Slaughterhouse Signs Deal With E1 (Koch)

Slaughterhouse, the lyrical super group comprised of Joe Budden, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9” and Joel Ortiz has found a recording home with E1. E1 is the label formerly known as Koch Records and houses a number of independent rap entities. “We’re working on it. It’s a one-off [a one album deal],” Joe Budden told AllHipHop.com. “It’s coming very soon.” No official release date has been announced, but insiders suggest it could be as early as July. Budden previously revealed that he’s working on a solo album, The Great Escape, slated to hit stores later this year. Hip-Hop aficionados have been fawning over Slaughterhouse for the group’s capacity to offer a mixture of traditional lyrics and contemporary styling. Budden said that they were open to doing tracks with other artists such as Chino XL. “There have been a lot of people telling me that if you all don’t do a song with Chino XL, y’all are buggin,’” Budden said, admitting that adding new members offers a new dynamic. “I don’t know about adding a fifth member. We kind of got a camaraderie and a chemistry going where, if Slaughterhouse is somewhere, Slaughterhouse is somewhere and it’s the four of us. Chino XL, I’m not mad at that. He’s top notch.” The Slaughterhouse album has not definite release date and the title hasn’t been revealed either.Aside from his work, Budden will get surgery on his thumb Tuesday. The rapper explained the entire ordeal on his joebuddentv.com, seen below.

The Last Word: Tyrese Becomes a Comic, The Return of Old School R&B and Amy Winehouse’s Life Debuts In a Documentary!

What’s shakin’ everybody? As we get ready to enjoy the three

day Memorial Day weekend, let’s reminisce over Michael Vick being released from

prison, the discovery of a 47-million-year-old primate fossil known as Ida and

Kris Allen stunning American Idol followers

with his surprise win over Adam Lambert.

Thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends of

Atlanta-based rapper Dolla, who died Monday (May 18) at an upscale mall in LA

after a dispute with another man, former NBA star and jazz musician Wayman

Tisdale, who died Friday (May 15) after a two-year battle with cancer and Wayne

Allwine, the actor that provided the voice of Mickey Mouse for more than 30

years, who also died Monday.

Shouts go out to Jamie Foxx, whose latest hit, “Blame It,”

set the all-time record on the Urban Mainstream chart with 12 consecutive weeks

at # 1 and actress Sandra Bullock, who was recently inducted in to the Warren

Easton High School Hall of Fame after donating what the Associated Press labeled as “tens of thousands of dollars” toward

rebuilding the New Orleans school that was heavily flooded by Hurricane

Katrina.

And let’s not forget the sounding boards, who always seem to

know where to go for a good time or three.

Ladies and Gents…the Last Word for the week ending May 22,

2009.

1. Tyrese Causes Mayhem In New Comic Book Series

First, he showed us he could sing. Then he displayed his

charisma as an actor on the big screen. After that, he revealed his rhyming

skills as his rapper Black Ty. Now, Tyrese Gibson is showing his latest talent

with the creation of Mayhem, a new

three-issue comic book series from Image Comics.

Set in Los Angeles, Mayhem features Big X, a mysterious crime boss who leads a brutal crime wave

on the city. When police are unable to stop Big X, a faceless vigilante named

Mayhem steps up to restore order with the help of his partner Malice.

To help construct the limited series, Tyrese recruited noted

comic book artists Tone Rodriguez and co-writers Mike Le & William Wilson.

According to the entertainer, aligning with Image was the perfect way to get

his latest endeavor off the ground.

“Image has a long and rich history of great titles and I am

honored to be apart of that history,” Gibson said in statement. “Robert

Kirkman’s and Eric Stepheson’s input throughout this creative process has been

invaluable and I know we’ve produced a special comic book for all fans to

enjoy.”

Known as one of the four largest comic book publishers in

America, Image is home to such comic series as Spawn, Witchblade, WildC.A.T.s and the Savage

Dragon.

The first issue of Tyrese’s Mayhem comic book series is priced at $2.99 and will arrive

in stores Aug. 5.

2.  Next

Member Earns Restraining Order from Ex-Girlfriend

Times must be hard for at least one member of the group

Next. According to TMZ, a restraining order was taken out against Raphael

Shawan Brown by Nikki Giavasis.

The order stemmed from an incident last week involving

Brown. According to Giavasis, the singer tried to enter the gate of her

community in the San Fernando Valley. It was there that Brown was arrested on

an outstanding warrant. While some may wonder why the crooner was trying to

enter the community to see Giavasis, the answer is simple. They were an item

years ago.

So much so, that Giavasis invested $300,000 in Next. She further

stated that Brown had written her a check to pay her back but it bounced. After

they broke up a year ago, Giavasis says that Brown repeatedly harassed her,

allegedly broke into her house and stole her $700 shoes and a $1,000 handbag.

