(AllHipHop News) There is a growing possibility rap star Tekashi 6ix9ine will be a free man next week.
The Brooklyn, New York rapper was charged with one count of racketeering and 8 other charges for his role in a crime wave throughout New York City from 2017-2018 with members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
The rap star, born Daniel Hernandez, decided to cooperate with the Feds immediately after he was arrested on November 18th, 2018.
Earlier today (December 12th), Judge Paul Englemayer said he received a letter from Tekashi 6ix9ine, who is objecting to one possible aspect of the Probation Department’s guideline calculation.
“On its review of the parties’ sentencing submissions, the Court notes that defendant Hernandez objects to one aspect of the Probation Department’s guideline calculation, relating to his criminal history,” said Judge Paul Englemayer.
The rapper does not want his prior criminal history to influence his sentence when it is handed down on Wednesday.
Judge Engelmayer has ordered Federal prosecutors to submit a letter to clarify “whether it has any objections to the Probation Department’s guidelines calculation, and specifically to set out its position on the criminal history objection raised by the defense.”
There’s still a chance to Tekashi 6ix9ine could be sent to prison but it appears the Feds are leaning towards granting the rap star his freedom.
While he didn’t request a specific amount of time, lead prosecutor Geoffrey S. Berman submitted a glowing recommendation letter to Judge Englemayer, praising Tekashi 6ix9ine for his cooperation during the year-long investigation.
The rapper apologizing for wreaking havoc and dealing drugs, while his older brother Oscar asked the judge to give the rapper time served.
