(AllHipHop News) Houston rap star Chamillionaire is hoping to revolutionize the social media space with his new app, Convoz.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper who successfully transitioned into technology was an early investor in companies like Maker Studios and Cruise (acquired for $700 million and $1 billion respectively).

Chamillionaire showcased the new Convoz app during UpFront Ventures’ tech summit, which was recently held in Los Angeles.

During the summit, Cham, who is also an Entrepreneur in Residence at UpFront, pitched Convoz.

The rapper explained how developed the app as a video-centric platform to engage users in face-to-face conversations with celebrities and friends.

According to Cham, Convoz allows users to connect in a more personal manner than the current social media companies offer.

“Cham has embodied the typical founder journey you would expect from any dropout kid from Stanford or Harvard,”
VC investor, Mark Suster. “I would put him high on the list of startup founders who have a deep knowledge of the users they serve, what is unique about their app and how to build a product for scale.”

The rapper already has some serious backers for his new technology venture.

Snoop and Shaq made appearances during Chamillionaire’s presentation about Convoz.

In addition to Snoop other investors include Big Boi of Outkast and West Coast rap legend, E-40.

(AllHipHop News) The self-described King Of The South helped some Atlanta moviegoers experience the highly anticipated movie about the King of Wakanda. On February 12, Tip “T.I.” Harris headed to the Walmart store located on Cascade Road for a free Black Panther ticket-giveaway.

More than 250 people of all ages and VIP guests got to see the superhero movie set in a technologically advanced African country the following day. The Atlanta screening was sort of a homecoming for Black Panther because the motion picture was filmed in the city and reportedly generated over $83 million for the local economy.

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuva, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis. Ryan Coogler’s third directorial feature has garnered a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 87/100 score on Metacritic.

(AllHipHop News) In collaboration with the craft breweries Interboro of New York, Pipeworks of Chicago, and J. Wakefield of Miami, Run The Jewels will release their second craft beer. The February arrival of the Panther Like A Panther Stout follows 2017’s award-winning Stay Gold IPA.

2018 will also see the release of the Legend Has It Pilsner in April and the Down Double IPA in October. Additionally, RTJ is partnering with Berlin’s BRLO craft brewery to create a CBD-infused version of the Legend Has It Pilsner which is set to hit Europe on 4/20.

Each beer is named after a song from Killer Mike and El-P’s Run the Jewels 3 album. Their RTJ3 track “Legend Has It” was also featured in The Black Panther ad campaign for Lexus. The commercial premiered during Super Bowl LII.

Beginning March 1, Run The Jewels will join Lorde for the New Zealand singer’s 6-week North American tour. They recently appeared on BOOTS’ “Delete Delete” with Cristin Milioti as well.

(AllHipHop News) It’s been a decade since Chris Rock’s last full televised stand-up performance. The veteran entertainer is back with a new hour-long special for Netflix.

Chris Rock: Tamborine debuted on the streaming service overnight. Bo Burnham directed the program which was filmed at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Netflix reportedly paid the comedic legend $40 million for two shows. Rock’s last special was HBO’s Emmy-winning Kill the Messenger in 2008.

(AllHipHop News) Nipsey Hussle is in album mode. His debut studio LP Victory Lap is set to arrive on February 16, and the California spitter spoke with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe about the project.

In particular, Nipsey was asked about working with Kendrick Lamar for the “Dedication” single. He recalled how the collaboration came togther.

Truthfully, I sent him a record that’s on the album also. It’s called “Keys 2 The City 2.” My original concept – just based on us both coming out of L.A. County, him being from Compton and me being Crenshaw and Slauson – I thought the concept of “Keys 2 The City 2” really hit a bull’s eye for Kendrick. One of my producers, by the name of Axel Foley, works with Kendrick real closely. He did “The Heart Part 4.” He just snuck the record to Kendrick. I told my whole team, send the one that I thought he should be on, and they just didn’t listen and they sent “Dedication.” I saw Kendrick at the Tupac [All Eyez On Me] movie premiere as he was parking. I just hopped out, “what’s up bro?” and shook his hand. He’s like, “Yeah, expect the record back pretty soon. I laid something to it.” I’m like, “Alright, bet. Rumors began to circulate on why the Young Money star stopped social networking. Pregnancy, surgery, and other theories have all been suggested as reasons for Nicki being AWOL on the internet, but it appears she is just hard at work on her fourth studio album.