Man, this is crazy. I guess you could say he got a little

too close to someone that could’ve been his wifey.

3.  Amy

Winehouse Stars in Complicated Documentary

You knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time before

the Amy Winehouse story was told on a wide scale. In this case, it’s a

documentary helmed by Israeli-American interviewer Daphne Barak

According to a post on Winehouse’s MySpace blog, the film

will chronicle the time Barak spent recently with Amy and her family in St.

Lucia, as it describes the project as

“a truthful and revealing look at her complicated life” in “true honest

to goodness Amy style.”

Barak’s website features pictures from the outing as well as

a clip of the documentary, which will be released this year. The journalist

provided a sneak peak into her time with Winehouse as she provided the Sunday

Times with entries from a diary she kept on

the experience.

From what she remembers, Amy was not in top form as she

notes seeing the embattled vocalist transition carry on like an

attention-starved child as she replaces her well-documented drug addiction with

something new.

“When she comes back, she peers at my green cocktail and

asks what’s in it. I say: “You wouldn’t like it — it’s not sweet.” She

tries it and makes a face. “Does it have alcohol?” she asks. I admit it does,”

Barak wrote. “Within seconds she has drained two-thirds of my glass. Mitch and

I exchange glances. Has she swapped one addiction — to heroin and crack

— for another?

“…I present her with a set of lip glosses that I’ve brought

as a gift, but she can’t open the little box and quickly loses patience. When I

open it for her, she asks one of her security men to bring her a lip pencil and

then shakily tries to outline her lips…She looks at me hesitantly, unsure what

to say. It’s as if the grown-up world is too complicated for her. When I thank

her for dinner, she is visibly relieved and hugs me ferociously.”

Although she’s noted for interviewing other celebrities as

well as royalty, world leaders, and international personalities, I doubt that

Barak has chatted with someone as complicated as Miss Winehouse. Docs are cool,

but I’m waiting for Hollywood to give Amy’s story the red carpet treatment.

So who would you want to see portray Amy on the big screen?

Is there someone that cold truly bring her good and bad sides to light in a way

that truthfully gives us a glimpse at what’s going on with this lady ?

4.  Al B.

The hitmaker, who is on tour promoting his latest solo

everyone else. This is the grown-up version of me and all that I’ve experienced

the last few years by writing and producing on releases from various artists

such as David Bowie, Richie Sambora, Faith Evans and Usher.

Mall Videotape Surfaces In Dolla Shooting; Bail Set At $5 Mil

The defense lawyer for the man that shot and killed rapper Dolla has revealed that a mall surveillance tape will show the Atlanta emcee threatening his client before the fatal shooting.

According to Los Angeles attorney Howard Price, his client Aubrey Berry killed Dolla in self-defense despite the rapper being unarmed.

“He believed [Dolla] was armed,” Price told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “He [Berry] believed he was in danger.”

The two men had crossed paths two weeks ago, when Dolla and his entourage allegedly attacked Berry at an Atlanta gentleman’s club named Platinum 21.

Regarding the accusations that Berry followed Dolla to Los Angeles to execute him in revenge, Price argued their chance second encounter in the restaurant stall was simply fate.

Berry, a self-styled music promoter, is said to have been at the eatery conducting a business meeting.

“He [Berry] was there [at P.F. Chang’s] first,” Price explained. “[During the strip club incident], Mr. Berry inadvertently bumped into a woman he didn’t know. It was a stupid, silly incident that should’ve never escalated to this point.”

According to Price, his client decided to flee the restaurant after the bathroom stall encounter, as friends warned him that Dolla had Crip affiliations.

While waiting for his vehicle in the Beverly Center parking lot, he was allegedly approached by Dolla, his friend, Sidiq Abawi, and the rapper’s cousin, Wilbert Robinson.

Around this time, Berry discharged four to five shots from his 9MM handgun.

Dolla was hit several times in the back, and died from a wound that pierced his heart.

Police have charged Aubrey Berry with two counts of assault with a deadly firearm and one count of murder.

He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Dolla’s stepfather George Viera explained his stepson’s true personality was league’s a part from the rap persona fans knew.

“It was a character he played. To us he was just Roddy,” Viera revealed in a statement. “When he was home, you couldn’t pry him away. [He] loved to play with his nieces and nephews, loved to play on the Wii. He wanted to go to theology school. He was very interested in religion. People think rapper, they think hard, but he wasn’t that way.”

At press time, Aubrey Berry’s bail has been set at $5 million.

Friday Fashion Feature: Trend Alert: The Harem Pant

The harem pant may be better known as the updated “MC Hammer pant”.

