Idris Elba As James Bond Might Give Way To Something Newer

Aaron Pierre and Idris Elba are now part of the same high-stakes spy thriller. James Bond fanatics across the globe are now wondering what is going on. The whispers say that Pierre, star of the amazing movie Rebel Ridge, is now being quietly sized up as the next James Bond. That’s right. A new name has entered the chat, and it’s not Idris AGAIN. What The Helly?

But what about Idris Elba? The man has been trending on fan lists since Skyfall was in theaters. Bro has all the trains of a great James Bond: the swagger, the build and the temperament. He has long been dubbed the “People’s Bond,” but the reality is the guy does not want it. “I’m not going to be that guy,” he said back in 2023. I think he said that, essentially giving up. Remember, the blow-back was crazy.

So now we have Aaron Pierre, a younger man that has a lot of momentum. According Daniel Richtman, he’s now in consideration.  Pierre is 31, British, smooth, and popping! Watch Rebel Ridge on Netflix if you have any doubts. There is a business slant to all of this.

Pierre also fits Amazon MGM’s rumored mandate. They want a younger, lesser-known actor who can take on the franchise for the long haul. Keeping it real, I heard people in charge of the Bond franchise absolutely did not want a Black person. Maybe that has changed and there is good reason for that. People people out-index TV watchers. On that side, it makes great business sense.

There are others being considered, of course.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven The Hunter) reportedly screen-tested and may have even been offered the gig. Rege-Jean Page, another Black Brit, is in the running since shaking things up in Bridgerton. And then there’s Cillian Murphy, Henry Cavill, Theo James, Tom Hardy, Paul Mescal, James Norton and more. Basically, if you’re a British actor with a jawline and a passport, you have a shot.

Pierre is the leader of the pack though and he seems to represent something fresh. He could be a clean reboot. And honestly, the Bond series could use a bit of that. Roger Moore and his ol’ racist a$$ needs to be wiped off the map as the worst Bond!

Maybe…Idris Elba could be the villain? I am open to that!