TMZ reports sources close to Minaj have confirmed she is leaving Twitter and Instagram alone to focus on her next project. The body of work is being labeled as a “masterpiece.”

Even though Minaj did not release a project in 2017, she did drop several singles and was featured on songs by other artists. (AllHipHop News) A spring break Party featuring controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is drawing outrage from local citizens.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is booked to play at Clayton’s Beach Bar in South Padre Island in Texas this March, but his criminal record and a reputation for violence have some questioning the venue’s booking practices.

The rapper could face up to two years in prison this April after he pleaded guilty to three counts of using a child in a sexual performance over a sexually explicit video from 2015.

In addition to flaunting his membership in the Bloods gang, the colorful rapper has also been embroiled in several beefs.

During one incident last week, gunshots were fired outside of a venue in Minnesota after a performance by the Brooklyn rapper, during Super Bowl weekend.

“Clayton’s Beach Bar was surprised to hear up & coming rap artist 6ix9ine was involved with an inappropriate video taped incident (3) years ago, when 6ix9ine was (18 years old) involving several teenage boys & girl,” the manager for Clayton’s Beach Bar said in a statement.

“Clayton’s supports the arts however does not condone any artists’ misconduct on or off the stage. Clayton’s venue plays host to all musical genres,” the statement reads.

So far, management has resisted calls to cancel Tekashi 6ix9ine 17 and over show, which is slated for March 14th.

“Let the people decide,” the venue said. “If they want to buy a ticket, kind of like the cinema if you don’t like the movie don’t go to the show, or you can protest the theater if it suits you.”

Last week, the rapper’s fearsome reputation led to the cancellation of a show in Easton, Pennsylvania.

A new installment of “House Party” will hit theaters, thanks to a new agreement between LeBron’s company SpringHill Entertainment, and New Line Cinema.

The latest film in the franchise will be written by “Atlanta’s” Steven Glover and Jamal Olori.

The first “House Party” hit theaters in 1990, and starred Kid N Play, Full Force, Robin Harris, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell and others.

The film was a hit, grossing almost $30 million at the box office during its run.

“House Party” also spawned several sequels, “House Party 2” in 1991 and “House Party 3” in 1994.

In 2001, “House Party 4: Down To The Last Minute” was released with no original cast members, and in 2012 a movie called “House Party: Tonight’s The Night” was released with appearances from Kid N Play.

No release date is set for the sixth movie in the “House Party” series of films.

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West wants to claim the trademark to his Red October shoes, the final ones he designed for Nike before his switch to Adidas.

Kanye and Nike bosses fell out in 2013 after a dispute over royalty payments and the delayed release of the Air Yeezy 2 Red October sneakers – which only arrived in shops after he announced a deal, reported to be worth at least $10 million with their German rivals.

According to U.S. Trademark and Patent Office records, the rapper filed papers earlier this month with the aim of obtaining the rights to the name for use in selling footwear and clothing, including everything from T-shirts and coats to bras and babywear.

Kanye, 40, previously sought the Red October trademark in 2013, before releasing the original Nike shoes, but his application lay dormant until he officially abandoned it in December – only to refile months later.

The limited numbers of Red Octobers released meant they became hot fashion items, with pairs selling for thousands of dollars on eBay.

Since teaming up with Adidas, Kanye has released six seasons of designs from his Yeezy brand, including wildly popular sneaker designs – and with his new trademark application, he looks to be reclaiming the rights to one of his most iconic Nike designs.

Revealing why he severed ties with executives at the U.S. sports firm, Kanye told American radio host Angie Martinez that the birth of his daughter, North, four, had made him determined to seek out a better financial deal.

“The old me, without a daughter, would have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nikes so much,” he explained. “But the new me, with a daughter, takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.”

“I’m more concerned about what’s going to happen to them when we look at racism and colorism around the world – that’s my concern,” he said.

A woman, who is from the U.K., claims she was violated by Nelly after a show at Cliffs Pavilion in Essex England in his dressing room, after a VIP meet and greet

According to officials with the Essex Police Department, they have formally initiated an investigation into the rapper.

The latest accusations against Nelly first surfaced in an amended grievance filed by a lawyer for a woman named Monique Greene, who first accused the rap star of raping her on a tour bus in Washington in October of 2017.