This baggy fit is a notable trend this summer, in fabrics like satin, fleece, linen and more. They are characterized by having loose fabric at the crotch, thighs and behind, then usually getting tighter towards the calves.

Obviously one great feature is that they are comfortable – but can you pull off the look?

Jennifer Lopez rocks harem pants

The best way to wear these is with a fitted top to stay away from looking like one big parachute, or in these type of jumper forms:

Off the Shoulder Cat Suit by Love Moschino Harem Jumper by Baby Phat

Also, pick a shape and fabric that drapes nicely and flatters your behind, because these pants can exaggerate that area in an undesirable way.

Although she looks beautiful, Jennifer Hudson did not pick the best fit with these pants

If you’re a bit wary about this trend, you could try a subtle version like these:

High Waist Harem Short by Baby Phat

Ladies, have you been rocking harem pants, or can you see yourself giving them a shot?

Rapper T.I. Appeals Prison Location

T.I. has requested that he be allowed to remain free while he tries to find a new minimum security facility that will allow him to serve his prison sentence closer to home.

As previously reported, the Atlanta rapper, born Clifford Harris, is scheduled to turn himself in by no later than noon on Tuesday (May 26) to serve a 366-day sentence at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex’s low security facility.

It seems, however, that the decision to send him to Arkansas was based on a pre-sentencing report that described the 28-year-old as having a “serious history of violence.”

In his appeal of the decision, TI claims that prison officials miscalculated his criminal history.

Prior to his 2007 arrest, for which TI will be serving his time at Forrest City, he already had several runs with the law, as indicated by his most recent charges, which included possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In 1998, he was convicted for violating a state controlled substances act and for giving false information.

He violated his probation agreement in regards to that charge several times for offenses including possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.

In 2003, the rapper was charged with assaulting a female deputy sheriff at University Mall in Tampa, Florida and sentenced to complete a set number of community service hours.

In 2006, TI was arrested for failing to complete the required number of community service hours in that case.

At the time of the arrest, he was in a courthouse facing charges that he had threatened a man outside of a strip club the previous years.

Those charges were eventually dropped.

Kobe vs. Lebron: Really? I’ll PASS…

Ok, so let me get this right. Nike wants a Kobe Bryant vs. Lebron James NBA Finals; Vitamin Water wants it; I’m beginning to believe that even the NBA wants it… and now YOU? Say it isn’t so, please.

I understand that people want to see two of the best players on the planet go head-to-head for the jewelry. But the truth is, how often will they actually play one-on-one? Let the records show that The Black Mamba is a Shooting Guard and King James is a Small Forward. The Black Mamba can play two positions at a high level while King James could play all five positions easily. Wait, for the young’ns, I’d like to give you a quick history lesson.

Your Kobe vs. Lebron is my Jordan vs. Magic. And while many people compare Lebron to Michael Jordan, Lebron is built and plays more like Magic Johnson. Magic was the ultimate Floor General and could play all positions as he once accomplished his rookie year when the Lakers Center, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar went down. Kobe is the closest to Michael Jordan as any player will come for quite some time. But even when the Chicago Bulls played the Lakers in the 1991 NBA Finals, Scottie Pippen was the one that neutralized Magic, not Michael.

Back to the future… no matter how prolific and “unstoppable” Kobe Bryant is on the court, physically, he doesn’t match up to Lebron James. I know what you’re thinking… I’m just playing with you; I really don’t know what you’re thinking. Lebron James is the anomaly of his profession: 6’ 8”, 260 pounds of pure aggression. And on a fast break, dude is a LearJet 85 tearing the runway apart before lift off. Just doesn’t seem all that fair to me.

Do you know what I want? I know that the Nuggets and the Cavaliers are down 0-1, both losing games that were winnable up until the last two minutes. In my eyes, the Anthony vs. Lebron Finals is where it’s at. Yes, Carmelo Anthony, the only player in the league that could stand up to Lebron without a double team. Yes, the Carmelo Anthony that can score from anywhere on the court and has come into his own during the playoffs. Yea, I know, the same Carmelo that co-signed the “Stop Snitching” campaign, but that’s another story.

I can see the NBA with a stubbed toe scrambling to promote this matchup: Anthony vs. James, guaranteed that one of these Gold Medal winners will grab their FIRST NBA Championship.

You must admit that it has a certain RING to it.

