Busta, Redman Fume Over Joe Budden Meth Comments

The war of words between Joe Budden and Method Man continues with new commentary from Busta Rhymes, and Redman, Meth’s rap partner. Joe Budden has started significant conversation among the legends of the 90’s, in particular. Upon seeing a listing of the Top 50 rappers as provided by Vibe magazine, the rapper opted to editorialize his views on several. A bulk of it focused on Method Man and his ability to best him lyrically. Redman told Ed Lover of Power 105.1 in New York that he wouldn’t have an problem with engaging Budden lyrically. “I just laughed at it at first. I’m a Jersey dude and he a Jersey dude so he already knows the business,” Redman said. “I know my man [Method Man] got this. If he needs me to step in, I’m in. I’m already in it anyway. Its gonna stay on the rap level too.”Busta Rhymes provided color to Redman’s assessment of the matter with Budden. Busta Rhymes said, “I think it was a great disrespect and he might want to get slapped in his face for it. That’s just how I feel about it. I’m not saying that to be on no pro-violence thing, because that’s not where I’m at with it. I still think that there is a fine line between entertainment and being morally and principally disrespectful.”Joe Budden told AllHipHop.com that he merely meant his challenge from a lyrical and Hip-Hop point of view. “Maybe I was wrong for singling out Method Man, because that derailed my entire argument. Maybe because of the name value,” Budden said. “My argument was a valid argument, but by that time I was on a tangent.”Still, Budden did not back off the graphic nature of his previous remarks even if the terminology was a lyrical metaphor. “That’s how I feel. It’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it,” Budden said. “Its not like I said, I’ll chop his head off and that’s the end of it. I said, “I’ll chop his head off and I’m willing to prove it.”“I would love for him to say ‘I’ll chop his head off’ face to face,” Meth said on the radio.  “He needs to come see me face to face. I don’t want none of that back and forth on the internet.” Like Redman and Busta Rhymes, Meth maintained it was a matter of respect, or lack of. “We already know them lists are garbage. It ain’t have nothing to do with rap…he can say that all he want,” he said “He ain’t got no respect for me. Out of all them dudes on that list – you go for a battle rapper if you a battle rapper.”Method Man & Redman’s Blackout 2 is in stores today.

Slip-N-Slide Bets Sounds On In-House Producers

With an esteemed cadre of rap heavyweights, Slip-N-Slide Records is looking to increase its presence in the music industry by highlighting its in-house production team.

Comprised of CP Hollywood, DJ Ave Mcree, Vakseen and Hollywood J, the group shares a love of designing beats while working with Slip-N-Slide artists such as Trina, Rick Ross and Plies.

Individually, S-N-S production team members garnered the label’s attention through their own achievements.

In addition to Ross, CP Hollywood has collaborated with Youngbloodz, Pitbull, Hurricane Chris, Pleasure P, Ballgreezy and Unda Surveillance.

The Florida native is known for producing Unda Surveillance’s club anthem “On Deck.”

DJ Ave Mcree captured a buzz among Georgia residents while studying legendary turntablists Grand Master Flash and DJ Magic Mike.

Like his Florida-based affiliate, Mcree has shared studio time with a variety of artists, including George Clinton, DJ Unk and Eight Ball & MJG.

The Slip-N-Slide production team’s official introduction comes as the label prepares to release debut albums from newcomers Shonie and Qwote.

In addition, the Slip-N-Slide celebrates the newest additions to its roster: actress/songstress/community leader Drew Sidora, dancehall sensation Atiba, yard soul artist Camar and rapper turned singer Swazy Baby.

Hollywood J’s inclusion on the production team marks a new chapter for the Chicago native, who made his mark working with rap trio The Teamstaz.

Hollywood J is also known for his remix to Gorilla Zoe’s#### single, “Hood Figga” as well as his work on songs from Omarion, T.I. and Yung Joc.

The college-educated musicmaker isn’t the only Slip-N-Slide production team member to work with Yung Joc.

The Bad Boy rapper’s Gucci Mane and Yung Ralph-featured single, “Posted at the Store” was produced by Vakseen.

