Tia Kemp Blasts Rick Ross, Speaks on New Book

Rick Ross may be celebrated for recently topping the Billboard album chart, but the rapper’s demeanor and image away from the mic has become fodder for a newly released book from one of the mothers of his children.

The page-turner, titled Tia’s Diary: Deeper Than Rap, chronicles Tiallondra Kemp’s life as well as her relationship with Ross.

Kemp’s foray into literature came via the Miami-based rapper’s rival, 50 Cent, an ally who opened a door that would have remained closed had she remained with Ross.

“50 reached out to my attorney. I told him that I wanted to do a book and he made it happen,” Kemp shared with AllHipHop.com. “He got me my publishing deal and everything. He really helped me a lot. Rick Ross would’ve never gave me this opportunity.”

For Tia’s Diary, Kemp revealed that Ross was less than an ideal person outside the world of music as she came to realize.

“I think that everybody know that he’s a fake and he’s a fraud and I think it’s a lot of things that’s in the book that would explain why he’s that type of person, you know,” Kemp said. “He was an abusive person, you know. And he’s a deadbeat dad. He’s battered his first baby mama and the only things that he’s done is put his hands on women…he’s never been arrested but for battery for on his baby mom. Right now, he has an open case for carrying a concealed firearm, but the firearm was registered to him. And the reason he caught the charge is because his concealed weapon license was revoked for the battery he had against his first baby mom.”

The release of Tia’s Diary comes after Ross sat atop the Billboard 200 chart after selling 158,000 copies of his latest album, also titled Deeper Than Rap, in its first week of release last month.

Ross’ former girlfriend commented on the rapper’s neglect of their child and went as far as labeling the rapper as “not a good father.”

“I wouldn’t consider him as a great father. I’m quite sure he loves his son, but he’s not supporting his son. He’s not in his son’s life. And that’s what it’s about,” she said. “You know, it’s not about money. It’s about being there for your child, you know, and showing them love.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Drake: “I Love You Rihanna,” Charles Hamilton and Girl Make Up, Chris Brown’s Black Eye!

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on. THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I am here on this Memorial Day to say….I wasn’t gonna show up until Tues, but I figured I could just give you a lil update until the next update. First of all, I wanted to give a shout out to all the military and service men and women out there on this day. I’ve been vocal about the wars in recent years, but I have nothing but love for the bravery most of you all have. With that said…LETS GO..to a BBQ!

CHARLES HAMILTON AND HIS GIRL SAY “SHORRY”

I’m not sure what they are to each other (they she’s his girlfriend), but here is the interesting thing. The girl Brianna once said she was p##### as CH for letting him use her for publicity, but she was party to this on her own. Also, did you know that this is Mary J. Blige’s step daughter? Interesting.

Here is the video:

Tell me she didn’t look like she was about to clock him again! She’s like an overnight celebrity. I have to say that CH deserves a bit of props for keeping his composure.

DRAKE LOVES RIHANNA?

This Drake dude. I hope the game doesn’t mess him up too fast. On this video, he’s seen telling Rihanna, “I love you.” Now, I know love is scare in the music game, but this seems very well timed. By the same token, there are real reports of them all kissy-faced in NYC. So, there you have it. Drake, the media manipulator or Drake, RiRi’s new boo boo. You be the judge.

RIHANNA’S FAKE ROMANCES?

Not sure. I got these two rumors on separate occasions from separate sources. I am hearing that Rihanna’s PR masters are orchestrating a bunch of romances to get her effectively separated from the sullied image of Chris Brown. Here have been images of her ex boyfriend in Barbados, and then hooper Andrew Bynum and I think another one too. And then there’s Drake. As seen above, Drake is either in on the gag, really “loves” RiRi or is clueless. Obviously, Drake has denied any romance, but isn’t that what you do when you want to fuel rumors about it? Deny with a chuckle and a wink-wink? On the low, they are saying that she’s still in love with Chris but its actually a bad look for her career. OH WELL.

