T.I. Teams With Rev. Al Sharpton For Harlem Anti-Gun Rally

Grammy winner and multi-platinum artist T.I. will utilize his non-profit K.I.N.G. foundation next week to hold an anti-gun and violence rally in Harlem, NY.

Assisting the Atlanta native’s endeavor are Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, the LIFE Camp, and the Political Swagger Foundation.

Announced as “Responsibility is a Lifestyle: it’s Time to Bury Da Beef,” the involved groups plan to initiate a “call to action to engage elected officials, community organizers, artists, and every American citizen to accept responsibility to build safer communities.”

The pertinent declaration from these organizations came after statistics from the Center for Disease Control revealed that 16 youths (aged 10-24) are killed daily from gun-related violence.

Recently, a 13-year-old child was fatally shot in the head on a Harlem street corner. In Queens, a double-homicide claimed the lives of a 17 and 19 year old.

Since being convicted of several felony weapons charges last year, T.I. has spent the majority of his time traveling the nation and speaking out against guns and advocating education.

In 2006, a shooting claimed the life of T.I.’s best friend Philant Johnson, who was murdered in front of rapper following a post-concert dispute.

The rally/press conference will take place on Monday May 11 the National Action Network building, located on 106 West 145th Street and Lenox Ave (Malcolm X Blvd), New York, NY 10039. AHH Stray News: Snoop Dogg Surprises New Orleans Students

Snoop Dogg made an appearance at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary school yesterday (May 7), where he offered the young students positive encouragement and words of advice. The rapper appeared at the school with Rev. Toris Young and the Louisiana Ministerial Alliance of Churches For All People. Young is currently coordinating a program in New Orleans to keep young people off the street and to encourage positive behavior. Snoop was in town for a concert last night, but prior to hitting the stage, he visited two local schools, with Kurupt and Soopafly. Snoop explained his troubled past to students and offered solutions to overcome negative situations in the future. He also spoke at Frederick Douglass High School. Rev. Young himself was the subject of headlines last month, when his criminal background was called into question in regards to C-Murder’s trial, which jeopardized the rapper’s house arrest status.

The Last Word: Another Michael Jackson Lawsuit, Eddie Griffin’s Bounced Check, and Nicole Richie As a Rapper?

What’s the word good people?  The week is gone and the weekend calls. And all we have to

show for it is LeBron getting MVP honors, Connie Culp, the first face

transplant recipient, making her first appearance since her groundbreaking

surgery and Miss California still caught up in scandal with semi-nude pictures

surfacing.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of comedian Dom

DeLuise, who died Monday. Shout out to Damien and his wife, Hope, who

celebrated their third wedding anniversary this week as well as my mother,

grandmother and all the mothers out there who will be receiving a lot of love

on Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day!

Once again, it’s time for…the Last Word for the week ending

May 8, 2009.

1. Michael Jackson Catches Lawsuits from Publicist and Thriller

Video Vixen

Michael Jackson’s past is starting to catch up to him.

Again. This time it’s his Thriller video

co-star Ola Ray who wants a piece of the King of Pop.

Ray’s attorney tells TMZ.com that the former Playboy playmate is suing Jackson and his production company

for breach of contract. The suit stems from claims that Ray hasn’t been paid

royalties from the influential video.

The only thing with this is that Ola isn’t sure exactly how

much she’s owed, according to TMZ, which stated that the video vixen’s

accountants  “will figure that

out. “

And to make it even more a stellar week, Michael gets

another lawsuit thrown at them. This time from his publicist. The Associated

Press reports that Raymone Bain is suing

Jackson for $44 million plus attorney’s fees over claims the singer didn’t pay

her for negotiating the release of his Thriller 25th anniversary CD, refinancing his loan to keep the

Beatles’ song catalog, and negotiations that led to Jackson’s upcoming sold-out

concert series in London.

Overall, Bain worked more than five years for Jackson, who

appointed her as his personal general manager as well as the head of the

Michael Jackson Co. Inc. after two years of employment. To add to the

situation, Bain claims that she also did a lot more things for Michael such as

arranging his housing, paying his bills, saving him from foreclosure making

sure he eats everything on his plate and doing his business properly in the

bathroom. OK I made up the last two, but still if you ask Bain, there’s no beef

at all.

“Despite the action I have been compelled to take for

professional and business reasons, when looking back, I have no regrets,”

Bain said in a statement issued Wednesday (May 6). “Michael Jackson, in my

opinion, is the ‘King of Pop.'”

So let me get this straight. You work for the man five years

and after two years, you get promoted. In this day and age, the first thing

most people ask about is the pay as soon as the promotion is given. The big

question is how long do you work for free?

