(AllHipHop News) Cardi B is quickly becoming one of the brightest new faces to emerge from the New York City rap scene.
The Love & Hip Hop alum’s turn toward making music already earned her a Top 20 appearance on Billboard‘s Rap Albums chart and a BET Awards nomination for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.
Cardi was tapped to perform during the 2017 BET Awards After-Party show.
The Bronx representative ran through a medley featuring “Foreva,” “Lick,” and her latest single “Bodak Yellow.”
She also appeared on the cover of the Summer Music Issue of Fader.
“You gotta follow the trends, it is what it is. At the end of the day, you need to be with what sells,” stated Cardi in the publication’s story. “Sometimes it kinda crushes me because I wanna do music like how I like, but if it’s not selling and it’s not gonna work, then I’ll change my sound. I have a passion for music, I love music. But I also have a passion for money and paying my bills.”
So far, Cardi B has dropped two official mixtapes.
AllHipHop.com published the exclusive announcement of her first project – Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1.
“This mixtape signifies jumping out the window, taking a risk. The process has been amazing, but putting out my music for the world to hear is a super scary feeling. I just hope the world loves it as much as I do!” Cardi told AHH in 2016.“I hope they listen to the words and learn from the lessons and experiences I talk about in my music! I really hope they appreciate it! At the end of the day, I want young girls and women to listen to the message! It’s really simple, you can make it being yourself!”