ALFAMEGA’S MANAGER SPEAKS

I don’t know if you read it, but Alfamega’s manager recently went on record about the artist. There were some interesting things here. 1) They noted that the informant part came out AFTER ‘Mega’s situation with the cops. What this leads me to believe is somebody had cause to “destroy” Alfamega, because he now has a police brutality case against him. 2) T.I. kicked him out without talking to him and while Alfamega was in a hospital bed. Alfamega claims the police pushed him off something about 25-30 feet high. Remember, I was like the FIRST person to report this rumor. I thought it happened after T.I. booted him though. Right now, ‘Mega had surgery and cannot walk with injuries to both legs.

Here is the link to the new interview and here are some highlights.

“I just feel like people should have more compassion for what Alfa is going through as a human being first and foremost. At this point, Alfa has been a victim of police brutality and social injustice. People should really try to put themselves in his shoes right now. There’s certain things that we shouldn’t allow in our community, and police brutality is one of them.”

“All the things he’s going through right now is real. Music is an expression of life and I think that he’ll get his just due as far expelling the feelings that he’s having right now through music. But right now, it’s something that he has to endure, unfortunately. And it’s involving a lot of pain. So you can imagine being in excruciating pain on a day to day basis: the last thing on your mind, or anybody else’s, would be music.”

MARIAH CAREY HAS ICE!

Mariah Carey sang at the launch of the Mardan Palace in Turkey. I’m still looking for Nick Cannon’s diss of Eminem. Mariah’s wasn’t too shabby the other day.

Speaking of Nick, he’s opted out of any quarrel with Eminem. I was looking forward to this culture clash of titans! Here’s what Nick said to Entertainment Weekly: “I never even considered it as beef. It’s not beef. It’s just, Hey, I heard the record. I said what I had to say. I feel exactly the same way by it and stick by everything, but I think it’s one of those things where it becomes that it’s not really that big of a deal, you know?”

THE NAVAL ACADEMY GRADUATES AND OBAMA

These kids are hype to meet Obama. I have to admit, I would be too.

John and Cindy McCain had a son graduate from there. (seen above)

BET BAGS SOULJA BOY!

BET played a pretty cool trick on Soulja Boy. They booked and confirmed the rapper to perform on their Awards Show this year by way of twitter. There are so many fake accounts that I heard Soul Man thought it might be a joke. Anyway, you will see later in the rumors about others in the show. Soulja Boy is supposed to be on “The View” Monday? WEIRD.

Does Chris Brown have a black eye and who gave it to him?

They are reportedly going hard with “Ghostbusters 3.”

Eminem is going to show up at the BET and MTV awards this year with a performance.

CHRIS BROWN, DON’T DO IT!

This is coming from inside the Chris Brown camp – no names. But, I am hearing there is a Rihanna sex tape…kinda. It is my understanding that there was a video taken by why of a mobile phone, possibly an iphone. From what I understand, Chris is not in there, but a there is a naked Rihanna talking very naughty on the footage. I was told that the quality is poor, but you can identify it as Rihanna and she is nude or semi-nude. I will say that this sourced didn’t indicate of there was any intention of releasing such a video…only that they saw some of it. I will get a copy, so they say, if it does come out. We’ll see! Glad there’s not Brownie in that piece. Don’t need that in my life.

JEEZ – SOME BAD NEWS

Last night, Young Dro was schedule to perform in Pensacola, Fl and he cancelled the show because his sister died, I am hearing. Nobody is able to tell me how how she died yet. From what I understand, Fantasia confirmed this bad news when she performed in Dothan, AL last night. She dedicated the song “Purple Rain” to Young Dro and cried while she sang the song. She didn’t say Young Dro, but she just said “I want to sing this song for a young man I know that lost his sister today…” R.I.P To Sister Dro.

BEEF WITH DJ KHALED AND TERROR SQUAD?

Terror Squad is one serious crew. Here is what Fat Joe’s homey Pistol Pete is saying about DJ Khaled.

“He’s another one that don’t do s**t for us. Khaled’s another one that’s supposed to be on blast. He gonna give up that Terror Squad chain when I see him. He don’t do a m#### f**kin’ thing for the squad. He thinks its about him ‘He’s the beeeessssss.’ He’s moved on. He don’t even where the TS chain no more. He don’t represent TS like I do.”