2. Zoe Saldana Gets Acting Tips From Mom

Looks like mother and daughter have bridged the generation

gap. At least when it comes to the new Star Trek movie for Zoe Saldana, who is on her way to a big payday as well as

being the apple of many a Trekkie eye.

All this for someone who was hesitant to take the role

Nichelle Nichols made famous.

Thank goodness for mom, who persuaded her daughter to sign

on for the prequel.

“My mom was absolutely ecstatic when I got the role.

But when director JJ Abrams offered it I was sort of afraid of saying yes,”

Saldana told WENN. “My mother was like, ‘Zoe, are you crazy? It’s Uhura!’ She

was like, ‘Oh my God – you have to do it!'”

Needless to say Saldana’s mom continued to guide her

daughter as she had her own unique way of helping the actress get into her new

role.

“She read the script and she’d call and leave these

funny voicemails,” Saldana said. “She’d say, ‘Zoe, it’s Mommy. For this scene,

Uhura is concerned. Please play her hard.’ She was the best acting coach, I was

like, ‘Thank you, Uhura expert.'”

And with that comes the end of another episode of Mother

Knows Best.

3. Eddie Griffin Catches Flack for Alleged Bounced Check

This week has not been good for Eddie Griffin, who is the

latest celebrity at the center of a new lawsuit. According to TMZ the comedian

is coming under fire over a bounced check he wrote for $150,000.

Griffin presented the check to Jamaica 360, a program that

sends 100 African American college graduates on a career building vacation to

Jamaica. In the suit, Samir Sayegh claims that he was tricked into lending

Griffin his credit card to cover a hotel bill while they were in Jamaica.

Instead of paying the bill, the suit states that the entertainer took the card

and secretly made a $150,000 charge to the main developer of J-360.

Two weeks later, the charge was found on an American Express

bill Sayegh got. As a result, American Express is suing Sayegh for the $150,000

charge. Thus creating Sayegh’s lawsuit against Griffin and Jamaica 360 for the

money to pay the bill.

Although the deck seems to be stacked against Griffin, the

comedian’s lawyer is sticking up for his client by saying “Eddie is

denying all allegations.”

4. Nicole Richie Recalls Past Rap Star Aspirations

As Paris Hilton’s former BFF and Joel Madden’s baby mama, it’s

safe to say that Nicole Richie has found a more quiet life away from the

Hollywood party spotlight. But would you believe that Lionel’s daughter had

dreams of being the next big feMC.

“When I was 10 years old, I was in an all girl Hip-Hop/rap

group,” said Richie, who received support from Lionel and his ex-wife Brenda

while perfecting her rhymes and starting an all girl rap group during her

childhood. “Our name? get ready… CAUTION! It was me and my two girlfriends; but

they were 13 so they made me audition. I was soooo excited when I got in!”

And while the thought of a group full of pre-teen rappers

may have been cause for jokes, Nicole took it seriously. So much so that she

wanted her parents to co-sign for her as she tried to get a record deal.

“All I can think of is the three of us going up to my

mom and singing her our first song. We were dead serious,” Richie wrote on her

website as she recalled part of those early raps the group created. “The rap

lyrics I remember were: Caution! Walking down the street./You better watch out,

and step to the beat/Playing our music from town to town/Rockin’ and Rollin’

were gonna get down!

“My poor mom had to sit there with a straight face and

watch us perform,” Nicole continued. “We asked her to find us a manager.”

I guess Brenda took heed to the caution spared us the agony

of Nicole, America’s Next Big Rapper.

But who knows what would’ve happened. Maybe Paris could’ve played the Lil Kim

role and added some freakiness/crossover appeal to go with those rhymes

5. Halle Berry and Tyrese Ready for Another X-Men, Fast

& Furious Close Up

Money issues may have prevented Terrence Howard from getting

in on the Iron Man sequel, but it’s a little different story for Halle Berry,

who is trying to re-up with another run as X-Men heroine Storm. According to reports the actress wants to star in an X-Men

Origins movie.

Her fellow mutant co-star Hugh Jackman is enjoying the

success of the first picture in the series, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which became the number one movie at the box office

last week with $87 million pulled in the US.

“I think that would be great,” Berry said, as she

thought about the prospect of controlling the weather again in another action

adventure. “Storm deserves her own movie – if I can still fit into the

suit.”

Halle isn’t the only one trying to revisit a famous

character and movie franchise. Tyrese Gibson is making it known that he wants

in on the next Fast & Furious film,

despite his decision to not do sequels to the series after starring in 2003’s. 2

Fast 2 Furious. The fourth and latest

chapter in the car racing franchise, Fast & Furious, proved to be a certified blockbuster with $72.5

million made in its opening weekend last month.

