(AllHipHop News) The Indiana Pacers are in New York in preparation to face the Knicks this evening, but one of the Pacers players was involved in a violent incident last night in the city. According to multiple reports, forward Chris Copeland was attacked at Chelsea’s 1 OAK nightclub early Wednesday morning.
The venue was holding an event featuring Detroit rap upstart Dej Loaf. Around 4 a.m. a man, later identified as 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary, stabbed the NBA player outside of the club. Copeland’s wife Katrine Saltara was also slashed during the melee.
Another woman named Catherine Somani was apparently struck by accident. Somani and Bleary were reportedly acquaintances.
Copeland and Saltara are said to be in stable condition at a local hospital. Somani was taken to another area hospital and said to be stable as well. The attacker has been arrested.
Atlanta Hawks players Pero Antić and Thabo Sefolosha were also taken into custody for reportedly obstructing justice and disorderly conduct. Authorities claim Antić and Sefolosha refused to move away from the scene when ordered by police.
Pacers president Larry Bird issued a statement about the attack against Copeland via the team’s certified Twitter account.