One Word: Trouble.

WHEN ONE PLUS ONE = ZERO

I know that you learned a lot in school, but the math on this Charles Hamilton stuff makes perfect sense. For him…

1 + 1 = ZERO

Do you remember that I posted his Facebook status and he said something about the two blue lines and I had NO CLUE? Well, I don’t have kids, but it means that a girl getting a positive on the pregnancy test. Wellllll…fast forward a few weeks and here we are, seeing Charlie Hammy getting hammered by a right jab to the left cheek. If you listen to the girl’s rap/song poem, she’s saying we used to have sex, but I am finished with you. Then, CH suggests super strongly that she he hit it and there’s an abortion line. At that point, she chin checks dude and he gets whoozy.

On April 29th, CH said, “Two humble blue lines may have changed my life. Forever. Stay tuned (s### is wack/dope… lol)”

Clearly, the girl in the vid is the girl of note in the Facebook status. I mean, nothing is official but…it makes sense. 1 + 1 = ZERO. Wow…abortion is a crazy thing indeed.

Here is what CH said on his blog:

So I’ma do it like this… my chain didn’t get snatched, I’m not a cop, and I never talked about pimpin b######. In fact, I’m a “loser”.

How far off is the video from who I really am? A rappin “big mouth” who crosses the line and respects women at all costs. Fail?

CHARLES HAMILTON’S BULLY SPEAKS!

Charles’ assistant Briana aka Female Deebo has apologized to C. Hammy for clocking him in the jaw. This is what she had to say. She did say she’d clock him again if it happened all over…does that mean the sorry counts? I guess she’d just be saying sorry again.

We seriously have a sick, dysfunctional, high school relationship. But… It is what it is. Like I said earlier: I DID NOT MEAN TO DECK HIM. I was holding it back but the more I thought about what he said the more I wanted to hit him. Sorry Grandma. I felt justified, but the more I think about it now, it is an unfair situation for him: I’m a female so he can’t hit me back with out a bunch of ppl talkn crap, and he still gets talked about if he doesn’t hit me. We ALL know that if a woman feels she’s man enough to hit a man, she’s probably man enough to take a punch. I’m not sayin thats right eithe-

Matter of fact, let’s say this:

Even tho it was a “rap battle” and that’s the only reason he was going so hard…

I would do it again in a heart beat. Somebody’s gotta shut the kid up sometime!!! But I got love for him tho.

Lol

We are a sad, sad story. We just cross lines.

~RoKKi~

MARIO WINANS STINKS

I don’t know if he actually stinks, but somebody told me a recent performance sure had an odd scent, metaphorically speaking.

Listen there was a big hype leading into Mario Winan performing at a club in Boston last night, Mario was even on the radio earlier that morning talking about the event. I don’t know what happen, but when I got to the club is was dead as an 80-year-old penis. It got so bad that they had to move the 60 or less people that attended the event over to the club next door and we get there all they playing is Techno and all this other b####### that was irrelevant to Mario’s event. Point of the story is that homeboy is washed up it was a big disappointment. The only good that came out was the DJ that was spinning that night. Shout out to DJ Jaz the boy got talent.

J-HUD SADDENS FANS

J-Hud and Robin Thicke did a recent show and one fan was disappointed.

What’s up Illseed,

I went to the JHud & Robin Thicke concert last night in Dallas. I must say it was rather disappointing. I couldn’t believe I missed the game for it. Robin Thicke did a set of about 120 minutes, but Jennifer Hudson did only 40 minutes. The crowd was upset, considering that she was the person that most of them came to see. She originally canceled the concert two weeks ago, but I guess she had to fulfill her contract obligation. Anyway, she definitely looked preggers, and she sat down on the stairs the majority of her set. She often asked the crowd to sing the words to the song (remember she was up there 40 mins), and she even gave a mic to women in the audience to help with the song. It was a great travesty to watch the butchering of a show. I’m glad I didn’t pay for the tickets. The show was so bad that I would waste your money to go to her next show.

Peace & Love, (P.S. I did my own spell check)

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Shout out to Chance from Crack Distributors Radio!

I heard Madlib and Pacewon doing an album like Madvillain style!