Citing music and the theory of art as influences, the beatmaker is also noted for producing Jim Jones’ “Pulling Me Back” as well as logging in studio time with G-Unit and Black Wall Street, among others.

In the coming months, fans can expect more Slip-N-Slide music from Trina and Ross.

Kanye West Enters Not Guilty Plea for Paparazzi Incident

A plea of not guilty was entered Friday (May 15) by rapper/producer Kanye West regarding an alleged altercation last year with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

According to reports, the 31-year-old entertainer’s lawyer, Blair Berk, appeared on behalf of the entertainer, who was not present in court.

West pleaded not guilty to one count of misdemeanor vandalism, one count of battery and one count of grand theft.

Friday’s plea is the latest development in the aftermath of the paparazzi scuffle, which occurred on September 11.

West and his road manager/bodyguard, Don Crawley, were arrested at LAX as they attempted to catch a flight to Honolulu.

The incident with the paparazzi was captured on video as it showed the men wrestling a camera away from a photographer and later smashing the device into the ground.

West was charged with the misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft, while Crawley received two counts for the crimes after allegedly smashing a camera that belonged to another photographer.

Through his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, Crawley also pleaded not guilty.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for July 15.

Shawnna: Lyrics, The Booty & Ludacris

This is going to be simple. Here are the things you need to know about Shawnna these days:

She’s got an album with Ludacris coming called Battle of the Sexes

You can catch up with the Chi-Town MC at myspace.com/shawnnafanspace

She’s one of the best lyrical spitters out, male or female.

Now, here is what you should want to know.

How the “rift” between her and DTP came about.

How, she’s working it out and why Shawnna Guy never stopped working.

Her relationship with jailed friend Remy Ma and other female rappers.

How she’s able to “make it clap” these days.

Her thoughts on the lyrical state of Hip-Hop.

For this and so much more…read on.

AllHipHop.com: Now, when this new project was announced many people were under the impression that you and Ludacris had beef and you had left Distubing Tha Peace. Can you give us the background on this?

Shawnna: A lot of people really want to know what happened, but out of respect for my fans, I ain’t gonna bulls**t y’all. Anybody that’s in the industry knows that this s### don’t always go the way you want it to go. It got to the point where…[pauses] there was a lot of red tape we had to go over. [pauses] It got to the point where I could come home. I missed home. You know what I mean? There’s a lot of talent at home.

People always want to say, “Oh, they fell out.” “She ain’t f***in’ with them no more.” I was never like that. This industry is about timing. People fail to realize, I was with Disturbing Tha Peace and Def Jam and I’m not one to point the finger but, y’all never saw Shawnna out in the media. I feel like people at Disturbing Tha Peace is family and you know family doesn’t always agree.

And everybody knows, Def Jam – they had a lot going on. They were switching from Jay-Z to JD to what’s his name?

AllHipHop.com: L.A.

Shawnna: L.A. Reid. That’s the machine so if the machine isn’t running right, how can my project come out right? It was time to pause.

AllHipHop.com: I got you.

Shawnna: The industry is f**ked up all over the place. I’m sure you talk to artists everyday that tell you they are unhappy with their situation. That’s just a part of the game. I never left DTP, it was just time for reconstruction.

AllHipHop.com: I just saw this clip and you know…you’ve thickened up a lil’ bit in the last few years. A lot of people want to know what’s going on there too.

Shawnna: [laughs] I’m not stressing no more. I’m eating good. I’m great right now. My sister is living with me and she’s like my in-house chef. She gets down. It’s going to be a moderation now that I have to get back out and we seen by the public. Polish up, as one of my NFL buddies keeps telling me. I don’t get all caught up in what size I am supposed to be. Black women come all shapes and sizes and we are all beautiful Please just love me the same and pay attention to my lyricism.

AllHipHop.com: I don’t want you to get it confused. Nobody is complaining.

Shawnna: Well, my manager said, “We have a couple people that want to do some things – photo shoots and endorsements. But [They are saying] we’re a little concerned about this extra weight she’s gained.” I like my size. I’m not stressed out. My type of man likes a woman with a lil meat on the booty…a lil’ meat on the curves.