Quick Opinions

By the time you get to this, former Atlanta Falcons Quarterback, Michael Vick will be at home with his family after serving a year and a half bid for his role in the running of an illegal dog fighting ring (I typed ‘ring’ again). While he has two months of home confinement to serve (sentence ends July 20) there is a heated debate about whether Vick deserves a second chance at the NFL. And to those that believe that Vick should rot in a cell forever for his actions, I’m sure that there is a mountain full of rocks you can kick. Was Vick in the wrong for his actions? Socially, on a mainstream level, emphatically, YES he was. All we hear about was the fact that his original apology wasn’t remorseful enough. That’s true, it wasn’t. He grew up on dog fighting, watching dogs being put down by his family and friends, the sheer gore of it all, so why would he be remorseful about something he experienced his entire life? Simply put, Michael Vick has lost more than most of us will ever gain in our lifetimes for his actions. So if he isn’t remorseful by now, he can kick rocks right along with his protestors.

Jay-Z Parts Ways With Def Jam

After more than a decade of providing a consistent string of hit albums and songs, Jay-Z is leaving Def Jam Records.

The rap mogul confirmed the amicable split Thursday (May 21). Jay-Z’s departure from Def Jam puts an end to rumors regarding the buy out of his contract with the iconic label, for a reported $5 million dollars.

During his stint at the Def Jam, Jay-Z transitioned from top-selling artist to music executive.

Jay-Z albums released under the Def Jam umbrella included In My Lifetime Vol. 1, Vol. 2.., Hard Knock Life and Vol. 3…Life and Times of S. Carter as well as The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, The Blueprint, The Blueprint: The Gift and the Curse and The Black Album.

After retiring from music in 2003, Jay-Z was appointed president and co-CEO of Def Jam by Reid.

The rapper’s time as president resulted in the acquisition of R&B/pop hit makers Rihanna and Ne-Yo.

In 2007, Jay-Z announced his resignation from his post as president of Def Jam when his contract was not renewed.

The rapper continued his relationship with the label as he remained on the Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam roster as a recording artist.

Prior to officially stepping down, Jay-Z released his 2006 comeback opus, Kingdom Come.

A year later, the rapper’s concept album, American Gangster, followed.

In 2008, Jay-Z aligned with Live Nation via a wide-ranging deal, record label that included the creation of the Roc Nation record label as well as albums, touring and publishing.

Carmelo Anthony Inks Label Deal With Block Ent.

NBA star Carmelo Anthony has finalized a joint venture with his imprint Krossover Entertainment and Atlanta-based record label Block Entertainment.

For the last few years, Block Entertainment has been a consistent force in Atlanta’s music scene due to the star power of Yung Joc, Gorilla Zoe, and Boyz N Da Hood.

The joint deal will initially focus on promoting the national debut of Atlanta artist Diego Ca$h.

Locally, the Eastside rapper has been making a name for himself on mixtape collaborations with DJ Drama (Gangsta Grillz), DJ Smallz (Kill Ya Self), and DJ Paperboi (800 Bodies).

With ‘Melo’s roster already including Philadelphia emcee Cassidy, Diego Ca$h feels blessed to come into a label situation surrounded by experienced industry professionals.

“I am privileged to be in a position where I am able to work with such seasoned individuals in the music industry,” Ca$h stated to AllHipHop.com. “I plan to continue to create quality rap music while furthering my brand as a rap artist.”

Carmelo Anthony is aware that many fans don’t take basketball player labels seriously.

With his recent signing and joint label venture, the Denver Nuggets star expects fans to begin recognizing Krossover Entertainment as a legit entity in Hip-Hop music.

“By joining forces with Block Entertainment, I am looking forward to a great business relationship,” Anthony stated to AllHipHop.com. “In addition to long term musical success, this movement will mark new territory in not only the Atlanta market but all over the country as well.”

Diego Ca$h’s latest mixtape, 800 Bodies, is available at www.krossoverent.com.

Carmelo Anthony and his Denver Nuggets team do battle tonight with the Los Angeles Lakers (9PM ET, ESPN) in game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Lakers currently lead the series 1-0.

AHH Stray News: Em On Pace To Set Sales Record

Hip-Hop star Eminem continues to be one of the music industry’s top selling acts, despite an four-year hiatus from the business. After two days in stores, the rapper’s sixth album Relapse is on pace to move over 650,000 copies, making it the year’s best debut thus far. The Shady/Aftermath/Interscope release will easily beat U2’s record setting album Horizon, which sold 480,000 copies when it was released on Interscope in March. Relapse is expected to easily top Billboard’s Top 200 charts next week, giving Eminem his 5th consecutive #1 album.

Drake Denies Rihanna Rumors

In a live phone call on New York City’s Hot 97 Thursday morning (May 21), Canadian Hip-Hop sensation Drake denied that he is romantically involved with singer Rihanna.

During a promo call for a performance in conjunction with the station next week, the former child actor told morning show hosts Cipha Sounds and Paul Rosenberg that he and the starlet are just friends, despite reports to the contrary.

