DNA Doesn’t Match In DJ Bay Bay Rape Case

DNA results from the two year rape trial of DJ Hollyhood Bay Bay do not match the industry veteran, AllHipHop.com has confirmed.

Hollyhood Bay Bay, real name Terrance Stewart, was arrested in 2007 and charged with one count of rape and intimidation of a witness.

According to prosecutors, the DJ raped a woman who was found drunk and unconscious on the second floor of club Kokopelli’s, located in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The ensuing DNA test used semen retrieved from the alleged victim, and the couch where the crime occurred.

“I believe everything happens for a greater reason and purpose. I was terminated from one station, only to be recruited by the fourth largest black radio station in the country, so there are no hard feelings,” DJ Hollyhood Bay Bay told AllHpHop.com. “I’m just ready to conclude this chapter in my life and get back to what I do, finding the next multiplatinum success story.

Bay Bay previously gained national recognition courtesy of Hurricane Chris’ hit tribute song “Ay Bay Bay,” which was inspired by fans who would chant the DJ’s name at club appearances.

The rape accusation has proved damaging to Hollyhood’s career over the last two years.

The fallout resulted in him being terminated from his position at Shreveport’s 103.5 The Beat, and losing his longtime club MC position at Kokopelli’s.

He later signed on to Dallas’ KKDA 104.5, and maintains a weekly radio slot from 3PM from 7PM.

Despite the serious accusation that has lingered over his head, DJ Hollyhood Bay Bay feels he’s been blessed with a better opportunity in Dallas and is hopeful the charges will soon be dropped.

“This entire situation is unfortunate, but all I can do is continue to live my life until it is over and I am fully cleared of all charges,” added DJ Bay Bay.

Since relocating to Dallas, the DJ assisted rapper Dorrough in closing a deal with E1 Music.

On the community service front, he founded Bay Bay’s Kids, which aims to decrease high school dropout rates through education-focused speaking engagements and camps.

At press time, Caddo Parish District Attorney Brady O’Callaghan has not dropped the rape charges against DJ Hollyhood Bay Bay.

Wednesday Fashion Feature: Get to Know: NY Jets’ James Ihedigbo

Kiki sat down to talk style with NY Jets Safety, James Ihedigbo.Find out about how his style has adapted since entering the NFL, what makes a woman attractive to him, and more.

After a Jets 3-Day Rookie Mini-Camp in 2007, James Ihedigbo’s performance and determination helped land him in the NFL.

The 25 year-old University of Massachusetts graduate currently plays safety for the NY Jets, after being promoted from the practice squad in October 2008.

Previous to his NFL career, James excelled in football through both high school and college in Amherst.

Apart from his passion for the sport, James is focused on helping kids realize their full potential and succeed in life. He has started his own charitible foundation,”Hope Africa”, which focuses on providing opportunities for young Africans to better themselves through education.

His mother and late father each earned a Ph.D from the University of Massachusetts, and went back to Africa to found their own school. After James’ father passed away while he was in high school, James and his entire family have been intent on helping the school succeed.

Check out the interview with Kiki and James Ihedigbo below, and make sure you check out his site, JamesIhedigbo.com, to find out more about the talented player!

AllHipHop.com: So you moved from Amherst, MA to New York about 2.5 years ago. Did your style change as you got settled into the fashion capital of the world?

James: I’ve always been stylish, but yes, it definitely did. I started dressing sharper, tweaked my look a bit. In MA I had more of a laid back preppy/urban look, and now my style is more GQ/urban.

AllHipHop.com: After getting into the NFL, did you find there was more pressure to always be on point when it comes to fashion? How did you deal with that?

James: Yes. I’m always going to different events and making appearances. There’s fans around who want to take pics – I have to make sure my hair’s freshly cut and I’m always on point. In my line of work I’m always in the media’s eye, so different brands have me visiting their showrooms to pick out new clothes all the time.

AllHipHop.com: So do you pick out these clothes yourself, or do you have a stylist?

James: No I don’t have a stylist. I’ve been approached with the idea, but I trust my own style. And yes, I go to the showrooms myself because I am picky about what I wear.

AllHipHop.com: What is your favorite brand?

James: Well I have a few… I like Sean John suits and urban wear. I wear a little Rocawear. I wear a lot of Artful Dodger and Express for men…love that line. I don’t rock a lot of Gucci, but I do like their shoes and shirts.

