KRS-One to bring forth an event celebrating the worldwide

phenomenon known as Hip-Hop. The 8-day event, known as Hip-Hop

Appreciation Week, will take place from May 14-21, 2001. The

message that will be honed at various events during the week

will be concentrated on a collective movement dedicated to

decriminalizing Hiphop’s public image.

High profile events

will include the press conference and proclamation ceremony

on Monday, May 14, at City Hall, NY from 9am-10:30am ET. Scheduled

attendees include: Governor, George E. Pataki, Manhattan Borough

President, C. Virginia Fields, NY State Senator, Chuck Schumer,

and Bronx Borough President, Fernando Ferrar and will be open

to the public. On Wednesday, May 16, the International Hip-Hop

Conference/Declaration of Peace Ceremony, an invite only event,

will take place at the prestigious United Nations Building,

Rm 414, from 5:30pm-8:30pm ET. A private concert at SOB’s,

New York, NY will be held showcasing marquee artists including

KRS-One May 20, from 8pm-12am ET to mark the event’s closing.

"We would

like to send a message bringing forth our company’s commitment

to the movement along with educating our young target market

about what Hip-Hop representation is all about," states

Lugz marketing coordinator, Calvin Peters. "The culture

itself is a positive medium that holds a vast economic and

social power which has been the foundation of our company

image over the years, so we are happy to be a part of an event

as important as this," added Larry Schwartz, Lugz executive

vice president.
