the 25-year-old’s departure, three of Miami’s top rappers believe the “Three Kings” will be good for their city. “Heat is the new ming dynasty,” rapper Rick Ross (@rickyrozay) told AllHipHop.com last night, while DJ Khaled added: With Bron coming all we’ll do is win, win, win no matter what. The city deserves this.”“LeBron isn’t just a basketball player, he’s a brand, and that brand is sold worldwide,” accountant Tony Argiz, a partner with Morrison, Brown, Argiz and Farra, told the Miami Herald. The three players’ presence in the city is expected to bring between $500-600 million dollars into Miami factoring sponsorships, ticket sales, real estate purchases, hotel sales, nightlife earnings and potential play-off revenue. “This is the biggest thing that has ever happen in Miami every game the world will eyes will be on Miami,” Luke told AllHipHop.com. “I am so happy that I have been fan from day one. And happy for my city.”LeBron James is expected to appear in New York tonight (July 10th) during Carmelo Anthony’s wedding to LaLa Vasquez at Cipriani’s on 42nd Street.

Rappers & Their Wives: Aliya S. King’s “Platinum,” Fact or Fiction?

Make no mistake about it, “Platinum” is a fictitious tale (wink, wink). But, once one picks up the book as written by Aliya S. King, said reader is immediately drawn into the engrossing story in a way that they are attracted to the rumors page on AllHipHop. The characters in “Platinum” are eerily close to real life people in Hip-Hop and R&B. Perhaps, this is because her previous works have been about real people like Faith Evans, wife of heralded rapper Biggie Smalls. Recently, the NewYork Times best selling author penned the life of Frank Lucas, entitled Original Gangster, and co-authored an upcoming memoir called “Raised By The Mistress.”

King has people already guessing who is who and what is real. “Platinum” chronicles the lives of several women in the music industry and the male artists they are in relationships with. Fictitiously, there’s a lil Jay-Z here, a lil Superhead there….a dash of Chris Brown and Rihanna. Even some DMX and Beyonce…allegedly.

AllHipHop.com: Give me the basic overview of how “Platinum” came about.

Aliya S. King: The story [of “Platinum”] was born out of a story that was given to me by Serena Kim over at VIBE. Serena decided she was curious to know what it was like for a woman that was married to a rapper – a popular rapper. They got all this money, they got all these things. They got the fancy house…are they happy? This is around the time when  was running through the whole industry. It was that aspect too. “Can you really be happily married if your husband is rumored to be sleeping with someone else?”

She send me out  on a journey that was nearly impossible and she said, “Find these women.”  Its not like these kinds of women are just hanging out at the club. That might be the case now where you have reality shows, but back then, they stayed in the house. They weren’t out and about. They were home with the kids chilling out. So, I started a letter-writing campaign. I wrote letters to Ja-Rule’s wife. I wrote letters to Shante Broadus, Snoop Dog’s wife. Tahera Simmons,’ DMX’s wife. And I just  didn’t give up. I would write them letters, I would send them flowers and eventually, I wore them down and they started to get back to me. When the story came out, I was proud of it, but I decided I had more to say. I thought, “This would make a really good novel.” And that is how “Platinum” was born.

AllHipHop.com: How close was your relationship with the wives and ladies? What is reflective of the lead character Alex?

Aliya S. King: Yeah, its very reflective of the lead character. Alex is me for the most part. I did end up becoming close to the women in the process of writing the story. What I found interesting is they wanted to talk. The husbands had set them up in a way were it just wasn’t considered something you do.

AllHipHop.com: I know every character is a composite and things like that, but there’s been some talk this one character Cleo is Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. Yeah? No?

Aliya S. King: I have to be honest and say that Cleo is very closely related to Karrine Steffans. And the only reason I can say that legally is  because she wrote a book about her life. I don’t have a character based on somebody that’s never talked about what they did. If Karrine Steffans hadn’t written a book, I proably couldn’t have gotten away with a character like Cleo. But she put all her stuff out there, which means I can take that and fictionalize it if I want. At least that what my lawyer tells me.