On Wednesday (May 20), the New York Post set of a storm of rumors when their popular rumor column Page Six ran an item announcing the two foreign-born stars were seen together at the Lucky Strike Lane and Lounge bowling alley in Midtown Manhattan on Monday (May 18).

The tabloid quoted a source as saying Rihanna was “drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with [Drake] all night. They were really cute together.”

“It’s not at all,” Drake said on air. “I’m being honest. [She’s] just a friend, that’s all. A great artist. I have the most respect for her. I think she’s so talented,” he concluded, despite admitting that they were both at Lucky Strike on Monday.

The rumor was of added interest to the blogosphere as gossip columns have been seeking proof of Rihanna’s efforts to resume dating, following the tumultuous end of her long-term relationship with singer Chris Brown.

Prior to being linked to Drake, Rihanna was allegedly spotted on dates with L.A. Lakers center Andrew Bynum.

Will Smith To Star In Katrina Drama

Will Smith’s production company has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring to life the story of one of the many heroes of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath, the two companies announced Wednesday (May 20).

Overbrook Entertainment and Sony have earned the film rights to the story of former Marine John Keller, who rescued nearly 244 of his neighbors in New Orleans in the days that followed one of the largest natural disaster on American soil to date.

Keller, who was nicknamed “The Can Man” by the media, orchestrated the rescue of his elderly neighbors from their apartment building, the American Can Company in New Orleans’ Mid City neighborhood.

Following the levee breach that flooded the city and added to the damage already caused by Hurricane winds, American Can sat in over 11 feet of water.

Keller single-handedly kept his neighbors calm and controlled while helping them exit the building.

While the announcement from Overbrook and Sony did not specify a production start date or casting, The Times-Picayune reports that Overbrook executive Jeff Sommerville has confirmed that Smith is likely to portray the 6’7” Keller himself.

“When I came back after Katrina and talked to the old people I had saved, they all said God was going to bless me, I’m going to receive my blessing” Keller told the Times-Picayune. “Well, I guess this is it. “I wasn’t in it for the money,” he added. “But I was able to affect so many people. It wasn’t just the people I got out of the building but everybody who valued those people too.”

The film will be written and directed by John Lee Hancock, the writer behind the 1997 blockbuster Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

PREEMO & MC EIHT MONEY

This isn’t like anything new, but its new to me. One of my readers friends hit me up and told me that MC Eiht and Preemo might do an album together. I mean, there isn’t much more than that, but I will say that its probably not a good move for either guy. LOL! Seriously, I am a fan of both but I never thought of them as any sort of duo. We’ll see.

CASSIDY GOING TO GOSPEL?

Cassidy is looking to make some changes, I’m hearing. Personally, I thought that after his situation where the dude got killed and then the accident, I thought he’d go back to his normal self. That doesn’t seem to be the case. It would appear that Cass has adopted a more religious based rap style that leads people to believe that he’s becoming a gospel rapper. I think he’s actually committing to this gospel rap stuff. Then, there is the rumor about Amber Rose, Kanye’s girl. I wonder…if you know…what it feels…

WHO IS CASSIE TALKING ABOUT?

Cassie sent this out on her twitter – I wonder who she is talking about?

“If it weren’t for you, who would remind me to say my prayers before bed. I love you more than my heart can handle.xxxx

IS 50 SMASHING BETTE MIDLERI’m not trying to be funny, but when I read this quote, I didn’t know what else to think!Bette Midler said: “He is one of the newest members of our tribe. He has really made my life worth living. 50 has been with me through thick and thin.”

50 Cent said “Look how beautiful things are and how nice it feels when [I’m around her.”

THEY IN LOVE?!

50 CENT DEADS THE RICK ROSS BEEF?From Whoo Kid:”50’s done ten freestyles I’m waiting on like, two more. I guess he’s trying to figure out the title. And I’ve been doing a lot of those Radio Planet videos, so I’m gonna put together a RadioPlanet.TV 50 Cent video. Those are my video mixtapes I’ve been putting out, killing the Web waves…The Rick Ross sh*t is outta here. It’s over, he’s done his promo, 50 promoted his album very well, so Rick Ross is outta here. Now he’s worried about his own s**t. They got the Tia book out there. That should be the last level of anything that has anything to do with Rick Ross.”

DRAKE SELLS OUT!

Drake has publicaly denied that there is anything between him and Rihanna! Now he does admit to chilling with RiRi, but there’s nothing really poppin’ off. Pause.

Drake, many people were about to live vicariously through you but now we have to give you the fail of the day! Ya shoulda ran with it buddy! LOL!Here is the original report- “Also, check out the rumor about Drake kissin’ all on Chris Brown’s ex, Rihanna! Click HERE!