AllHipHop.com: Do you have a preference between streetwear brands and luxury labels like Gucci?

James: Not really. Whenever I’m in the mood to shop, I go out – and if i like something, I’ll get it. It doesn’t matter what label it is. I’m an “on the spot shopper”, I know if i like something right away.

AllHipHop.com: What’s your favorite look for a night out in a NYC club?

James: A fresh pair of black Creative Recreations, dark blue Artful Dodger jeans or Rock and Republic jeans, a black v-neck tee, and a black Gucci short sleeve button down.

AllHipHop.com: How about when you’re just kicking it in Jersey?

James: I love rocking those vintage looking cartoon tees.. like a tee with an pic of Snoopy. A pair of True Religion jeans and Airforce Ones.

AllHipHop.com: Who do you consider a stylish man?

James: Can I say myself?

AllHipHop.com: (laughs)

James: Jay-Z. I really like his style. He can go from a business look to a street look easily.

AllHipHop.com: What makes a woman stylish in your eyes?

James: The thing about women that makes them sexy is not so much the clothes they’re wearing, its their accessories and nice hair and makeup. If their clothes match their accessories, they look correct. And it’s all about the individual, whether they can pull it off.

AllHipHop.com: Do you prefer seeing girls in urban gear and sneakers, or more dressed up?

James: I see beauty in females no matter what they are wearing, whether its urban clothing or not.

AllHipHop.com: Give our readers a few of your personal style tips.

AllHipHop.com: Make sure you have at least two items you’re wearing match. Not everything has to match though. Always make sure you look sharp – iron your shirts, don’t ever be caught in wrinkly clothes. Make sure your confidence and swagger is on, don’t care about what other people think. As long as you’re confident in how you look and feel good about it, that’s all that matters.

Dead Prez Pt. 2: It’s Bigger Than Hip-Hop

Turn Off The Radio, Vol. 3: Pulse Of The People, is the mixtape that dead prez hopes will stimulate the masses to action on June 23. Mixed by DJ Green Lantern, the effort is laced with features from Chuck D, Bun B, Styles P and the talented new recruit, Johnny Polygon. The listener is in for an audible revolution. This lyrical reformation will feed a ravenous Hip-Hop appetite. Borrowing Afya Ibomu’s idea that “food is consciousness,” Stic.Man expounds on the sentiment, “I would like to paraphrase her quote, music is consciousness.”

This elevated awareness will become more apparent on the third dead prez studio album Information Age that will be release later this year. “We’ll use the chemistry of sound to try to inspire and to share our journey of getting knowledge itself and growing—and everything under the sun. Stic.Man continues, “We created a new sound, a new energy working with a new producer named Dirk Pate out of Denver, CO. He had the sound, he had the bass, he had the futuristic funk that we needed to take our consciousness to the next level.”

As dead prez continues to challenge their skills to perfect their art form by creating mixtapes and albums their sound will continue to evolve. In the conclusion of their interview they show that they’ve been bonded by music but it’s still bigger than Hip-Hop.

AllHipHop.com: Is there a definitive release date for Information Age?

M1: We’re still working on that bad boy, but hopefully this year. Pulse of the People will be out June 23rd which is the album we’re working on with DJ Green Lantern; that’s going to be the prequel. That’ll be another stage in the development of us rounding out the sound of Dead Prez. A lot of our effort, just like the Turn Off The Radio is there to communicate with a whole street movement that’s about disconnecting with the kind of radio that doesn’t reflect what our reality is. The Turn Off The Radio vibe really came as a two-prong approach on getting music out to the street…We’ve upped it to the next level with DJ Green Lantern and came out with a super-powered, on steroids, joint that basically became this new album that we’re about to put out now.

AllHipHop.com: Is there a difference when you’re making a mixtape as opposed to making an album?

DJ Green Lantern: There’s definitely differences; the timeframe is probably the biggest difference. We did Pulse of the People, three or four days. It’s about spitting one song and [voicing your] mind what’s on your heart, and boom, you give it to them. That’s a mixtape; that’s its own energy…

Stic.Man: With an album you have a protracted amount of time to develop a theme, to edit a lot more to just build in a different kind of way—For us they are very much similar because we think conceptually when we do s**t. We like to create with a body of work that’s conceptual and cohesive. So, on some of our mixtapes, it’s gonna sound like an album anyway. That’s what people are going to get on Pulse Of The People.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve both released solo albums, Confidential and Manhood, as a group is it necessary to embrace solo expression?