AllHipHop.com: Now, here’s something that’s a lil more touchy. There’s this guy named Jake…and Kipenzi,  his lady. They closely resemble Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Aliya S. King: Do they?

AllHipHop.com: He’s a big time rapper and president of a label.  She’s successful as well as an R&B singer. There’s even this younger R&B singer that seems to be very much like Rihanna.

Aliya S. King:  When you say Jake  is a rapper  who run a label, I can think of others that fit that bill. Damon Dash at one time was running and was involved with Aaliyah when she was at her height. Sooooo…you know, you never know.

AllHipHop.com: Dame’s not a rapper though. He’s not an artist.

Aliya S. King: This is true, but I did say they were composites.

AllHipHop.com: Yeah.

Aliya S. King: Yeah! Tommy Mottola is an exectuve that was married to a very popular singer (in Mariah Carey). He didn’t rap – not that I know of – but again…they are composites.

AllHipHop.com: Do you think that they are going to read these stories and feel a way about it?

Aliya S. King: I hope so.

AllHipHop.com: Why?

Aliya S. King: I hope they love it. I hope they feel so away about they want to option it into a film. Then, they can do what they want with it.

AllHipHop.com: Is that one of your ambitions?

Aliya S. King:  I can’t say who, but I’m happy to say that someone, who is portrayed in the book is interested in optioning it into a film. But I don’t put any stock in that. Those things can change by the day. Things happen.

AllHipHop.com: What about the whole thing with Beth? Can you say who that closely resembles? Obviously, she has a drug-addicted man who is a rapper? Obviously, we’re talking DMX.

Aliya S. King: Hmmmmm…but you know…Beth is a blonde White girl from Mississippi. Did I just change her nationality and her hometown to throw people off? Maybe! I think Beth and Z (the DMX-like character) are the one couple that people are going to be able to say,  “I know who this is.” I’m not saying who this is, but I do think that the readers will know.

AllHipHop.com: Right…so legally, you have to say “Mums  the word” and let people figure it out.

Aliya S. King: What’s interesting about Beth and Z is the person that I am loosely, allegedly based that on, she got ahold of the book early on and she called me. She said, “Girl, you know I’m Beth so don’t even try it!” I was like, “Oh God…what is she gonna do? Is she gonna beat me up?” And  you know what she said?

AllHipHop.com: What?

Aliya S. King: “I don’t have any beef with this  book, because it was right on point and I can identify with, not just Beth, but with all the women in the book.” So that made me feel good.

AllHipHop.com: So, I’m trying not to cross the line since I have my inside info.

Aliya S. King: Cross the line!

AllHipHop.com: Are you doing a tell-all book with one of these ladies?

Aliya S. King: That’s a possibility! That’s definitely in the air. There are actually two people that see themselves in the book. Its interesting because the work came to me because of “Platinum.” I thought that when this book came out these women would run to the hills and hate me.  But instead, I’ve been sought out. They are like, “You wrote the fictional portrayal of what I went through, but I’m ready to write the real deal!”

AllHipHop.com: I heard your working on the second part already.

Aliya S. King: “Platinum” does end on a cliff hanger. I definitely left it open-ended. I wasn’t sure if was going to write a [sequel], but I like the idea of not wrapping things up in a neat bow. Part 2 will be in stores  next summer?

AllHipHop.com: so is this Chris Brown guy (character Zander) going to be in Part 2?

Aliya S. King: You said Chris Brown, I didn’t. I would say Zander and his girlfriend Bunnie definitely gets a bigger parts in Part 2. They are going to go through a lot together.

AllHipHop.com: Is there any deeper meaning to the book? The book shows the dark side of the music industry, especially how some of them are portrayed.

Aliya S. King: I think so. And you know what’s funny? When I wrote the book,  I didn’t think so. I thought this is a fun, sexy, salacious book that I would love to read. After re-reading it and after hearing what people are saying…this is a cautionary tale. I’ve heard from women who are saying, “I don’t know if I can be with a rapper based on what I’ve read.”

AllHipHop.com: Last question. Will men like this book?