Shawnna with Ludacris: Emcees

AllHipHop.com: No doubt. Your style has always been impressive to me. I’m somebody that always likes lyricism. What are your thoughts on lyricism in general?

Shawnna: Anybody that follows the industry as far back as the Rakim’s, the KRS-One’s, the Latifah’s, the Monie Love’s, our Redman & Method Man, to our OutKast and Goodie Mob’s. You can go out to the West Coast. You got your Ras Kass. Female-wise: Bo$$ and Lady of Rage. It’s so vast and versatile. We don’t even have to mention Jay-Z, Biggie and Nas, that’s a given. I’m in the when I didn’t even know I was in the industry with my dad being an entertainer (Rock and Blues legend Buddy Guy). Music changes. Some people want to hear the “dumbed down, you ain’t got to put too much thought to it” music. And a lot of people want to hear actual lyricism. When I put out a project, im going after both of those genres. I personally prefer lyricism. I come from the days of you had to be nice. You had to be a spitter for people to even respect you. Don’t get it twisted – I respect everybody for what they do.

Shawnna raps with two mics and talks about biting

AllHipHop.com: Right. What happened to that group you had with Remy and Jacki-O?

Shawnna: Them my babies. This industry is crazy. When we were going through that, I was going through my negotiations at DTP and Remy was going through her thing with her lable. I think Jack was the only one that was able to move around. It just kept hindering our progress a lot and then unfortunately Remy got caught up in that…I’m just waiting to go see that girl so I can tell her how much I love her..how much I’m there for her.

AllHipHop.com: The landscape for women in Hip-Hop is crazy right now. Aside from the vixens, people are almost hostile to women. What do you think about that?

Shawnna: I don’t care. That makes me go harder. That makes me go even harder. We know that it’s a male dominated industry, but we know that the women are buying most of the records. The industry doesn’t try to make men battle unless they say something about each other. We are in high demand and you gotta have tough t###### for this s**t. I’m not going anywhere.

AllHipHop.com: Right.

Shawnna: Its way harder for women. We not supposed to be anything but a sex symbol or something to sleep with. Once we get past the fact that it doesn’t have to be just one, I think we’ll do much better. We didn’t even have a category for female artist in the majority of the awards shows for the last two years. So why would I s**t on another female artist when we both getting s**tted on?

AllHipHop.com: Are there any interesting “wars” that you and Ludacis have been though?

Shawnna: Me and Luda are straight lyricists. We know how to learn from each other. And piggyback off each other and swap ideas. Like, we battle. We battle literally. Like if he goes hard, I’m like I have to kill that. And Luda knows that I am gonna go hard, so he’s like “I gotta do something that she can’t kill.” And I think that’s enough for people to buy into [Battle of the Sexes]. It ain’t weak and ain’t watered down. It’s lyricism. We stay rappin’- like…there’s nothing else to do now. We’ve put on all the jewelry, we’ve driven all the cars, we’ve flown all the jets, we’ve been to all the islands, shown all the diamonds. Now what? Lets get back to rap.

Shawnna makes ’em clap

AllHipHop.com: Whats a regular day like for you?

Shawnna: I’m a big kid at heart so I might play softball with my kids. Flying down the street in my motorized scooters. We go to the movies in 3D. Being in the industry, it takes a lot of time from your kids and time they deserve. So when I have down time, I’m making up for what I’ve missed with them. It all works out for me being a big kid. It was different with my dad, he was gone all the time and too tired when he came home.

AllHipHop.com: What about a man? Are you taken?

Shawnna: No, I’m not. I’m not. It’s cool. Me with being on a plane, or being in the studio at all times of the night, men don’t understand that. They don’t understand that I just left the afterparty at 4am and I’m going back to the hotel. [Men say] “Well why is it so loud? There’s n***as in the background.” It doesn’t work. They don’t understand the hours, the environment. Until I have somebody that really trusts me…everybody has somebody they can call [for an intimate moment].

AllHipHop.com: [Laughs]

Shawnna: As far as a companion…I don’t have that. [laughs] He’s out there somewhere. I’ll find him one day. And he’s going to enjoy my brand new, big ol’ booty.