JAY-Z BUYS HIS ALBUMS…OR HIS CONTRACT!

Jay-Z is officially the MASTER! The rapper now owns all the master recordings of his albums up until this point. From what’s going around, the paid like $5 million for this most recent album. Only thing is, its unclear as to what album that actually is. I’m sure Def Jam didn’t mind the money. They are suggesting that this catalogue of music is going to be the basis for Jay-Z’s new venture with Live Nation, Roc Nation. I mean, lets be real – its going to be hard for Jay to find some fresh talent that’s going to help him live up to that massive advance that he got. He’s going to have to hustle! Anyway, Jay-Z’s about to drop some heat with Blueprint 3…I can feel it in my bones.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

WHAT? A cop pushes a woman down the steps and then charges HER with assault. They are now looking at his whole background.

KANYE DUMPS AMBER?

I’ll tell you, these rumors are a messy job in deed. According to my homey Gyant, Kanye has given the boot to his bald babe Amber Rose. According to G, Amber was trying to get her swerve on with Cassidy – you know the rapper from Philly. Now, this defies my own internal reasoning, but I will finish the rumor. Apparently, she violated while Kanye was out in Hawaii working on the Blueprint 3 album and Rihanna’s upcoming CD. Well, they say she was creeping with Cass on the low and Kanye found out. WOW. She would be the dumbest person ever. Madonna palmed her tail. She could of gotten her bi-rocks off and kept Ye as her escort into high society.

DOLLA RUMORS!

I don’t know much of anything about this Dolla stuff. I do know the killer is saying it was self defense. But, here is a letter from one of my Cali homeboys refuting some of the reports out and about: “Hey wsup Illseed. I was shocked when I heard the news about Dolla getting killed. I didn’t know him personally but it weird for me because I actually saw him the day before. I don’t know why I keep hearing reports of him going straight to the mall after he came from the airport because I saw him in person on Sunday around 12pm at Cj’s restaurant in Los Angeles. He was killed on Monday. I know it was him at CJ’s. He said hello to me and he was with like 3 or 4 other guys in a black Cadillac Escalade. So he’s been here at least since Sunday because I saw him that morning. I don’t know think the guy who shot him was following him from the airport unless he was following him for 2 days. I don’t think Dolla was here on a Sunday afternoon, flew somewhere else and came back on Monday and went straight to the mall. Doesn’t make any sense to me. Well that’s it. Just wanted to give you my 2 cents. Thanks.”

SO…T-DOT GOT NEXT?!

I got this email from one of my Canadian connection: “Wiseguys on the Westcoast! So Drake got some talented homies from the Dot and they all jumped on planes to support their homie on the end of his big tour.. and it looks like they taking LA by storm!! here’s some rumours.. Boi1da is about to MURDER the game again with a very big signing at a very big machine! Drizzy is Number One on Power Radio in LA (and everywhere else), Jay Z has done the remix of “The Best I Ever Had”… Bishop Brigante & Snoop have been in the lab again for a new single.. Ken Masters is dating Raven Simone?JD Era lands here tommorow! Big Show in San Bernadino the Luckman Complex in LA… and yes Drake is dating Rhianna… you remember some of the wiseguys from that Drake song “Good Riddance”

MICHEL’LE SUING SUGE

SMH. You may have missed. I know the AHH News didn’t cover it. R&B singer Michel’le is suing Suge Knight for back child and spousal support. She said that she has not gotten anything from Big Suge in about three months. She is reportedly owed about $40k and is looking for $13k a month. She’s ballin! She got married to Suge in 1999. She also has a kid with Dr. Dre. AWKWARD!

If you never heard of her, here is a song from back in the day. Dre used to produce her on Ruthless Records. He was also featured in a lot of her videos.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

There is a rumor that Uncle Murda, Maino and Cassidy will be doing a mixtape called NWA East.

Somebody told me that Red Cafe is having some issues with other “organizations” in Brooklyn based on his colorful name.

I am hearing Jason Fox has signed with Dipset under Cam. Is this because Jim Jones is down with Webstar? Is this a fight for Uptown?

Michael Vick is out of jail! Who let the dogs out!?

I don’t even know who Cocktail is, but I heard she is working as an escort down in Miami.

Rick Ross is reportedly working on a clothing line for “big dudes.”

“The Game,” the TV show has been cancelled. I never watched but a lot of people loved that show.

Robin Givens reportedly owes Uncle Sam $292,000 in back taxes as far back and the year 1996!

I don’t know who Susan Owori is, but she is seemingly claiming to be carrying Akon’s unborn child.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

This just breaks my heart. Shout out to MD, who sent this over. I have to give the King Family a big FAIL for failing to work together to see that their great father’s legacy come to the big screen. I know MLK is somewhere looking with SCORN and SHAME over his kids behavior.