Aliya S. King: Well, you know what’s funny?  I have a nice group of men who are reading it and they pretend that they are just reading it because their wife had it and “I just picked it up.” They are loving it. Its not just about these women – its about these men that they can relate to. They are sitting there trying to figure out who Jake is too.

After Lebron: Can We Talk Cleveland…

He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Basketball became his

outlet and saving grace. He became a hometown hero, beloved by his state, and

revered by his peers. His name is Lebron James, professional basketball player.

Lebron loves Akron, he loves Ohio, and he loves his fans.

Fresh out of High School, he was draft #1 to the Cleveland Cavaliers. You

couldn’t script a better beginning to a story. He had the height and length of

an Ervin “Magic” Johnson with the explosiveness and competitive attributes of

Michael “Air” Jordan. His career in basketball was blanketed by hype from the

start. And if you could look past that fact that he put in 7 years without a without

winning a championship, he actually exceeded the hype.

While we’re on the subject of hype, I wanted to make the

point that hype isn’t something you bestow upon yourself. Hype is placed upon

you; it surrounds you. Hype is an overwhelming expectation which picks up steam

and grows into a monster of pressure, not necessarily felt by the subject. As a

matter of fact, those that place hype on a subject, often accuses the subject

of owning and spreading this social virus. Flava Flav said to not believe the

hype. Over the past few days, people believed the hype, became angry with the

subject of it, lashed out on the subject, and never stopped to think whether or

not Lebron James believed it himself.

Hype led people to believe that Lebron James set up his

press conference to stick it to the city and state he loved. On Wednesday, Wade

and Bosh had a similar press conference on the same channel. There wasn’t much difference

between the two press conferences. Well there was one difference. For those

that don’t know, The Boys and Girls Club of America are suffering from major

funding cuts across the country. These clubs need our help, our time, and our

donations. So when Lebron took all the hype placed on him and found a way to

generate money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, how could you not

respect him for that?

The truth is, the Summer of 2010 was built up to the most

anticipated free agent event in NBA history, by the league. Furthermore, the

New York Knicks played a role in growing the hype around James with their

ongoing pursuit. New York media hyped the fact of Lebron hosting his press

conference in Connecticut as a precursor to him signing with the Knicks. Yet

people were mad at Lebron for his location choice, when 1 + 1 never equaled 2

All-Star signings for the Knicks this summer. Let’s be honest, if Lebron was

anything like Jordan or even Kobe Bryant, the honor was scoring 50+ points in

Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. Who wants the pressure of trying to

score 50+ points, for 42 games in the regular season? There’s no allure in

that.

The NBA and ESPN played a role in growing the hype around

Lebron. For the NBA, it accomplished being near the top of the news chain

during the month of July; a month where the league is normally all but

forgotten until the next season. So to place Lebron James up against the World

Cup and hold its ground was a victory for the league (at Lebron’s expense). For

ESPN, this was the perfect opportunity to infuse news, opinion and drama, hour

after hour, day after day. ESPN acquired exclusivity to both press conferences,

kept all the teams that were in the Lebron sweepstakes in the mix and allowed

for their analysts to play for and against the hype. It was a win/win situation

for the NBA and ESPN. For Lebron, his character took a critical blow.

Ok Cleveland, let’s talk…

LBJ gave all he had to the city of Cleveland. It was his

skill sets that sparked the winning attitude that Cleveland fans would give

their first born to be a part of. It was Lebron’s passion that made Cleveland a

city of believers again. He didn’t rebuild Cleveland on his own. He was given

an opportunity and excelled with it. All the more reason that when he made the

decision to leave for Miami, the initial reaction was mirrored to walking in on

your spouse having sex, with your sibling. There isn’t a beating heart in

Cleveland today. But you will heal, and this is why.

Cleveland, if you love Lebron as much as he loved

representing you and his hometown (well accept for the fact that he loved the

New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys), you will someday understand that this

was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. Cleveland, you must find solace in the

fact of how much it took for him to leave you; it took two Olympians, one of

them an NBA Finals MVP, a President of Basketball Operations that knows exactly

what it takes to win a Championship, and living with the heart break of not

delivering to you what he wanting to lift in your name, an NBA Championship. If

you ever loved Lebron, his leaving will sting, but his winning of a

Championship would be your victory as well. Who’s to say that after his deal was

up in Miami, that he wouldn’t have come back to you?