M1: I’d say definitely… I think there’s an expression that’s unique unto ourselves. I don’t know if everybody wants to hear that s**t; I think it deserves to be expressed. That’s how you need a project like Confidential and mine. Learning from the art of production; because, Stic is a monster producer as well as Green and I’m a producer myself— Then trying to use our voices in the illest way to find what we can contribute to the whole. I think it is important just for the people to grow as artists. We go through the growth stages of refining our talent.

AllHipHop.com: Has dead prez discovered the essential element of what’s needed for a group to stay together and enjoy longevity?

M1: We’re still learning it. But, I can tell you this, when people ask what is it that helps us stick together is that, bigger than Hip-Hop is our slogan, bigger than Hip-Hop is a lifestyle of two Africans who have a common goal. [We’re] bound by political unity, will of action, being in the same boat trying to keep the ship afloat and understanding that we all want peace. At the end of that day, all together, that becomes much bigger than any entertainment or music industry process that we can ever be involved in. So, to me, music is the background, the underlay to what’s really happening and we can continue music for a long time…

AllHipHop.com: Has the recession impacted the way that you fund or donate to any charities/organizations that you’re affiliated with?

M1: To me it’s similar to voting. Every four years you’re supposed to vote for the President…To me that process happens every day. I cast my vote when I wake up in the morning and I decide to turn on the TV, or not to let my children engage in some backward educational process… To me, every vote we make is a strike for or against the system in a particular way. Not only does that influence me in what kind of contribution that I make towards organizations; but, everything is a contribution.

The system is on 24/7 it; it never shuts off. Either we feed it or we go about the business of dismantling it. So, every move that we make hopefully does that and not just one particular chance. Even in this particular time, we understand the recession as over-aching, long-reaching, before it was recognized in the system. We want to be freedom-loving, freedom-fighting people, who will do whatever it takes all the way down to the vote; just to win. So, there’s not one particular day or one particular cause.

AllHipHop.com: In a separate interview I did with DJ Green Lantern he spoke about a project you did with director Rick Cordero; what can you tell me about that?

DJ Green Lantern: It’s a series of songs in one video. It’s a little unorthodox. It’s a video encompassing around four or five songs in it. That’s not going to be edited and whatnot just yet.

M1: The digital aspect of the art is paramount right now because of the age that we live, the information age. The music with the images, or the snipe— the cross-sections of real life is tantamount to us moving forward to making the thing real palpable for the people. At the end of the day that’s why we take this video s**t so serious… That project will come in its time. We’re working on it now, we’re in the middle of it, these images—I think they’re really going to set the tone of the Pulse of The People in the right direction.

AllHipHop.com: What are your thoughts about being environmentally conscious and what green products are you taking advantage of?

M1: I take advantage of Green Lantern’s production. [laughs] I’m just kidding… One of my lines I recently wrote it, you can’t go green without that black and red. The reason why I say that is because it’s going to take power in order for us to really change it. Right now there is a huge—opportunistic green market—which is developing, at the hands of the government, which recognizes it’s a way to offer jobs. Capitalism is ruled by its wallet and its stomach. That’s what moves capitalism and I think that’s the reason why you see this whole green thing happening. I don’t think it’s because of any righteous conclusion that people have come to. I have to be aware of that. I don’t think that Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth was just a coincidence. It was a very convenient truth for government…

But, I think a lot of it is about changing our minds, not just by changing a light bulb. We need to change our minds…We have to be conscious about the fact that we’re going to be living here… So, we can’t clutter this place with things that won’t be biodegradable or things that will be toxic to our environment… We plan to package our albums in recycled paper and recycled materials. Even with this given age it helps us going green because there’s less of a waste factor in the whole thing. I think on the basic level that’s where that is.

AllHipHop.com: Is there anything else that you’d like to elaborate on?

DJ Green Lantern: Pulse of The People, on June 23 it comes out— It’s going to be released and heavily marketed online, so all your online stores… It’s definitely going to be a physical presence. If you’re a dead prez fan like I’m a dead prez fan and you’ve been waiting for years for these guys to come back together and put their minds together and go in that studio and make some crazy ass music, now is the time, it’s coming out on June 23rd. Cop that! That’s what I got to say. Invasion!

