Mickey “MempHitz” Wright Files Lawsuit Against VH1 and “Love And Hip-Hop: Atlanta” Creators

(AllHipHop News) Mickey Wright, Jr. p/k/a “MeMpHiTz”, intends to file a federal lawsuit against the creators and producers of “Love And Hip Hop: Atlanta,” according to his legal team.

“Ms. Pate has taken full advantage of society’s tendency to accept claims of domestic violence as always being true, even in the absence of proof. The only abuse that actually occurred is the malicious and calculated pattern of vicious lies Ms. Pate has assailed for the purpose of fabricating a compelling story line in an attempt to ruin my client’s name,” said attorneys Conti J. Moore and Alcide L. Honoré.

The suit includes Viacom International, Inc.; NFGTV, Inc.; and Monami Entertainment, LLC, the company owned by Mona Scott-Young.

According to the press release Wright is “suing the named Defendants for approximately one dollar per viewer per show for damages that stem from the defamatory statements and denigrating actions of cast member Kimberly Michelle Pate p/k/a ‘K. Michelle’.”

On the show, Michelle asserts vehemently that Wright violently beat her when they were in a relationship.

Alcide L. Honoré said, “Even the most ridiculous statements when repeated frequently become true in the minds of many. Ms. Pate’s preposterous claims, which include allegations that Mr. Wright mismanaged funds and caused her career to ‘flop’, have been adopted as truth by many followers of the popular VH-1 reality series.”

Wright said that he seeks compensation for the pain his family has undergone.

“My family and I have suffered tremendously while VH-1, Monami Ent., and the other companies provided a worldwide platform for K. Michelle to repeatedly assassinate my character,” he maintained. “The filing of this suit is to compensate for the irreparable damage that has been done to my reputation and to deter these companies from doing such future harm to others.”

Moore & Honore jointly said that they would defend their client in a court of law, particularly on the matters surrounding domestic violence.

“Domestic violence is an issue of serious nature, often having grave consequences for true victims with whom we all sympathize. However, it is unconscionable for one to play on the sympathies of the masses by levying false accusations of such heinous acts against an innocent party, simply for the sake of entertainment or for purported career advancement. After reviewing the evidence in this matter, we are prepared to litigate this case to the fullest extent of the law to seek justice for our client and to restore his name and professional reputation.”

finally!! get tired of woman who pull the he beat me line to damage reputations. Epspecially when there are real victims that suffer from this on a daily.

  2. GuestwithacapG

I know some women lie but for some reason, I believe k. Michelle. The previous tweets from this dude screams abusive to me. The way he talked about how he made her. Might as well have been Ike talking about Tina. Either way, I really don’t know if he has a case because he is never mentioned by name on the show.

    • DoinMe

I agree. Hell, most of K. Michelle’s whole story line was about this incident, and she was extremely emotional about it so I believe her. He basically outed himself on his tweets. He never denied it, only tried to smear K. Michelle like a typical weak n***a.

suing is the new fist fight, drive bye, jumping a niggah – but BUSINESS is a dirty game it ain’t like he can go put hands on her (again) lol – he doesn’t have any choice but to sue – and defamation of character/slander will get a check cut NO DOUBT

if she lying … i hope he get that VH-1 money – cuz something like this can send a already fledgling career in a downward spiral

if he lying … then karma gonna come around like a hula hoop

  3. Slaughtr

Most females don’t lie about getting their ass whopped by their man so to think K would fake some shyt like this just for the sake of good TV,BS to know many women are going through that would be worth an ass kick if she was fakin. Memph looks like a bitch ass sneaky nigga if K was my fam he definitely would be washing the feet of Jesus.

      • turqcrush

How do you know she is, K. Michelle may be crazy, she speaks her mind and tell it how it is or how she see it, while telling her story each time, she came across as telling the truth, her words were heart felt, her tears real, and she hasn’t changed her story, seems she is still healing, and telling her story will finally allow her to heal and carry on with her life, women hold things in for a very long time, I hope her healing has begun, and if he did this, it will be a repeat for sure, coming to a local news station and newspaper near you

    • turqcrush

sue for what? Exposing himself by twitter that he is the one she is referring to by making his comments saying he “made her”

  4. Adrian Barron

i doubt he really whipped her azz like she’s claiming – he might have restrained her – yanked her by her collar – push her down – but i doubt she got the PIMP hand – and i doubt it was on a regular basis – i ain’t never watched the show but some of my GET DOWN’s watch it and how they explain it – it didn’t seem all bad – if she didn’t get sent to the hospital, her eyes wasn’t dotted, teeth wasn’t missing then that’s what i call a PHYSICAL ALTERCATION (and those happen from time to time in a relationship) which is no where near abuse – the truth will come out

    K. Michelle or any of the other participants of the show were very careful to never call him by name. He has no grounds to sue the show. And he makes himself look guilty and like a “reverse gold digger” for filing a lawsuit. If he didn’t do anything, then his reputation is in tact. If K. Michelle has proof like she says (and I believe that she does), he’s in trouble.