Cleveland, what if Lebron won a title in Miami, and came

back home to you with the knowledge and experience needed to deliver you the trophy?

Think about it. He was clearly emotional in his goodbyes last night. The man

loves you, he is dedicated to you. Sad to say that after the release of the

letter from your owner Dan Gilbert, your favorite son may never come back home.

Dan Gilbert went in with the relentlessness of Lil’ Wayne on

mixtapes and the brash tongue of Kanye West at an awards show. Gilbert did more

than call Lebron a quitter, he fueled the fires of your disappointment until

your favorite son, became public enemy #1. The nation watched on as official

Lebron James jerseys burned, as posters were ripped, cardboard cutouts were

pulled apart, tears fell, and people were locked up for disorderly conduct. But

my question is this Cleveland, if a clearly injured Lebron quitted on you during

the Boston series (Boston later went on to lose in Game 7 of the NBA Finals)

why did Gilbert still try to sign him to a max deal?

Cleveland, take a deep breath and think about what just

transpired. Think about the stories you’ve read in the newspaper and online.

Think about all the drama surrounding Lebron on Social Networks. Most

importantly, think about the 7 years that Lebron James given to your team.

You’re team had the best record in the league, Cleveland. You had a two-time

MVP, Cleveland. You’ve made it to an NBA Finals, Cleveland. Yet, you have an

owner that believed your city was cursed? He did say that the “curse” would

follow Lebron down south, right? How do you expect to finally reach the

euphoria of winning a championship without getting past your past? For better

or for worse, Lebron James, your favorite son, has taught you and the world

that Cleveland can be a strong force in Sports. So I suggest that you take

Lebron’s lead and move forward. You can no longer allow for the media to tell

you that you’re destined for failure; you don’t have to accept media outlets

creating a top 10 of the worst sports moments in the history of your city. You

must close your ears to the older generations that insist Cleveland is cursed;

it is hard to believe, when you think you’re cursed. Cleveland can thrive

again. But it starts with you; your mentality, your perseverance and optimism.

Lebron James has spread his wings and left the nest. Wish

him luck, Cleveland. Be prideful from within. Cleveland, we wish you luck.

Rihanna has never been the biggest or best performer, but she is a major star. So, this is why this is rumor worthy. She just kicked off her international “Last Girl On Earth” tour and had to scrap several dates! Why? They are saying that the venues are not selling well, even though she has fake Gaga Kei$ha on the tour with her. Her promoters are sagging that production changes are the real reasons but…eh. Sounds lame. Overall, concert revenue is down in 2010.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

400 pounds of concrete. In a town in South Carolina, there is a man that stands accused of burying his 2 year old son in a trash can embedded in concrete. The father and his girlfriend were arrested for lying and saying that the boy had fallen into a river. A farmer or something somehow found the human remains of the child’s body of Rodricus Williams. Roger Williams and Grace Nichole Trotman are going up s**ts creek over this. The police want to know how the boy was killed but they are saying that he was abused physically.

KANYE WEST ALMOST GOT A LEAK 2 MONTHS AHEAD!

I have been informed that the hackers are gunning for Kanye West in a major way! I don’t know how this dark world works, but some people almost got their hands on Kanye’s album and were going to sell it. Whatever security measures Kanye had worked like a charm. His album is still under lock and key.

This pic has been making the rounds around the net. Some hackers intercepted a email met for somebody named Hype. Nothing big. Until the zip file was opened and the tracklisting contained new Yeezy trax. This is the rumored tracklisting for Kanye’s new album Good Ass Job. Jay-Z Addresses Devil Worship And Illuminati Rumors On Rick Ross Album

(AllHipHop News) In the court of public opinion, many have deemed Jay-Z a

devil-worshipping member of a secret society.