I also heard Guru signed with a small label in Japan so good for him. He might wanna leave loose-lips Solar in the US.

I do believe that Talib Kweli has signed Evidence to his Blacksmith imprint.

I’m hearing that Lupe Fiasco is recording his album in L.A. and that he’s been working on songs with The Neptunes.

OH YEA…that wedding story yesterday was an urban legend and not true. Oh well…

Gabrielle Union has denied all the charges levied against her in an anonymous letter from an athletes wife. These damn people are so hateful on my girl…shame.

THE R.E.D. ALBUM by The Game is slated for a winter release, I am hearing.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING AND AN END

I got this from the Associated Press.

Two fathers in their 20’s have been accused of drag racing on a New York City highway while their very young children sat in the back. Westchester County police said the Bronx residents were seen weaving their cars through traffic at speeds of up to 80 miles-an-hour on the Bronx River Parkway Wednesday night.

The mothers of the kids and the children were in the cars too. The kids were infants up to 6 years old. In NYC, moving at 80 is pretty fast…we’re not talking I-95 here. Anyway, the dudes were charged with illegal speed contest, reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a child, and got tickets for speeding, unsafe lane change, following too closely and seat belt infractions. They went to jail, but are out now. The kids weren’t hurt.

DOLLA’S BROTHER SPEAKS!

We gotta stop the madness yall. Tell your wild homies to chill. On the real side, I used to put my damn life in jeopardy stopping Black on Black crimes. I am SURE somebody is going to call me a racist for that, but check the stats and holla back. STOP THE VIOLENCE!

Charles Hamilton, Girlfriend Apologize for Violent Battle

Charles Hamilton and girlfriend Briana Latrise have issued a joint public apology for last week’s emcee battle that resulted in Latrise punching the Harlem rapper in the face.

In a viral clip released last week, Charles Hamilton was shown taunting a visibly agitated Latrise about having to pick him up from the airport.

Briana Latrise then challenged her boyfriend to a battle, launching several bars that seemed to allude to her volatile relationship with Hamilton.

The Harlemite responded with a rhyme that boasted about unprotected sex with Latrise that resulted in an alleged abortion.

These words caused her to cut Hamilton off mid-rhyme with a sneaky, thudding straight right to the jaw.

Subsequently, the clip received massive attention and debate amongst fans about whether it was publicity stunt.

Recently, both Hamilton and Latrise returned to camera to clarify their current status.

“Apparently people got it twisted,” Hamilton stated after hugging his woman. “I apologize honestly for putting some things out there that shouldn’t have been out there. I understand it; it was the heat of the moment and I didn’t get the chance to really talk to you about it. I just wanted to tell you I apologize because I know what I shouldn’t have said.”

Latrise acknowledged her role in the incident, and accepted Hamilton’s response while promising to keep their relationship issues a private matter.

“I’m going to thank you for your apology. I’m going to apologize for acting outside of the norm,” Latrise explained. “We’re going to talk about our personal business, on our personal time.”

Charles Hamilton has kept a busy schedule this year, releasing several mixtapes: Well Isn’t This Awkward, Every Charles Hamilton Ex-Girlfriend’s Worst Nightmare, My Brain Is Alive, The Dead Zone, At Most I’m Just…, and The Binge Vol. 1 (Staring At The Lavalamp) .

His debut album, This Perfect Life, is set to be released digitally on June 23 through Interscope.video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Michael Vick, Hip-Hop, and the Politics of Punishment

“What if Peyton was fighting dogs instead of Mike Vick?/”

—Jadakiss ft. Nas, “What If,” The Last Kiss, 2009.

“They say I’m all about murder-murder and kill-kill/ But

what about Grindhouse and Kill Bill?/ What about Cheney and Halliburton?/ …

How’s NaS the most violent person?/”

—Nas, “Sly FoxUntitled, 2008.

“What if history was changed?/ Slavery reversed/ Would black

ladies see white boys/ And clinch they purse?/”

—Fredro Starr, “What If,” Firestarr, 2001.