 “Listen,

love Fast and the Furious, love the

numbers it did, love the cast. If my phone rings for five (the fifth

installment) I’m right there,” Tyrese told Starpulse.com. “They were all

beating the door down to try to get me in four. Would’ve loved to have been a

part of it. Didn’t work out for whatever reason so my phone is wide open for

five and I would love to do it.”

Stay tuned….

In Other Words…

* Although he’s garnered fans for his portrayal of The

Haitian on NBC’s#### show Heroes, Jimmy

Jean-Louis is bringing those noble traits into a real-life opportunity to save

lives. The actor is currently working with the Pan American Development

Foundation for a new charity he’s set up to help an estimated 200,000 child

victims of trafficking, forced labor and exploitation in Haiti.

Through the charity, campaign leaders hope to raise

awareness and funds for youth affected by exploitation.

“The exploitation of children is a stain on human dignity.

It is within our reach to create a better future for these children,”

Jean-Louis told WENN. “We’re talking about children as young as seven or

eight years old who are the victims of exploitation. They should be riding

bikes and going to school. Instead, they are kept out of school. Some children

are exposed to violence. Others are forced to live in horrendous

conditions.”

* How’s this for job security? A single episode hasn’t aired

yet and Fox has already ordered a second season of the Family Guy spinoff

Cleveland.

Although the animated series, which stars Seth MacFarlane,

Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long, centers on the Cleveland Brown character from Family

Guy. Although was originally slated to premiere

this spring, Cleveland will debut in the fall of 2010. It had a full season’s

worth of 22 episodes before the additional 13 episodes were added to the mix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,

the new order of episodes was done keep Cleveland in continuous production and

avoid shutting down and losing talent and crew.

* Christina Aguilera is preparing for her close-up as she

prepares to invade movie theaters with her screen debut in the contemporary

musical. Burlesque. Variety reports the

singer will an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family

and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club.

Although Xtina provided her voice for the animated feature Shark

Tale, this marks the first time she has

starred in a film.

* Tyler Perry can rest a little easier now as his alleged

stalker, Dawne Wilson, was indicted Tuesday (April 5) on a felony aggravated

stalking charge. TMZ reports that enough evidence is present to go forward with

the case, which will now go to trial. Wilson, who was arraigned Thursday (May

6), allegedly violated an order to stay away from Perry after police found her

at the entertainment mogul’s recording studio in Atlanta.

* She may have canceled her big comeback concert, but

Rihanna’s presence is being felt as the R&B/pop diva scored four Urban

Music Award nominations for Best Female Act, Best R&B Act and Artist of the

Year. In addition, Rihanna’s video for her Justin Timberlake assisted hit

“Rehab,” is up for Best Music Video.

Other Urban Music Awards nominees include Bobby Valentino,

John Legend, T-Pain and Ludacris, Sean Paul, Shakira and Mary Mary. The 2009

Urban Music Awards, which are voted online by music fans, will be given out on

July 17.

$10 Bill: Roots Live @ Highline Ballroom

Sometimes your expectations can be larger than reality. Sometimes when

people project larger than life, it fizzles when you see it up close. The Roots

have a reputation as the world’s greatest Hip-Hop band (with apologies to

Stetsasonic), and as such when you are going to see them for the first time, in

the rain, on a cooler than normal night, with the line is down the block, and

the 11:30 show doesn’t even begin until 1 A.M., you can’t help but think to yourself,

“these m*****s better be good.” I was in for the surprise of my Hip-Hop life.

After a spirited set by the Street Sweeper Social Club (feat. Boots

Riley and Tom Morello), ?uestlove and the band finally took the stage. The show

begins with the drum solo. Boom-Bap, Boom-Boom-Boom Bap.  A couple Tss Tss from the cymbals. Then ?uest

is joined by a horn.  It’s a musical

marriage for a few measures. Then Morello returns to the stage, guitar in tow for

a threesome of rhythm.

The trio jams in a symphony of anarchy; the beautiful bump joins the

force of the horn and merge with the rage of the guitar. It is at once kinetic,

dynamic and devoid of Hip-Hop loop.  One

way rhythm, in unison, assaulting our ears; a Radio Raheemian clash of love for

noise and hate for convention. The trio became a quartet and the quartet grew

into a full out jam session as the keys chime in and more guitars join in the

orgy of melody. And we haven’t heard any words yet. This is not your father’s

music. It’s its bastard son’s. Beautifully ugly. And then, there was Thought.

It’s clear who the star of the show is. Mr. Trotter is both a dominant presence

and another blended instrument; Black Fonzy cool, silently holding court before

pouncing into action. The Roots do a tremendous job of creating tension and

anticipation musically and Black Thought took the stage at precisely the right

moment.

