The Cast Of 'The Breaks'

Irv Gotti Goes In On VH1’s “The Breaks”

VH1’s “The Breaks” came with great fanfare and a star-studded cast that includes Mack Wilds, Chuck Chillout, Method Man, Wood Harris and offered DJ Premier on the movie score.

The movie, which will likely be a TV series, was inspired by the Dan Charnas book “The Big Payback” and had

Irv Gotti, a music industry vet, took it to the show claiming it was inauthentic to real Hip-Hop. A major issue Irv took was the portrayal of his native New York land of Queens.

Watching this Breaks Sh*t on Vh1. 1st off I didn’t like the commercials they was running playing the Bridge is Over and the part where KRS says Queens Keeps on Faking it!! So now when I’m watching this watered down bullsh*t which is pissing me off cause they are not portraying Hip Hop Culture accurately!! But they still making my Borough look soft. Let me tell y’all something. I’m from that Purple Part in the pic I posted. And listen. Ain’t nothing weak or soft about QB. And not only that @Vh1. QB has produced more superstar Rappers in hip hop than any other borough or place in the world for that matter. Sh*t looks like someone who doesn’t know sh*t about our culture made this sh*t. And usually I would have kept quiet. But after the commercial and me watching this bullsh*t sh*t on my Borough. I had to post something. And to all my Hip Hop Culture people out there. That wants to see REAL depiction of OUR CULTURE. Sit tight. I’m on my way!! And I’m not a hater. At all. None of that is in my DNA. I love to see ni**as win. But your not gonna disrespect QB.

If you take Queens out of the equation there would be no Golden Era.

  • STEPH

I’m watching it, and I’ll peep your shit Irv and I’ll get back to you.

  • TheTruthIs

Somebody is way too sensitive!! Ok,yes, they used an old KRS diss track from decades ago!! The movie didn’t have anything to do with making it seem like his borough was soft!!

  • JerZeBoy

I actually did notice that and wondered why they used that part….is there a motive behind the scenes we don’t know about?

The show is “entertaining” at best. As far as a real depiction of hip hop in NY 1990 the show is HORRIBLE. Why would you pick 1990 as the year anyway??? I woulda went with ’86-’88 or ’92-’95. Those were the golden eras. Yeah, the more I think about it the more it upsets me like it did Gotti. LOL!

  • out of all the shit he could have criticized about the movie, he’s beefing about the commercials? Clearly a 30-year-old song still burns his soul – you could have ranted about that to KRS while you were still hot in the game.

  • Papi Peligro

This ninja need to tell inmadopeydumbass to take that queens verified off his profile disrespecting the culture and heritage of queens.