M1: I’d like to say thank you, to AllHipHop, for wanting to hear what we got to say and wanting to print our words and let the world know.

The X Fact(her) – Don’t Tell Me What To Do With My Womb!

You might not know who Dr.

George Tiller is or understand why he was gunned down in church as he

served as an usher. You probably didn’t know that Dr. Tiller survived a previous assassination attempt over a decade ago and that various anti-abortion

organizations dubbed him a mass-murder and a baby killer.

Dr. George Tiller’s Wichita

practice was the site for daily protesters, who objected to Tiller’s

administering late-term abortions. His death by the hands of a rabid pro-life

supporter may have ended Tiller’s life but won’t do much in stopping women from

terminating their pregnancy. Which raises the question: Why attack a doctor who

is offering a service that women are demanding?

It’s estimated that 3,700 illegal

abortions are performed each day. That comes to about 1.37 million a year. Abortion was criminalized throughout the U.S.

between the late 1800s and 1973. But during that time, millions of women sought

and obtained abortions anyway. These “back alley” abortions were performed on

kitchen tables, back rooms, using coat hangers and no medicine to numb the

pain. Thousands of women lost their lives as the result of botched abortions or

infections caused by the amateur procedures.

We all know at least one woman

who has had an abortion, imagine her dying because she had to seek the services

of an unprofessional? Are we really trying to go back to those times?

It’s no secret, we live in a

hypocritical society. A society that is outraged by murder as along as the

victim isn’t someone we hate. We want to tell others what to do but don’t want

any restrictions placed on ourselves. Too often we forget that America

is a free country. Free meaning not imprisoned or enslaved; being at liberty.

Free meaning not controlled by obligation or the will of another.

In 1973 the Supreme Court ruled

on Roe v. Wade, making it legal

for a woman to abort her pregnancy for any reason, up until the

“point at which the fetus becomes viable.” Finally, women had the

freedom to decide what was best for their bodies.

For so long men who dominated

politics were left in charge to decide what was best for women and some

politicians are still trying implement laws regarding a woman’s right to

choose. Today, some of the most vocal anti-abortion supporters are men—Bill

O’Reilly, anti-abortion activist Randall Terry, director of the National Right

to Life Committee David N. O’Steen to name a few.  You don’t see women telling the government to

enforce vasectomies for men. Lord knows this man needs one:

VIDEO:

Instead of feuding pro-life vs.

pro-choice, why aren’t folks demanding that the government make condoms or the

birth control pill free? Why aren’t people protesting outside of the chain drug

stores that lock

up condoms and force already embarrassed customers to ask for assistance?

(Have you noticed that this often happens in the hood?)

Before we get to abortion, there

are many safe sex options that should be promoted and de-stigmatized. For

example, there are still some women who are too embarrassed to demand a partner

use a condom. Some people truly can’t afford condoms or medical insurance to

cover the cost of birth control.

As a woman, no as independent

thinking human being, I want to exercise full control over my body. If the

government can’t tell me what faith to practice, job to have, where to live,

what to eat, why should they or anyone else holding a protest sign be allowed

to dictate what is right for my womb?

Case: Return of the Mack

R&B balladeer Case has had a

tumultuous love affair with life and music. The singer who brought soul to the

New Jack sound of the ‘90s with hits including “Happily Ever After” “Touch Me

Tease Me” and “Faded Pictures” endured several hardships following his

unprecedented success. Rebounding from two near death experiences, a fight to

get released from his Def Jam home, and of course failed relationships, Case

has chronicled his ride in his latest effort The Rose Experience. We sat down with Case to discuss his recent

project, the success of his homecoming single “Lovely”, his alter ego Blaxl

Rose, and what it means to fight the good fight and still bounce back singing.

AllHipHop.com Alternatives: The album sounds like the classic Case that we’ve

come to know and love, was this album more introspective for you?

Case: Yes, definitely it was very personal.

AHHA: Where does the title The Rose Experience come from?

Case: Basically, I have this alter ego named Blaxl Rose, he’s the Black Axl

Rose [of Guns N Roses] so a lot of the stuff on the album is stuff that Blaxl

Rose went through more so than myself. So I just wanted to have some fun with

the music and make it sound a little lighter than it did in the past but that’s

who Blaxl Rose is. He’s fun and a little wild and that’s what I wanted to do

with the music.

AHHA: So he’s the wild one and you’re not?

Case: I mean, I can be, but I’m not him.