Standing at 5’ 7”, Black doesn’t take up much space physically, but

once he gets going he becomes the dominant instrument on stage.  Smooth and assertive in voice, and clear in

projection and diction. It’s clear that he’s either performing or practicing

constantly, because he weaves in and out of familiar rhymes with music behind

him that is ever-changing and almost never the version we hear on the album.  That in itself is impressive, but more so is

how in control of his pace and breath he is.

There is no pausing for a hype man to catch breath nor any lazily

handing over of a song to the audience.

Black Thought is in possession and control of his own music.

The Roots as a band, and Black Thought in particular are masters of music,

blending and beating the rhythm; ghetto romancing it, embracing and

retreating.  It is raw passion. It is at

once Bleek Gilliam’s wet dream and Shadow’s love affair: playing what they want

and moving the crowd. Thought is as fluid as water flowing over stone, effortlessly

adapting familiar standards to new interpolation.

Amanda Diva popped in for a guest appearance, as is convention for jam

sessions. She went into a rhyme that was probably better than any flow I’ve

heard from her previously. A solid performance, but on this night, it was

little more than filler.

Then the real fun began. You would associate The Roots with groups of a

similar aesthetic, so when you prepare for guests, you imagine Q-Tip, or

Common or Kweli.  Not this time, Jack.

Buckshot took the stage along with General Steele and Heltah Skeltah for that

classic Brooklyn grit over a full band. The crowd went bonkers, and it was just

the sort of surprise that takes a Hip-Hop show to that “yoooo son you missed it”

level.

Following the Boot Camp beat down, Roots affiliate Dice Raw took to the

stage to continue his assault with back and forth gymnastics between himself

and Thought. They did a rendition of “The Lesson” from the classic Do You Want More? that totally abandoned

the beat-boxed bang of the original to the point where it was almost unrecognizable.  But that was a good thing. It was a

reflection of improvisation that is rarely display in these days of prewritten

freestyles.

Let me say this. I have seen many Hip-Hop shows, in many venues, and I

have seen many performances, but I would have to say that this was the most

riveting Hip-Hop related show I have ever witnessed. It was the exact opposite

of any show you have ever seen. The DJ took a back seat to the instrumentation.

The MC knew all his words and you could hear them clearly, and he didn’t depend

on you to fill in the gaps. No hype man and not one person on stage that didn’t

have a purpose.  It’s everything that

Hip-Hop should aspire to be musically.

Black Thought is MC of the highest order and he’s even better on stage

than on wax. ?uestlove leads a musical ensemble cast that is devoid of ego and

perfectly fused and determined to play as one.

If you get the chance, you should go see The Roots live. It will be an

education in music, a great show, and you will certainly get your money’s

worth.

Kurupt: The Quik Blackout

Philadelphia native and California adopted son Ricardo Brown a.k.a. Kurupt first came to the attention of the rap world as part of Snoop Dogg’s crew The Dogg Pound back during the rise of the West Coast based Death Row Records. Kurupt stood out from most West Coast artists with his unique delivery and emphasis on sharp lyrics as heard on such classic albums as The Chronic and Doggystyle before embarking on his own classic album Dogg Food with Daz Dillinger as part of The Dogg Pound.

Kurupt took a solo route and released the much heralded Kuruption in 1998 and the classic Streetz Iz A M#### in 1999. 2001’s Space Boogie: Smoke Odyssey was met with mixed reviews and was the last time we would see the Dogg Pound together for a few years as Kurupt took a Vice President position with Death Row Records not too long after that album’s release. Since the reformation of The Dogg Pound after the 2005 West Coast Conference put together by Snoop Dogg, the group has released several albums which were met with disappointment by many of their longtime fans.

The Dogg Pound’s upcoming album 100 Wayz has been described by the group as their actual real return although there hasn’t been a release date given to the new album. Kurupt however seems ready to show fans that he can once again be a force on the mic as gears up for a brand new release with West Coast legend Dj Quik called Blaqkout and another upcoming album called Streetlight with rising producer Terrace Martin. AllHipHop caught up with Kurupt at a taping of Snoop Dogg’s MTV show Dogg After Dark to give us a very brief interview about his upcoming moves.

AllHipHop.com: You have the Blaqkout album coming out with DJ Quik. Tell us how you two hooked up for that?

Kurupt: We had talked while working on Snoop Dogg’s Ego Trippin’ album. I told Quik that it was about time for him to get down on that mic. We decided to go ahead and make a historical album together and that’s what we did.

AllHipHop.com: What can we look forward to from the album?

Kurupt: You can look forward to some classic music – some of the best new music coming out of the West Coast. You already know that with Quik doing his thing musically. Lyrically we are both back on our steez. It’s a great album – more of a party than anything else. It’s not about being super hard or anything. It’s just about having a good time – and it’s also some grown folk music – music that our generation can love and have a ball with as well as the younger generation. Get your step on to this!

