Producers Play*N*Skillz continue to make moves in the industry, having just announced a new label deal for their G4 Muzik with Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records/Universal Records.
The producers will sign and develop new talent under the deal, while Rifkind‘s SRC imprint will handle the marketing and distribution of G4 Muzik via a partnership with Universal.
“We are extremely excited to be a part of the SRC/Universal Records family, Play from Play*N*Skillz told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (September 10). “This is an amazing opportunity for us to work with Steve Rifkind, one of the most influential record executives in the last 25 years, the same man who discovered the Wu-Tang Clan, Akon, Big Pun and Brand Nubian. For Steve, along with SRC President Gaby Acevedo to help seal the deal, on G4 Muzik is very monumental for us and verify’s that we are on the right track.”
The first artist under G4 Muzik’s deal with SRC/Universal is Dallas based artist Inertia, a lyricist who has opened for Paul Wall, Juvenile and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
“Play*N*Skillz have been trend setters for a long time,” added Steve Rifkind, Founder and Chairman, SRC. “The music that they make is incredible and they’re innate knack for finding great talent is very impressive.”
Play*N*Skillz consists of Dallas-based brothers Juan “Play” and Oscar “Skillz” Salinas. The pair have produced hits for artists like Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Nelly, Hurricane Chris, Slim Thug, Hilary Duff and others.
“This label deal will allow us to showcase our executives side as well as our creative and artistic sides” added Skillz from Play*N*Skillz. “All of our hard work is paying off and I am excited for the future of G4 Muzik.”
The first single to be released from G4 Muzik is Inertia’s single “Body” featuring Slim from 112.
The track will be shipped to radio nationwide in October.
