Hey can anyone tell me how much rappers get off of Itunes and downloaded songs? Like what percentage do they get from it and what do the record companies and Itunes and such get? I mean 2 million off of one song is a lot but what do they pay .99 per download so thats $2mill but then doesnt Itunes get a piece then The record company then Flo Ridas Record company then him so rappers cant make that much right?

itunes don't normaly take a percentage, but they make they money from labels buying up add space. So when you go to itunes and see those artist on the front page those slots are paid for buy the labels. The money from them ring tones go to the label which in turn goes to the artist. Flo rida dont need to sell a lot of records he killing 'em with single downloads.
So for the ringtone haters; Flo- made about 15 mil last year off of Get Low, according to Forbes.

OK I figured they just pay for add space. But it goes to the record companies I know but it doesnt all go to Flo Rida right? I mean Atlantic has to get a cut and then Poe Boy gets a cut too then Flo Rida gets a cut. So how much you think he gets off that 2mil downloads? If he had his own record company he would be making a lot more. I mean if he makes his own record company and just has him as an artist and doesnt have to worry about anyone else and buys his own recording studio to where he doesnt need to pay for studio time and then Atlantic will still help push him and distribute the records and give him promotional team or get your own street team and a good manager he would make a lot more. If I would him I wouldnt even worry about CD sales I would just put money to promote the songs and make good videos and keep selling a shit load of ringtones and downloads.

they get 9 pennies. it was going up 15 cents, not sure if it congress passed it or not. itunes was about to shut down over the increase. remember out of this 9 cents, songwriter and producer(s) must be paid also.