Finally,

Michael Dwayne Vick

is free—well, not so. Stuck with an ankle monitor, Vick is to spend two months

of home confinement at his Virginia residence. Last Wednesday, the former Atlanta

Falcons quarterback was released from a Leavenworth, Kansas, federal prison,

after spending 19 months there for allegedly running an illegal dogfighting

ring.

Right on cue,

the sports media is fired up and ready to go. Weeks before his release date

drew close, the pundit circuit had begun setting parameters under which Vick

could once again play the sport he was untouchable at. To hear them tell it, he

would have to make a public apology, televise commercials warning against the

dangers of dogfighting, beg for Roger Goodell’s (NFL commissioner) forgiveness,

and make amends—financially—for his wrongdoings. Among other things, he would

have to join forces with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)—the

same organization which recently asked that he undergo “mental evaluation”—to

emphasize regret about his past conducts. Vick is being pressured to form

alliance with this group, which ruthlessly engages in crude advertisements,

ostensibly to justify their love for animals, such as dressing

up in Ku Klux Klan (KKK) garbs and accusing targets of attempts to create a

“master race” of pure bred dogs—which, they argue, shares similarities with the

KKK’s values.

Forbes magazine National Editor, Michael

Ozanian, captured this whirlwind of self-satisfying rhetoric-fest last

Saturday, in a column titled “Free Michael Vick.” He wrote:

Vick has served his time under the law. He should not have

to bend over backwards and do summersaults to prove anything to NFL

commissioner Roger Goodell. Vick should not have to kiss the butt of the Humane

Society or assist the animal rights group in any way. He should not have to

“donate” any of his future earnings to any causes to repent. The law is the

law. Vick broke it and paid the price. It is now time to completely free him.

It’s

important to note that Michael Vick spent 19 months behind bars for a crime,

inhumane as it was, more mainstream than the elite, gotcha media tried to make it out to be. (And it ain’t just Black folks doing it.)

The acerbic

condemnation lashed out at Vick during the beginning stages of his trial,

proved that, for many, it had less to do with Vick’s alleged crimes against

canines, and more with his function as a Black Quarterback (an anomaly in the

league). And not just any Black QB, but a fearless one—at that. Before the

prosecution could unravel all evidence sought in incriminating Vick, most

pundits had convinced themselves that not only was he guilty, but jail time was

due. The reason for this was explained by Black Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback, Donovan McNabb, in a 2007 HBO documentary.

McNabb, no

stranger to media-generated controversies, himself, was more qualified than any

other in his contention that Black athletes, and Black Quarterbacks especially,

bear burdens their White counterparts are never subjected to. “There’s not that

many African-American Quarterbacks, so we have to do a little bit extra,”

McNabb said. Using his career as a case study, he continued: “Because the

percentage of us playing this position, which people didn’t want us to play, is

low… we do a little extra.”

That extra he spoke off, is what constitutes the

stark racial disparity of coverage issued by mainstream media and directed at Black

athletes—more so, the non-conformist

ones. Vick was one of those—like T O—non-conformist. And for that, he paid a

steep price. I’m not, by any means, suggesting that Michael Vick or T O are

progressive athletes with revolutionary inclinations, but their firm commitment

to on and off-field unregulated self-expression, counts for much in the larger

equation of Black professional athleticism.

I’ve always

believed that the greatest sin a Black professional athlete can commit, in the

eyes of Major League Sports, is to intimate—not necessarily state—that their

career is not the most important priority in life. Once that happens, the media

is whipped-up and unleashed on these personalities, and equipped with all

weaponry needed to destroy, defame and defeat that spirit which provoked such

defiant conviction. If unsuccessful in defeating the spirit, they usually have no choice but to assassinate the characters

themselves. This has happened time and time again. Jackie Robinson, Jim Brown,

Muhammad Ali, Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Mike “Iron Mike” Tyson, Shareef

Abdur-Rahim, and Etan Thomas are but a few examples.

The threat

posed by such intimation never misses the detection of the three draconian-like

commissioners: Roger Goodell (NFL), David Stern (NBA), Bud Selig (MLB). Above

all, Roger Goodell has been most competent in taking Authoritarianism to

unreached heights.

