DaBaby Declares Himself & Lil Wayne The Best Rappers Alive

Where do you place the two southerners on your list of top emcees at the moment?

Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter Jr. has been calling himself the “Best Rapper Alive” for over a decade. A track titled “Best Rapper Alive” even appeared on the New Orleans-raised artist’s critically-acclaimed Tha Carter II LP in 2005.

While Wayne’s musical output is not connecting with mainstream listeners at the same level it did during his peak years, many rap fans still hold up the legend as one of the best rhymers on the planet. One of the hottest Hip Hop acts of 2020 is placing his name right alongside Weezy.

“Best rappers alive,” wrote Jonathan “DaBaby” Kirk in the Instagram caption of a photo of the North Carolina native and Lil Wayne inside a Miami studio. As of press time, DaBaby’s post has amassed more than 1.2 million likes.

These two rhymers did appear on a song together in 2020. Lil Wayne and DaBaby, as well as Tory Lanez, were guest features on the remix for Jack Harlow’s Top 10 hit “Whats Poppin.” Last year also saw Wayne drop the Funeral album. DaBaby also dropped Blame It on Baby in 2020.