AllHipHop.com: Uh-huh…yeah. I would think that you would have more people stepping up to the plate.

Shawnna: Let me explain something to you. N***as at home (Chicago) swear “She’s got a baller or a rapper.” The ball players and the rappers are like, “I know she got a hood n***a that got her on lock.” Honestly, I’m stuck here with nothing. They don’t even try me out. A lot of times, men be intimated. I guess that’s good, because a lot of guys, they just want to hit and I ain’t with that bulls**t.

Twista Denies He Impregnated P### Star Pinky

Rumors of sexual relationship between Chicago rap star Twista and adult film actress Pinky are “100 percent false and untrue,” according to the fast-rhyming entertainer.

Talk of the pair’s alleged relationship stemmed from the entertainment blog web site, MediaTakeout.com, which Twista accused of originating the rumor, as well as making “incorrect speculations” regarding Pinky being pregnant by him on its original posting of the item on May 13.

“I want to inform everyone that not only is Pinky NOT PREGNANT by me but I’ve never had any type of sexual encounters with her,” the rapper explained to AllHipHop.com in a statement. “I ain’t mad at her but thanks for promoting my new album, Category F5, which will be out in July”.

Twista’s denial of his relationship with Pinky comes as he prepares for the release of his eighth studio album, Category F5.

The project, which includes the single, “Wetter (Get It Wet Pt. 2)”, will all-star cameos from Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nelly, The Game, Fat Joe, Akon, TechN9ne and Busta Rhymes as well as T-Pain, Justin Timberlake, The-Dream, Nelly, Bobby Valentino and Static Major.

In an effort to protect family and friends from the fall out over the Pinky rumors, Twista said he decided to speak out and asked for fans to “respect them and my loved ones.”

In addition to denying the pregnancy rumors, Twista used the occasion to promote Category F5 as he cited his love for his fans as the incentive behind creating what he deems a quality product.

“The hustle never stops,” the entertainer stated. “Over the last couple of years, I’ve just been thinking about what the fans want from me. And that was motivation enough to bring out another classic album.”

TWISTA SHUTS DOWN THE PINKY RUMORS!

It wasn’t me, Twista said, according to contactmusic.com:

Rapper TWISTA has shot down rumours he’s expecting a baby with p### star PINKY, insisting he’s never had sexual relations with her. The Slow Jamz MC, real name Carl Mitchell, was alleged to be the father of Pinky’s unborn child, but he’s moved swiftly to dismiss the claims and distance himself from the adult film actress. He says, “I want to inform everyone that not only is Pinky not pregnant by me, but I’ve never had any type of sexual encounters with her. I ain’t mad at her.”

Pinky speaks on being fat. I really don’t care about this, but..smh…

ISN’T THAT SPECIAL!

I’ll be the first to say that I have no “street cred” when it comes to the laws of the streets. I ‘ve only had minor incidents with the law compared to people like T.I., but this just struck me as odd. Anyway, looks like we’ll be able to enjoy the lyrical musings of T.I, pretty soon since his time in home confinement will be counted as time served. This means that he’s only got to do about two months in jail when its all said and done! Tip heads to a low-security prison on May 26! It was a special deal for him in exchange for all those anti violence PSA’s and stuff like community service. T.I. has denied that any sort of snitching has occurred and he even kicked Alfamega as a testament to his principles.

WEBBIE IS A FIGHT?

I heard a rumor that Webbie was down in Baton Rouge and he ran into a lil bit of trouble. One of my sources tell me that he was at the mall and came into contact with a dude from Arkansas that had been using Webbie’s music to get paid and to promote on youtube. Well, I heard the guy was doing some promo running around and ran into Webbie. Webbie allegedly confronted him and they all got into an altercation. I don’t know how true this is, but there seems to be something to it.

RUSSELL SIMMONS IS SUING DEF JAM?

How is this even possible? Def Jam is celebrating like 25 years in the game and this huge slice of irony comes down? Check it:

Rumor has it, Dolla (Akon’s artist) was killed over a girl.

Not sure, but rumor has it, Swizz and Alicia are secretly planning to get married this year. He’d have to get divorced first.