    • Lyve Wire

like his lawers said, once the allegations are made, we are prone to believing them. sucks. ignoring them will do nothing. i’d sue too. look at his potential lost earnings.

  6. Jujubeads

Hmm, but he isn’t suing K Michelle directly for slander? Because if his name was really being dragged through the mud off of some unfounded bull, he would have went at her, not just the show. The show never said who he was. Even I had to Google around to find out who she kept referring to because I had no clue, just like I’m sure the majority of viewers did. Plus all the tweets he sent to her screams that he’s controlling and has abusive tendencies. What man tells a woman he ‘made’ her? Negro Please. I don’t know a single woman who’s lied about being abused, whether it was a simple one-time smack in the face or years of repeated incidents. Its some grimy chicks out here yea, but domestic violence is usually one of those things that women are ashamed of, and they tend to stay silent about it; physical, emotional and mental. IJS

I agree with you 100%, and what does K. Michelle have to gain by lying on him, I don’t see how his reputation was tarnished, I never knew who he was till Toya’s show, you can’t tarnish something that doesn’t exist. Once an abuser always an abuser, hope it doesn’t happen to Toya, he could be a time bomb, the right switch will set him off.

      • ladyjenkins

I was going to say the same thing. Who the heck was he before Toya’s show? Ain’t nobody checking for him. She was on the radio recently, and there are celebrities R. Kelly in particular who knew what happened and jumped in to help her at the time. I don’t think she was trying to hurt him, which would be why she doesn’t call him by name. She just wanted to share her story. She is on a show about people in the industry and people wanted to know who she was.

  7. sara

I truley believe K.Michelle was abused by him, whu would she be that damn emotional about something not true? Hell he making himself look guliy because his name was never mentioned on the show. If there is proof he fucked completely up. Rasheeda, Tamar, only saying they dont believe it cause they’re friends with toya and memphitz. None of them where there so keep your nose out of it. Memphitz a flop, Rasheeda also a flop, and tamar who are you again? Oh your sister tony braxton made u hot with a family show. Toua probably getting her azz beat too jux want say anything cause it proves that K.Michelle was right.

  8. Dat Bitch

K Michelle named to many people for her to be lying. Why don’t somebody ask Jive records what happened and if they say no comment we know who lying?

  9. Fabulous28

He’s full of it!! He did it he knows he did it!! His broke ass need some money. He know she bout to make that paper from her album he NEVER executed when he had the chance. Who would get on national tv and tell a lie knowing it’ll be consequences?? I hope those text messages she says she still have don’t surface.

  10. Link

Reading the comments just reinforced what Memph and his lawyers said in the original article… that if someone says something enough times, the sheep will begin to follow and repeat it, thus slandering his name. People don’t know K. Michelle from a can a paint, haven’t seen one piece of evidence yet believe her because she’s on TV telling it? That’s dumb as hell… and if dude DID beat her, why in the world would he sue while asking for proof? That would be dumb as hell too… so THAT tells you who story is more truthful.

      • Link

Which is what anybody should do when it comes to stuff like that… innocent UNTIL PROVEN guilty. Another article said that dude called the producers during the season and asked that if she continues to tell lies, then to furnish the proof on air or he would sue. She never showed proof, so now he sues… true to his promise to the show’s producers.

  11. King Cold

its too late. she already said his name on the show so its a wrap. this man is about to get paid a dollar for each viewer on every episode. thats big bank. imo i never believed k michelle because she had no proof, if she proof or at least pics like rihanna then id believe her. but no….i think shes lying just to build a rep for herself

  12. lyric

I believe K. Michele because Memphitz trying to say K. Michele was crying, screaming and hitting him. He said, he restrained her and cover her mouth because hotel security came top the door. He stupid for restraining her and covering her mouth. His wife Toya need to stay out of it because she was not there. Memphitz got Toya calling K out of her name and schizophrenic. If she was skiso he would be in real trouble and she would not have let it go.