AllHipHop.com: What was it like working with DJ Quik on a complete album together?

Kurupt: There are certain people that you work with where it’s a real experience and Quik is one of those people. Both of us have great experience in making music so it flowed like water. After I finish my Streetlight album with Terrace Martin, me and Quik will be back in the studio to work on the next DJ Quik & Kurupt album. That is something that we plan on putting out once every year.

AllHipHop.com: A second DJ Quik & Kurupt album is planned?

Kurupt: Oh yeah. The second one might be a little more hard-edged because we’ve got so many different ideas that we want to do together. Right now for Blaqkout we just wanted to make an album for people to have fun, get their step on, and just enjoy themselves. When your day has you down, this will bring you up.

AllHipHop.com: You mentioned the Streetlight album with Terrace Martin. Give us some insight on that.

Kurupt: Terrace and I are putting that together. We are about eight records in right now – bangin’ em’ out. Come May it will be complete and the mastering process will begin. We’ve got classics on that one too. Bobby Valentino gave me on that was straight stupid.

AllHipHop.com: Any new word on The Dogg Pound’s 100 Wayz album?

Kurupt: I just landed from Atlanta about four hours ago. I’ve been working on that with Daz for the past four days. We are just getting it right so that we can take it to Snoop so he can hear it and add his touches to the ballgame, you know, to the records that he wants to jump on. Daz put his imprint on that music too. We are trying to him them with this good a** West Coast motherf***in’ music. This is classic music that we are going to hit them with, from me and DJ Quik to me, Snoopy and Daz. Snoop did an album on me called Niggarachi Presents Kurupt the Kingpin. We are going to hit them off with that one too.

AllHipHop.com: What’s going to drop first out of all of those?

Kurupt: Me and DJ Quik’s Blaqkout. That’s coming out June 10th. After that album, I don’t know. Me, Daz and Snoopy are still working on 100 Wayz and Terrace and I are still working on Streetlight. Plus I have a movie that I wrote and that I will be co-directing called Emerald City. That’s a movie that me, Daz and Snoopy will be putting together.

AllHipHop.com: So you are still acting? What other roles are you doing these days?

Kurupt: I’m still waiting for the Days of Wrath movie that I did to hit the public so they can enjoy it.

AllHipHop.com: That’s the movie that you did with Wilmer Valderamma, right?

Kurupt: That’s right. Wilmer did his thing in that movie too. I have this other movie that Sticky Fingaz is going to drop, it’s a Hip-Hop opera. It’s a musical that Sticky Fingaz put together. I’m in it with Miki Phifer, Omar Epps, Fredo Starr and Lil Zane.

AllHipHop.com: How have you managed to stay around in this rap game for so long since 1993?

Kurupt: I have good partners and I keep my head to the grind. When you have your grind on, you stay relevant. Lately, all I’ve been doing is just keeping my business together and raising these kids but now I’m ready to go full force again. I also have great teachers who have taught me well from my dad to Snoop Dogg. I’ve got my deal with Fontana/Universal and I’m ready to push out these projects.

AllHipHop.com: You mentioned raising kids. Does being a family man have any impact on the kind of music that you make?

Kurupt: I’m going to continue being me. I make music that my kids and my mama can listen to and I also make music that is not for them. But I’m going to continue making the music that the public wants to hear from me.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Who Leaked Cassies Pics? Alfamega Fights? Rick Ross Signs New Act?

THANKS, VIBE!

Shout out to Vibe…I got included in their Top 50 Rap Blogs. I am shocked and I am amazed. I’ve been here longer than most but get little credito. Shout out to Vibe for giving me my first honor!

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Well, I didn’t even post the real nude pics of Cassic, but I was one of the first to have the pics up so those people at Bad Boy got me first with a court order to take ‘em down. The court order was more of a cease and desist, but all sorts of people have the pics up! I’m not gonna snitch though. I got pinched but I don’t tell.

Anyway, Cassie’s pics come out at an interesting time, right around the time when she’s got an album coming out. I don’t know when its coming out so I can’t call it. One thing I can say is that there is another picture running around of Cassie and she’s straight up spread eagle steez! Now, those hot, classy ta-ta pics were cool, but this other pic is letting the sun shine in! I wonder if that piercing hurt down there. That pic makes me think there is no press stunt here. Whoa.

SO, WHO LEAKED THE PHOTOS?

Now, that half of the world has seen what Cassie is working with. There remains the question: who leaked these images. Well, allow me to play Sherlock Seed for a minute. Now, Cassie said that somebody must have hacked into her computer and happened to find her sassy lil’ pictures. Well, that sounds a bit far fetched. Its not like her computer is the backend of White House mainframe. However, Cassie has a bit more history in the game that this. I have a source that tells me that Ryan Leslie is suspected in leaking the spicey images in question. Now, there is no proof, but R-Les had opportunity and motive! Opportunity – he was with Cassie before Diddy! Motive – Diddy stole the love of his life! Now…enjoy this video of Cassie before she hit it big.