Dreamworks stated:

“The purpose of making a movie about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is to tell a great story which could bridge distances and bring people together. We remain committed to pursuing a film chronicling Martin Luther King’s life provided that there is unity in the family so we can make a film about unity in our nation. We believe this is what Dr. King would have wanted.”

Get it together, “family.” You are supposed to be bigger than this bickering!

IS GABRIELLE UNION GETTING EXPOSED?

There have been a lot of rumors about Gabrielle Union, but I love her still. She’s a banger! But this letter has ether all over it. It is the wife of a professional athlete.

Here is the letter:I am happily married to a pretty famous athlete and I am quite successful myself. I have known Gabrielle for probably as long as I’ve known my husband. I often heard disgusting rumors about her, but dismissed them. I am not one to get caught up in gossip, as my husband and I are often subjected to it ourselves. In any case, the rumors would not even affect me if they were true, as long as they had nothing to do with me. I have heard about Gabrielle being very promiscuous, but that never bothered me. She was always very pleasant when I came into contact with her and that’s all that mattered. She seemed to be working hard at her “success” and I respect ambition. Rumors flooded even throughout her marriage with Chris. Her affairs with so many…young, old, married, divorced…were no secrets. Boris, Darren, Jason, Derek, Jamie, Hill, Ludacris and the list CONTINUES!

Again, it had no affect on me. I certainly did not agree that she was the mistress to several married men, but it was not

my life. I felt as though Gabrielle was searchingfor something she would never find and I often felt sorry for her.

Two years ago, while attending the NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas with my husband, I ran into Gabrielle there as well. At this time, she was telling me about a man she had been interested in, but i didn’t pay much attention to it. About a week later, I heard a rumor that she was romantically involved with Dwyane Wade that same weekend (while might i add, his wife was there). What I found ironic was that…Dwyane was not who she had been telling me about. Again, I let it slide.

For the following year, Gabrielle continued to do as she pleased, I saw her on several occasions with a variety of different men. The rumor of her and Dwyane continued as well. This past year, the news seemed to be that Gabrielle and Dwyane were officially a couple. Although I knew in my mind that Gabrielle was not settled in this supposed “relationship” with a man who is a decade her junior, it was not my concern. I no longer felt sorry for her, but rather for Dwyane. He seems to not know any better. I can understand that he is newly single and is more than likely exploring his options. But to hear that he has assumed Gabrielle as his girlfriend disappoints me. I have met Dwyane a few times as well through my husband and he seems like a true gentlemen, someone with traditional values…but who has become caught up in the “celebrity world”.

The reason for my article is not because I am thaaat concerned with Gabrielle or Dwyane or anyone else mentioned here. The reason for this is because Gabrielle has now gone too far. She has approached MY husband. Over the past 2 weeks, I have found SEVERAL emails from Ms.Gabby. When does this woman stop? Although my husband is not innocent, as he did give Gabrielle his email address and phone number, he was smarter than to engage in her UNACCEPTABLE behavior. This is a woman whom I know, and have spent time around. I cannot grasp what goes on in her mind. I asked my husband why he was not inclined to be drawn in by Gabrielle and he gave me an honest answer, he said “she’s DANGEROUS”. When will this woman stop? To me, she seems to have Dwyane fooled…so why not continue to fool him and leave other women’s men alone. At almost 40, it is revolting to be acting as a 20 year old. Someone help her please. I will post this article AS MANY PLACES as I can to ensure that women (especially those with rich and famous men) are aware of this woman. I hope no other man or woman has to fall victim to Ms. Gabrielle Union.

Hip Hop Soda Shop Closes Tampa Location

The much hyped Hip Hop Soda Shop in Tampa, Florida has announced it will close it doors, citing the poor economy and real estate issues as the culprit.

According to reps for parent company H3 Enterprises, the company is exploring other opportunities in Tampa Bay in hopes of securing another location to house the restaurant/gaming franchise.

In July of 2008, the company suffered a loss, when CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis abruptly announced his departure from the franchise.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Warren Sapp was an investor in the Tampa Bay franchise, which opened in December of 2007 and has hosted numerous special events for the local community.

“Our employees, team members, and investors remain our top priority,” the company said in a press release. “H3 appreciates the support of the Tampa Bay community, and hopes to continue its mission even in the face of the severe economic downturn.”

Hurricane Chris: Grown Man S**t

Growing up is difficult under any circumstance but in Hip-Hop

it’s decidedly more difficult.  The

machine milks youth and changing the public’s perception of you, especially in

a drought, can be the difference between a continuing career and filling out

that UPS application.