  13. Kaja

I believe she wa s a victim of domestic violence by MempHitz. I was a victim and long as you are with that person you will sometimes hide the bad that they have done or are doing to you and its’s sad that we let it go on but just loving someone we hope that the relationship will work. It is not anything new just something that basically has been overlooked for years until someone is killed. It’s krazy but ppl stop saying she is lying on this man please! Abusers come in all different sizes, looks, races, and nationalities. It is just like drugs….IT DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE.

  14. Kaja

Sometimes you don’t have proof…pressure points…..internal bruises like getting choked out or kicked in your ass and hit in your stomach and there are plenty more and guess what? If you don’t have external bruises it’s hard to have that proof!!!!! I BELIEVE K MICHELLE WAS PHYSICALLY ABUSED BY MEMPHITZ!!!! I tell you what, she is not the first to be a victim of domestic violence and she surely won’t be the last but it is like half of society is in denial and just brush domestic violence off, REALLLY???? It is so damn real! Wake up

  15. breed500

those that disagree with dude follow the same pattern as the ones who do agree..most females will side with bi polar girl and most of the men wlll side with litigation boy..truth of the matter is..none of us where there to witness anything so it would be wise to reserve an opinion till there are some actual facts to back up either claim..until that moment..just pissing in the wind to me..besides..laywers cost money..you don’t get into sueing people without a reasonable chance of actually seeing some money or wanting your name cleared..she didn’t..he did..

  16. Jasmine

Its a smart move on his lawyers part to sue for defamation of character because they are probably hoping on a settlement check. Now if K. Michelle is telling the truth then his suit can be dropped but if her statements were false (like I suspect) she will be labeled a liar publicly. Basically if she has evidence then she is now forced to bring it to light. My question is where is K. Michelle’s police report, medical treatment record, etc proving it happened?

    • Jen

you must not have watched every episode of the show, k. Michelle never says his name in any of the scenes and even if she did VH1 would defientely cut the scenes before it premiered. K. Michelle also said in the earlier shows she was forced to be quiet about it for 3yrs after fighting her way out of Jive records (which im sure as a contract she signed upon release so the companies reputation would not get hurt) Secondly, memphitz being titled the abuser was published through blogs such as this one where the word spread. K. Michele has never directly tweeted or @’d memphitz at all (which im sure is a bi-law in her VH1 contract). Fourthly, VH1has been doing shows like this for eons, do you not think that they were aware of the backlash they may result? His little baby lawyers will not compare to Viacom or Vh1 as a company! But i will say I do encourage k. Michele to finally present the evidence and let this mess REST finally!

  17. fireball

Not true. I will have to check my tvo..but I recall hearing his name being used. Not to mention all of the radio interviews and online interviews that were done, using his name. The keyword here is the “platform” was provided by Mona…and Vh1. They should have placed a disclaimer across the screen stating that these statements are not supported by VH1 and are the views and opinions of others..etc. That would have covered them. Memphiz’s lawyers are correct in that this negativity defamed his character because many Vh1 viewers assumed this information to be factual and Kmichelle works for Mona and VHI. They have knowledge ahead of time related to the taping and editing of the show,. and her character. They allowed her to use this man’s image as a major part of her storyline. It’s wrong, and they profited from it. So should he.

  18. falipo

He would have had a better chance of winning if he and his birds had kept their moths closed. Now Vh1 can say that they caused their own damage by speaking on it first, on twitter. Lots of people didn’t know until he said something first. Then came all the birds chirping.

  19. Ibelieveu

I think he should do a lie detector test.. When he refuses which he will! it just confirms he’s not telling the truth.. Unless he’s on of those fools that take the test and think they will pass it..

  20. Liljwells

I didn’t know it was him until now….. DAMN nigga you beat that girls ass and now you wanna sue her too. That aint right~

  21. KD

This lawsuit is coming from the same dude who is the ‘executive producer’ of a new reality show based on hip hop groupies???? Oh….ok. I feel no sympathy for this n!gga!

  22. Taneca Lee

He might be hollin’ for proof cuz he knows none exists because he knows she didn’t press charges or take pictures. Some men deny deny deny cuz they know at the time the woman was not smart enough to protect herself in any kind of way. Believe unfortunately I grew up in a situation like this and I have a few friends who complain about the abuse but do nothing about it till it’s too late