The freaks come out at night, Whodini said!

OMARION COMMENTS ON CASSIE – SORTA

ALFAMEGA FIGHTS ONE OF THE BIGGEST GANGS?

I don’t know how true this is, but I heard that Alfamega got into a fight with one of the biggest gangs in the nation. But not the Bloods or the Crips, I am hearing that Alfamega might have gotten into an altercation with the Atlanta Police department. I am not sure what may have happened and I don’t have confirmation. What I am hearing is that he may be in the hospital, handcuffed to a bed as he recovers. Not sure. More as I hear it.

You already heard this from AHH news, but T.I. went and booted Alfamega out of Grand Hustle. He really didn’t have any choice in the matter and you all know it. Click here to read about it. What is Mega going to do now!!??

RICK ROSS IS SIGNING ARTISTS!

My favorite Florida source is telling me that Rick Ross is on the prowl in the streets and he’s looking to sign popular Florida rapper Frank Lini. I am not so familiar with Frank Lini, but there are rumors that suggest that Plies has rapped his rhymes based on the life of Lini. That’s neither here nore there for me. Frank and Rick have been in the studio recently and seems like they are making some musical magic.

In a side note, my girl Miss Mouth told me it is getting very difficult to get really good shows with Florida artists, because of all the beef. You can’t book “Plies” & “Ross” together, nor “Trick” and “Plies,” “Trick” and “Ross” nor “T-Pain and “Plies” on the same ticket.

EPIC WIN OF THE DAY

This goat probably doesn’t even know what it can do, but it has the ability to speak like a human. Check out him yelling at people!

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

Now this is a fool for the ages! When you steal something, it is customary to do what they call a “getaway.” But in Dayton, Ohio, it seems like the rules are a bit different. — Stanley Wright allegedly stole several hundred dollars worth of clothing from a store. What did he do before leaving? He decided to apply for a JOB. Yes, he stole from the biz and applied for a job at the same store. Imagine if he worked there! Dude is now in the county. The recession is driving people MAD. According to police, old Stan “walked around the store stuffing several items under his shirt and into his his waistline before going to the counter, filling out an application and leaving the store.” He could have pulled it off, but the alarm went off as he tried to exit. He got away, but they had all his damn information on the job application. WHAT A FOOL! WHAT A FAIL!

T.I. Kicks Alfamega Out Of Grand Hustle

T.I. has decided to kick rapper AlfaMega out of his rap crew after the news that Mega once served as an informant for the DEA in Atlanta.

The rapper made the announcement on the radio HOT 107.9 in Atlanta late Thursday night.

“I am stunned and totally surprised by the news about Alpha ‘Ced’ Zellers. Even though all our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history, at no time did Alpha never disclose to me or Grand Hustle which is now appearing in the news,” T.I. said, reading from a prepared statement. “He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose information about his past, and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior.”

Alfamega was sentenced to a federal prison term of 110 months in September 1995, after being found guilty of selling weapons to an undercover federal agent.

According to documents published by thesmokinggun.com, Zellars, contacted the United States Attorney’s office via his attorney Dwight Thomas, to offer information regarding “the illegal activity of several individuals within the City of Atlanta.” T.I. said he wished his former artist well, but said he wouldn’t help in his growth as an artist or person. “As I’ve always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions. We at Grand Hustle cannot support or condone blaming others for our own mistakes. I hope that he prays to God bless his plans, but I don’t for see me or my company playing a role in his personal or professional business.” Prior to his court records being released, Alfamega was preparing to release his Grand Hustle debut I Am Alfamega sometime this year.According to various sources, the rapper is said to be convalescing in an Atlanta hospital after an altercation with police. At press time, Alfamega could not be reached for comment.

Rece Steele: Ego Trippin’

It’s been approximately one year since Ego Trip’s Miss

Rap Supreme aired on VH1 and the winner of

the show isn’t proud of what she’s been a part of. For weeks Rece Steele stood

around women who she claims were not on the show for the love of Hip-Hop, but

for the love of fame and stardom. Where she thought the creators of the show

wanted to present “femcees” in a positive light, she felt it was all an

unsuccessful joke.

Where does the platform become available for women in Hip-Hop

to earn respect? For the last 14 years of her life Rece Steele has struggled to

find that answer and it hasn’t been easy since her reign at “The Fembassy” on

the show. After run-ins with Lady Luck’s sly battle tactics, Nicki Minaj’s foul

mannerisms, and a few “Ego Trips” from industry heads giving her constant

shade, Rece invested her frustrated energy into her work.

