(AllHipHop News) Actress/writer/director Issa Rae keeps a lot on her plate. Besides starring in and producing the HBO dramedy Insecure, Rae has been working on other entertainment endeavors, including a Set It Off remake.
Issa Rae is reportedly moving into the music space as well. According to Variety, the 34-year-old Emmy nominee is partnering with Atlantic Records to form a new label called Raedio.
“Music has always been an essential part of every project I do and working with emerging talent is a personal passion,” stated Rae. “Raedio allows me to continue that work within the music industry and audio entertainment space. The Atlantic Records team are innovators in terms of shifting and shaping culture. I’m excited to join forces with them to discover new artists.”
The first release from Raedio arrives from Boston-bred singer TeaMarrr. A music video for TeaMarrr’s “Kinda Love” hit YouTube on October 18. The visuals feature cameos from Rae and comedian Jessie Woo.
Julie Greenwald, Chairman & COO of Atlantic Records, said she was thrilled to be working with Issa and called TeaMarrr the “perfect artist” to launch Raedio. Atlantic is also currently the label home for A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Don Q, Gucci Mane, Janelle Monáe, Kehlani, Kevin Gates, Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, Lizzo, Meek Mill, Missy Elliott, Trey Songz, Ty Dolla $ign, Wiz Khalifa, and more.