There is a new chick on Cam’ron’s new album. Her name is Byrd Lady and I heard Cam signed her. Wonder if that’s a slight to Jim?

A Ma$e /DMX gospel CD? That’s the word!

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

I got this from the Associated Press:

A Louisiana middle school student stormed into a classroom and fired a gunshot over a teacher’s head Monday before shooting himself in a bathroom, authorities said. Investigators found a suicide note and plans for a rampage in the teen’s journal.

Well the distraught teen shot himself in the head and didn’t die. So, he had planned this massive rampage, but apparently just wanted to die. Not his day. He had a lot of mindless ramblings about being king and how others will die. He took his dad’s gun to school but just didn’t use it as planned. He’s now in critical, but stable condition.

Eminem: Relapse (Review)

“It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you, without a strong rhyme to step to.” – Rakim

The art of the comeback is a time-honored tradition of Hip-Hop—a rarely perfected rite of passage for artists aspiring to attain immortality. Eminem is fresh off a four-year hiatus, a sabbatical that has included an acute drug addiction and the loss of his best friend and mentor Proof. The Detroit native has seen more highs and lows in the last 15 years than the United States economy, but now he forges his own version of the Hip-Hop comeback with his fifth album Relapse.

The ominous piano on “3am” is the perfect reintroduction to Slim Shady’s twisted world. Five minutes of breathtaking word play and imagery so graphic it would make Stephen King blush should placate any doubts as to whether or not Eminem still ‘has it.’Through his trademark dark humor, Eminem’s “Insane” depicts stories of a child being sexually abused by his stepfather. And the uncomfortable laughter ensues on “Same Song & Dance” which details the artist’s “kidnapping” and “murder” of Lindsay Lohan and career Shady target, Britney Spears. The album is not without its faults, however. The Dr. Dre featured “Old Time Sake” is the kind of hokey-chorused dribble we’ve heard from the pair far too many times and “Must Be the Ganja” seems a little tame after 11 tracks of prescription drug musings. Eminem recovers with the self-aware “Déjà vu” and the tear-jerking “Beautiful.” On the latter, Em lets us inside his mind. “I don’t know how or why or when I ended up in this position I’m in I’m starting to feel distant again, so I decided just to pick this pen/ up and try to make an attempt to vent but I just can’t admit or come to grips with the fact that I may be done with rap, I need a new outlet.”

It is moving stuff. And therein lies the problem with Relapse. While it’s a truly enjoyable listen from beginning to end, it’s slightly unbalanced. The exclusion of a couple of Slim Shady’s murderous flow-fests in favor of more heart-wrenching reflective gems could’ve have made Relapse the perfect album Marshall has yet to craft. The beauty of Relapse is the fusion of Eminem’s styles from his four previous albums. The evolved wordplay and borderline horrorcore imagery of the Slim Shady LP, the pop-star-bashing and pill-popping banter of the Marshall Mathers LP, the soul-bearing honesty and precise flow found on The Eminem Show, and the playful accents Em dabbled in on Encore are all encompassed. With Relapse, Eminem has reminded listeners what captivated them about him 10 years ago and what held their attention for the subsequent six years. The vibe is fresh yet nostalgic—the ideal arrangement for a successful comeback. Em’s new album is a potent product, its time we all relapse.

Kanye To Headline Chicago ‘Stay in School’ Concert

In honor of the vision of his late mother Dr. Donda West, Kanye West has announced a second “Stay in School” Chicago benefit concert.

The event is sponsored by the Kanye West Foundation (KWF), which was created by Kanye’s mother in 2007.

The main focus of the organization remains fighting against the alarming level of school dropouts around the country.

The concert was originally conceived by David Abrams, a Highland Park High School sophomore in Chicago.

After forming the non-profit organization S.H.O.W. (Students Helping Our World), Abrams reached out to Kanye for assistance in using his music to advocate academic excellence.

The Chicago superstar was more than willing to oblige.

“I have always had the desire to help people and make the world a better place,” Kanye explained to AllHipHop.com in a prepared statement.