Rece is currently preparing for her next mixtape Rece

Steele Reserved and working on new videos

for her current mixtape It’s A Man’s World. While she continues to fight for her space in a Hip-Hop landscape

where women aren’t represented in a proper way, Rece feels too many women favor

gaining a man’s attention instead of relating to other women. Camaraderie she

feels lacks one major ingredient: respect.

AllHipHop.com: Are

you tired of being called “Miss Rap Supreme” yet?

Rece Steele:

[laughs] Yes I’m very tired of being called “Miss Rap Supreme.” Not that the

title is so bad, but the show itself, I didn’t respect the show… I thought it

was unfair. Even for me, I won the show, but all I did was rap when I was on

the show from day one. I felt like I was the only person that was there for

that; everyone else had other reasons.

I really didn’t like how Ego Trip, not VH1, Ego Trip…I really

didn’t like how they did the show when it comes to the essence of Hip-Hop,

because that’s not what it is. I thought it was going to be a show explaining

how women get slept on in the game and maybe they can prove that wrong. It

turned out [to be] how they can make fun of how women [are] getting slept on in

the game. If they do that, then how are we ever going to get respected for

what we do? Obviously that wasn’t their intention, so I’m tired of the Miss

Rap Supreme—just the show. I love

the title, but the show itself is kind of wack to me.

AllHipHop.com: Do

you think Ego Trip just makes fun of upcoming female artists?

Rece Steele: I’m

not going to judge Ego Trip like that. I think they just wanted a funny,

successful show that would get ratings. They just went about it the wrong way.

That’s just how I look at it. The show wasn’t that successful. In ratings it

was better than The White Rapper Show but it wasn’t the biggest

show [compared to] Puffy’s Making The Band

as far as ratings go. I think they just made a mistake.

They didn’t show enough of the grind and the work ethic in

the music; it was just a lot of playing around. Honestly, I don’t think I would

have watched the show. I would have been mad if I watched the show. I was on

the show and I won, so I’m keeping it so

real right now. I thought they learned off The White Rapper Show.

AllHipHop.com: Do

you feel the way they edited the show portrayed you the wrong way?

Rece Steele: Me,

definitely… I felt like they put me in the house to be the hood chick that

flips on everything, because I have a strong opinion and I think that they got

that off of my first casting call that I will flip. Pretty much, it was going

to the point that they were trying to provoke me to flip! When you chop and

edit, I’m not going to be on every show where I’m cursing everybody out and

you’re going to make it look like I’m crazy. I just felt so uncomfortable with

a lot of things, that’s why I fell back a little bit. It’s weird when you put

your life in somebody else’s hands and you’re not even fully trusting of them.

AllHipHop.com: You

talked about purposely not coming out as the aggressive hood chick, but you

didn’t really entertain the other women in the house when they were coming

after you.

Rece Steele: It was

all phony bulls**t. Behind my back people were stealing. I had something

stolen from me before, people looking at me up and down—there was a bunch

of stuff that I could have really, really flipped for that I probably would

have, but I don’t have time for that. I wasn’t on there to do that.

I felt like it was just, “We need more drama, Rece.” I never

fell into that. I think I actually made them kind of mad. They pick you

thinking that you’re going to do these things to the point that everyone is in

the house for a reason, so they will clash, so these things will go down. I heard from the Ego Trip guy—Sacha [Jenkins] actually told me

personally, “They want to get you off of the show.”

Ego Trip, they didn’t want me on the show anymore. They didn’t

want me to win. They wanted me off. A gentlemen by the name of Ken Mok, he’s

behind America’s Next Top Model, he was

the guy who fought for me to stay. He was the boss guy who fought for me to

stay on the show. They wanted me off, because I wasn’t giving them enough

drama even though it was a Hip-Hop show. Sacha told that on the phone to me.

I wasn’t hurting anybody while I was there, I would speak to everybody and give

as much respect as I could. If I speak to Sacha right now he’d be nasty with me…I

feel like it was always a problem. I’m not going to say with VH1, but the Ego

Trip guy, that Sacha guy, he really cannot stand me. Elliott [Wilson] over there is

cool for the most part, I think the other [Ego Trip member’s name is] Gabriel [Alvarez],

he was cool. Sacha was the only one who didn’t like me. Out of everybody on

there, you would want me off?

AllHipHop.com: In

the scope of analyzing both inside and outside of the show, women do go at each

other in Hip-Hop. Do you feel like the camaraderie between women in Hip-Hop is

downplayed? Is there respect in it at all?

Rece Steele: I

think it could be, but I don’t have good relationships with women rappers… If

you are a cool female rapper and I meet you, if it’s cool then it’s cool.