In Vick’s

case, it’s hardly a secret that no other figure must be more pleased with his

appeal, than Mr. Goodell. Of course, as one only who possesses the power to

reinstate Vick, Goodell has made known—in indefinite terms—what requirements

are made of him: “Michael’s going to have to demonstrate to myself and the

general public and to a lot of people, did he learn anything from this

experience? Does he regret what happened? Does he feel that he can be a

positive influence going forward?” At this statement, I’m reminded of the old

joke, coined by 19th century journalist, Charles Anderson Dana: “Dog

Bites Man: Not News. Man Bites Dog: News.”

Any observant

eye can see that Commissioner Goodell has been anything but a “positive

influence,” in his role as CEO of the NFL. Taking any and all opportunities to

regulate the lives of players, Goodell’s policies have no limit in absurdity

and acidity. A succinct example of his sulfuric sensibilities came

through last year, during the media-made firestorm around former Dallas Cowboy

cornerback, Adam Jones, for a reported violation of “personal conduct policy.”

Jones was suspended indefinitely, but not before Goodell could humiliate him as creatively as possible.

In an open

letter to Jones, published for the world to see, he wrote: “It’s terribly

disappointing to me that we’re dealing with this again and that he’s reflecting

so poorly on all of the players in this league, which they don’t deserve.” Like

a parent reprimanding a child, Goodell further explained that Jones’ actions had

produced a “disturbing pattern of behavior,” which was “clearly inconsistent

with the conditions I set for your

continued participation in the NFL.” [Emphasis mine]

Goodell’s

remarks last week share a striking similarity to that letter, and for good

reason: Most Black men, like Michael Vick and Adam Jones, are inherently

smeared with the Hip-Hop stereotype;

a taint unlike any other in its destructive potentials and demonizing

possibilities.

The fact that

men who look like Roger Goodell and David Stern are more likely to be found as

executives of record labels, bears no invalidation upon this assertion. The

fact that those who cling to this theory are grossly unenlightened about the

true essence of Hip-Hop culture and music, couldn’t matter less in the

(money-making) discourses centered on (perceived) parallels between Black

masculinity and criminality. The fact that White athletes, like Jadakiss and

McNabb contended, are never subject to equally vitriolic generalized

representations, is meaningless to the Goodells and Sterns and Seligs of this

world.

In “Public Spaces, Private Lives: Beyond the Culture of Cynicism

acclaimed scholar, Dr. Henry Giroux, argues, quite convincingly, that these

representations and images are having far more impact than mass media—which plays

the largest role—is willing to acknowledge. He writes:

Fed by widespread stereotypical images of black youth as

super predators and black culture as the culture of criminality, minority youth

face not only a criminal justice system that harasses and humiliates them but

also a larger society that increasingly undercuts their chances for a living

wage, quality jobs, essentially social services, and decent schools.

The politics

of punishment then becomes the last hope they

have left, to bleach out thuggery—independence—from the minds of Black

athletes. The politics of punishment comes to represent a salient,

administrative weapon of mass destruction that renders mute the vocal volumes

of political courage Black athletes are illimitably capable of mustering. The

politics of punishment successfully keeps at bay the worries of Goodell, Stern,

and Selig, ensuring that their employees—potential

forces for empowerment—are forever kept in check, and reduced to

factory-like workers, within the capitalistic system of professional sports.

T.I. At Farewell Concert: ‘Pray For Me’

With less than 48 hours to go before the start of his one-year prison sentence, TI treated his hometown fans to one last concert Sunday night (May 24).

The show, billed as TI’s Farewell Concert, was hosted by Grand Hustle comedian Lil’ Duval and lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns.

The concert featured performances by the entire Grand Hustle family and a few additional guests as well. Bobby Ray aka B.o.B, Big Kuntry King, Eightball & MJG, Maino, and local acts J Money and NBA all performed before Tip emerged for his own set.

On stage, the multi-platinum rapper was greeted by encouraging signs from several fans, bearing messages like “T.I. We Will Miss U!”

He addressed his supporters saying that he would stay optimistic and that he hopes his fans would learn from his mistakes.

“I’m going to stand up tall, head up high,” he told those in attendance, including celebs like Andre 3000 and Soulja Boy. “What I need y’all to do is pray for me while I’m gone. I’ll see y’all in 366 days.”