KWF CEO Joseph Collins reiterated Kanye’s stance, but emphasized the leadership shown by the Chicago students of S.H.O.W. in bringing the concert to fruition.

“I believe that youth are the music for creating a world filled with harmony. To create such a world, however, we must all do our part. This cause is directly in line with the mission of the KWF,” Collins told AllHipHop.com. “We see this event as a launching pad and long-term effort to help students in school. Immediately upon learning about David Abrams and S.H.O.W, we knew this was a good match. The fact that a young person chose to lead this effort and challenge his peers to do better in school is amazing and exactly what Dr. West envisioned when she and Kanye created this foundation. I believe these efforts directly support the vision Dr. West had for the organization and for America’s children. I see this concert as the seed that will allow us to ‘fulfill a mother’s dream.’”

The event will be taped by the national music network Fuse, and airs sometime this summer.

Kanye West’s 2009 “Stay in School” concert commences June 11 at the historic Chicago Theatre.

Tickets are priced from $49.50 to $500 for VIP privileges, and can be purchased starting this Thursday (May 21) at www.ticketmaster.com.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Who Is Yung Joc Gonna “Out”? Swizz Admits To Alicia!

WHO IS YUNG JOC GOING TO EXPOSE?

“I don’t really mean the image represented in this picture.” – Yung Joc

I know I need to get somebody on the typos, people. I know a lot of you don’t understand the dynamics of the news and rumor world, but I do. And the no. 1 factor is speed. I update no later than 9 am unless something is wrong. So, I opt to live with my evil typos for now. SWIZZ BEATZ COMES CLEAN!!! HE’S GOT ALICIA!

This is nothing new to us, but the mainstream got the quotes (New York Daily News):

“But we’re nowhere near ready for a baby or a ring,” laughs Swizz, aka Kasseem Dean. “This whole song is not about Alicia. The part about her cooking breakfast for me naked — she never done that for me.”

“What we have is so precious.”

Things are not completely squared away with Mashonda, but its cool to see Swizzster so happy.

MORE ALFAMEGA RUMORS

Well, there has been a good reason for why Alfamega hasn’t been talking. From what I’ve been told, he was arrested BEFORE the Smoking Gun story came out and durning the time T.I. kicked him out of the crew. At least, that is what I am hearing. Now, there is also some information that he may have been pushed off that parking lot garage and fell 30 feet to break his legs. I personally reported a ways back that he broke both lets, but then recent reports said it was an ankle. Now, it is back to his legs. I wonder if Mega has a case against the police if they indeed did push him.

THAT’S NOT THE OZONE CHICK!

There is a clip of somebody talking about Rick Ross in BED and its labeled as Julia Beverly of Ozone magazine. I’m here to tell you…its not her if you saw it. The confusion came about because its a 2 year old clip from a LIp Service show where Julia was being interviewed to promote the Ozone Sex issue, so her name is mentioned at the beginning. But the girl talking about Rick Ross is just somebody who called in when Angela Yee asked listeners if they had any groupie confessions. Julia doesn’t know about Ross’ bedside mannerisms.

Drake wasn’t there. He was paired up with these no skill havin Chicago

kats, minus Mikkey Halsted. At least put him on with some people who

have talent not just random people who paid for slots. Where was

Drake? He was at a club event that my friend was promoting which ran

from 10 to 2. Drake steps in to the venue around 2:30 as they announce

‘Drake has just entered the building’. I wait til about 3:10 til Drake

comes on and he does a 40 minute set. Don’t get me wrong, he was live

but the fact that he had us wait for so long killed me. He is a

humble, genuine, and honest dude but to pull something like that is

wack. Why would you take a club promotion over a show that you had

originally scheduled? On top of that, I walk out the show and head to

my parking garage only to hear three gun shots sound off. One dude

walks up to me and says ‘Man n#### was I hit?’. I then look as he

lifts his shirt up and he has a bullet wound in his ass. Drake, you’re

a good dude but you’re no Jay yet. You might be one day, but that day

hasn’t come so to play your fans like that is wack. I could wait all

night for Jay and be happy still, but what you did was really out of

your character.