AHHA: How do you separate the two? When does Blaxl take over?

Case: You never know, but one time you definitely know it’s gonna be him is

when it’s time to hit the stage. See I might go to a party and just sit there

and have a drink but Blaxl will jump up on the table and drink out of the

bottle.

AHHA: Ok, so you’ve been gone for a long time, why did you take such a long

break? Was it personal or the climate of the industry?

Case: Actually all of it was personal. After the last album I wanted to move

and be closer to my kids for one, and then when I got there I had an accident

and accidentally shot myself in the throat.

AHHA: How do you accidentally shoot yourself in the throat?

Case: Not paying attention for one, I was moving the gun and it had a hair

trigger and it went off.

AHHA: Wow, and your throat of all places how crazy is that?

Case: Yeah out of everywhere the bullet could’ve gone right?

AHHA: With where you were in your life at the time, was the near death

experience any type of awakening for you? Did it change how you approached

life?

Case: Only to the extent of realizing how quickly everything could be taken

away, which kinda contributed to me wanting to have a little more fun with the

music. So once I got through that situation, I started to put the music

together for the new album then I had the motorcycle accident.

AHHA: You’re kinda accident prone aren’t you?

Case: Actually it was the misadventures of Blaxl Rose [laughs] but anyways,

so once I made it through that I decided to leave Def Jam and that took about a

year to go back and forth with all the lawyers and everything because they

didn’t want to let me out of my contract. Basically the biggest thing for them

was I was the last artist that Russell personally signed to Def Jam.

AHHA: Why did you want to leave?

Case: ‘Cause I got tired of the fact that I have a song

that I wanted to be the single and I knew in my heart that the song should be

the single, but rather than put it out I have to listen to 20 people tell me

why it shouldn’t be and they go with something else and three or four months

down the line when the one I chose in the first place does what it’s supposed

to do then they’re like, “Oh you were right.” Those conversations had to

change.

AHHA: You’ve been so committed to staying true to who you are as an artist,

how do you manage to stay relevant and stay true to who you are?

Case: I never believed in changing with the times, even before I got a deal,

I always believed in being true to oneself – that’s the problem with a

lot of artists now, they’re to busy trying do what they think people want to

hear – but my thing is real honest music is never gonna be irrelevant

that’s why I never tried to follow the times.

AHHA: How did your label Indigo Blue come to be?

Case: After I left the label I was trying to decide if I wanted to go with

another label or if I wanted to do my own thing, so we took a few meetings with

some other labels and then we just decided why at this point we don’t need

them. So me and my manager Blue Williams just decided, “Let’s do our own thing

that way we wont have the problems we had with Def Jam.” It’s what I want to make,

how I want to make it so let’s do it that way.

AHHA: The single seems to be doing well and women always love your ballads.

Would you say you’re a romantic guy?

Case: Nah, I wouldn’t say I’m so much of a romantic, it’s just I can really

get into the whole art of singing or a ballad more than an up-tempo song.

AHHA: Ok I always ask my Facebook family to ask questions, so the people

have some questions for you. Are you ready?

Case: Ok shoot…

AHHA: Well you already answered the Def Jam question, but what really went

down with you and Mary J. Blige and Foxy Brown?

Case: What went down? With me and Mary we just broke up…but Foxy? Who said

anything happened with Foxy?

AHHA: I don’t know, I thought they had some info that I

didn’t know, but what happened with Mary, did you cheat?

Case: Umm I don’t remember I’m gonna take the 5th

on that one [laughs].

AHHA: That’s funny, it doesn’t matter now, she’s married but you still gonna

take it to the grave huh?

Case: Who says she didn’t cheat? Ah never thought of that huh? But I don’t

remember if I did; it doesn’t sound like something I’d do.

AHHA: Oh yea? What about Blaxl Rose?

Case: Oh he might have but he wasn’t really around back

then.

AHHA: Hmm ok I’ll let you off the hook on that one. What’s your favorite

Case song?

Case: “A Song For Skye” – a song I wrote about my daughter on the new

album.

AHHA: What do you think of the climate of today’s R&B?

Case: Some of it is cool. I think the one thing that I don’t like is how

everybody is chasing behind what the next man is doing and the only person who

loses out when you do that is the listener. But there are some out there that’s

turning it around and I’m trying to do that with my music.

AHHA: Who do you listen to?

Case: Oh Jazmine Sullivan all day.

