Red Bull Energy Drink will host the 2nd annual Lords of the Floor B-boy competition June 1st in Seattle. The event planners expect to attract B-girls and B-boys from around the world. Red Bull Lords of the Floor brings together the elements of hip-hop with dancers, DJ’s and emcees.
Red Bull and Bob Foxhoven, of Circle of Fire, created the competition as a way of granting exposure to the underground. “I’m doing it to follow through on my original vision – to create an innovative event that brings the underground world of urban dance to a new level, without losing its essence,” said Foxhoven.
J-Rocc of The Beat Junkies and Soul One of the DVS Crew will spin for the MC competition. Ken Swift of the Rock Steady Crew, who jedged last year as well, said being a b-boy/ girl is a special experience. “Hearing sounds and rhythms, absorbing them, dancing to them, singing and acting out some lyrics, believing you are the best dancer for that song or circle and losing yourself in a song – connecting to the music, primarily the drum. If you are doing those, to me, that’s ninety percent of being a B-boy.”
Advance tickets can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com for $12, and on the day of the event tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.