Hurricane Chris has the unenviable task of growing from teen

club rapper to a legitimate fully grown MC. With an album in the works he

prepares for his sophomore season with a marked determination to shed his teen

rapper image.  We sat down with him to discuss

this journey from boy to man and whether or not he was ready to leave the

childish things behind

AllHipHop.com:

Historically Hip-Hop has been the domain of young rappers, but recently they

haven’t been garnering the same sort of respect. Now that you’re no longer a

teenager how do you grow without being labeled a teeny-bopper rapper?

Hurricane Chris:

If you’re what I am, you’re going to recognize me. We’re on the next level with

this one we don’t have to play too much with the childish stuff. I have Bobby

Valentino doing me a single right now, I got Beenie Man doing me one right now.

We on a whole ‘nother level, this one here is to the moon, you feel me? We’re

trying to go to Jupiter. We got them ladies going crazy. Hit the club with me

see how they act when my song come on, how they throw they drawers on the

stage. I got ‘em 20 to 30, 40 years olds want me, I’m Hurricane.

AllHipHop.com:

You had a couple hits from your first album. How do you take that success

single-wise and translate that into a full album.

Hurricane Chris:

I took it and I lived with it at first, yunno? I think about what I had at first,

and I look at it just as something to let them know that I exist. I let them

know that I exist on that and then I doubled back. And now the second part of

my career, the sophomore part of my career is gonna be to let them know what I

stand for; to let them know what I really am. A lyrical massive genius. On any

scale you put me on I’mma destroy any opponent I got. So now with this

sophomore album, we gon’ show them that now we’re 20 and we’re on a whole

‘nother level in this rap game. I’m eating up anything that comes this way. I

make the club do this [claps hands] and I’ll freestyle and chew you up.

AllHipHop.com:

What is your album making process?

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Hurricane Chris:

What I try to do is know how much time I have to make an album, and I’m just

going to go in the studio, you feel me? I’mma use all the time it takes to make

an album. I’m going to go to the studio and I’m not going to think about what

I’m doing. When it’s time to wrap the album up, I’m going to go in and see what

type of songs I got.

What I ain’t got, I’mma go do, and what I have too much of, I

slack back of. When it’s time to put the album out, I’mma look at it again and

see what’s up, that’s how we do it. I just keep recording, trying to put out

the best album. I stay in the studio like a junky just banging it out like

that.

AllHipHop.com: If

it wasn’t Rap, what would it be?

Hurricane Chris:

I thank God everyday that I’m here ‘cause every time somebody asks me that, you

know what I tell them?  “I don’t know.”

AllHipHop.com:

You’re on an elevator with someone, and you want to convince them buy your

album or buy into what Hurricane Chris is about. What would you say if you only

had 30 seconds?

Hurricane Chris:

I’d tell them I’m real, I’m straight off the top, I got my own type of music.

And then I’mma give them some of that…give them a verse, a 16[bars], give

them a hook and they gon’ be sold on it right there.  All I have to do is open my mouth and

showcase my talent. What God gave me.

AllHipHop.com:

You’re from Louisiana, which has a significant amount of issues fiscally. They

have problems with literacy as well as other issues. Does any of this come

across in your music?

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Hurricane Chris:

I’mma talk about everything going on in Louisiana, from the hurricanes to the

stuff that’s going on with the crime rates. The everyday basics when there

ain’t no storm. I’mma give you the whole picture. If you want to watch a movie

you can’t expect for the movie to block certain things out. If you want to

watch that movie, see that movie, you’re gonna see the whole deal. Some people

close their eyes if they don’t want to see it. It’s real where I roam.

AllHipHop.com:

And what is reality to you?

Hurricane Chris:

It’s principle, you know? Principles and responsibilities. My reality is that

I’m a real dude. Family first, business second, and then all that b.s. third.AllHipHop.com: If

there was anything about this music and this business that you’d want to

change, what would it be?

Hurricane Chris:

This game got a lot of ins and outs that can be looked at. One thing I’d like

to change is how people get taken advantage of when they hop in the game. I

like to change the game and put somebody there with authority that would give

these people charges when they do they type of insane stuff they do. Sometimes

the law need to come into the rap game because there is some crazy unorthodox

retarded stuff that goes on here. But then with that we probably have to give

the people half our money.

I stay away from the fake. I seen people get they chain

snatched off and then go back in the studio and say “I’m a gangster!” I done

seen all that, you know, so you just gotta stay in your lane and go after the

fans with that real stuff.

AllHipHop.com:

How important is the history of Hip-Hop to you?

Hurricane Chris:

Man it’s real important you better understand where this come from before you

jump out there with any of that childish bull. You better understand, it’s

people that live sweat bleed and die for this. Get that understood.
