No I.D. Talks Beyonce Playing A Big Role In The Creation Of JAY-Z’s ‘4:44’ Album

“SHE’S GENIUS-LEVEL”

(AllHipHop News) A lot of the news covering JAY-Z’s new 4:44 album centered around his responses to his wife’s cheating allegations on her Lemonade LP.

For those wondering how much Beyoncé participated in her husband’s latest body of work, 4:44 producer No I.D. spoke about the superstar’s contribution in an interview with the New York Times.

“I always call Bey our de facto A&R. Pillow talk is the strongest conversation on the planet,” said No I.D. “Every song has to get past her ears, in my eyes. She came by a lot and played a good part in helping us get over hurdles on certain records. Of course she’s genius-level with that.”

No I.D. was asked if he and JAY ever spoke about the impact of Beyoncé’s Lemonade.

“No, we never directly spoke about that album. Mainly because if he talks about himself, it’s going to bleed into that regardless,” he responded. “But there’s a difference in talking about it for the sake of response and for the sake of honesty and the truth. The truth needs to explain why you are the way you are, why you did what you did. We know what happened. We got it. But what were the circumstances that led to this and how do you feel about it?”

While the album’s title track is an open apology to Beyoncé, JAY tapped the “Sorry” singer for vocals on the 4:44 song “Family Feud.”

The Brooklyn-raised emcee explained the theme of the collaboration with iHeartRadio.

“‘Family Feud’ is about separation within the culture. Like, new rappers fighting with old rappers, saying all these things. So, the line is, ‘Nobody wins when the family feuds’,” stated JAY.
