Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Kanye Having Corporate Woes?

Honestly, I didn’t get into the Yeezus album or anything, but I do know that Kanye has been rallying against all sorts of evil forces and sellouts and corporations and all kinds of stuff. He deemed those that succumb as the “new slaves.” Correct me if I’m wrong. Well, it seems like this may be biting Kanye in the butt, as new reports emerge that he’s having issues getting corporate sponsors. Looks like that Pusha T rant was the straw on the proverbial camel’s back.

New York’s Page Six speaks on it:

While Kanye West seeks partners in corporate America for his cultural projects, fallout from his epic rant at a listening party for rapper Pusha T isn’t helping him win over the big brands.

We hear West is seeking sponsors for his various creative endeavors, including his guerrilla-style music performances, art installations and fashion line. But West hosted a listening party last week for Pusha T’s new album, “My Name Is My Name,” at Industria Studios, and commandeered the microphone to embark on a expletive-filled rant against “corporations” and “sellouts.”

“I don’t give a [bleep] about none of these corporations, none of these [bleep] sellouts, this [bleeping] Pusha T,” he yelled.

Even worse West admitted he was “a little off that Goose right now,” supposedly referring to Grey Goose during his rant — even though the party was sponsored by Hennessey. Then the next day, West missed a Hennessey-sponsored birthday party for rapper Nas, which left Hennessey brass disappointed, sources told us.

We hear West’s actions aren’t helping him make friends in the corporate world. “Sponsors are scared away because he’s so unpredictable,” said one insider. A rep for West didn’t get back to us.

Wow. The corporations don’t get it. Yeezy didn’t mean YOUR CORPORATION!

We need to come together to change this.

Hip-Hop Rumors: So Why Are Drake And Nicki Beefing?

Personally, I didn’t even know that they were beefing or at least have issues with each other. On his new album, Drake says:

Paperwork takin’ too long, maybe they don’t understand me/
I’ll compromise if I have to, I gotta stay with the family./
Not even talkin’ to Nicki, communication is breakin’
I dropped the ball on some personal sh*t, I need to embrace it./
I’m honest, I make mistakes, I’d be the second to admit it /
Think that’s why I need her in my life, to check me when I’m trippin.’

Now, I know you guys see and hear more than I do these days. So, does anybody know what is going on with this? I bet, more than anything, its nothing but egos clashing or some rich dude stuff like that. These people don’t generally beef over things of substance. Drake be doing those “cry for help” raps so I’m sure this is the first step to them having a big make up session in front of like 50,000 people at The Barclay Center or something glamorous. This all played out on “Tuscan Leather,” which is one of the better tracks on Drake’s album.

This can’t be life.

They faked marriage…this has to stop.

Or, is this another prank.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil Cease, Jr Mafia Petitions for Christopher Wallace Way in Brooklyn

It was all good for the Junior Mafia back in ’94/’95 but they disbanded following Biggie’s death in 1997. Despite the fact that they haven’t been a group in a long time, they’ve decided to come back together for a good cause–immortalizing the Notorious B.I.G. on a Brooklyn Street.

A petition has been started to rename St. James Place, where Biggie grew up, to Christopher Wallace Way. Sign the petition over at Change.org.

In related news, Junior Mafia, who now go by Mafia Dons are preparing to release the upcoming mixtape entitled, Riding for the King.

P.S. I’m definitely signing for Biggie the Kaaaaang.
