Q-Tip Speaks On Lil Wayne, Big Boi, Nas, Joey Bada$$ & Freddie Gibbs Joining Zulu Nation (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) For the past week, several Hip Hop artists have been announced as new members of the Universal Zulu Nation. Q-Tip led the charge in revealing that Lil Wayne and Big Boi have become part of the Hip Hop organization, and during a Zulu Nation meeting this week, Tip spoke about Wayne, Big, and other recent inductees.

After addressing the tragic deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and Eric Garner and the perception of Hip Hop’s connection to their stories, Q-Tip confirmed that New York legend Nas, Pro Era front man Joey Bada$$, and Indiana emcee Freddie Gibbs are now all officially members of the Universal Zulu Nation.

Q-Tip said:

I’m gonna let y’all know about some of the new inductees and what our plan – and when I say our I’m speaking specifically about mine and 9th Wonder, [what] our chapter is trying to do for the Nation. To really put a stronghold out there, so that we can be active and not just be angry. Not just be emotional but have a real thing there for change, a real vehicle, a real structure.

So some of the inductees we had recently are Nas. He joined. Joey Bada$$ joined. Freddie Gibbs joined. Last week Lil Wayne joined… and today Big Boi from OutKast joined.

Royce Rizzy Ft. Wiz Khalfia – Hoe In You

After signing with Jermaine Dupri’s storied So So Def label earlier this year, Royce Rizzy’s seen his stock in thr game skyrocket, nabbing assists from K Camp, Twista and Dupri himself on the Determination EP, released in September. Now he gets one of his biggest co-signs yet, coming from Taylor Gang boss Wiz Khalifaon the new track “Hoe In You.”

With production coming from a veritable two-headed monster of Atlanta producers, Cassius Jay and Zaytoven, the pair of rappers are left to rattle off punch-drunk bars accentuated by auto-tune. Young Khalifa relies on triplets to give his verse a nice, choppy flow, and both him and Rizzy end up sounding great.

City Rominiecki is keeping it 100 about his rise to the top of Philly’s music scene. Recently, City sat down with Brandon Wyche of HipHopSince1987.com for a candid talk about life and music. City explained his philosophy on music, giving an in-depth view into the making of his latest mixtape, “T.I.N.A. (This Is Notta Album)”. “I marry them, divorce and find a new one,” says City about creating new songs. “You have to keep your mind open, or you’ll get stuck on one sound.” City also gave an honest account of his not so pretty life before his deal with OnDek Ent: “Honestly, I was homeless seven months ago,” says Rominiecki. “I was just getting music done as I could… from 18 to 25 I slept in parks and did all that.”

Jay Dot Rain – "Dozen"

Alabama native Jay Dot Rain is serving up a hot “Dozen” in his new 3rd Eye produced track. With a slowed down sample of Wu Tang’s classic C.R.E.A.M. joint leading us into the beginning you can’t help but get hype for the first bar to drop. Jay doesn’t waste anytime letting us know that even though most people are content with getting everything in single increments, he needs to cop the important wants and needs in life 12 at a time. While he is steady ducking the groupies and constantly scheming, Jay Dot Rain always makes sure he is working on his craft. His EP “Live From Rehearsal” is set to drop later this month and his upcoming album “Trap Jazz” will follow in 2015.

Nipsey Hussle – "50 N*ggaz"

The 2012 LP Careless World: Rise of the Last King was Tyga’s first under Cash Money/Young Money. His debut album, No Introduction, was released via the indie label Decaydance Record (now DCD2 Records) in 2008. The Gold Album: The 18th Dynasty was originally scheduled for release on December 23.

Missouri A.G. Wants State's Deadly Force Law Changed After Major Error During Darren Wilson Grand Jury

(AllHipHop News) As most of the nation focuses on the latest controversial grand jury decision in the death of an unarmed Black man by a police officer, the last highly publicized investigation is still being analyzed. The death of Eric Garner may be in most of the headlines at the moment, but many observers are still asking questions about the death of Michael Brown.

[ALSO READ: Mike Brown’s Parents Talk The Grand Jury Decision, Darren Wilson’s Testimony & More]

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell is one of the leading figures shining a light on the inaccuracies in the grand jury proceedings of Brown’s killer Darren Wilson. The host of The Last Word has spent significant portions of his show inquiring about the prosecution presenting the wrong law to the Wilson grand jury.

Assistant district attorney Kathi Alizadeh gave the grand jury members an outdated 1979 Missouri law that stated it was legal for a police officer to shoot a suspect that is fleeing. That particular law was ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1985.

When Alizadeh corrected her error weeks later, she did not explain the correct case-law to the grand jury. When a grand jury member asked for clarification about the Supreme Court decision, Alizadeh replied, “Just don’t worry about that.”

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has replied to O’Donnell’s investigative pieces. The former Republican, current Democrat, says the state now needs to amend its laws on police officer’s use of deadly force.