Yours truly,

cozer

Here is one more Drake concert report:

Illseed,

I work for the hottest radio station in Chicago (Power 92.3, shouts to Nia B.) and I was at the Drake show. Now he did not hit the stage until 3 a.m. but he killed it! The H.O.B. was completely packed, I mean completely! cats were getting restless in the crowd before he arrived and a few people left before he got there but, the venue was open until 4 a.m. so to me it wasn’t such a big deal. Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Lupe Fiasco, Michael Jordan’s son (Jeffrey or Marcus), Noledge (Kids in The Hall) and a lot of Chicago industry people were in the building. Drizzy performed crowed favorites like; “Unstopable,” “Successful,” “Brand New,” “Best I Ever Had,” and closed the show with “Every Girl” and no b.s. the audience was singing word for word with the dude nearly every song. Doors didn’t even open until midnight or so and it was known that he wasn’t supposed to perform until 1:45a.m. or 2 a.m. anyways, so I don’t know why people were tripping…but long story short he came through ripped that s**t for an hour (killed it!) and and it was well worth the wait. It is clear that Drake is the next big thing in Hip-Hop and ultimately I don’t see any love being lost from my fellow Chicagoans…I did see this girl get the breaks beat off her but hay, this is Chicago!

PAPERS ON THESE GUYS?

Alfamega is one of the guys that got caught, but from what I am hearing another well known rapper might have egg on his street-wise face soon. Ever hear of a son of a b***h? Well, there is a rapper down south that they are saying is a “son of a s***h!” Now, it is rumored that this rapper’s dad worked at a nightclub and basically snitched on a lot of drug dealers. He’s still associated; I heard so no need to name names.

Not to be outdone, I heard there is a well-known NYC street mogul who is soon to be outted as some sort of government worker complicit in snitching. I heard there are “papers” out on this person and it’s a matter of time that it leaks. In fact, I heard a well-know rapper is probably holding that information very close on some “just in case” s**t. NOT revealing it is a stronger move than leading it out. Apparently, this keeps the street mogul in his place.

SUPPORTING AND PROTESTING OBAMAObama gave the commencement speech and got an honorary  degree over the weekend. He also managed to attract some detractors.

The Boston Celtics: Out and About (a look towards the future)

This just in: the World Champion Boston Celtics have been eliminated from the playoffs by the #2 seed, Orlando Magic. And if you’re surprised by these turn of events, you’re probably hugging your green “Brotherhood” t-shirt right now. How could this be? How could one of the most resilient teams in the NBA lose at home to the upstart Magic?

While some would say that not having Kevin Garnett (KG) — on the floor played a big part in their exit, those with any sense of how this game should be played would look at the structure of the Celtics and realize that a changing of the guard has been in effect since the beginning of the season.

Starting Point Guard, Rajon Rondo was described as a liability during the Championship run last year. Now, Rajon is considered a top-10 point guard in the league, a triple-double generator, and an enforcer of sorts. Just a short time ago, Glen “Big Baby” Davis was seen on the bench crying the tears of a clown because of his lack of intensity on the court. Now, his shooting range has expanded from 15 to 18 feet, he is becoming a terror under the board, and his clutch game in the final 5 minutes has surpassed any of his “Big 3” mentors.

Yes, you’ve read me right. The environment is changing in Boston, and there is nothing that any of the “Big 3” can do about it. All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce caught the NBA off guard last season, steam rolling their competitors on the path toward their first championship ring. And with each Game 7 they endured for that bling, the wear and tear on their nearing “past their prime” bodies leaked into this season.

Neither player can go hard for 36 minutes, let alone 48. The tale of the first 3 ½ quarters is a tale of conservation of energy and glimpses of their past greatness. Kevin Garnett went hard on Glen Davis after the loss of a huge lead, not because of the threat of losing the game, but for the fact that losing the lead so quickly meant he’d have to step back on the court without a full rest. Maybe KG knew something about his knee early on in the season that we didn’t.