AHHA: What do you want people to take away from The Rose Experience?

Case: It’s definitely just me peeling back another layer of who I am. I’m more

than the music I did before; It’s me on a deeper level. I am a lot more

complex.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Drake Finds A Label?! Cassidy & Kanye’s Ex? Dipset’s Reunion – ON!?!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

DRAKE’S GOING TO ATLANTIC!!!!!

Well, well all know that Universal and Atlantic Records have been in a bidding war for the artist known as Drake. Well, I have news for you…or a rumor rather. From what I understand Drake is now listed as getting down with Atlantic Records. I can’t reveal how I obtained this information, because it will compromise my source. Nevertheless, I am here to let you fiends know that Drake is reportedly looking for beats for his upcoming album and he is already working with artists like Jay-Z. I also heard that he is at the top of the list on their releases. I am not sure how exactly…perhaps it’s alphabetical order or something. Drake was listed as a release on ATF Records/Atlantic Records, but had no planned release. Also in Rumor Land, Drake officially started on his album as of June 1. By the way, ATF stands for All Things Fresh. There are a couple other ATF Records out there.

EMINEM AIN’T TALKING!

All the paps keep asking Eminem about the damn Bruno butt, but Eminem isn’t talking. I’ve seen a number of videos that show the Shady rapper making some moves. People are even saying that Nick Cannon might have done this, but one of the MTV Awards’ writers said that it was a total gag.

Actress Taraji P. Henson dropped a dime to USA Today about the Eminem stunt.

“That was staged! Do you really think it wasn’t? They would not put a man’s naked a** in Eminem’s face and not let him know. Come on! They’re not stupid. When something crazy didn’t jump off, I was like, ‘Oh, OK! He knew!’ “

Jay Z and Eminem were in LA and it was a party for Activision who publishes Guitar Hero. They are now crafting DJ Hero which Em and Jay are reported to be working together on it. I know people got the invites, and one person gave me some insight. It was reportedly at the Wiltern Theater in LA. Jay-Z got on stage first, Em followed. DJ AM was on the 1’s and 2’s and so was Z-Trip. Eminem made no mention of the MTV stuff so he’s probably not that mad. I was told it was a dope show that lasted about 110 mins. I lost for not being in L.A. for it.

CASSIDY CONFIRMS AMBER ROSE FLING?

Shout out to Shorty Buster for sending this to me. Looks like Cassidy found his way back into the game! He’s done a remix of “Ego” and he basically says – without saying – that he bedded Kanye’s Rose.

“I f*cked ya girl on D-low, cause I’m that ***** and I got a bigger ego. For free yo, I let her climb on the tree yo. now she with me yo, so adios amigo. No you ain’t big as me yo. So when I hit , she said my d*ck too big, fat, wide, and thick. What I was born with is enormous, when I try to fit, she holler like ‘you got a big ego, AGH S###!’ And that’s why she on my d*ck, cause I got a huge ego, I’m a hero. I save the day, it’s L-O-V-E yo, she never felt that way ’till she started f###### with me yo. I took her from you like D-bo, ’cause your ass always had her going to bed mad like Ne-Yo”.”

REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOOOOOOOD! PAUSE!

OH SNAP! Its going down! Well, the rumors are back. I am hearing, once again, that Dipset is going to re-unite at the Summer Jam Event. I just got word from somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody. They are saying that this reunion is chiefly centered around Jim Jones and Cam’ron, but will likely include Juelz and others. From what I was told, Jim and Cam’ron don’t really have any sort of serious beef anyway. Remember how Cam said he and Jim talked on the phone? They’ve been talking, but they haven’t been working together. This is good, if it turns out to be true.

MONICA RETURNS!

I scooped this from Tiffany Long of Atlanta Gossip. R&B songstress Monica is preparing to release her highly anticipated fifth album, Still Standing, this November. The album will coincide with her reality show of the same title that will be airing on BET. The show is set to document the recording process of the new album. Here we have two newly leaked snippets. The first snippet “Betcha She Don’t Love You” is an 80s inspired mid-tempo produced by Missy Elliott. The other, “Stay or Go” gives us classic Monica vocals with production from Ne-Yo. It’s a really nice, straight-up R&B joint.

Take a listen to the snippets below and let me know what you think!

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

So, I am hearing that Snoop may have been involved in some sort of altercation in Long Beach. Did you hear that?

