The automotive industry in Detroit is under serious financial duress, but BET will highlight the positives with a television special.
The network will examine the North American International Auto Show with a 30 –minute one-off entitled “Still Rollin’: The 2009 Detroit Auto Show, “airing tonight (February 21) on the network.
The special, hosted by Big Tigger, will take a look at the hottest cars and the influence the Big Three has had on the African American Community in Detroit and beyond.
Producer Kimberly N. Cooper told AllHipHop.com that the show has relevance on a number of levels, especially considering the economic recession.
“Given the climate of where the auto industry is financially, Still Rollin’ is a great showcase of the strength and determination of the city of Detroit to persevere,” Cooper said. “Seeing top-ranking African – Americans behind the scenes is super encouraging and I pray that it inspires young people to think outside the box when setting the course for the vision of their future.”
Tigger will run down the Black community’s favorite cars according to some of the industry’s executives, including the Chrysler 300, and various other vehicles.
Additionally, BET will offer a glimpse at what can be expected in the future of cars, by unveiling new concepts and innovations in the auto world.
The show also covers the Auto Show Charity Preview- cars for a cause – with “Lifestyle Specialist” Kenny Burns.
Still Rollin’ airs on BET Sunday at 10 pm (EST) and 9 pm (Central Time).