Ray Allen, wow, what can be said about his game? Boston fans were hoping for the second coming of Jesus (Shuttlesworth) and to their dismay, they have a player that is lights out at a foul line that he hardly makes it to anymore. Ray once put fear in his opponents. His abilities to go clutch at the drop of a dime was the stuff that becoming legendary was made of. Now, defenses are bypassing his talents to defend the streaky Eddie House? Ray misses wide-open dunks, lay-ups and jumpers when an entire Celtics nation needs it most. I wouldn’t be surprised if his head is the first one rolling.

And the captain, Paul Pierce, the silent killer on the court, and the heart of this squad is a fighter still. Yet, he has to be the only player in the league that can score 24 points a game and you don’t remember any of them. His versatility on the court peeled away as the season went along. I’m sure he was playing through an injury because if he had left in his arsenal was on the right side of the top of the key for an elbow jump shot, his driving to the basket on that very same side, minus the explosiveness that made Pierce, “The Truth.” In a post-game interview, Eddie House took a risk by stating what many Boston – and non-Boston—fans were thinking: Rajon Rondo played more like the captain of the team; that the Celtics lived and died on how well Rondo played. Paul Pierce is a survivor and the current face of the Celtics. He just better not miss 20 games next season.

So here is what I suggest to the Celtics nation. Prepare yourself for the next surge three seasons from now. Because it is only a matter of time before Glenn “Big Baby” Davis, Eddie House and the recently injured Leon Powe are in the starting lineup. And the “Big 3?” Well the Big 3 will only be seen together doing the “Three Amigos Dance” on outdated Sportscenter commercials. The only saying is that, “All Good Things Must Come to an End.” In this case, those good things ended last season.

DJ Khaled Declares ‘Victory’ On New Album; Talks Best of Best Concert

Miami radio personality/executive DJ Khaled is preparing to work on a new album titled Victory, the follow up to his hit 2008 album We Global.

The creation of the opus is scheduled to begin after the release of Ruthless, the new album from rapper Ace Hood.

As for Victory, Khaled described the release as “something special,” while summing up the album’s guest list in two words: “Be ready.”

“It’s gonna be something new, refreshing, different,” Khaled told AllHipHop.com. “One thing that ain’t gonna change is me reppin’ the people. The thing that I plan to pull off with my album is some ‘How’d he do that.’ Quote yourself as saying ‘Am I really hearing this?’ Saying to yourself ‘Wow. I can’t believe this is being done in an amazing way. I’m about to make the most incredible music that’s ever been made… Right now, I got this vibe going. I’m in a zone, man.”

Khaled’s current mind state is evident in the title of the new album.

The WEDR FM radio personality feels that Victory continues the pattern established on past album titles.

“I made y’all listen on my first album. I let the world know we the best on the second album. And We the Best got so big that we turned into being global. So I let you know we global,” said Khaled. “And now the new album is called Victory. It’s time to celebrate the wins.”

Despite a busy schedule that includes time in the studio and on the radio, DJ Khaled is taking time off to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend in Miami as part of this year’s Best of the Best International Music Festival.

The fifth annual event, which will take place May 24 at Bicentennial Park, will showcase a variety of hip-hop and reggae stars.

In addition to Khaled, performers taking the stage include Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Bounty Killa, Beenie Man, Mavado, Cocoa Tea, Serani, Wayne Wonder, Elephant Man, Matterhorn, Capleton, Jabba and Ras Penco.

Grammy-winning rapper turned singer T-Pain will host the event.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the Best of the Best festival, which Khaled feels will be even better than last year’s event.

“This year is gonna be crazy. Every year has been crazy, but this year is gonna be crazier. We got more artists added to the bill. Jeezy is gonna be there as well as Bounty Killer and Movado … It’s the best of both worlds. It’s the best of Hip-Hop and the best of reggae,” Khaled told AllHipHop.com, while noting how much of a draw the festival’s ability to attract domestic and international fans.

“This year, the hype on it is getting crazy. People from the UK and England and the whole world is flying down. New York. It’s the whole world coming to Miami to be part of the show,” Khaled said.

Gates for the Best of the Best festival will open at 1 p.m.

The event’s first performer will hit the stage at 1:30 p.m.

The Best of the Best International Music Festival official after party will follow at Bongos nightclub and restaurant.