Rumor has it Rihanna has a number of nude pix of Chris Brown. Don’t do that, Ma. Please. Spectacular might have a dance off with a chair again.

DJ AM is going to write his life story in a book that is on the way – at some point in the future.

Darius McCrary aka Eddie Winslow aka the husband of Superhead is now a singer!

There are still rumors that Lil Kim might be stepping in LeftEye’s slot in TLC! I just don’t know!

I heard 50 Cent is doing a mixtape that will be released this month and the album after that.

RANDOM QUOTES AND KANYE DONE LOST IT!

I couldn’t believe when I saw Kanye West said the following to MTV:

“I kill that rap sh–, that’s what I do. Lyrics right now, they’re awes-mazing. They’re basically untouchable. I’m about to take it to a whole ‘nother level. I’d be scared if I was not me. As far as rapping goes, how can I say this? Jordan, Michael Jackson — it’s what I do.”

CHAMILLIONAIRE’S END?!

I got this from a reader and couldn’t make heads or tails of it!

I don’t know what Chamillionaire is planning but I’m confused. I’ve heard rumors that his much hyped Venom album is not going to come out at all now. His website used to be a nice official looking site with videos and where you could buy mixtapes and clothing and stuff. I went there yesterday and it all it says right now is “The End Is Near… 6-3-09 @ 9pm EST only on http://www.chamillionaire.com/.” Weird stuff. I know I’ll be on there at that time tomorrow to see what’s up.

DAME DASH GOES UNDER THE BUS!

I can’t help but feel sorry for Dame Dash! I’m sorry! Shoot me! I know he was a mean person, but I just have to say that. Anyway, Fabolous did a great impersonation of Dame at Dame’s expense. Check it out right here!

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

The home of the Wu Tang Clan…Staten Island. 8th grade student Dennis Reynolds came to Barnes Intermediate School with half his head shaved. There is no code or regulation about coming to school with half of your hair cut off. IF he came to school half dressed that would have been a different story. But according to reports, the kids said, “The assistant principal told me my hair cut wasn’t good enough.” They basically sent him home for the same reason I would have: to tell his damn MAMA “don’t let this boy come to school looking all crazy again!” I decided to join him with Half-A-Fro, as you can see above.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY 2

Just so you know, at an average Subway, the employees have knives like 6-10 inches long. Check out this report:

BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder police are searching for a man who tried to a rob a Subway sandwich shop but failed to take any money Tuesday afternoon.

The attempted robbery happened at about 2:55 p.m. at 4550 Broadway in north Boulder. According to witnesses, the man walked into the store with a three-inch knife and demanded money. But before he could get any cash, he fled on foot or on a bicycle, according to police.

The suspect was described as 5-foot-9 with a medium build. He was also wearing a black mask with several white skulls arranged in a pattern on the mask. He was wearing a blue or gray hooded sweatshirt with jeans, police said.

No one was injured in the robbery attempt, and police have set up a perimeter near the store to search for the man.

AHH Stray News: Flesh, Eminem, Suge, Kid Cudi/Asher Roth

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Flesh-N-Bone was released from prison today (May 2), after prosecutors dropped a gun and drug charge. Flesh was arrested in Santa Clarita, California on April 2, after police stopped his vehicle for a faulty tail late. Because of his parole status, police searched his home and uncovered a gun locked in a suit case in closet, as well as a small amount of marijuana. Prosecutors had dropped the case a few weeks later, after realizing that the gun belong to Flesh’s wife, an inactive member of the Chicago Police Department. As for the marijuana, lawyers for the rapper proved he had a prescription for the drugs.

The entire Eminem debacle with Sacha Baron Cohen was allegedly scripted, including Cohen’s bare-bottom, crash landing into the chart-topping rapper’s face. MTV Movie Awards’ head writer Scott Aukerman revealed in a blog post that the entire scene was scripted and rehearsed. “Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk about, so let’s get it out of the way,” Auckerman wrote on his Tumblr blog. “They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then. Okay, you can stop reading this blog now!” Interestingly, the post can no longer be found on Auckerman’s blog. As for Eminem, the rapper has yet to make a statement about the incident. Eminem’s representative, Dennis Dennehy also refused to comment when contacted by AllHipHop.com.