During a set that included hits from all six of his albums, from “Dope Boyz” to “Live Your Life,” TI gave his all to the crowd of about 16,000, even bringing out his four sons on stage at one point.

Prior to the concert, TI spent his last Sunday in Atlanta working.

The Grand Hustle camp took advantage of his presence to shoot no less than four music videos, including a clip fro Big Kuntry’s “I Do.”

Hundreds gathered at Word of Faith Love Center to pay their final respects to 21-year-old Roderick Anthony Burton Jr., affectionately called “Buck” by his friends and family.

In keeping with the Janazah ceremony used by the Muslim faith to pay homage to the dead, several friends and family were dressed in traditional white attire.

Dolla’s body was wrapped in a cream-colored sheet.

The funeral was held in keeping with Dolla’s wishes. His cousin, rapper Scrapp DeLeon, told Atlanta CBS affiliate WGCL-TV that Dolla once told him that he did not fear death and when it came he wanted people to wear white and celebrate his life.

Atlanta-area music promoter Aubrey Berry, 23, has been charged with Dolla’s murder and is currently being held on $5 million bond.

On Friday (May 22), fans, friends and family gathered at Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta for Dolla’s wake.

Among those present were his Konvict Muzik labelmate Ray Lavender, Smallville actor Sam Jones III, and O’neika El-Amin, who works closely with the Konvict family and had known Dolla since he was 16.

El-Amin told AllHipHop.com she was shocked by how beautiful the young man looked in preparation for his final resting place.

“I even Tweeted about it,” said El-Amin, who shared with her followers at the time that “he looks like a Handsome Prince, wrapped in a white sheet & a beautiful garb on his head.”

Max B’s Ex-Girlfriend Testifies at Murder Trial

Gina Conway, ex-girlfriend of rapper Max B, has begun her testimony for the prosecution in the Harlemite’s murder trial.

Conway testified in Hackensack, New Jersey Superior Court that Max, real name Charly Wingate, masterminded the September 2006 murder of David Taylor in a botched robbery.

According to Conway, the real target was Taylor’s friend, Allan Plowden, who she had begun seeing shortly after splitting with Max.

She explained to jurors that Plowden drove a $120,000 Mercedes Benz and routinely carried around cash in excess of $35,000.

The two became romantically linked, and Plowden testified that he spent lavish sums of money on Conway at high-end department stores.

When she relayed this information to Max, she claimed the rapper became very jealous and promised “he was going to get him.”

Based on Conway’s testimony, the prosecution alleges that Max B began to plot the robbery, and recruited his step-brother Kelvin Leerdam to carry out the crime.

In between sobs, Gina Conway recounted how the robbery was botched from the beginning, as she and accomplice Leerdam got lost on the cab ride to New Jersey for several hours.

A cab driver corroborated the story, stating they stopped at two different Holiday Inn locations, one in Bergen County and one in New York before locating the correct establishment in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Upon arrival, Conway and Leerdam duct-taped Plowden at gunpoint and demanded his money.

Plowden revealed that his funds were in the possession of friend David Taylor, who was staying a few floors down.

Plowden was forced to place a call, and when Taylor arrived he was shot in the head at point blank range, stated Conway.

Plowden freed himself and gave chase, and was able to strike Conway with a punch before both perpetrators escaped in a cab.

Plowden was able to make a positive ID of Conway, who was apprehended several days later and charged with murder.

After giving a 169 page statement and cooperating with authorities, her crime was reduced to armed robbery and manslaughter.

Even with her testimony, she will still serve 18 years for her role in the crime.

When asked about Max B’s reaction to the murder, Conway claimed he expressed regret and promised to support her.

“Charly told me that if I pulled it off, then he would love me forever,” she stated. “Charly said he was sorry for what happened and that he was going to take care of me.”

Next Tuesday (May 26), lawyers for Max B and Kelvin Leerdam will cross-examine Gina Conway.

Both camps have stated that Conway, a stripper at the time, was the one who planned the fatal robbery.

Max B and Leerdam face life sentences if convicted.
