(AllHipHop News) The bridge and outro of Frank Ocean’s song “Rich Kids” from his debut album channel ORANGE may have landed the young singer into some copyright trouble. Ocean is being accused by TufAmerica of illegally sampling Mary J Blige’s 1992 hit “Real Love” for his song “Rich Kids”.
TufAmerica is suing Ocean’s record label, Def Jam’s parent lable, Universal Music Group and Vivendi over the alleged copyright infringement, however claim to own less than 4% of the copyright on Blige’s “Real Love”.
This is not the first time in the last 3 months that TufAmerica has targeted a Hip Hop artist with copyright infringement claims. Back in November of last year, the lawsuit-happy record label sued Jay Z, Roc-A-Fella Records and Atlantic Records over Jay Z’s “Run This Town” song allegedly sampling Eddie Bo’s 1969 song “Hook & Sling” illegally.
Frank Ocean is set to perform at this year’s Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington with Outkast, Kid Cudi, Chance the Rapper and more.