Right now I’m focused on myself. If I can do what I do and we’re cool, then

it’d be great. I don’t push the issue anymore, because it doesn’t seem like

it’s going to work out. I’m not as catty as a lot of people, I’ll tell you

that right now. If you’re doing what you got to do, then I’ll respect it. You

disrespect me then I’m going to disrespect you, that’s how I feel.

Even in the Lady Luck battle, she was disrespecting me

hard-body…going at my moms—it didn’t have to be like that. We went on a,

“We’re going to be two MC getting at each other, but it’s an MC battle like

what they used to do.” She took it there. The Niki [Minaj] situation where I

was disrespected again? I was out here minding my business when she was

putting signs up—stuff like that isn’t even necessary. At the end of

the day why can’t she just do her thing and I’ll give her a hand shake and keep

it moving even if you don’t want to be involved with it? It’s just catty.

AllHipHop.com: With

the disrespect that you spoke about, where did that stem from with Niki Minaj?

Rece Steele: Her

publicist held a sign right behind my head. It was just a disrespectful thing.

I’m on my grind and I’m looking at her like, “OK you have Lil’ Wayne over

there with you and y’all shouldn’t be doing that to me!” She has a backing and

I wish I had one. Sometimes I do wish, but now I’m starting not to wish

anymore. I met Niki before in Harlem at a show and she was super stink and she

looked at me up and down and her friends were talking about me. There was

never a respect level from day one. I remember everything. Everybody I meet I

remember every situation.

I’m her competition, I guess, but I’m not her competition

because I’m not trying to do what she’s doing. You can’t look at me as your

comp because I’m going to beat you. You’re just doing it off a look. Even

though I might be pretty, it’s not a gimmick though. So many people wish it

was, but it’s not though. This is real. I write with my hands in this book

myself. This is what I do. It’s not a gimmick and she’s a gimmick. We’re

different. She’s wishing she wasn’t a gimmick but that’s just how it is.

You’re born with certain things and you can’t just get up and say you just want

to rap one day because you’re cute. That’s not going to work in the long run.

AllHipHop.com: So

you don’t think she’s a great lyricist at all?

Rece Steele: Hell

no! Niki sucks! She’s horrible. I’ll give respect when it’s due, period. I

never heard anything I would say I’d bop to. I’m a lover of Hip-Hop. If it’s

good I’m messing with it. They know that over there and she knows that, too.

At the end of the day she knows.

Allhiphop.com: Do

you feel Lady Luck is good? What do you feel about her talent?

Rece Steele: Lady

Luck used to be ill back in the day. I’m not going to lie. When Lady Luck

first got signed I listened to Lady Luck. I think she was better back in the

day, but she definitely won’t be able to go where she’d like to go because she

just doesn’t have that crossover. She’s a female at the end of the day and I

know she might be gay or whatever the case may be, but I don’t know how she’ll

get anybody to accept it.

AllHipHop.com:

Where do you feel like you fit in this equation of the music industry?

Rece Steele: I fit

in as an MC. Even though I am a female, I don’t want them to look at me as

that. I want you to look at me as an MC or a rapper that can do anything that

any guy can do. I know I’m dope. I think the people would be the ones to love

me, not the artists. Maybe some will down the line when I get my name up, I’m

sure. I’m Hip-Hop and people will respect me more and that’s what’s happening

now. I’m not rich and you guys have big money or some of you front like you

have money, whatever the case may be, and I’ve seen people get intimidated by

me. Grown ass men…maybe I’m above a lot of people that are in [the industry]

and can’t accept it. I wouldn’t be intimidated by you if it were the other way

around.

AllHipHop.com:

You’re getting ready to get into a lot of things and you’re doing it on your

own.

Rece Steele: This

is about to be a good look for me. [The Shade45 Morning Show with Angela Yee],

it’s going to be like a reality show every morning at 10AM just following my

grind…It will probably be 15 minutes every Wednesday. It’s a good chance for

me to just play some music and just talk about what happens during the week.

Believe it or not, I am the little dude, but I come into contact with a lot of

people. I just did The Source, which is a real good look for me

because I was working on that from the show and I got to do it recently. The

mixtape It’s A Man’s World I just

dropped that…I have a next mixtape I’m working on called Rece Steele

Reserved. I make beats as well, I sing, I

do a lot of other things. I’m going to start getting into that to show the

world I can do that, too. I want my space and I want my respect because I’m

working.

I run around crazy, but I don’t mind it. It’s not the work

that I mind, I just want to be in a bigger space doing it and get paid more.

Everybody thinks I’m like a workaholic. I call everybody early in the morning

, when everybody’s sleeping I’m up. It’s been 14 years for me to even get a

chance to do this, so I’m a do it and I’m going to go in with my heart.
