(AllHipHop News) In 2013, no other rap artist covered as much ground or worked harder on the road than Kendrick Lamar according to Songkick. According to Songkick, Kendrick Lamar is the hardest working touring rapper of the past 12 months.

The live music tracking site Songkick tabulated every artists’ number of shows performed and distance traveled to rank the hardest working artist of 2013. The only other music act to top Kendrick’s total is fellow L.A. residents Local Natives who played 188 shows and covered 192, 486 miles.

Kendrick Lamar has been on Kanye West’s Yeezus tour since mid-October and plans to finish up on December 23rd at AirCanada Centre. However, Lamar will only be off the road for three weeks before joining Eminem and J. Cole in Auckland, New Zealand on February 15th.

Hip-Hop Rumors: LaTocha Scott Working on Spinoff Show?

Y’all know Latocha Scott from Xscape. She resurfaced again on R&B Divas (season two), where she was consistent with the Nicci Gilbert side eyes. Anyway, season three is in the work’s but LaTocha Scott’s name was absent from TV One’s cast announcement but that might be a good thing for her.

Word on the street is, she and her husband Rocky Bivens, another music industry OG, have been pitching a spinoff show about their lives. The show would follow them in their marriage, as business partners (since Rocky manages LaTocha) trying to revitalize LaTocha’s music career, and raising their teenage son who according to Derrick Rose, their family friend,  has a good shot at making it to the NBA.

If all goes their way, they might end up on the Vh1 circuit but that still remains to be seen because nothing is set in stone just yet.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did People Get Fired Over #AskRKelly?

#AskRKelly

Mannnnnn…that R. Kelly situation on release day Tuesday was such a blasted fiasco, I am hearing people are on the chopping block. R. Kelly is put out by RCA Records and his new album, Black Panties, has people talking a lot. But, some of this is for all the wrong reasons. Read below if you have been under a rock.

Hip-Hop Rumors: #AskRkelly Gets R. Kelly DRY ROASTED On Twitter

Anyway, I am hearing, whoever came up with this #AskRKelly is getting let go, because the debacle produced such a negative ripple of press for Kellz. It simply reacquainted people with golden showers and other such behavior. I’m hearing the album is pretty good. Maybe Kellz will split a bit from his past.

The Giving Tour With Ne-Yo

The Giving Tour is an annual partnership between Ne-Yo , his Compound Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club of America.  The tour gives Ne-Yo the opportunity to give back and make the holiday season special for some less fortunate children in foster care and group homes in multiple cities across the country.

This year the tour visited New York, LA, Las Vegas and finished in Atlanta. While in Atlanta Neyo treated 0ver 400 underprivileged children to toys, clothes, shoes, bikes and electronics. The Grammy award winning singer/songwriter also took pics, signed autographs and interacted with all the kids in attendance. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Kandi Burruss, Keyshia Knight-Pulliam, Deon Grant, Toya Wright, Reginae Carter, Nicole Lyons and Bobby V all came out to show support.  While at the event we got a chance to talk to Neyo about his Compound Foundation,The Giving Tour and the importance of giving back.  Check out what he had to say in the interview below:

Talib Kweli Says “NY Radio Doesn’t Support NY Music” + Hot 97’s Ebro Darden Responds

(AllHipHop News) Ever since last year’s big debate over New York City radio’s apparent support of local acts, the dialogue has not ceased but intensified. Yesterday (December 11th), Talib spoke with SOHH sided with Trinidad James’ sentiments on New York City radio.

While not explicitly supporting James’ “South runs NY” comments, the veteran MC does perceive James’ statement as a commentary on the state of New York City radio:

Trinidad James is right, when you listen to New York radio, New York radio does not support New York music. That’s what he was speaking to.

Kweli also states that Maino, a vocal detractor of James’ comments, does not solely make New York Hip Hop but also “does music down South too.” An added reason why Kweli is sharing James’ comments is the fact that he himself made similar statements on his personal Twitter account and was criticized for them. The criticism Kweli may be referring to is that from Hot 97’s Program Director Ebro Darden who responded to Kweli’s comments three hours after the article was published:

Kweli has since asked to thoroughly discuss his comments and Ebro Darden’s “troll” accusations with the Hot 97 Program Director either on air on Twitter:

Talib Kweli’s sixth solo album Gravitas, will be released this Sunday (December 15th).

WTF News: Desmond Tutu’s Home Robbed While He Attended Mandela’s Funeral

Some people have absolutely no chill.

South African police say Desmond Tutu’s Cape Town home was robbed while he was attending a memorial in honor of Nelson Mandela (in Soweto Township of Johannesburg), according to the Associated Press. The robbery took place on Tuesday between 7pm and 9pm while Tutu was in Soweto township of Johannesburg.

Authorities say the investigation is on going and that no arrests have been made.

The 82-year-old Tutu had his home robbed in August as he and his wife slept inside but both were unharmed.

Apparently, burglaries and home-invasions happen a lot in South Africa.

Well, damn.

Hip-Hop Rumors: ‘Bad Girls Club Season 12’ Airing in Chicago?

Every now and then the Bad Girls Club branches out beyond LA and experiments with other cities. They’ve done New Orleans, Miami twice and Cancun but word on the street is, Chicago is the next hot spot. I overheard rumors that the girls lived in up in Highland Park, an upscale suburb located just outside the city and that they terrorized Chi streets (the good parts where they won’t get mirked, that is) the entire summer.

Residents weren’t too thrilled but it allegedly still went down anyway. I’m even being told that there’s a wannabe Tanisha (except she’s from the South) in the bunch.

Oprah Winfrey: I Don’t Have Kids Because They Would Hate Me

(AllHipHop News) Oprah Winfrey has amassed a $2.9 billion fortune, had a nationally syndicated talk show last for 25 years and basically has it all, except children. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the iconic mogul explains how her ambition prevented her from having children.

Oprah admits that while her best friend and mother of two Gayle King was picking the names of her future children, she was having “daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King.” This unwavering passion and her subsequent decades of success are the primary reasons Oprah has never had children:

They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.

Today (December 12th), the full list of nominees for the 71st annual Golden Globes were announced and surprisingly Lee Daniels’ The Butler was completely shut out. The Hollywood Reporter interview happened months before the nominations were announced, however Oprah sensed Hollywood was still not keen to her even after her critically acclaimed performance in The Butler:

That’s the reality of being 59 and female, not to mention a woman of color.

The 71st annual Golden Globes will take place on January 12th.