Former Death Row CEO Suge Knight was issued a cease and desist letter over the name of his fledgling new label, Blackball Records. Although Knight has been using the name since last year, the owners of a company named Black Ball Records claim Suge’s similar name infringes on their brand. Both sides have been unable to reach an agreement, and will bring the issue before the trademark office. Knight claims to have filed a copyright in 2006, while the other Black Ball owners state their filing was done in 2002.

Rookie sensations and Universal Motown label mates Kid Cudi and Asher Roth have teamed up to headline their first summer concert series, dubbed “The Great Hangover Tour.” Spanning 19 cities, the cross-country tour will feature supporting performances from B.O.B. on all the dates. Pac D## will be featured at 11 locations, with Kanye West affiliate 88 Keys coming on for the final 8 shows. The cities confirmed for the tour include Atlanta, Boston, New York, Cleveland, Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston. The tour kicks off July 14 in Boston.

Jay-Z, Em, Consult For ‘DJ Hero’; Greatest Hits Coming

A star-studded crowd in Los Angeles was treated to performances by Jay-Z, Eminem, Travis Barker and DJ AM Monday night (June 2) in celebration of ActiVision’s new game, DJ Hero.

The game is the latest installment of the $2 billion Guitar Hero franchise, set to be released in the Fall for PlayStation 3, PS2, and Xbox 360.

In its standard version, the game is played with a turntable-shaped controller instead of the guitar or drumkit provided with other versions.

Equipped with a spinning record plate, sampling buttons, a cross fader and an sound effects nob, the controller allows players to score points by matching song tracks, creating special effects and adding their own personal touches to the music.

The game includes music from various genres, including Hip-Hop, R&B, electronica, and rock, with music by 50 Cent, Beastie Boys, KRS-One, N.E.R.D., Gorillaz, Blondie and David Bowie.

On Friday (May 29), Guitar Hero announced that Jay-Z and Eminem would be bringing their music and experience to the new game, thus their inclusion in Monday night’s celebration.

In addition to serving as consultants to Activision and FreeStyleGames, who developed DJ Hero, both Jay and Em are working on new greatest-hits CDs, to be included in a special edition of the game.

Jay-Z has revealed that his contributions will include “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” and tracks from the forthcoming Blueprint 3.

“I have a ton of content, I just need the pipeline,” he told USA Today. “I love the freedom of [DJ Hero]. I could wake up tomorrow morning with the idea for a song and call the guys at Activision and start working on getting it out.”

Eminem wasn’t as forthcoming with what he’d bring to the table, saying that DJ Hero will include his music and additional downloadable content to be released by the end of the year.

Despite his shyness in interview, the Detroit rapper gave his all during a 30-minute set at The Wiltern Theater, he bounced through a set made up mostly of tracks from his latest album Relapse, before closing out with “Lose Yourself.”

Prior to launching into the set, Eminem invited Jay-Z back on stage to perform “Renegade,” their critically acclaimed collaboration from Jay-Z’s Black Album.

Prior to making way for the Eminem Show, Jay-Z, accompanied by a live band, performed a series of hit singles including “Izzo,” “99 Problems,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” and “Encore.”

The highlight of his performance, however, was his rendition of the “My President is Black” remix.

Despite the absence of Nas and Jeezy, Jay shared the stage with President Obama and Martin Luther King, Jr., as a montage of photos of both men and Election Day headlines ran in the background.

The A-List crowd in attendance included Hollywood celebs from Leonardo DiCaprio and Ryan Phillipe to Entourage stars Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven and Kevin Connolly to celebutante Kim Kardashian.

Also present were plenty of stars from the music world, including Nipsey Hussle, Christina Aguilera, Pete and Ashley Simpson-Wentz, and Warren G, who treated the crowd to an impromptu performance of “Regulators.”

And though Jay-Z did not hit the stage until right before Midnight, the crowd was more than adequately entertained.

Following an audio/visual performance by TRV$DJ-AM, DJ AM took the stage alone for a 30-45 minute set, demonstrating exactly why he was one of the DJs chosen to help create and mix DJ Hero.

Skills aside, AM shared a more personal reason for being involved: his hope that it gives fans a new appreciation for the art of turntablism.

“There are so many lame [people] popping up with an iPod and a playlist calling themselves DJs when they’re just a jukebox,” the celebrity DJ said Monday. “This game is incredibly realistic and you realize what it takes to mix two songs together. You actually have to do the work.”

At press time, ActiVision has not yet revealed a price point or rating for the new DJ Hero.video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player