However, the rap mogul defiantly denies the allegations on the

new Rick Ross Teflon Don album on a track called “Free Mason.”According to MTV, the rapper raps:

“N***as couldn’t do nothing with me, they put the devil

on me. I would have preferred n***as squeeze the metal on me/ Rumors of

Lucifer, I don’t know who to trust/ The whole world wants my demise, turn the

music up.”

Additionally, Jay says:

“If y’all n***as fear me, just say y’all fear me. F**k

all these fairy tales/ Go to hell, this is God engineering/ … I said I was

amazing/ Not that I’m a Mason …/ I’m on my third six, but a devil I’m not.

…”

Jay-Z has addressed the accusations in interviews, but never

express the sentiments with such passion.

“Free Mason” appears on Rick Ross’ Teflon Don abum, which is in

stores June 20..

Lil Wayne’s Top 5 Best And Worst Fashion Moments

Lil Wayne is known to blend skate, rock and hip-hop trends into his wardrobe. Sometimes he’s on point, and at other times, not so much. We’ve broken down the five best and worst fashion moments we’ve caught Weezy in—you can let us know if you cosign: THE BEST: 5.  We respect the way Weezy keeps it clean with his clothing here, since his red high-top Converse kicks do all the talking. 4.  Once again, Weezy proves that footwear can make an outfit. The rest is laid back and cool, with dark denim and a grey fitted hoodie. 3. Weezy doesn’t seem to tire of his never-ending collection of Chucks. He nails the skate trend with them, his black dress pants and wallet chain. 2.  The slim khakis, plain black Chucks, black/white graphic tee and fedora work for us. Simple and casual with a little edge. 1.  With all the loud printed gear out there, its always nice to see a graphic-free ensemble. The solid colored purple jacket, plain white tee, raw denim and rugged Timbs combo is fresh. THE WORST: 5. Although Weezy seems to be feeling them in this pic, the oversized shorts are dead wrong. 4. Weezy needs to turn that thumb upside down, because these tighty whities are not working for him. 3. The kicks alone are bold statement makers…no need to throw in the matching bright yellow adidas jacket. 2. Once again…what’s good with the unnecessary matchy-matchy look? 1.  We’ll blame BAPE for this one.

B.o.B and Lupe Fiasco “Tip” on Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope”

Fresh off the heels of receiving the Vanguard Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Janelle Monae has released a new remix video for “Tightrope,” which served as the lead single for The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III). The official “Wondamix” features all-new versus from Janelle Monae, as well as her Atlantic label mates, B.o.B and Lupe Fiasco. Shortly after the video’s release, Clayton Perry managed to catch-up with B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco, in order to comment and reflect on the artistry of Janelle Monae. AllHipHop.com: What do you admire the most about the music and/or character of Janelle Monae? B.o.B: What I admire most about Janelle Monae’s music is the sincerity and uniqueness that she brings to the music. Lupe Fiasco: I admire Janelle Monae’s fearlessness more than anything. The bravery to do things right and with care but at the same time wrapped in style and grace is definitely lacking in today’s popular culture and Janelle Monae possesses it, this bravery, in abundance. AllHipHop.com: What immediate reaction(s) do you have to her recent receipt of ASCAP’s Vanguard Award? Lupe Fiasco: I think its well-deserved and utterly appropriate. B.o.B: [I] feel very proud, proud for music. Proud that she is receiving the credit she deserves. AllHipHop.com: Janelle Monae is… [open-ended question] Lupe Fiasco: Janelle Monae is a rare phenomenon that exudes all those attributes that demand not only respect but reverence as well. An entertainer’s entertainer. B.o.B: Janelle Monae is proof for women that you can make it in the industry if you have good music. AllHipHop.com: Beyond “Tightrope,” what is your favorite track on The ArchAndroid? Why? B.o.B: My favorite track on ArchAndroid is “Cold War.” Shows passion….and I love passion. Gives me chills. Lupe Fiasco: The Intro. Class, Class & Class. In case you missed it, check out Janelle’s incredible performance of “Lets Go Crazy” during the Prince tribute at the BET AWARDS, in addition to her recent June interview feature with AllHipHop.