Koster told The Last Word in a statement:

Among the problems that Ferguson has brought to light is the need to update Missouri’s use of deadly force statute. This statute is inconsistent with the United States Supreme Court’s holding in Tennessee v. Garner. Consequently, it is important this statute is amended by the Missouri legislature to incorporate the Garner decision and to avoid confusion within the criminal justice system.

Andre 3000 Says He Felt Like A Sellout Because Of OutKast Reunion Tour

(AllHipHop News) André 3000 used his time on stage during the OutKast festival run to reunite with Big Boi, perform some of the group’s classic records, and express his thoughts on the world via his clothing. Dré’s 47 tour jumpsuits featuring social, political, and comical quotes have been included in Savannah College of Art and Design’s i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000 Benjamin exhibit at Art Basel Miami Beach.

[ALSO READ: Andre 3000’s OutKast 20th Anniversary Tour Jumpsuits To Be Featured As Art Exhibit]

André spoke with Fader about his tour outfits, and the “Hey Ya” performer revealed he did not go into the trek with the plan of wearing the jumpsuits. Dré was actually not that interested in touring at all.

“Honestly, just, you know—I didn’t wanna do the tour. We hadn’t performed in 10 years. It was old songs,” said André. “I’m like, How am I gonna present these songs? I don’t have nothing new to say. So I was like, maybe I can start saying new stuff while doing these old songs. It became a theme where I was more excited about this than the actual show. This is fun, running out in these.”

3000 was also apprehensive about the fans’ reactions to the Atlanta duo coming together for one last tour. The suits featuring sayings like “across cultures, darker people suffer most. why?” and “art of fart?” became his release from the concerns that core OutKast followers would view their reuniting as just a money-making venture.

“I felt weird about going out on stage and doing it again. I felt like people would be like, ‘Y’all are doing all these festivals, y’all are just doing it for money,'” said Dré. “And I felt like a sellout, honestly. So I was like, if I’m in on the joke, I’ll feel cool about it.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Katt Williams And Hazel E An Item?

This is a joke right?

I saw something about this particular rumor a few days back, but I didn’t pay any attention to it, but I guess the rumors are true: comedian Katt Williams and Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood’s Hazel E are a couple.

Hazel confirmed the news with Sister 2 Sister magazine a few days ago, saying their relationship was still new and fresh.

“After giving her a shout out on stage at one of his comedy shows in Ohio, Hazel E realized Katt’s special acknowledgement raised eyebrows and confirmed the two were an item.

“We met through a mutual acquaintance at an event at The London Hotel in Hollywood. Our relationship has been official for a few weeks,” Hazel E revealed to Sister 2 Sister magazine.

“It’s still new, exciting and refreshing. I still blush when I see him and that’s every day,” Hazel told Sister 2 Sister. “It doesn’t hurt that he is the funniest man on the planet. I cry laughing all day.”

Katt also went on record saying, “I’m excited. She is a beautiful person and she brings a lot of positive energy to my life.””

I think I’ve officially seen and heard it all.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Wiz Khalifa Making A Freaky Flick?

Wiz and Amber are officially divorced and Wiz is doing the most to say the least. From the purple hair to the odd shower pic, lately he’s just been kinda…out there.

This week Wiz stripped down once again and is posted up with Playboy model Carla Howe in a few provocative poses…

Reported Police Officer: Cops Are Being Indoctrinated To Support Illegal Activity

(AllHipHop News) In the wake of the grand jury decision to not indict New York Police officer Daniel Pantaleo for the killing of Eric Garner, a lot of attention is being placed on the training (or lack of) for how cops interact with citizens. In particular, the appropriate amount of force used by police against minorities is being discussed.

[ALSO READ: No Indictment For Officer Involved In Eric Garner’s Death; Officer & Family Release Statements]

One man who claims to be a police officer called into Power 105’s The Breakfast Club radio show this morning, and he claimed that the actions of officer Pantaleo and a call to cover up wrongdoing is an indication of a systemic problem in the department.

“As an officer, we’re being indoctrinated in the precincts, in the rolls calls, were being told we have to support this. We have to show the face of unity – the blue wall, ” said the caller.

He also expressed his belief that Pantaleo should be facing charges for Garner’s death. The choke hold maneuver the officer used on Garner during the incident has been banned by the NYPD.

“The choke hold is illegal. Bottom line. The choke hold contributed to his death it was illegal,” he added. “Even if he was resisting the choke hold is illegal. He could have used other forces to take him down.”

When asked if it will be a time when a police officer would be indicted in a case where a citizen has been killed, he responded, “There’s very few situations. We’re being indoctrinated to support illegal activity. We’re being told unofficially to support this.”

Nem – "Vice"

As the year draws to a close, artist/songwriter/producer Nem emerges from Miami to release his first single Vice, a drug-induced record fusing melancholy sampledvocals over nostalgic 80’s synths courtesy of Nova. Nem vividly paints a picture of his encounter with a girl, who is up for trying anything to give herself a high.

The song seems to take inspiration from the music in the dark yet colorful 80’s tv series based in his city, Miami Vice. His project is currently untitled but will be releasing 2015.
