Floyd Mayweather Talks Modern Rap Making It Okay To Be A Junkie (VIDEO)

THE BOXING LEGEND SPEAKS WITH DJ WHOO KID

(AllHipHop News) Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather’s career features a connection to Hip Hop culture.

The Money Team head has had a long love-hate relationship with G-Unit’s 50 Cent, and he’s known to party with rap stars like Future and Fat Joe.

Mayweather is also the founder of the TMT Music Group which is the label home to rapper Lil Jamez.

During an interview with DJ Whoo Kid, the undefeated prize fighter-turned-promoter spoke about current Hip Hop.

“Rap has took a heavy turn. At a particular time, rap was all about the lyrics. Now it’s a little different,” Mayweather stated.

He continued, “I can remember when all we talked about was just marijuana. Now it’s okay to be a junkie… It’s crazy that it’s okay to OD on drugs, it’s okay to take any drugs now, it’s okay to be a junkie.”

Mayweather mentioned late Hip Hop icons The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur as makers of timeless music.

The 40-year-old athlete also questioned why his frenemy 50 Cent was not given more industry awards for his music-based accomplishments.
